It started with the smiling face of our waitress McKensie who if I had a daughter, I would want a girl just like her. Great service, warm personality and pretty as ever. Francie is the reason we come. Best waitress in redding. Food is hit or miss. I have had great breakfasts and also not great. Consistently is lacking. Sometimes the ranchers choice omelet has sausage gravy and other times it has chopped sausage patty with country gravy (meatless). Sometime the hashbrowns are on point others they are to greasy to eat. Pancakes are good and my partner likes the blue cheese burger. Onion rings are on point but French fries are often over cooked or maybe the fryer oil needs to be changed. Fish tacos are a favorite though. Our service was incredible( Mackenzie and Sam), they filled the coffee before it was empty ....a huge plus in my eyes. The restaurant was clean loved the glass countertops. The food was A+ meaning the cooks didn't rush and the flavor was actually amazing. Highly recommend breakfast. Meals are huge beware! They are open early and close at 7pm. I've been getting catering from Sweetie's for about 4 weeks now in the summer and I can only sing praises. The woman who caters is very kind and approachable, speaking to anyone w/ kindness and respect. I would recommend them. Chicken - 6/10 Seems like chicken thighs covered in sweet and tangy sauce which works well with the rice. Rice - 5/10 Probably cooked with chicken stock, nice soft, pillowy texture. Meant to be eaten with the chicken, but that's okay. Stirfry - 6/10 A nice soft and crisp texture on the vegetables with a light amount of sauce. Works well with the rest of the plate. Snickerdoodle - 8/10 I love the sweet cinnamon taste to the cookie. Cookie has a soft, crispy texture. Perfect amount of sweetness. Chocolate Chip Cookie - 6.5/10 A more crispy texture than the snickerdoodle and a lot more sweet. I prefer the snickerdoodle as the sweetness is more mellow and the texture is better. Potato Salad - 6/10 Has potato, olives, onion, celery, and probably more. The sauce works alright for what it is. The standard fare for potato salad. Burger - 9/10 The patties were nice and crisp, which I enjoyed but I can see how someone expected a big, juicy patty might not like. I put ketchup, mustard, pickles, lettuce, and tomato on mine, which worked well. I enjoy how it all came together. Well seasoned patties. Mac & Cheese - 8.5/10 Great seasoning on the sauce and it covers the macaroni very well. I wish there was a nice cheese crust on it, only thing I can complain about. I love Mac and Cheese. Chicken Enchiladas - 8/10 Really nice tomato based sauce, perfect amount to make the tortilla soft but not soggy. Great amount of chicken and cheese in the enchiladas. The crunch cheese bits are the best. Chips and Salsa - 6/10 Nice chip brand, I love them. The salsa has a nice citricy note and has a good mix of ingredients: tomato, onion, chilis, cilantro. Chicken Sandwich - 5/10 Mayo, mustard, lettuce, cheddar, chicken breast. Not very dry but some parts were very chicken heavy and had not much else. Standard sandwich. Spaghetti & Meatballs - 7/10 I like the tomato sauce and with the thickness of the pasta it could use some more to balance out. The meatballs are cooked well and help give some meaty flavor to the whole. Parmesan is a nice saltiness. Garlic Bread - 6/10 Maybe a bit too much of the butter garlic sauce. This is the second year in a row we have had Sweetie's cater our year end office lunch. Once again the food was terrific. My favorite is her man' n cheese. So good. Not your typical bland mac. She is super sweet (as the name implies) and her prices are outstanding. I can safely say I would order from them again. So my friend used this company when he got married in Shasta. We finally got to eat at their restaurant, it was very affordable and tasty! Glad we made the stop towards Oregon, we were able to sit wherever we want and were given menus minutes later. The food came out quite fiarely fast and in big portions! I got the roast beef with au jus which was great and greasy! The gselci fries had all the garlic on the bottom but the best part which surprised me was the clam chowder! It was the best I've had in many places, compares very close to pikes place. We all shared some chili nachos which were fun to share! My group kept gobbling it up. I really wanted to like this establishment but 4 years ago, the first and only time I ate at Sweeties I got food poisoning. Maybe it was just the specific dish I ordered or how it was cooked but I was sick for two full days of puking. Actually (and not to get graphic) but it was coming out of both ends of me. I was really angry. I'll never eat at Sweeties after that again. Sorry not sorry. I said what I said. It's a shame because like I said, I really wanted to like this place. I went for dinner last week. We all know what to expect from a diner - moderately decent food at a reasonable price. I didn't get what I expected. It