This is the definition of a hole in the wall but this hole has been here for 25 years quietly serving the industrial complex it resides in as well as the neighborhood if they're lucky enough to find it. From the outside it looks like another industrial shop but when you open the doors you're transported to a country cafe! My father REALLY enjoyed the westerns playing on the tv while I liked the garden vegetables for sale located at the front door. The staff was incredibly warm and friendly. We came for a late breakfast but the family was intrigued by the lunch menu. I got the corned beef hash while the rest of my family got burgers. We were all victorious because it was all delicious! Corned Beef Hash - 10 Best I've had. in-house made corned beef grilled to a crisp but still moist inside. Portions were a bit small but I was almost full after eating it. Bacon Cheeseburger - 9 Standard flavor but well seasoned and juicy burger made it amazing. Chili Burger - 8 Pretty decent chili atop a delicious burger That's about all there is to this dish. Patty Melt - 9 I loved the rye bread and juicy burger. Crispy yet soft bread. French Fries - 8 Krinkle fries but not as crispy as I'd like. Pasta Salad - 8 Pretty good option if you don't want fried foods. Everything was very good here. We will be back for breakfast and lunch! Great find!!!! read more

Ate here today for lunch with my daughter. Amazing customer service, very friendly staff and obviously a big local spot. We both ordered a burger and blessedly they were able to accommodate our request for lettuce wrapped instead of with a bun. Prices were amazing! Able to feed both of us for less than $20 which is something you can rarely find now. The ambience was a bit odd for our taste. Tucked back in an industrial area, we felt weird walking in and were surprised by the inside. Decor was mismatched, but homey. Overall, it's a quaint little place. Unfortunately, it was strangely, quite humid and tables a bit sticky. Not the biggest deal. The main reason it's a three star instead of higher is because the food was subpar. Burgers were really greasy and didn't have much flavor. The menu was small and didn't have any lighter/healthier options. If I came here again, it would be to support local businesses , not because of the food. read more

This is the most affordable "real food" and what I love the most is it's family owned! Miss G and Uncle Jose are great people and are so welcoming. It was easily the best breakfast experience I've had in a long time. This looks like all the other industrial warehouses in the area, but do not be fooled... the food is outstanding, and the owner is a unique, friendly, and dedicated human. In between making the orders Jose turned and talked with me as I sat at the counter. He explained how he has been running the business for 26 years with his wife. She ran around helping customers, and accepting payment. He steadily worked the grill. The conversation I had with Jose was memorable. We talked about things like gardening, bison, Montana, and his business. His attitude was so laid back and genuine... I got the feeling that he really enjoys his work... which is wonderful being that he has been at it for 26 years. I ordered bacon and eggs with sourdough toast. The food was quality breakfast fare. A couple tables of regular customers chatted behind me and helped themselves to the coffee pot for refills... so I did too. This was a small, family atmosphere place. Nothing corporate about it. The kind of atmosphere I would eat my breakfast in any time I am given the chance. Thank you Jose for the friendly banter and quality food. Your establishment is a diamond in the rough. Poor gae Jose's wife is injured and has a hard time getting around, so everybody pitches in and helps with the coffee in the water and the refills , the busing everyone's glad to do it!! Doesn't look like much in the outside, but turns out Josè's is nice little hole-in-the-wall restaurant/diner. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was neat and well-kept, even though it's small. We the two specials of the day: the tamale pie and the green chili burger. This place is a gem. Hidden in the back of an industrial complex, they're only open for breakfast and lunch (till 2p), closed on the weekends. Friendly service, great food. Oh, and very reasonably priced. I failed to take a picture of the menu but I was surprised to see a patty melt for under $6. Fat kid friendly by the way, not off the kids menu. The place is cozy, and I'm told it fills up at lunchtime. Well worth a visit. Or multiple. read more

