It's the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, enjoy a couple of scoops, and take a break from exploring. I especially loved how family-friendly it felt. This is definitely somewhere I'd bring the kids to enjoy some ice cream and spend a little time together. Decided to get ice cream after a hot afternoon and it was such a treat to cool down. This is such a nice establishment with friendly workers. There is plenty of seating inside as well as a couple spots outside. I ordered Moose on the Loose and it was thick and creamy. It had big pieces of chocolate and it definitely did not disappoint. Our friend brought us here when we were visiting and I am so so so glad he did! We are not from CO so I'm dismayed we don't have a Josh & John's in California (although it looks like they have nationwide shipping). Their prices are definitely a little bit higher (I think $9 a pint) but I still think about that $9 pint!! We only grabbed the Purple Mountain Majesty (his rec) and I love love this flavor even though I don't usually gravitate towards taro/ube flavors. I keep thinking that it's ube because of the food coloring they use, but their powders are actually taro! It's a very light taro (don't expect heavy taro) flavor with the yummy chocolate raspberry chunks. I could be overhyping this flavor but if I'm ever in the state again, I'd 100% stop by for a Purple Mountain pint. read more

I was visiting Downtown Colorado Springs for business and stopped by Josh & John's for ice cream on my final night in town because a trip is never complete without trying local ice cream. I'm glad we stopped in after dinner. I ordered their popular "Purple Mountain Majesty" ice cream, which is made of taro and raspberry truffle. Pretty good but not stellar. The young lady helping with the orders was really upbeat the night we stopped in and provided good service. It was really busy when we went in but we enjoyed the ambiance. Ice cream sounded good on a beautiful Colorado day after lunch so we wandered in here. I had chocolate with peanut butter and mint chocolate chip. He had cookie dough ice cream. So the good: you could definitely tell the ice cream was quality with rich flavor. The bad: my "chocolate peanut butter" ice cream had zero peanut butter in it. It was good chocolate flavor. Just lacking the peanut butter. We both thought our cones were very hard and tasted stale. Both of us separately and jokingly commented that we thought it was gonna cause us to chip our teeth. We both agreed it would've been better if we had ordered them in a cup rather than a cone. It's pretty pricey for the size scoop you get, but it's a decadent treat, for sure. read more

I quite literally stumbled upon this place. I'm visiting from California and was taking an evening stroll through the downtown area of Colorado Springs and saw the huge line and figured it must be worth the wait...and it most certainly was. The line moved much faster than I expected it to, so in total I waited about 20 minutes. I sampled a few flavors and landed on the cookie butter crumble and the melted mazel toff in a waffle bowl. The two flavors paired perfectly with each other and the waffle bowl was just the right level of sweet. I highly recommend Josh & John's ice cream for their yummy ice cream, fun ambiance, and friendly employees. I will definitely be back again before I head back home to California. read more

We noticed the place while exploring downtown in the evening. The place was very busy and I did notice they have vegan options so we had to try! I got two vegan flavors: vanilla and salted peanut butter and the second one was definetly my favorite. Delicious! Hubby got the dark chocolate flavor and melted toffi one and it was really melted... and a little too sweet for him. But overall he enjoyed the ice cream and I did too. We tried the Colorado Cookies and Cream and Moose on the Loose. They were not kidding about the Colorado Cookies and Cream ACTUALLY tasting like an Oreo. It's not just sweet cream with chunks of Oreos. The Moose on the Loose had HUGE chunks of brownies. I ordered a homemade waffle cone, it wasn't my favorite but it didn't take away from the ice cream which was the real star of the show. Gideon took our order and when I say served, I mean he took our order and literally ran to get our ice cream. Talk about fast service!
