I hired Jose's to remove the weeds (by the roots) from my rockery to clean it up. I checked on crew shortly after starting (they were 1.5 hours late), and they had removed nearly half of the existing flowering plants that covered the rockery. I called the owner and he said he would install replacement plants and make it right. Again, they came to my house and were late. The owner who claims to be a project mgr did not come, did not check the quality of work, or communicate in any way. Four weeks later, I have to weed constantly, plants are nearly dead because they are in direct sun, and found that the mulch that I was required to purchase to hold water for the new plants was used to cover the existing weeds which were not removed. I do not recommend you trust them to do the work that you are paying them to do. read more

Jose's Landscape and Maintenance is great for initial cleanups and one time projects. Maintenance on the other hand, is not so great. We had a big cleanup done in August, which was pristine. Our property looked amazing and we were so excited to sign up for maintenance to keep it looking that way. Unfortunately, it is now October and the weeds have been picked once and the ivy in the front yard continues to be ignored. When I first told them that weeding was not being done, they suggested someone come out to give us an estimate. What?? I told them we didn't need an estimate but just for the crews to weed when they came for our visits. (As included in our contract) They said yes, and then scheduled a visit with an estimator... LOL. I'll spare everyone the details and just let our pictures speak for themselves. It seems like they send a different crew each visit, which wouldn't be a problem if all the crews provided the same level of service. It has been so frustrating trying to get them to provide the maintenance services that we signed up for to keep our property looking as good as when they first cleaned it up. They did a yard clean-up, but ripped out all the ground cover I planted, as well as two plants that were not dead. They chopped several feet from my weeping cherry, which was not to be touched. They said they were going to remove the blackberry bushes, but they just cut them back so they grew the next week. They were hours late with no notice. When I emailed about it, they made no comment on what they did wrong. Two workers came back after I requested them to finish getting rid of the blackberry roots. They got rid of only two. They didn't speak any English so me explaining it didn't help. Pros: quick to reply, give estimate, and schedule the work. read more

Jose's Landscape had been servicing my home for the past 18 months, and for the most part they did a decent job. They always arrived on time and my lawn looked decent. They are, however, very expensive compared to other companies in my area, and last week I had to terminate services, and here is why. They came out and gave me an estimate back in early 2021, including mowing my lawn, weeding my plant beds, and fertilizing my grass (three times annually.) I hired them even though they provided the highest bid to me, based on some recommendations. They came every time they were supposed to come, (twice monthly) since then. I had to remind them to fertilize my lawn at least once, and since they use the same mower equipment on all of their customer lawns, they did introduce new weeds and fungus to my new lawn, but what can you do when you share lawn mowers from customer to customer? They also at least on one occasion, cut my drop sprinkler hose line which I had to repair. For some reason though, last week I noticed that my back yard was not cut. I called (they do have a receptionist that answers their phone) and explained that my lawn was not cut. The receptionist said yes it was and seemed very defensive. Come to find out that they did not cut my back yard, and they explained that my agreement was only for the front yard. (I live in a neighborhood and my lot is funky and I do not have a front yard.) I explained that to them, and still the receptionist said that their service manager, Onan, told the crew that was at my house to only work on the front but not the back. Now I was really confused as they have been servicing all of my lawn for over 18 months, but now they want to only do the front lawn for the price I am paying? I explained this to them, and the receptionist again was short with me, and told me that it states front lawn on my estimate. I checked my estimate, and it just says lawn, but does not distinguish between front and back lawn service. Keep in mind that they were the highest bid I was given (I had three companies give me bids.) I sent the estimate they originally provided me back to them and the receptionist replied that they normally stipulate front and back lawn service on their estimates. Well, that's nice, but I asked when they can come back and finish the job. They recognized their error finally but told me that they were all booked up. I explained that I was having an event on my lawn that coming weekend, and I will need to cut it on Friday myself if they don't come back. She repeated that they are booked and can't help me. I told them that if I had to cut my grass on Friday evening, I will be terminating my services. The receptionist gave me a whatever type of reply, and so I terminated my services. I just did not like the holier than thou attitude of this receptionist, and after 18 months of paying my invoice within 24 hours of receipt (they send it via email, and you can pay on-line) I did not feel valued and terminated the services. I did not expect that to happen when I woke up that day. I found another company who is going to do my front and back for what I was paying Jose's. Oh well. read more