I stopped several times since we moved to Shastina Ranch and they were closed because I didn't know their hours. The owners are the sweetest people ever and if you like lumpia....this is the place to go! Best ever! If you haven't tried lumpia, it's a Filipino version of an egg roll, but WAY better! My husband loved the hamburger I brought home for him and prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend and I will certainly be back many times. Hard to find, but well worth searching for. This is a late review of this place. We had our lunch here over 2 years ago, and I forgot to review this place on yelp. Although its been a while, I remember the couple was very nice. Their menu for filipino dishes were small, but once the female found out that we were Filipino, she asked us what we wanted and they cooked it for us, even though what we asked for was not on their menu. My husband and I stopped in today for breakfast. All I can say is YUM! I ordered the Denver Omelet and my Husband ordered Corned Beef Hash. They were both amazingly tasty - you could taste every ingredient! It wasn't just something thrown together. My omelet was hot until the last bite - which never happens at larger restaurants. We discovered the place by Googling for a Filipino restaurant. The restaurant is family owned by Filipino family. That's probably why this diner popped out in the results of "Filipino restaurants." It's located within a plaza of industrial warehouses. The place could be missed if it's not Googled or mentioned by witd of mouth. Owners were very friendly and courteous. Majority of the food were actually American, except for the lumpias. Food were cooked fresh. You can actually see your food being cooked from your table because there was no divider blocking the kitchen. Our family visited Redding on a trip therefore we only got to eat there once before we left for our town. From the outside of the restaurant, it looked small and I expected there would be little space to sit. Then, when we entered there were actually vacant tables and spacious enough for party of seven to eat. Although we used two separate tables adjacent to each other. It was late morning (11-ish) at the time and the place didn't seem busy which was good. read more

No soap in the restroom :( double cheeseburger was reported as very good and the patty melt was good. Fries were good. It was 100 degrees outside so the diner was a bit warm. OK. i was in redding for work and craving lumpia like silly. lo and behold, jose's! i was beyond excited that a filipino spot is in redding. i was saddened that other than lumpia, filipino food wasn't on the menu. i was later told that the pinoy specialties are, well, especially served on fridays. although i was initially disappointed that my order of lumpia would not be accompanied by a filipino main course, i was delighted by the salisbury steak that i ordered as my replacement. simple, down-home diner, blue plate special-type dish (albeit served on a white plate) that would comfort many a weary traveler. the hamburger was cooked perfectly, with juicy chunks of ground beef sealed by a healthy ladleful of brown gravy. nothing fancy, just steak, mashed potatoes, corn and garlic bread; but oh, how my soul felt filled afterwards. the attentiveness of the staff and warm interactions with the regular patrons made my experience here quite pleasant. i will definitely make my way back, hopefully on a friday... read more

I have been going to Jose's diner off and on for about 15 years now and all the places raise a little here and there as the economy changes their quality and portions have never suffered they are always consistent and good it is family owned and that is how they treat you they are an awesome restaurant and I really enjoy their pepper jack Burgers a lot they also make fantastic Denver omelettes exact I would venture to say that everything they make is tasty none of its greasy the restaurant is decently clean none of the customers are ever grumpy or noxious it's a really good restaurant and I've enjoyed eating there over the years and I hope to enjoyed eating there for many more years they're only open from 6 a.m. to they're only open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. but that's okay and I believe they are closed on Sunday and Monday but I'm telling you you won't find a better place to get a family meal and really good burgers as well read more

My fiance and I went in and were sat, both got a coffee and looked over the menus. Decided pretty quickly what we wanted, but the server didn't come to our table until my coffee was almost gone. Which she then took our order, and didn't ask if I'd like more coffee but was extremely helpful to her regular patrons coming and leaving. Seemed as though we weren't there. I tried to ask the waitress and her host for more coffee multiple times with no response. Finally when she heard me she didn't even respond right away. Then we saw her put our omelettes into the microwave and reheat them both before bringing them to our table. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette with onion which was WAY to hot to eat, and was rubbery. My fiance got a Denver omelette and it was also to hot to eat and had mushrooms (which she hates and don't come in a Denver). We both ordered sourdough toast, got warm bread. Sadly, we both left hungry. We will definitely not be returning or recommending to anyone...a sad first visit. read more
