After the wash, it was discovered they only had one of us down for the massage. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal but the lady that was working with me was so rude about it clearly annoyed. Their website advertises for the additional money you would get a 10 minute massage... it was less than 3 and I would not call it a massage. Add on the fact that I was pissed made it worse. The young lady that worked with my daughter was amazing and even apologized for the other ladies rudeness. This was my first time at a Drybar and I had a great first experience with Amber. She walked me through everything and each product that she was putting in my hair. My hair tends to hold dandruff sometimes and she was able to recognize this after my wash and brought me back to the shampoo bowl to ensure all the dandruffs were out before blow drying my hair. I signed up for the Barfly double membership today and look forward to coming back for my second blowout before the month ends. The salon is really cute and chic so that's a plus! I already told one of my friends about my experience and we plan to make a date out of my next appointment so she can try them out as well. read more

I had a great experience! One of the owners took the time to find out if I had been to DryBar before and as it was my first time, she showed me through the look book while I waited. I was seated and introduced to Jasmine who discussed what look I was going for. I told her she had creative freedom. She was smart and first analyzed my hair and how it laid, the natural part and then suggested the straight up and then add in curls or volume as we go. Jasmine took me to the back and I got an awesome shampoo. She was great to explain everything she was using and it's purpose. She also made sure the temperature of the water was comfortable for me. During this time Jasmine informed me of the membership options which actually sound great. We went back to her station and she began the drying process. As she used products she explained what they were, their benefits and the best ways to use them. I felt like I was getting an education on my hair while also having a blast. This review is long overdue but is definitely needed. Dry Bar, after an almost year long membership, has been an awful experience. My regular stylist was great! The complaint I have is about the stylists they have that I was assigned when my regular stylist was unavailable. I've treated family and friends to a blowout and NONE of them have enjoyed their hair being done. Long, claw like nails digging into their scalp during shampooing, not delivering on the style despite picking the style from their own book, curls lasting less than a couple of hours after leaving, and when you tell the manager, or the District Manager (Rita), her answer is to give you a free add on next time. Like you're literally telling her that the service you just paid for was below average and she wants you to come back again, spend $60 so you can get the $10-$15 add on for free Even higher management, despite hearing the feedback shared, have not stepped in to assist. The last straw was having my fill in stylist complain the whole time about how much hair I have and how long it's going to take while I was getting my hair done. And the shop manager (Susanna) was right there and didn't step in. Like how can I even go back after this? To top it off, parking at Avalon is an absolute pain. You have to get there much earlier to even find a spot and get to your appointment on time. It's not a good use of time at all. Fortunate to have found someone amazing who is providing great style and service with absolutely no attitude at all about my hair thickness and length. I have been to many different Drybars and loved them and this was no exception. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted and checked in and offered a drink. I chose hot tea. My stylist took me back and discussed the style I wanted then gave me an amazing shampoo. When I got back to my chair my tea was waiting. While getting my blowout there was a cute RomCom on the tv to keep me entertained. My stylish was very friendly and had great conversation. I always love my blowouts and they usually will last me 5 days. My only downside is getting appointments here can be challenging. They are always booked so make sure you book well in advance if you need a blowout for an event. Also- parking is always a challenge at Avalon so allow yourself time before your appointment to park. read more

I absolutely love DryBar! The couple times I've visited has been for a yelp event, but I'm definitely gonna go there more often. Their philosophy is simple: No cuts. No color. Just blowouts. My stylist was amazing!! Unfortunately, I forgot her name!! First stop is the wash room (a.k.a heaven) where they use different products including On The Rocks DryBars new shampoo line. I'm so impressed by the smell and the texture these products left on my hair. God bless their hands too. I forgot where I was and who I was while she was washing my hair LOL. She took me back to the Blowout stations where they have a catalog with different hair styles you could choose from. I chose Mai Tai "Effortless, messy, beachy hair." and it was a good choice. She also used some other products to keep the curls on and everything smelled amazing. We were offered a choice of Champagne, Mimosa, sweet tea, or water. I went with the mimosa and it was amazing.. My favorite products were On the Rocks shampoo and conditioner, and triple sec which is a 3 in 1 spray. I think I will be purchasing the full sizes soon. I love DryBar!! I'm one of those people who cannot style their hair for the life of them so when I discovered DryBar I knew