Bottom line? There might be a few companies that will do the work cheaper, but Jose's is worth paying the extra 10% or so. The quality of their work and the dependability and professionalism of their crews make all the difference in the world. I've fired 2 landscapers in the last 12 months, and Jose's was one of the bidders after the 1st one. I should've hired them then. They came in about $20 a month higher than the company I hired, and now that seems like a bargain. They came out a year ago and gave me a bid for regular monthly maintenance. The last week they came out, honored that bid, and gave me a bid for the spring cleanup my yard really, really needed after sitting untended all winter this year. It's still only February, so they already got a crew out to do the work. They did all the usual trimming, pruning, weeding, mowing, raking, and cleanup. They cleared out overgrown bamboo that's always coming in from a neighbor's yard. (Bamboo is awesome but once it fills in the area where you plant it, you're always trimming it back. This is fine--it's a great hedge plant if you can do the maintenance.) They also: --Cleaned the roof --Cleaned the gutters --Cleaned the deck roofing, which is different material and the leaves really cling to it --Power-washed the driveway One nice touch? They haul it all away, too. Some companies use your yard waste bins, which might save you a little money, but can be a pain when there's a lot of yard waste. I opt for the companies that do the hauling. Everything is ready to grow as soon as we get more light and warmth in the next couple months. No moss, no leftover dead blooms or stalks from last year, no accumulated yard grim anywhere. Everywhere I look out of every window is clean and tidy. So far I can't review their monthly work. It's just been the cleanup day at this point. But I'm more confident in them than the other companies I've dealt with over the last couple years. They have professional trucks, all well maintained, with estimators running around in pickups and maybe chipping in as needed; the work crews have bigger trucks with trailers. I realize the fleet cost comes back to the customer, but knowing they're a big operation means they're much more likely to make it out to appointments even if someone gets sick or changes jobs. The size of the fleet and the amount of staff they have gives you that extra layer of assurance. read more

Jose's provided lawn maintenance for the 2021 season at our home in Edmonds. This included mowing, edging, blowing, trimming, weeding (in the flower beds), and three fertilizer applications. One good thing about Jose's is that they respond to their emails. In fact, one of the main reasons we selected them was because they were quick, professional, and responsive throughout estimating. They continued to be responsive when we had questions or concerns throughout the summer. The estimators in particular are friendly and helpful. However, the good news ends there. Service steadily got worse throughout the season. They never reliably performed any weeding, despite multiple promises that they would notify the crew about the issue. On a few occasions, the trimming they performed totally butchered a few plants that we had previously instructed them not to touch again. Each progressive service got seemingly lazier and more rushed, including one service so bad that I sent them 20+ photos of weeds, piles of grass clippings, scattered dirt, buried sprinkler heads, un-mowed strips of lawn, green stains on the walkways, etc. To their credit, they did send a crew back later in the same day to redo the work, and it was finally up to the caliber of their very first visit. However, the very next visit was back to shoddy work again. This brings me to what motivated me to write this review: When I asked customer service about the two missed fertilizer applications, they told me that their fertilizing schedule was March, October, and December. Wait. What? Beyond the subpar quality for a premium price, I simply refuse to tolerate this obvious dishonesty to cover for missed services. I immediately replied to their email to terminate all future services. UPDATE: Two weeks after I fired them, the crew came back anyway. Apparently, I was not removed from their schedule. I had to get dressed and run outside to stop them from mowing. It's raining and windy today, they had barely started and had already left tons of clumps of wet grass clippings. I explained to the crew that we were no longer customers, and they said "OK", I asked them to cleanup the mess they were making and they said "we will". Of course, they didn't. So I just spent 20 minutes scrubbing grass stains off of our driveway. read more

