Stopped in for a cinnamon roll and it was way way too sweet. It took a while to order as well. Last time we went there, the corned beef hash was way too salty. Food needs some improvement. read more

Breakfast had all the usuals, really good prices for NorCal / Southern Oregon. Service was excellent and attentive, refills were no problem. Ambiance is like an old-school diner, but it was fine. Definitely stopping here again! read more

I am new to Redding and looking for a regular breakfast diner. I tried Country Kitchen. I ordered over-medium eggs which came out cooked hard, the sausage was so tough I had to use a steak knife to cut, hash browns were burned. Coffee and toast were OK. Service was good but it took 30 minutes to cook a simple breakfast. I'm hoping I Hop (Apple Bees) is reopened soon. I've never had a bad breakfast from them in Tyler Texas where I moved from. I was graciously only charged for the coffee. read more

This place is old school but up to par with all things gluten free. They make their own breads and that includes a yummy gluten free bread! They also offer gluten free pancakes! The food is delicious and friendly staff. read more

We are breakfast here on Sunday morning after a wedding. We started out with a large family group and as others arrived we ended up adding more for a total of 18. Servers who took care of our tables were so accommodating and everything went perfectly. She even ask us if we wanted separate checks. All food came out piping hot and delicious. It was great experience. Recommend it, especially if you have a large group. read more

The people were great, the food not so much. Corned beef hash had tough chewy sliced corned beef that was too fatty to enjoy, the biscuits and gravy tasted like straight up flour, they obviously didn't cook the flour out, the toast was good and the bacon was good, but by 6:00PM I ended up with stomach cramps and then a visit to the bathroom. The only other thing I ate that day was a peanut butter sandwich, so I'm pretty sure their food did it to me. Wont be going back. Food was great however did not know I was going to be charged for black coffee and tea refills. If going to be charged full price for a cup to be refilled wait till it is completely empty especially for 4.25 to 4.50 a cup. 4 of us had breakfast. I had water, 1 had tea and two had coffee and almost $30 just for drinks. That's ridiculous! I probably will not go back since this is the case. read more

I love this place! It's been around Redding since the 1980s. I used to go there in 1981 for wonderful Sunday brunches after busy nights out the night before. The food is just as good and is very well done. You get more than your money's worth. I always come home with another meal. LOL the service is great the girls care. The food is excellent what are you waiting for! They have fabulous cinnamon rolls that are as big as a dinner plate. They're worth it seven or $8 there are now. I love their Denver omelets with hash browns and I get their homemade biscuits. It they are to die for. I can't tell you how much better the food is there then Denny's or black bear. Those places have become so commercial. But this place is your typical mama papa placed that's been here since the '80s. If you don't go there you're wasting your money. read more

My friends enjoy this restaurant for breakfast so we decided to check this place out. We arrived for breakfast (~10:00) and it was already filled. The wait wasn't too long (~10 minutes). I built my own omelet (i.e. bacon, mushroom, onion, tomato, and cheddar), which also came with hashbrowns. My friends shared the pancake, scrapple, and corned beef hash. Staff was friendly and attentive, and everything tasted great. I would definitely order the omelet again. There's also lots of parking, so that's a plus. We found this local gem driving back to the Central Valley from Oregon. The food is so good and they don't t skimp on anything! My cousin had her jaw reconstructed and has limits on what she can eat and how her food is prepared. They listened and delivered! She ate 1/2 her breakfast, which is rare! Thank you for listening. This spot was open on Monday morning unlike black bear diner . The service was great and the waitresses were nice and accommodating. The food came out in timely manner, the bathrooms were exceptionally clean and tidy The coffee was really good and they have a nice vibe to their place. Anybody going to Shasta or passing through Redding should come here for breakfast read more

Looking up places for veterans day and this place keeps coming up. DO NOT GO HERE if you're looking for veterans day deals. They told Shasta county last year (2023) that they would be participating in a veterans day deal and pulled a "bait and switch". I showed up and they had a sign on the door saying they will NOT honor veterans day deals for veterans but would provide one cup of coffee. read more

