This location is convenient and the staff is always welcoming. I have been here 4 or 5 times now and have not had a bad experience. I am always sooo nervous when I go somewhere new. Not just for my hair, but more for the experience. I want a salon to be quality and skilled without being condescending or arrogant. This is a nice balance, plus they have all the aveda products I love in stock (like stress relief oil) without pushing them every time you visit. My first visit here was post-covid and my hair had lines of color from dying my hair at home. Not only was it a remarkable change, but I never felt judged or laughed at. I know the before and after pictures were amazing though! The prices are not as high as other locations I've visited and they run specials where you can buy a gift card and get an additional "free" amount included. If you are in the Milton area and looking for a new spot, I highly recommend. read more

I didn't even get to get my hair done. It sucks pretty bad that I come here and first they tell me that I'm booked with a stylist I did not ask for. The one I requested is apparently with another client. The stylist didn't come to look at my hair at all. Then they tell me that the stylist I requested does not do "textured hair" anyway, although the girl who referred me here has textured hair. My feelings are hurt of course. I was so looking forward to getting my hair done. I guess I just need to go find a black salon somewhere. read more

Hey I just had a haircut I'm very disappointed.. I had really long hair till my waist.. I wanted layers all over n side bangs and shorten the length a bit. But now I just feel my hair just looks short and no style absolutely.. I mean you can really do so many things with long hair.. I'm not sure may be I was not ready to spend a lot of money I got some inexperienced lady.... Really really disappointed..I don't want to mention the name here .. Just writing an updated review.. I called n expressed my dissatisfaction to them..I was immediately scheduled for a redo appointment and this time it was Elizabeth who fixed my hair..she was just too good.. I've been to two Joseph and Friends locations and both women who did my hair were super nice people, but I just can't say I'm happy with the service. My first experience was a gloss and trim and that took 2 hours, the second time I went I was booked incorrectly and then got there and the service I asked for wasn't listed on the appointment. Thankfully, they made time to do it, but both times when I asked for a trim, I specified that I wanted it trimmed dry and only a tiny bit because I am trying to grow my hair longer. I emphasized this multiple times, and tonight I'm very upset because multiple inches seemed to have been cut off when i specified less then 1/4 inch. I don't want to seem petty, but I have been trying to grow my hair for 2 years now and my hair grows slowly so I am pretty sad about how much shorter it looks. Both times they also trimmed it wet after I specified that I wanted it trimmed dry. read more

Totally Un happy with my hair. I look like a highlighter walking around. Had to find a salon to fix it. This is a mess. Elizabeth was the stylist and then they put a toner on me twice and I looked like I had a golden egg on my head. Not good or a highlighter as my kids said. I paid 145 I believe and I had to pay another 140 to get a salon to fix it. I should be paid back. It was horrible. I couldn't take a hat off my head until fixed. read more

Very bad haircut at the Milton property. My bangs were cut so short it will take weeks to grow them out. She took a thinning shears to my fine hair and it is unstylable now. I will be wearing a baseball cap for the next six months If you try to stick it out and not complain you will find out you have only 2 weeks for them to redo your cut.....and how do you fix something that's already butchered too short. Never written a negative word in an online review in my life- until now. After spending over $300 at the Joseph and Friends in Milton, I left with orange-red-blonde and brown hair. My roots are very light blonde, then I have what appears to be a crown of orange/red hair that wraps around my head about 6 inches in length. When I arrived with my first appointment at the salon, I explained what I had done to my hair in the last year and showed a photo of what I wanted to do with my hair now. I was VERY CLEAR with my colorist on what I wanted to do and asked POINTEDLY "Can we do this today?" She not only assured me that it could be done, she said it could be made "perfect ". (Going from a dark brown/copper ombré to a light honey blond with highlights). She advised me it would be much more than the $200 I was quoted over the phone. She left and went and got a calculator and a pen and a piece of paper, and after doing the math came back and said it would be $300 including a cut (color would be $250). This was more than what I was quoted over the phone however I understood I would get a much more firm price after she met with me in person and really gauged my hair color, texture, and length. At first I declined the cut, however she explained it would be great to get a new cut after having bleach put on my hair. I trusted her and I said okay let's do it. The entire experience was painful. The "soap-cap" which is a bleach/shampoo mixture, burned my eyes, sinuses, and mouth from the severe fumes. I had to ask for a towel and a magazine to try to fan the fumes from burning. I had my hair colored and highlighted and bleached and toned for years and years. I have never struggled so badly to breathe from the fumes. I'm kind of surprised she didn't get a fan or something to try to alleviate the burning???!! After that experience, I had a substantial amount of hair break off from her use of a paddle brush on my soaked, tangled and almost matted hair at this point. After suffering though a lot of it ( I still have that southern politeness that doesn't want to make a fuss) I finally convinced her to let me brush it out on my own. And I started from the bottom and was very delicately and gently trying to get the tangles out. We really needed to put some sort of detangling solution and it prior to beginning this. But at this point I didn't have any control over any of that. After just under five hours of this, she told me it was almost 5:30pm . I know the weather was due to get bad and I think she wanted to get home and I did want to get home myself too. So she advised me that my hair probably needed a break to prevent over processing so she was advised I could come back a few days later for her to probably start the process over again. I look like a clown and my employer was pretty pissed when he saw me come into the office. I'm the Office Manager of a multi-million dollar Design/Build firm and I've embarrassed my coworkers and Owners. I feel so ashamed. Not only at my appearance but that I didn't realize just how bad this looks until I was out in natural light after I left (and after my husband and mother's jaws dropped when they saw me). They had me go ahead and pay $308.00!!! Even though my hair is a complete disaster and my employer suggested I work from home due to the unprofessional appearance I currently have! I should have stood up for myself more right then. I did refuse to pay the $60 increase they requested at checkout for "extra product" that was used on my hair. But I should have excused myself to really look at it before I left. I have an appointment on Saturday at their Roswell location with a master level colorist to try to fix this disaster. I'll update my review after Saturdays appointment. Wish me luck - I look like a fool. read more

