He is by far the best primary care doctor I've ever had. He really knows his field and is very knowable, cares about his patients, and is easy to talk to. He is really into fitness, health, and doesn't want to just push medication on you. He really pays attention to your health preferences and medical history to fully understand the full story of who you are and caters to your needs. He really is the doctor that talks the talk and walks the walk. If you have any questions about anything he'll answer them or refer you to another professional that can. He respects you when you would like to be referred to another health professional and will refer you as needed or upon request. I can't recommend him enough thought I don't want the secret to get out so that I can have an easier time getting in to see him. He came across as deeply curious, a good listener, and a problem solver. He has an easy-going, affable, and approachable personality. I appreciate the fact that we share the same philosophy on health maintenance. He is far from the pill-pushing doctors that are far too common in the medical field. Instead, he understands the underlying factors that contribute to illness. He encourages smart lifestyle choices (stress reduction, healthy diet, proper sleep, and regular exercise) to stave off chronic illness and help live a happy and healthy life. Very engaging in conversation in a genuinely personable way. The most complete primary care physician I've ever had provide care. Oddly enough my son blazed the trail. After a less than positive experience with another provider my son landed with Dr. Cepeda. After taking my son to more than a handful of appointments it was clear I wanted the same care my son was receiving. To date it's been all that and more. I believe that even though his practice was full I was able to get on the roster of patients. My only negative to share is the periodic lack of timely appointments. Given the level of care provided it's certainly understandable why things can get busy and appointments booked up. Fortunately there are other physicians that share the variable seasonal load in a way that I'm never unable to get appropriate care in a timely manner. The medical staff that works with doctor are entirely top notch. Over the years staff comes and goes but the current roster is outstanding. I'm so pleased with my care that I don't even have a hint of interest in making a change at any point. After a very short wait she was back in a private exam room and we were all set. Care quality was excellent. I have had a fair amount of success here over the years. Wait was definitely shorter and not many patients. After checking in at the front, I was immediately brought into the exam room. Within a few minutes, NP Thao Giang came in. Thao was very professional. She showed concerns and answered all my questions. After the examinations, she prescribed me antibiotics. Thao and the staff were very friendly. I definitely would come back here again if i am sick and do not want to wait a long time at an urgent care :)

Adj: Impersonal When…read moreI saw Dr. Lao, she was actually working for UC Davis, and it was an ok experience, perhaps b/c I saw her during the pandemic (2022) just for a physical (I was not ill at the time of the appt), she was very cautious or something, but she definitely kept her distance and exuded cold vibes... I can think back and chuckle now, but certainly you may not want that from a primary care physician. She did the routine questions and answers, listened to my heart and lungs, look into my ears, all the typical things, and then we were pretty much done. I mostly just go to physicals once a year and get my labs (use my benefits) and that's all. I keep pretty healthy and do my due diligence w/exercise and try to be balanced w/my diet and nutrition, so that I *won't* have to see any doctor if I can help it. Don't forget "an apple a day keeps the doctor away!" =P
