I have been coming to this salon for about a year now. First of all, let me say that as a black female in Orange County, it is very difficult to find and TRUST someone to take care of my hair and who knows what they are doing-especially when it comes to hair type and chemicals. I am currently relaxed and have short previously pixie cut hair that is growing out. I first met Toni Belle after I literally DESTROYED my hair by trying to relax it myself (I am very impulsive when it comes to hair...). I mean, I really effed it up and chunks of hair were falling out when I rinsed the relaxer out. I thought I was going to be bald!!! Frikin MORTIFIED. So, a few days later, I scheduled an appointment with Toni for the first time. She got me in quickly! I came to her with tears in my eyes over my hair devastation and she was so nice about it (I was expecting to be fussed at lol) and she literally SAVED my hair! Since then, she has taken such great care of it! It is growing out healthy and lovely. Toni is so awesome- she is sweet, caring, GORGEOUS, and makes me feel like family. Love her. Also, can't forget to review the actual salon itself. This salon is so clean, big, and professional. All the staff here are VERY nice, check you in quick, and even offer to get you any refreshments upon arrival. I know it sounds cheesy- but when you come here, you feel like a star. came here because of all the good reviews had deep conditioning for my hair $15 the stylist recommended to me was Filipo (since i've never been here didn't know who to ask for) took about 40 min. and my hair came out really nice and soft the conditioning was $10 and up and they charged $5 extra blow drying my hair .. i thought that was a bit bizarre coz he conditioned my hair and just said "ok you done" when my hair was all wet .. i was like .. well i can't go out w/ wet hair .. he's like well it's another price for drying . another price for conditioning .. and i said yea yea i know but i need to walk out w/ dry hair .. so hence the price was $15 - which wasn't bad .. only thing that bugged me was the stylist was a bit too rough while he was drying and brushing my hair .. kept scraping me neck and forehead with the ceramic large round brush .. and it really hurts but seeing that my hair came out so nice - i still tipped him generously and it's been 4 days since and it's still so soft and velvety .. oh and the products they use are very good - i would definitely come back for hair treatment at least once or twice a month read more

Not to mention the main sign is in white text off a black background; does not exactly stand out. First impression entering was a very clean, classy, elegant atmosphere. Was greeted friendly by the front desk, and promptly given service. I've never been here before and was given an appointment to be serviced by a 'Kristen', though instead stylist named Diego walked up to me and said he would be cutting my hair. He was very friendly, approachable, and small-talk friendly. After telling him what I wanted more or less, I was escorted by a very beautiful woman named, Kristen, whom would be rinsing and shampooing my hair. She was also very amicable and nice all-around. She was very cute, shoulda gotten her number. Anyways, going back to Diego, he proceeded to cut my hair in a very confident manner. Though I'm not very picky and detailed as to how I'd like my hair cut, he left me with a haircut that I would've sworn I'd pictured in my mind how I wanted. I've had experiences where the stylist would hold my hair like a high schooler, holding a member for the first time and treated it like such. The salon itself: The salon is bright and well maintained. The JC staff has been very pleasant every time I've visited. They really make the effort to make sure their clients are comfortable and taken care of. The best part of JC (the stylists): Like most people, I've had a hard time finding a stylist that I can truly trust to cut/color my hair. Luckily, I found *Kristen W.* a few years ago (over 7) and I LOVE her! Whether I come to her with a specific cut in mind or I need some help brainstorming a new look, I can always count on her to produce exactly what I want. She truly listens to what I want, which is a refreshing change from other "stylists" my friends and I have tried. *Kristen W.* is the only stylist I will let color my hair! Every time I leave her chair I'm genuinely excited about my hair and how amazing it looks. I've recommended *Kristen W.* to friends and family and they've all turned into her regulars. (Side note) *Kristen W.