I was saved from having to style my hair myself for parties and special events. This place IS awesome and would have kept my rating at 5 stars if not for a few new things. I've been coming here about once a month for over a year (and drive from Lawrenceville to the Avalon, so you know that 45 min drive must be worth it!) The service here is great, the stylists are super friendly and listen to your requests. The pictures below are the 'Mai Tai' style, one of several popular styles to choose from. The full blowout WAS $45 up until a few weeks ago when they updated their app, and it WAS fairly easy to get an appointment...again up until a few weeks ago. Now the price for a blow out is $49 (ok let's just say $50 not including tip, don't make us think we're getting a deal paying one dollar under $50 DryBar ) and I cannot get an appointment on any Saturday for the next 3 months. I get that the holidays are here, but that influx of customers needs to be expected and stylists hired and scheduled accordingly. In addition, I'm sorry but $50 for a blowout is too high in my opinion. I do love my style and it holds well, but it's literally a shampoo, blow dry and curls. With a 20% tip- that's $60. I can get my hair actually CUT, blow dried and styled for $60. Their dry-style option has increased too- from $25 to $35! This basically entails just coming in with your hair washed and dried and then having them curl it. Okay...for $35??! It's a 25 min process! I think DryBar is a great concept, deserving of 5 stars but with these price hikes and inability to get a weekend appointment, I had to go down to 3. I understand that it's in the high end, super bougie Avalon location as well and it seems like they're just trying to keep up with what they know people will pay for, so again it's understandable. AND I'll probably keep coming back (if I can get an appointment!)....would just love some kind of discount options (NOT being a BarFly-can't do that if I can't get a guaranteed appointment), reconsideration of these price hikes or something else to ensure you feel like you're really getting your $60+ experience. A lot of previous reviews mention sipping mimosas during their blowout? Not sure if they've done away with this practice now but in the year I've been coming, I've never been offered a beverage. Quick summary - I was hesitant to try the salon because of my hair texture and experience with heat damage at the hands of "professionals". The staff at Drybar were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They listened to my desires and gave me a cute "do" in under an hour. If I ever need a quick blowout & style for an event, I would definitely consider Drybar. Bonus - it's pretty inexpensive! Let's set the stage: I'm a black Napturalista who has heard of, but never been to, Drybar and rarely subject my hair to heat in fear of heat damage. So I had my guard up before walking into this establishment. So much so that I called the main number to ask about the stylists' knowledge of natural, ethnic hair. I was told that all of the stylist are well versed in all hair types and I had nothing to worry about. Yeah right, as someone who has put their hair in the "trusted hands of professionals" to end up with root to tip heat damage, I was still skeptical. Drybar is located in the trendy Avalon shopping center with easy access from North Fulton or Gwinnett County locations. Upon entering, the business was very vibrant with light chatter and overall welcoming appeal. All of the staff that I interacted with were pleasant and seemed to enjoy their work environment. Of course, to quote my fears, I yet again asked about the stylists' knowledge of caring for my hair type, and received the same response with a smile. After being offered a beverage of choice, I patiently waited for my stylist to greet me and for the fun to begin. Out comes Krystal with a little slip that had my name on it and off to the back we go. With my glass of white wine in hand, Krystal sat me down, explained the process and styling options and then whisked me to the shampoo station. The charcoal shampoo (can't remember the actual name) smelled nice and did not feel too harsh on my hair, she followed up with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner before heading back to the styling area. I asked her not to use too much heat and explained that I didn't need my hair to be perfect, as I was just there for an event and had no intention of my style lasting longer than 24 hours. Krystal listened to my requests, kept the heat low but worked to make sure my hair looked well styled. As we chatted away about NY, hair and Drybar, I was able to get a good understanding of why some people frequent this place. Less than 1 hour from the time she greeted me, Krystal washed, conditioned, blew dry and lightly flat ironed my hair. For someone who hates spending hours in a salon, this made me happy. Due to my hair's very fine nature, the curls started to drop as expected and just as I originally planned, the next day I washed and deep conditioned my hair after a great workout. Thankfully, my curls bounced right back! {happy dance} Krystal gets 4.5 stars for her awesome service, professionalism, knowledge and amazing scalp massage. Plus no heat damage!! This was my first experience at Dry Bar, and really at any salon blow-out place. I rarely have my hair cut let alone done and styled. My sisters wedding was yesterday and I downloaded the app a while back, made my appt and I was set. It was really easy and I have to give the company props for making that part of my experience seamless and user friendly. I went to my appt, there were cookies at the check in, yum! I was escorted to the hair-wash room and the