We all went to Jo's Famous Pizza in Edmond for the first time tonight. Nice atmosphere, nice booth, great food. The menu board out front wasn't that easy to read and I would have rather had menus at the table and a waiter/waitress take the order. The cashier was nice and helpful and the server was as well. I had a BBQ chicken pizza that was excellent. We also got "The Italian" which unfortunately had some toppings our little one didn't like. The garlic bread was a little too salty but still good. Unlimited refills on the drinks was nice. All in all it was a good experience with great food. I'd definitely go back again. read more

I eat here on occasion, but only if someone else is paying for it. The pizza is greasy, takes a loooong time to get after you order, served on cardboard plates and it's fairly bland. And expensive for what your getting. I've had worse, but I've also had better pizza under a convenience store heat lamp. read more

I had heard that Jo's had been featured on Discover Oklahoma so during a quick road trip I HAD to try this pizza. The crust was perfect, they don't skimp on the cheese and holy crap I swear the sizes are larger than normal. Sooo good! Had not heard of this place, and I was wanting some pizza. Yeah, decor is a little weird (maybe an old BBQ joint?) but it's good pizza. Crust is a lot like Humble Pie (not deep dish, but flaky and tasty) and defnitely worth the trip. Nice salad, mini pizza and a drink for $9.99. Glad I checked it out. read more

The service was excellent! We originally ordered a combination pizza and Canadian bacon (half and half), but the Canadian bacon was shredded, which made for a very odd textured pizza. We didn't like either half, so asked for it to be replaced with a cheese pizza. Adam, the manager, brought the second pizza and asked us to let him know if we had any other problems. We didn't...the cheese pizza was very good. Caitlyn, our server, was super nice. We will come back to this place! read more

Sadly, I no longer recommend this restaurant. Several years ago we ate here at LEAST once a week but then came the change of ownership (after she passed away) and Rodney, Jo's nephew who had run the restaurant for years, opened his own store and we followed along. Tonight we thought to change it up and order from Jo's. I knew they had a website now so I looked up the menu and called to place my order. The first thing I ordered I was told they do not make that here in Purcell, only Edmond. That was not mentioned anywhere on the website. Then I tried to order a sandwich and was told the same. Again not mentioned on the website. They did, however, have our third and forth choices so that is what we ordered. The BLT pizza and the Sooner pizza. One positive note, the pizzas were ready on time. The pizzas looked good but, unfortunately, didn't taste very good. There was hardly any bacon or sauce on the BLT and was quite tasteless and bland. My husband ate the Sooner. He said that it was dry and bland. I'm not sure how a multi-meat pizza could be bland but there you have it. I don't like writing negative reviews and I don't want to turn you off from eating there. Jo's has been a landmark here in Purcell for decades and I hope will continue to be for years to come. read more

Stopped by for pizza and beer but no beer. Had to forgo pizza. Great waitress but no beer. Should serve beer but they don't. The entryway is phenomenal, though. A bit judgemental at checkout since all we got was water and tea. read more

Good pizza place...crust is more pie-like than bread. Sauce and cheese are quality ingredients. I had mine with anchovies.

I just ate at the Jo's in Edmond and I don't know what they're serving in Purcell but this offal is certainly not famous. I got a medium 2 topping pizza (12") that was almost $14 and it had CANNED mushrooms. Everything was really bland and I will never return here. read more

Pizza is ok. I did like that they load their pizza with toppings and the topping sizes are huge. But $26 for one large all meat pizza is way to high. At that price I will not go back. Mazzios is just as good and the price is much cheaper read more

We pulled in during a rain storm having found nothing particularly appealing throughout the rest of the town, so opted for Jo's. The staff was friendly enough, and the pizza was a decent thin-crust, if a little cracker-y. read more

I guess you could call us a family that gives the benefit of the doubt for quite awhile. We have eaten at Jo's in Edmond at least eight times. Loved it the first couple of times and then were unfortunately disappointed on consistent pizza quality each time we went. I guess anyone can have an off night, but we have learned our lesson and will not be returning. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, until management decided to change the ordering set up. Who wants to decide what you want to eat while standing with a room full of people in the entryway. There were many disgruntled guests. We then had to serve ourselves our drinks and get our own refills. That was o.k. but we received no attention from the wait staff after our pizza was delivered. Our salad bowls sat on our table until we left. The economy is to bad to skimp on service and food quality. Customers will just take their hard earned money elsewhere. read more

Ate here for the first and last time. Service was painfully slow. Ran out of drink halfway through salad and not given a refill til after pizza arrived about 40 min later. Pizza was incredibly greasy, the sauce was very bland and the crust tasted like cardboard that had been frozen. Seriously, a frozen Tonys pizza would have been better and much cheaper. Very disappointed but it's not even the worst part. Used the restroom and it obviously hadn't been cleaned in at least a few days which is always a major strike for me. Then when paying, another customer brought a pizza up stating it was the wrong order (he was touching the pizza) and a person behind the counter realized it was supposed to go to a different family and picked it up and took it over to that table. I was so shocked I actually said what happened and that this place is disgusting out loud and the person taking my payment lied to me and said they were all with the same table as if I didn't just witness the whole thing. If you're thinking about trying this place DON'T DO IT! I only gave one star because it won't let me give a zero rating. read more

I had my 1st Jo's Pizza in 1962, the year she opened for business. It is so sad when people get their feelings hurt and then tell lies to try to cover up the truth. Jo's nephew did not get "fired". He got his feelings hurt. When Jo's sister had to come from Texas to take care of her because Rodney wouldn't, it meant taking care of her business alsot. That would encroach on his play time too much. Before he quit, he was at the business no more than 1 - 2 days a week because he was too busy off seeing the world, riding his motorcycle, to the lake, camping, living a millionaire lifesyle while stil paying himself a full salary and left the assistant manager in charge of the pizza business. When the sister came, it meant he was goint to have to actually work full-time as the manager so he quit and told everyone he was fired so they would have sympathy for him. He was not fired...he quit. There is a difference. No one who was fired would call up Jo's sister and say they were so lonesome to see "Aunt Jo" and would she please bring "Aunt Jo" to his pizza place and then take pictures to promote his business aspects using the pictures as though "Aunt Jo" just happened to drop by. If his business is doing so well, why does he have to play the "I worked at Jo's Famous Pizza" card to promote his pizza? Maybe it's because without "Aunt Jo's Famous Pizza" there would be no Rodney's Pizza? Rodney's Pizza will always be just a knock off of Jo's Famous Pizza. Give credit where credit is due. Jo's Famous Pizza is still in business and it is still the BEST pizza in Oklahoma since 1962. read more