was 10x better. In fact, it was an exceptional meal - the smoked pork chop with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. My girlfriend had an omelette that she raves about too. This is in an older building in a not very pretty part of Redding. But the place was spotless! I spent a lot of years working in restaurants and this was one of the cleanest I've seen. I am confused... usually I enjoy my food and experience here. I went for brunch yesterday and it seems to have gone down a bit. The smoked pork chop w/poached eggs on grilled english muffin was not very good, the pork tasted like it was smoked with salmon and very thin, the eggs had water inside the yolk (not made correctly), plus the fresh fruit was okay except for the unripe pieces. My wife ordered a smoked roast beef sandwich and it tasted like it was under cooked almost raw. She really did not like it. I know the owner of this business and I hope she reads this, I was glad to see that you still have the same server from many years ago now, unfortunately she wasn't my server yesterday, and what happened to Jacob(?) the cook, food was better before. I contracted Sweetie's (with Tif), to cater my father's celebration of life, directly following his memorial at Igo Cemetery near Redding. The contracted time for them to arrive, load-in and set up was 9am, for a 10am food service. It was set up this way so that guests could come to the location of the party, directly following the funeral, get something to eat, talk and then eventually, people would speak about my father. Sweetie's was 1 person, Tif. No assistant, just her, to cater for 50 people. She ARRIVED at 10am. Because she was over an hour late, we had to adjust the order of the celebration of life on the fly (since there was no food available) and the only option was to have people start speaking right away. You guessed it - WHILE Tif loaded in the catering supplies, equipment and food. So while people are up there trying to say something heart felt about my dad, this person is SETTING UP, loudly. TERRIBLE. When I asked her what happened she simply said "this is just the kind of morning I'm having". Are you kidding me? That's what you say to your client whose function you are an hour late to? When the food was finally set up, it was sub par. We went for a breakfast/brunch spread and based on the reviews I saw on Yelp, I thought it would be good. The food was Denny's level, at best. And I wouldn't have said anything about the food if she had just been on time. I had paid her a deposit initially and then she was asking for the remaining balance post-function. I paid her by check. I had just gone through burying my father and everything else and didn't want to get into it with her, and that was my mistake. I should have refused to pay the full remaining balance or maybe if she weren't so unprofessional, she would have offered to reduce the amount. But I cut her a check for the remainder. A few days later, as I thought about it and family/friends mentioned how lame the catering was, I sent Tif and email and called her (cell phone and restaurant phone). I noticed she had not yet deposited the checks and asked her if she could adjust the amount and I would either Venmo her or cut her a new check (why the hell she insisted on a check in the first place is beyond me..). She ignored me completely. Never returned a call or an email. I wouldn't wish Sweetie's Catering on even my worst enemy's event. I can't speak to the restaurant, but the catering experience with her was horrible, and I will always remember her pushing her little dolly and cart and the clanging of her catering equipment while she set up DURING people's speeches about my father. The total lack of personal accountability is what really bothers me. She could have at least apologized for being late, or offered to slightly adjust the bill, but no. She could have at least responded to my calls or emails, but instead she just showed up late, did a sub par job, screwed things up, took the money and never replied. Awful. read more

My family and I just visited Sweeties Cafe for the first time and I'm highly impressed! This is a family owned business and for that I'm excited to say if you eat here you're going to taste the love in the food. Tiff the owner prides herself in her food and you can taste it! It feels like you walked into her home and she cooked a meal for you with love! I ordered the Brandy creek chicken and it was delicious! We ordered a peach cobbler and that was knocked out of the park. The ambience is very family friendly. We're visiting two days in a row we enjoyed it so much. We enjoyed talking with staff as it makes feel family friendly and not someone just there for a paycheck. I highly recommend trying Sweeties cafe out! I ha have a sleeping disorder called Narcolepsy, and I was seated in the very back of Sweeties (mind you, it was only me) at a huge table, by a waitresses that I have encountered several times before.