Since buying our home two years ago, we've had Jose's do a number of projects for us, ranging from small jobs (clean ups, tree trimming, etc.) to major multi-week projects (rock terrace, new fencing, hardscaping). The latter was our most recent project with Jose's. I just wanted to reiterate what an amazing partnership it is to work with Jose's and his entire crew. It's very possible that all their employee have worked on a project of mine at some point in the last couple years! A few individual call outs: Roberto, their estimator/project manager/customer liaison is wonderful to work with! He's prompt, fair, and communicates clearly and professionally. In the last couple years, Roberto has generally been my main contact and he truly makes the projects go smoothly and seamlessly. Joaquin, the main crew leader on our hardscaping terrace project might be one of the hardest working people I've ever met. Day after day he would show up on time, work diligently and ensure quality work with his team. A few times I would buy the team pizza for lunch if I was home and they were always appreciative and grateful. Trust me, it's worth it when they are moving heavy rocks for 8+ hours a day by hand! Other than taking lunch breaks, they were always working hard - these guys have a work ethic beyond belief. Thanks go out to all that worked on the project as I didn't get every single name, but tried my best to say hello/thank you to all of them. If you ever need a new fence, Jose's is the way to go. Valentin and Gregorio were a two man team who built a beautiful fence and a very specific modern gate (I had a pintrest photo for them) which took a week and turned out just like the photo. Their attention to detail is impeccable - I happened to be home on the first day they started, and almost every couple hours, they would knock and ask me to check and make sure everything was to my liking, making any and all minor changes I requested. I wouldn't be surprised if these two only worked on fences because their end result was perfection. Also, they were kind and very friendly (and had a sense of humor). Andrea, their office manager/coordinator, is so kind on the phone. I haven't had a chance to meet her in person, but, I'm not kidding, this woman knows customer service. She would call me Ms. Theresa on the phone everytime and would call to confirm appointments, notify me of status changes, etc. She deserves kudos as well for managing schedules for the team. Long story short, for any and all outdoor landscaping/hardscaping projects, Jose's is truly the way to go. Their team delivers every time and their prices are always comparable and fair. I booked an appointment online for the initial estimate. They didn't show up. I sent an email and figured, ok I need to find another company. They then showed up the next week on a different day. I double checked my email confirmation and the date I thought it was was correct. He said that the date on his paper he was given was the current day. So I figured, ok office messed up, not this guy's fault. They quoted me a large amount for the initial cleanup but the maintenance quote didn't seem terribly expensive. You have to do the initial cleanup though. So I OK'd both quotes. They showed up unannounced and did the cleanup, broke a few sprinklers that I was able to fix most of but I thought, ok maybe that just happens. I've never hired lawn care people before. I just rolled with it, didn't complain or anything. Then, nothing. They never came again. It's been two months, they wanted to come every two weeks. I sent messages and no response. They just never showed up for the maintenance. So I over paid for the cleanup that they require before they do the maintenance and they never showed up for the maintenance. They do a few yards in our neighborhood, I thought having a few contracts in the same area might even make their jobs easier, but nope, still nothing. So now I have to find another company. We have a tiny front yard, small section of grass. It would probably have been really quick if they would just, respond in any way. Terribly frustrating. read more

