I bought a brand new 2012 Jetta TDI sportswagen from them. Purchasing was a great process and the guy was super helpful. However, almost immediately it showed a check engine light. I brought it in probably 15 times on top of the scheduled maintenance for this issue and each time they said they had no idea what was wrong and had just turned the light off. This persisted over 2 years, just until the warranty was up. Then when I brought it in to sell it ( I was moving out of state ) they offered 5k below what it was worth! I was told "Why would we pay more for a car with a check engine light?" WHAT!?!?!? I HAD BEEN IN THERE SO MANY TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT I KNEW ALL OF THEIR NAMES!!! Absolutely unbelievable. Update to my earlier review...... Over the past two weeks, Tim (GM) has seemed to take more interest in my reported issue. He answered my relentless calling, which is more than some dealers would have done perhaps. However, I still wasn't happy about having to waste my time trying to fix one of their problems. Going through a 1-800 # is never what an already frustrated customer wants to do, however it did finally net me something more than an "I'm sorry" after a weeks worth of afternoon phone calls. This may be VW protocol, but It needs to improve to better serve the consumer. Finally, after settling with VW of America, I contacted Northland to see what they would do to rectify the problem. While they did offer a month's payment, they did so begrudgingly, and only after I requested two months payment. Overall, dealing with Northland was pretty frustrating, but I'm not sure how much help any dealer would have been in this case. Thanks Tim for your help. Bottom line, while this problem was extremely frustrating, I absolutely love my new car. read more

This dealership sold me a car for which I paid top dollar because the Carfax Report (they provided indicated it had not been in any accidents. Now that the rear bumper has been removed for bodywork, there is ample evidence that the car was, in fact previously in an accident, it was poorly repaired (something about how the paint was taken down), and was put together incorrectly with parts missing. I called the Sales Manager who refuses to help with the additional costs I will incur to have it repaired correctly. In fact, Bill Cullen suggested that I shake down ( my term not his) the current body shop and tell them I will take it elsewhere if they don't fix it at no additional cost. Pretty sleezy! This dealership does not stand by their claims and I suggest that the buyer beware! read more

Repeat VW owners here. This review is for new vehicle sales customer service. I would like to offer Suzanne, the internet manager, my utmost thanks for her help. Since our hard-to-come-by new Beetle "fell through" at another dealership (one we thought we had secured as ours had actually been sold to another customer - unbeknownst to us for several weeks), Suzanne took on the task of finding us another one. While she was able to locate one for us, the time frame was a longer wait than we were hoping. Suzanne went above and beyond (texts, phone calls, emails) to lead me in the right direction in order to have us secure the car we wanted in the timeframe we wanted from another VW dealership, even though she didn't profit from it whatsoever. Now, that is putting the customer first! I appreciate Suzanne's transparency, honesty, and care! I'd do business with them anytime. read more

By far the best VW dealership in Cincinnati, Ohio. I say this with great truth being a VW lover and a gearhead this is where I take my VW. I trust the service department with my car on any repairs that I don't do myself. I have several friends who work at this dealership that I certainly trust working on my car. Although this is not the largest dealership in the area so you might not get the best price when buying a new car but the service makes up for it. read more

In my twenty-some years of owning cars (mostly older models) and having them serviced, Northland is the best garage I've ever visited. In fact, when I replaced my aging Passat in 2006 with a Toyota, I was sad because Northland doesn't service Toyotas. Two things impress me the most about Northland. First, is they take the time to really find out what's wrong rather than simply swapping parts until the problem goes away. When the distributer went out on my Eurovan, the only symptom was that sometimes it wouldn't start. They kept in the shop for over a week until they could reproduce the problem so that they could try to diagnose it while it was happening. While inconvenient for me, this is really the only real way to figure out an intermittent problem. The other thing that impressed me is that they would often take steps to save me money. For example, I had a problem with air flow regulator. They told me that it would eventually need to be replaced but that they took it off, cleaned it up as much as they could and put it back on and that I might be able to get another six months or a year out of it before a new one was absolutely required. Unfortunately I moved out of the Cincinnati area in 2008. Every time I take my Eurovan in for service and get gouged by one of the VW service shops out here in Maryland, I miss the good folks at Northland. They really are a friendly bunch and the mechanics know what they're doing. read more

UPDATE: Our conversation over the phone was not such good a experience due to miscommunication. Even though I wasn't happy about what I heard, I took my car to Joseph VW of Cincinnati. First of all shuttle service is amazing, driver is a very nice guy. When I was directed to the register to make payments, I was told that I didn't have to pay the full amount (which i was trying to explain on the phone) because I have free oil change service (I got it when I purchased my car from Joseph VW Cincinnati). I paid the amount that I supposed to pay so I am happy now. Finally I have to say that they are really good at what they do, all of the mechanics know about VWs. After the service my Beetle runs like when I started the engine for the first time. read more

I would not recommend Northland VW dealership for auto repairs. I have a 2.5 yr old VW Tiguan and it has had issues starting and the engine light has been on for the past 4 months. After 3 trips to the VW dealership and more than $300 down the drain, it still wasn't fixed and the dealership didn't know what the issue was. They told me the next step was to do maintenance work on it that would cost me another $800! Since I didn't feel confident in their diagnosis, I took it to an independent auto shop, who had been recommended to me by a local car parts store near me. Within a day, they had diagnosed and fixed the issue and I haven't had any trouble with the car since they fixed it 2 weeks ago. They also let me know there was an open recall on a car part, that the dealership hadn't told me anything about! read more

I only have experience with the service department, but I could not be happier. These guys are straightforward, no pressure and timely with repairs. Once I took the car in for a mysterious issue, and the time spent to diagnose was incredible with no charge to me. Another time some work was done on an older VW and, later, it was discovered by the Northland folks that a warranty was still good on it. They sent me a check. read more

I recently wrote a pretty merciless review of this service center. I will admit it was not my best moment as a consumer, the issues were legitimate but I think I was a little over critical in not amending the review sooner. Sortly after I posted the review I received a call from Mr. Mooreman (I may have spelt that wrong) the service manager, her voiced very sincere apologies for the issues I had run into and bent over backwards to make it right. What really blew me away though about my conversation with Mr. Mooreman was that the remedy he offered was better than I would have ever expected from any company and that he took the time to note that he was not doing it to ensure my continued patronage but because it was the objectively right thing to do. I was a little dumbfounded at the sincerety of the apology and his willingness not only to admit that a mistake had been made but to do everything he could to make it right. I really think that a good measure of a company is not just that mistakes don't happen frequntly, but that when they do the company steps up and corrects them. This is something that Northland did and because of it will have my continued patronage. read more

Shady salespeople. Fiance's car mileage was over the previous lease. Salesman said this location would not charge for extra miles if our lease was extended on a newer model. He mentioned that they would pay us back the overage of miles, so we could cover the additional charges. Once the old car was received by the main VW lease hub, $2K was charged to us. The Sales person incorrectly calculated the mileage and cut a check way below the overage. He failed to review the mileage on the vehicle and calculate all overages on previous contract. Basically, acted all nonchalant about the mileage and pushed us to make a purchase. We were sold something on false pretenses on aggressive sales tactics. We called this dealership and had zero help. Never trust a sales guy's math!!! We will never use this location, buy or lease a VW again. The sales people lie like the corporation did about their gas emissions. Will share our experience with friends, families, or anyone else in the area. read more
