As a long time patient of 9 years I have to say the entire staff is so friendly , helpful and really care about their patients . When I go for my appointments I always leave satisfied with the service . The Optician is so helpful and is absolutely wonderful . She goes Above and beyond to help with your questions .. Last weekend, I experienced an eye injury. I thought that it was simply dust particles however on Sunday my right eye was swollen and completely red. I immediately went to urgent care. The physician washed my eye and told me that I had scratched my cornea. "Make an appt for tomorrow with your primary physician and use these drops" he stated. The following day, my PPO allowed me to contact a specialist and I was referred to Dr. Hsu (given a list). Luckily I was able to obtain an appt. that day. Dr. Hsu examined me and found that the dust particle was actually some rust (metal) that was still imbedded in my cornea. He then performed eye surgery to remove the debris. He explained the seriousness of the injury and the infection that was developing. I cannot thank him enough for saving my eye. My vision is steadily improving. Dr. Hsu is a decent physician but there is no sense of customer service or value for money here. I would not recommend getting your glasses or contacts ordered here period. I ordered my glasses from this office and the lady in charge (Trudy) ordered the wrong color and then lied about it the next day when I called to confirm. When my mom ordered her glasses, Trudy was not there for 3 weeks and the front desk person flatly told us there was no replacement person to fit the glasses for her and that the ophthalmologist was not capable of doing this for us. She also refused to give us a hard cover case for them when we spent hundreds of dollars. Save your time, money, and energy and go to Warby Parker. read more

I FOUND THIS DOCTOR ON ZOCDOC.COM!!! ABSOLUTELY WORST PLACE EVER THAT I HAVE SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION!!! I wouldn't recommend this office due to my experience!!!! The doctor was out of this world Rude to me!!! His unprofessional behavior made me feel as if he had a friend take some exams for him, did some under the table bull or some incompetent teacher allowed him to pass a test to become a doctor. I feel this man is very nasty and clueless about communicating with his patient. This man came into the room with a dirty lab coat on and began to ask me about my visit. I answered all of his questions and he reached into his dirty pocket and pulled out this little bottle of solution (I assume). He took the top off the bottle and it caught my attention because the bottle was so dirty!!!!!! i was thinking to myself what the hell is that?? Before I knew it this man had the nerve to put his sweaty hand on my head and pushed it back to attempt to put this unknown product in my eye. yes you read right!!!! This man didn't tell me what he was going to do or what the name of the product was or why it was even necessary!! I immediately stopped him from touching my head and asked him what was the product and to please communicate with me on what he was doing. This man response to me was in an aggressive tone "oh you never had an exam done before?" So after hearing that ignorant response I immediately got up and left the room! I demanded a full refund for this complete waste of time and couldn't wait to get some time to tell anyone who is seeking help for their vision about MY unacceptable experience at this place. read more

The office staff had scheduled me for a yearly exam, last year. I had my appointment card with the date & time written on it. The receptionist was on the phone while I was at the window counter trying to sign/check in. The sign-in clipboard was off the counter..she whispered "he's not in". I said "I have an appointment" and I showed her the card. She ended her call and said "he's in surgery this morning." I said "so why wouldn't call me to cancel my appointment?" She stated "maybe they blocked out his schedule and forgot call you." She asked for my name and I gave it..she said she showed no appointment scheduled for me. I said how does that happen? She said "I don't even know who's handwriting this is (on the appointment card) she said you could reschedule".. I suppose I could, but I don't think so...I'll find a doctor that can keep better appointment books. Goodbye Dr. Hsu Very aggravating, and unprofessional. read more

I have been seeing Dr Hsu for about 2-1/2 years now it all started when I got some chemical in my eye my first impression of Dr Hsu was he was a very serious man but very professional he listens to your situation and answers all your questions and concerns what I like about Dr Hsu is how he handled my situation of being diabetic after treating my eye when I first visited him since I havent had a check up for awhile on my eyes I went ahead and followed up with him and he found some complications caused by my diabetes he was honest and serious about my condition and he started treating my conditions with out hesitation to where he suggested that I get a procedure called canaloplasty and for me to have the procedure done I needed to have a physical and while getting that physical my EKG came out abnormal to where I had to have heart surgery so I want to say thank you Dr Hsu for not only saving my eye sight you also saved my life and I want to thank his great staff Trutti and Gina for all their help so for all you people that say you wait long before being seen be patient cause he is worth the wait again Dr Hsu My family and I want to thank you for all you have done read more