I have come here twice and each time I've had my hair cut by Faye. She is fantastic! I like her a lot; she listens well and it is very easy to describe to her exactly what I want done. The salon itself is really nice, and, in fact, I am surprised at how well-priced it is because the inside looks so upscale. Getting an appointment is always very easy, too. I have gotten appointments same day, and they have good hours to accommodate most people's work schedules. The only reason that I am giving it 4 stars is because, as I mentioned earlier, I have only been there twice and don't want to jump the gun. However, I'm sure that I will upgrade it as I visit it more. Definitely give it a try! read more

I recently moved to the area from Ohio. I was with my stylist at home for more than 10 years, so I was reluctant to try somewhere new. Mitzi was wonderful. She took the time to ask questions and find out what I liked and wanted. She made suggestions and then went to work. I left the salon a better, refreshed version of myself. First experience: As soon as I sat down, the stylist (I'll call her "J") insulted my current color. I told her that was insulting and she apologized. I spent a few minutes discussing with her what I wanted (highlights and gray coverage). After she put all the foils etc, I asked her what about the rest of my head, and she replied that wasn't what I booked for. I told her I didn't know what I'd booked for (I can only assume I said highlights and coverage), but we'd specifically discussed what I wanted. She fixed it. Three hours there, but the result was fine. She spent the majority of the time I was there telling me really personal things about herself (which I really didn't care to hear) and rolling her eyes at the other stylists. When I needed my next color, I didn't have time to find a new place, and the color J did wound up fine so I rebooked. (Note that I told the front desk that I would take anyone but they put me with her saying she "knew" my hair.) I figured I'd just avoid speaking with her. Second visit: I brought a picture of what I wanted along with "what to tell your stylist." How could someone mess that up, right? J did some mixture of melting and highlights. I knew I was in trouble when she joked that I shouldn't ever ask her to recreate this. After 3 hours, she realized there was a mistake and fixed it. I was there almost 4.5 hours. When the cashier told me $300, I was surprised but so desperate to get out of there that I just paid it. She also tried to sell me a product that (when I later Googled) is for ethnic hair. As soon as I go in the car, I saw the big splotch of blonde next to my temple. I immediately called and they booked me time for J to fix it. As soon as I got home, I realized that my head had some weird cheetah print. I called the next day and told them my hair looked like I did it myself. That I wanted it fixed and I didn't want J to touch it. The reception person was super nice and tried to get me in. I could tell that she was genuinely concerned with my unhappiness. I told her that I wanted a re-do and expected a refund from whatever mess J did - that I had no idea what she charged me for. I was told the manager would call me. When I went in for my re-do, the stylist was great and I was happy with my hair. I was refunded $130 for whatever J charged me. As far as I'm concerned, she stole from me and this was no different that had she stuck her hand in my wallet. She was clearly trying to make me pay for her mistake. I asked them to have the manager call me. Never heard from the manager. I rebooked with the second stylist, but just canceled because the color that she did faded very quickly and I'm left with J's mess. (I think this is an Aveda product issue and not a salon issue.) My hair looks like straw. Note to management: when one of your stylists tries to rip off your clients, the very least you can do is call the person. Maybe even offer a complimentary haircut. Do SOMETHING. Maybe had I hear from you, you wouldn't have another negative review. On a positive note, I really like the overpriced paddle brush that I bought. read more

I had previously gone to this salon for a quick trim. Thanh fixed my layers after I had a bad experience at another salon and he did such a great job and communicated with me every step of the way so I decided to come back when my hair was long enough to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. However, Thanh had already moved on to another salon so I scheduled my next appointment with Jenny. I came in early so she would have plenty of time to cut my hair donation (8+ inches of hair!) and have a mini consultation for the color and the cut. The final result looks amazing. She took the time to create a unique color melt look for me, she said it was a mix of ombré and balayage techniques to get the black to brown look I wanted. The cut I asked for was a cute bob or long bob that matched with my face shape, I kept it fairly vague so she could work with the limited amount of hair after taking off my donation, and she exceeded my expectations! Thanh was amazing. I went for a big change after abusing my hair for over a year (color correction, bleach, blow dry and many more). My hair was very long with dry ends and uneven cut. Thanh did the impossible. My hair hasn't looked that healthy in years. He cut it pretty short and it looks great. He really took the time to understand what I want. He also gave me his very valuable advice regarding the cut and the aftercare. At the end he did exactly what I wanted but wasn't able to explain. I Love ERNEST Lawhon and this salon! I live about 2 hours away. I had grown out my hair and was in for a complete change so I gave Joseph & Friends a try after hearing about their donation to support Sjogrens Syndrome (a disease which I have). My appointment was with Earnest Lawhon (who is usually in the Roswell location). The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and asked me to wait. I had only waited a minute or so when I was told to turn around to be introduced to Earnest. WHAM! I was hit with a brilliant smile, a warm and inviting personality, and an openness that was disarming. I felt like I was the only one in the room the whole time. He gave my hair a total makeover that has since, literally, caused people's heads to snap back for a double-take. Exclamations of "your hair looks FANTASTIC!", "I love your hair!", "you look sooo much younger!" . I'm 48, pretty, and overweight. Not only did Earnest treat me like a beauty queen, but everyone else noticed as well. I could go on and on. I can't wait for my next appointment!
