We hired Garden Mamas to maintain our mature hillside garden. While we thought it a bit strange…read morethat we had a different crew out most every time, we were assured by Tamara that she had communicated what needed to be done - she was managing the crew. This method seemed to work mostly, although we had to tell the crew each visit what to do, as mostly instructions had been partially communicated. One day, she sent two new people. We told them to trim two bushes on the stairwell and to pick up the leaves, nothing else. This was also communicated to Tamara a few days prior, but like most times, the crew seemed clueless as to what to do. When they were done and had left, we discovered that they had BUTCHERED our garden - most of five++ years of growth was cut away and in a most unappealing fashion. Her crew ripped out plants that a previous crew had installed only a month prior, had trimmed four bushes that were covering an unsightly wall into lollipop shapes, completely exposing the wall, trimmed new growth off of once per season budding plants without any care for shape or aesthetics, butchered slow growing manzanita plants that may never recover, etc etc etc. We were appalled and contacted her. Tamara responded to our concerns, but would not or could not take personal or financial responsibility for making us whole. She told us that the crew she sent was inexperienced and had never worked on a personal, mature garden (only on storage facilities and office complexes), and that she did not have the $$ to replace the plants destroyed or to pay for someone else to replace the plants (as we told her that we could not work with her anymore). We thought about going to the CSLB so that we could at least recover her bond, but did the time/money calculus and finally settled on her paying for two plants to be replaced, at another landscaper's wholesale cost (approx $500). So far, it has cost us over $10000 to get the garden back to where it was, and it will take a few years for it to look as good as it did prior to November 2025. We tried to support this independent, woman-owned business; but her model of a different crew every time coupled with an inability to run her business in a fiscally responsible manner makes it impossible for us to recommend her to ANYONE

The project was completed within the time she estimated. Invoicing/payment process was clear and easy. I provided photos of the types of plants I liked (from other people's yards) and they provided a list of recommendations with descriptions and pricing as well as placement suggestions. I appreciated Tamara checking in on me a a few times after they planted to see how things were going and reminding me to turn off the water during the rainy season. It's seven months later and I am still enjoying admiring and tending to my plants as they grow.

But Lara and the crew were able to meet these challenges head on, and found ways to optimize time so we were not bogged down with extra spend. We completely overhauled our back yard, from an overgrown mess to a yard we could be proud of, and most importantly, safe for our kids. Lara was great in understanding we had kids, and she helped in choosing materials that would work well to reduce or eliminate chemicals or difficult/sharp surfaces. Same goes for plant selection, equally good for our kids and dog so nothing with poisons, and lots of fun edibles for the kids to easily pick off an eat. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Bountiful Botanicals for your project, both large and small. They can take on any challenge and have the skills within the team to get any project completed. I've included a before, and a few after. The details speak for themselves on the quality and craftsmanship from the team!

This was a technically challenging project involving a steep hill and very mature redwood roots. Standout qualities of this company are: 1. Ease of quoting process Before coming out in person, they were able to give us a ballpark price based on dimensions, fence type, and site images. This allowed me to decide whether to move forward and I thought this was really respectful of my time. Then, Dago, the owner, came for the site visit and to discuss details. 2. No bait and switch In ironing out the details, there was some miscommunication about whether staining was included. Dago was able to meet us halfway with the price increase. This honest business style continued throughout the project and no change orders or unexpected price increases happened. 3. Detail oriented Throughout the project, we discussed details such as fence posts placement relative to tree roots, post height, etc. Dago was both available in person and by email via his assistant Maria. It was also nice to have responses confirmed in writing so that things were clear and there would be no bait and switch. 4. Personality Dago is a really nice person and I enjoy speaking with his about his geriatric dogs, etc. This also helped me not feel anxious about the project, because I felt that I could trust him. For this fence, we received multiple quotes. Two companies were in the $9-10K range, another was around $12K, and an outlier was above $20K. Dago's price was the lowest quote (with minute differences in material) and we are very glad we went with him!

Recently, we had them to a full conversion/remodel of our backyard from awful weeds to nice natural grass, with an irrigation system, mulch, and tasteful plants. I would HIGHLY recommend using Dago Garcia's team for either regular yard maintenance, or any yard project you have in mind. They had a near perfect rating and were praised by pleased clients. After contacting Juan, he came over almost immediately to provide a quote. I wanted to update my high maintenance, overgrown front yard with low maintenance, drought tolerant plants and pavers. Juan listened to my ideas and provided his own useful knowledge. They were the right group for the job! Shortly afterwards, I also met Michael, the Project Manager. He and Juan manage several work teams that we got to see in action over the next several months. Workers were here religiously 5-6 days a week; usually starting around 9am and working usually until after 5pm in good weather and bad. The teams work incredibly hard and are extremely skilled in all facets of yard construction. Any concerns or glitches were met by almost immediate response by JV, whether or not the request came during the course of the work day. I was extremely impressed when Michael came by late one evening during pouring rain to clear water backing up onto the street and sidewalk due to equipment left at the curb. Near the completion of my front yard, I started to talk with Juan and Michael about completing the backyard and sides as well. They continued the pavers from the front with a backyard patio and paths on the sides. My old redwood deck was replaced with a composite deck and wood pergola, artificial grass, maintenance shed and complete lighting. Roxanne, their plant specialist, listened to my plant suggestions and designed a yard full of interesting plants to meet my requirements. Even though the job is now complete, JV wants to make sure customers remain satisfied. Many of my new plants were planted during the winter, and as I live in a frost zone, I was unsure of what would survive the winter. I'm pleased to say that only one type of flower planted in the front yard appears to be struggling, but Michael has already said they would be replaced if they didn't survive until spring. It's that type of customer follow through that makes JV Gardening amongst the best in their field. Now that my whole job is complete, I'm very happy that I used JV for the job. I truly think I made the best decision by hiring them!

He quickly came back with thoughtful suggestions and photos from nearby nurseries, which made the whole process feel easy and collaborative. Alfredo is incredibly prompt, personable, and punctual. He and his team did a beautiful job at a very reasonable price. He's also helped with ongoing maintenance in both my front and back yards, and everything has turned out so well. For the past two years I was watering my lawn all the time, sometimes twice a day during Summer and whenever we vacationed or left home for a week I was always worried about the lawn dying and all the effort it would take to regrow. It started to become a chore rather than something enjoyable. We finally decided to get a Sprinkler System installed and so glad we found Jon. Communication was great right away with super fast replies on Yelp and I believe Jon even came the next day for an estimate. He finished the sprinkler system in less than a week which is what he quoted with excellent attention to detail and a very honest price. The complexity was we were doing concrete work at the time so there were two contractors at our house at the same time. He set me up with a 3 zone system, the front area is exposed to a lot of sun and I always struggled with keeping things growing there. The cool thing is the Rachio system he installed automatically chooses ideal times to water based on daily weather reports. You can see the "after" pictures which show my lawn is still nice and green despite the heat and now I get to water for pleasure instead of doing it as a task! I enjoyed bantering with Jon as well, he is a very knowledgeable guy and also very easygoing and chill to talk to.