I don't know what to say. They have impressed me. I had them come out to do an initial clean up -mostly weeding, and they did a great job. They were then supposed to be back every two weeks to keep the weeds away. We do not have lawn to mow, but instead have ground cover that needs to be hand weeded. We had recently re-landscaped and had specifically asked them not to trim anything as we were trying to get the plants to fill in more. another crew came out for the maintenance and were not properly instructed and so several of our plants that were not supposed to be trimmed were trimmed. I was furious. But I am honestly impressed that they have acknowledged the error and are replacing the trimmed plants with new ones (bringing them back to the height/size they were prior to being trimmed back) The work isn't done yet, but we are hopeful they will have the plants restored in a weeks time. This is my third project with Jose's Landscape and maintenance and it was 5 stars like the rest. We replaced our front lawn with a more eco friendly design and removed a small tree in the back which opened up the sky and built on a past project where we replaced that lawn with artificial turf, installed stone walkways and a fire pit. They also trimmed and fixed our poorly maintained landscaping...my wife wants to have Jose do that yearly now since the shrubs around the house look so great. I was impressed with a certain company because of their presentation and flashy company brochure. That is where it stopped. All flash, no dash and worst did not follow thru, kept me on the hook for 3 months. Here enters Jose's Landscape & Maintenance Inc. On 07/20/20, Leo, their estimator was very professional, called ahead to state his ETA and spent time asking me what I wanted done. I took the chance and told him what my dream backyard would look like and had him break it down into two quotes to see what we could afford. As we walked the yard, I gave him my vision and I had a good feeling about what could eventually be. Before he left he made sure he had my correct email address and stated he would get the estimate back to me in two days. On 07/21/20, I received the two estimates. My wife and I discussed our options for 7 days and went with both estimates to extend our patio, build stone steps in our retaining wall, create a paver walkway from the patio that led to a fence which would be rebuilt into a front gate and install AstroTurf. On 07/28/20, we approved the order by sending an email and to proceed with scheduling. Received confirmation on 07/31/20 that our scheduled first day of the project is 08/24/20. As the weeks and days got closer, Leo checked in with us making sure we were both lined up for 08/24/20. On 08/24/20 the crew showed up along with Leo and Jose, the owner of the company. This was a nice surprise. They did a quick huddle with me and started. Like clockwork they were here at 7:30am. They contacted me anytime they needed to make an adjustment or wanted my opinion and okay on a change. This happened every single day until the project was finished. Yes, the owner Jose was on site for at least 30 min each day, validating the work that his men did and their crew leader Juan was there every day and available for any questions or suggestions I had. On 09/02/20, the job was done pending sealant that needed to dry for 24-48hrs. I remembered before they started, they had to remove pavers I had in the front yard and trim the bushes because they needed to bring in an excavator, promising it would look like before. The front yard looked better than before! Throughout this transaction, I communicated with Dania, who handles the front office. She delivered messages to Jose and Leo on my behalf, gave me ETAs on the crew and was aware of all the estimates and invoices created for me. One thing that stuck with me was what Jose told his crew, "To treat this like your own home." I could tell they followed this mantra, because everything was so detailed and meticulous. On that last day, I remembered Omar gave me a final walk thru and asked if everything was to my satisfaction. There was a little thing on the new gate that caught my eye and bothered me. Omar and crew leader Juan fixed it to my satisfaction. As they left, Alex took his blower and blew all the dirt from my driveway as the truck left. Talk about professionalism from beginning to end. We wanted to redo our small backyard on our condo and Jose's crew did an outstanding job. The crew was very professional, when they arrived they laid out tarps on all the areas they would be working, tore up the grounds and took all the trash out and were very insistent on making sure we were happy with the progression of the work. During the final day even Jose himself showed up to meet me, they laid out over 3 pallets of concrete paver stones and made sure everything was level and perfect. This is our first time hiring landscaping services and after many searches and bids we decided to work with Jose's Landscaping. We were not looking for very elaborate landscaping but more to clear the old landscaping, level the ground, replace all grass, fix walkways and plant one tree. We ended up having to make some changes in the middle of this and were able to come to a reasonable plan with Onan as well as with the owner Don Jose directly, who came over twice to supervise the project. A month later part of our newly-installed sod seemed to be failing and Onan was back out here to assess it within days and we have already arranged to get it resolved in the spring. This company listens to its customers, is responsive and flexible to make it work, and has a great team- from the management all the way to the team doing the garden work directly. The workmanship by the crew was excellent. I was genuinely shocked at the incredibly amazing job they had done. I wasn't expecting this caliber. I was expecting a 'good' job but they delivered an 'outstanding' job! Hoss and the office staff were always available and always helpful. It was great that I could talk to a human and not a robo-voice! The owner called me to see how things were going. I'm not Bill Gates, just an average Joe, but that was a great touch! I have to mention also, this is the first time I have EVER witnessed a crew that was visibly happy at a work site. These guys were professional and polite from the get-go, but they were happy while they worked. They talked, they joked, one was humming. It was such a pleasant experience to watch them work. Their crew work really hard. Our backyard lawn was slowly taken over by weeds over the past couple of years, so we decided to get a completely new sod to start over with. I spoke to Diana over the phone. She is very smooth in setting up the quote and sweet to talk to. Leo came to do our estimate. He actually arrived a few minutes before the 12 noon appointment. I also wanted to do something about side yard, and Leo did an estimate for it too. I really enjoyed meeting Leo, very knowledgeable. The crew arrived before 8am. For a while rain was pouring down. They put on raincoats and kept on going till lunch break, and resumed after lunch. Removing old lawn in the midst of rain was very tough. Great work ethic. Now it's been a few days after sod installation. I've taken some photos and uploaded here. Hope it would be useful to anyone that's planning a similar yard project. read more

Jose's Landscape team did a stellar job cleaning up my yard. After 2.5 days of weeding, trimming, hauling, and laying ground cover, my yard looked amazing in the end! It was very easy to schedule an appointment. The estimator, Hoss came out and after a short walk-thru of the yard he had a good sense of what I was looking to do and provided multiple options to to achieve it. For the crew itself, those guys worked very diligently and are a good example of professionalism. Simply put, they did a great job. I would highly recommend them for the service.