I have been going on regular eye check ups for my retinitis pigmentosa with dr Hsu since 2010. He is a great doctor if it wasn't for him I would've probably died he read my MRI and saw I had an aneurysm an MRI which radiologist had read and said in report I had nothing and he also referred me to one of his colleagues at USC where i got 2 surgeries and finally clipped I am really grateful for his dedication to really help out his patients beyond his field and up to today I still continue to see him every 4 mo. For RP and I really think he is one of the greatest eye doctor so if your looking for an eye dr I recommend you give him a try . As a patient for 8years all the staff in there is really nice and understanding of all conditions. read more

WARNING!!! Will Steal Your Money.....Worst...Worst...Worst ophthalmologist office to visit...Do Not go Here..Waste of time..If i could put no Stars I would.. I was interested in getting corrective eye surgery done on my eyes so I was going to several Ophthalmologist for free consultations of LASIK to see which office would best fit my needs because my eyes are very important to me and I wanted to make sure I choose the right doctor to perform my surgery. I visited Dr. Joseph Hsu's Optometry Office for a free consultation for Lasik surgery. Like every office I went to they asked for my insurance information and for me to fill out some paperwork so they could get general information about my vision. I was told by the office staff the evaluation would establish if I was a good candidate for the procedure. My initial impression of the office was poor. The interior was dusty and worn with outdated equipment. The lack of cleanliness at the location immediately made me feel this was not the location where I would entrust something as precious as my vision. I had the evaluation done which was an examination of my eyes and information about the procedure. I was told they do the old procedure and was told by Dr. Hsu that the new equipment wasn't worth the price and that the procedure they do is still accurate. This explanation was given to explain all of the old equipment in the office. I later learned his evaluation was not free as I had been told. I learned this when I made an appointment for my annual exam and was advised that I had already completed my annual eye exam with Dr. Hsu. I called to discuss the matter with the staff and asked how they do their free consultations and was advised that they must complete an eye exam first to determine if I was a good candidate, how ironic. I then explained to them my issue and that I did not authorize them to charge my insurance for an eye exam and that I came in for a free consultation. I was then transferred to Trudy whom is in charge of billing. Trudy told me that they would not have charged me for what they now called an eye exam if I had the Lasik procedure done there. Trudy informed me that in an effort to resolve my dispute I had to talk to the doctor I waited for a call from the doctor and never received one. I called the office again and asked for a copy of the paperwork related to the exam. Trudy said the cost for the paperwork would be $15.00. I agreed to the $15.00 charge because when I dispute the matter with my insurance I wanted the copies to prove I was there for a free Lasik exam. And since the office clearly needed the money because they charged my insurance without my consent the first time I agreed to the $15 dollar charge for my records. Well since I was so dissatisfied with the customer service by the doctor and the staff I decided to visit the office to collect my paperwork and talk to the doctor face to face since he never had the courtesy to call me back. Upon my arrival Stacy was the receptionist and she told me Dr. Hsu was unavailable because he was with patients I said I would wait to speak to him since he never returned my call. Stacy then lied. She changed her story and said no one else was in the office. It became obvious that the doctor was now unavailable because he really didn't want to discuss the matter because he knew he was wrong. I waited at the office until closing and despite clients coming and going Dr. Hsu never had time to speak with me. The last client that was there confirmed the doctor was still in the office. So I asked to make an appointment to meet on another day with Dr. Hsu. Stacy was about to give me an appointment but went to the back to discuss with the people who were obviously in the back. She came back again stating Dr. Hsu was gone. Trudy came to the front. I said I wanted an appointment and then Trudy said I couldn't make one. I said I was just given two options for an appointment time and now I was being informed I could not make an appointment at all. Stacy and Trudy both stated that my insurance was already used. I responded again that this charge to my insurance was not done with my authorization but I offered to pay out of pocket for an appointment so I could speak to Dr. Hsu. They still refused any further appointments. There is a lack of professionalism with this practice. The staff while initially pleasant proved to be rude and uncooperative. So now I have no prescription for my eyes this year because this yearly exam they said they conducted never even gave me a vision prescription. This is not a facility that I would recommend because who knows how many other patients they have charged without their permission or consent. And if they do unauthorized insurance charges who knows what they will do with your eyes. You Have Been Warned!!!! read more

I would highly recommend Dr. Hsu he is very profession and explains what going on with your eyes, in my case I was recommend from another ophthalmologist. After his special instructions my eye clear up from the eye infection. FIVE STARS read more