We loved our breakfast here. We ordered to-go and it was ready in 15 minutes even though the place was mobbed. I ordered a Country omelette with extra mushroom, substitute American cheese. It was perfect and also came with sausage gravy on top. My husband had chicken fried steak and eggs, also delicious! We ordered a side of boneless pork loin (2 breaded pork loins) for a to-go dinner with a side of potato salad. Warning, the serving of potato salad is microscopic for the price of $2.99. Steep in my opinion. We had the cinnamon bun, which was good however, it was full of raisins. We enjoyed it, but some might not if you don't like a raisin. The service is very professional, polite and patient. One of the best breakfast's that we have had in a long time. We will be back and I highly recommend you have breakfast here. We decided to pick sandwiches before hiking Lassen Peak trail. I called to place order for 3 veggie spinach sandwich and wondered how will it taste. They served it with fries and had packed the sandwich really well. In a plastic wrap and then in a box. The place also looked super clean and nice. They were baking their own bread loads and other bakery too. The sandwich tasted really nice at the top of the peak, but there seemed to be some issues if I were eating that in restaurant. I'd have expected the bread to be grilled or toasted but it wasn't. Also it seemed to be baked to a bit dry texture which made it more chewy. The fries on other hand were nice and as usual can't stop after just one. Not sure probably need to try a dine in first before deciding on a overall review of the place. read more

We drive through Rdding a couple times a year on the way to a friends house. We've always looked for a breakfast place to break up the trip. We've tried lots of places, but rarely go back to any of them. Either the food is meh, or overpriced, or the service sucks, and there is a long wait. Until now. We'll go back to the Country Kitchen! Great food (I had eggs Benedict and my partner an omelet), good prices, great wait staff and no long lines. This was a nice family place to go to. We came here for breakfast when visiting family. They had a kid corner which was really nice and had booster seats available. The service was okay. They forgot some beverages a few times and it seemed to take a while. I ordered the scrapple and to be honest wasn't sure what to expect. I personally was hoping for more of a cornmeal flavor than what I got. The outside was nice and crunchy but the middle was too mushy for me. I had a bite of my boyfriends chicken fried steak which was pretty good! Both meals came with plenty of hash browns and two eggs. There absolutely has never been a better cinnamon roll in the history of man! Wow. Great coffee! Bacon = crispy! Homemade bread is delicious! This place feels like home. Damn. I can't stop thinking about that cinnamon roll though. Oh! AND! The potato salad is BOMB! The egg salad wasn't my style but I feel like egg salad is so diverse everywhere you go so I knew it was a risk for me to order it. Must love Mayo to enjoy egg salad. We were starving after dead-leggin it from OC to Redding overnight. I think it took us eight hours to get here (about 600 miles). We arrived around 7am starving, tired, and excited. This was the first food stop on my summer 3,200 mile Montana-bound road trek. The ice cold water this chilly morning was what I needed after drinking bout a gallon of homemade three day-aged cold brew. Interior - plain jane. Service - Nice. Cute waitresses always a plus. Redding (town) - it's hillbilly town. Think #MAGA. Food - Spinach/Mushroom Omlette - This sucka was gigantic. I couldn't finish it. The veggies were fresh and tasty. The flavors did not wash away with the oil the food was cooked in which is common. Hash Browns - Commercialized but the way they grill it well done is just perfect. Plus you get a boat load of em. Molasses Bread - Sweet. No need for jam or butter. The bread itself was delish. Raisin Bread - Oh man, this was really good. I wanted more. This spot is a bakery and claims that all the bread was made in-house. The bread did not taste commercialized. It had softness, perfect proofing and mix. Plus the thickness (as in flavor not size) was inconsistent which means minimal machine usage for measurement. So I argue the breads were homemade. Steak/Eggs - I didn't eat the steak but tasted it. The seasoning was too heavy for me so I couldn't taste the beef quality. However, Redding is a town with cattle so I will assume until proven otherwise that the beef quality is well above average. French Toast - Made w/ Molasses bread. Oh wow! These were so gooooooooooooood. I loved the frenchie toast here. They gave six slices (opposed to four slices). The portions were generous, but the flavors were there. The bread itself is delicious, add some butter and eggs, then the heck can go wrong? Overall this is a five star joint. I might be a bit biased due to my hunger level and desperation, but I'm normally a cranky bastard before breakfast so if this spot was off beat, I would have "live-yelped review" this spot a couple weeks ago filled with curse words and insults that would've gotten another deleted review =P Safe Travelings and happy eatings peeps. read more