stylist took my coat and hung it up. She explained to me about how they wash the hair before they style it. I was unsure about that process because my hair is soft and fine and I was worried that with freshly washed hair, my beach-waves would not stay(as they have not in the past). I expressed my concern and told her that I had one day old hair with just coming from a workout and maybe that would do better than washing it. She again assured me that the products would hold the style for my event later that night. Daisy did an amazing job, my hair was better than I had ever seen it look. She made sure to add lots of product and made the curls tight so if they fell later it would be the right kind of wave. I was really happy. And this is where I'm not sure about how many stars is appropriate for this review. I hopped in my car, got home less than 20 mins later and all my hairstyle had fallen out. I was wrecked about it. With no time to worry about it I had to make my way to the venue and get dressed and ready for pictures. I had my friend bring her wand and hairspray and she re-did my whole head before photo time. I am very disappointed. $45 for the service and $20 in tip, I was happy when I left. Now, I am not sure I can be confident recommending Dry Bar or any blowout service. read more

I like this place. I definitely wouldn't come here all the time (just too much $), but it is great for those special occasions when you want you hair to look great! I opted for the Cosmo look ( loose curls), and told my stylist that I would like some volume & explained my fine hair falls out pretty easy. She listened & gave me what I was looking for. Since my hair falls out, she did not brush the curls out--which I guess they normally do. My style lasted as expected throughout the day & for my engagement pictures. My only gripe was that my appointment started about 15 min late--which just pushed back my timeline a little bit. Fortunately it wasn't that big of a deal this time--but if you have a tight schedule that could mess it up. Came here for a friends 30th birthday to start off her day. It was a great experience, but unfortunately two of the three hairdos (all cosmos) were flat within two hours. I know some hair doesn't hold well, but with enough hair spray I've never had that issue. Normally my hair will hold curls into the next day. Regardless it was still fun, but maybe add some extra hair spray before you leave. Atmosphere: Because it's located in Avalon you already have a bit of the classy feel and it's a special salon designated to blow outs. You feel special here. It's all white with some yellow, it's very chic and happy. They offer water, coffee, tea, mimosas, and champagne. They definitely make you feel comfortable. My favorite part was that all of the Drybars use the same DJ (I believe her name is Sarah) to make the playlist so no matter which salon you'll be listening to good music. She's got great taste and it really fits the vibe of the salon. Least favorite.. you could see the ring of residue products around the salon seat. Especially if the seat moved it was a very clear half moon of product. But I guess that is bound to happen with how many hair styles they do in a day. Price: I have attached a copy of the prices. Regular blowout prices and additional $10 if you want braids. They also offer deep conditioning. Staff: They were all a treat. Everyone of them was super friendly and made you feel at ease. I've been here twice now and both employees did well. The first time I received a great head massage at the bowl and the second time reminded me more of the way my grandma did my hair which was a pleasant memory. Personally I don't mind a little bit rougher. Some people have sensitive scalps and the staff made sure to ask if they were pulling to hard, etc. Parking. There is a parking garage behind drybar and between Whole Foods that is the closest or there is meter parking just a little down from the location. A salon dedicated just for blow drying? How amazing is that! I loved my experience here at Dry Bar. From the ambience to the kind staff and service, I liked it. Although I had an appointment at 6:15, I was made to wait for 15 mins cos the stylists were busy attending to other clients. Since I didn't have to be anywhere, I didn't mind waiting. I was offered champagne and some wine. I really appreciate that. I opted for the Mai-Tai with a scalp massage. While I felt the shampooing was done to perfection, I felt the massage wasn't up to the mark. I paid an extra $10 for that. It was for probably 5 mins. I really felt it could've been longer. The seating was such that there wasn't a mirror in front of me..so I couldn't really see the magic that was happening. So I got to see my hair only after she finished with it and it was amazing!! Stephanie who was my stylist for the day did a great job. I've never seen my hair look like that. And it smelt great - the products that was used. The beachy wavy curls stayed for two days which I didn't expect. There was not too much of hair spray that was used and I'm so glad. The pricing is great, considering the place is posh and was inside Avalon. It came to a flat $50 ($40 for the blow dry which includes hair wash and $10 for the massage). I would go back to Dry Bar, definitely. But I wouldn't go for the scalp massage. read more

I'm 50/50 on this location. It's one of the few blow out bars near me but I feel like it's hit or miss. Sometimes my hair looks fantastic and lasts days. Sometimes it looks great walking out and falls within the hour. I let them know I wasn't happy after my last visit and I appreciated the manager reaching out to me to schedule a free blowout with a senior stylist. The stylist did a great job.