* is also nice to talk to. She's a genuine conversationalist. I always feel like I'm coming in to visit an old friend when I come in to see her. *Diego* is another stylist at JC who has worked on my hair. I visited the salon today after checking out reviews by fellow yelp members and I must admit that I was very impressed with the service here. I was disheartened to find out that my hairstylist was not available and so I was forced to pick out a new place... until I found Joshua Christopher's. Thing is, I'm incredibly picky and judgmental on who works with my hair because I've had some really horrible experiences with awful barbers who were either too uninformed with today's trends or too extreme. But this place really is a balancing point for both extreme and conservative hairstyles (although it seems it's more for younger customers than your general mom and pop visitors). I do want to admit that it is in a bit of a unusual location, the building being tucked away behind some banks, but the interior is pretty neat. The staff, including my stylist whom I didn't catch her name, are incredibly nice and are willing to do everything they can to give you the 110% satisfaction. All in all, the service isn't too expensive neither too cheap, but whatever job you give them, they will do all they can to complete it. But why did I give these folks four stars out of five? Here's the thing, because they specialize in so many styles, you have to be incredibly descriptive (or bring a picture) to show what you want, which makes it a problem for those who don't know what their style is called or can only describe it with one word. This is not really a thorn on your side, but it can get a little awkward when you can't even describe it in words what you want (believe me, I had to phone my sibling to get her opinion on how I should describe it, which took almost an hour). Regardless, if the style is something they haven't seen before, they will be as careful to make it similar to what you requested. In conclusion, Joshua Christopher's Salon is worth checking out and highly recommended, because I haven't seen any salon in my area that do a better job than these guys. read more

I have had a full mane of hair 26" long and super thick, I have been very bored with my hairdo for several years now and my boyfriend would like for me to thin it out as well as cut it a little shorter, when I went to see Brissa it really felt nice and she made me feel like a good friend, she took the time to figure out what I want to do and we both decided on highlights, cut and thin my hair. I am asian and have had issues with my hair for the past year because of my medicla conditions. I have been in the process of growing it out for the past few months but parts of my hair have grown out longer than others and has become an overall hot mess. I was initially insecure because of the way my hair looked but my mind was soon put at ease by LiAnn as I explained my situation. During the initial consultation she pulled out photos as we discussed what looks I liked. The entire session with LiAnn was so thorough and thoughtful. LiAnn is the BEST thing that has ever happened to my hair!! This was the second time that I have seen her and both times I leave feeling like a new woman. I have mixed hair and have struggled with styling it for awhile because it gets frizzy without the right amount of products and heat. I have never relaxed it because it is pretty thin and I was worried about my hair falling out. I read the amazing reviews about her and treating ethnic/mixed hair and decided to give her a try. She was so easy to get into contact with the first time I talked to her, and she actually asked me to send her pics of my hair so that she could suggest and allocate time for the best treatment and styling. She suggested I try the amino acid treatment for my hair. Oh my goodness, this LITERALLY TRANSFORMED MY HAIR. It's a little pricey and takes a long time to set but it is 100% worth the money and time. I fully plan on doing this for the rest of my life. My hair is silky smooth now, sooo shiny, and so much easier to style. I had a problem of trying to curl/straighten my hair and it not lasting for more than an hour before it got frizzy again. Now I'm able to style it so much more quickly (because it air dries much faster) and the curls/waves actually stay now. It just looks so much healthier and I wear down so much more now because of it. I used to end up throwing it in a bun because I just wasn't happy with my curl pattern and the frizz. Now let's talk about her cut. I was completely open to whatever she thought would be cute for my face, so I trusted her into cutting an asymmetrical bob and I AM OBSESSED WITH IT. Seriously I feel like Beyonce with her natural short hair, so cute either curly or with some waves (if you like her style :). I have gotten soo many compliments on it!! LiAnn is a perfectionist when it comes to cutting and will do whatever you're comfortable with. Throughout the process she continues to ask if you're ok with it and how you actually style/part your hair. A lot of stylists just do what they think looks good and you walk out of there not knowing how to do it or liking it. She is so easy-going and fun to talk to, and takes pride in her work. Tricia Parker has been cutting and styling my hair since 2008. I was very nervous the first time since i never trusted anyone to cut my hair after a couple of bad experiences elsewhere. She relaxed me with a great head massage :) during the shampoo process and reassured me it was going to be ok! Boy, was she right! I've been going to Liann for about 8 years now. When I first started coming my hair was super short and damaged. I was still getting relaxers and it was killing my hair. I decided to go natural to get my hair back in it's healthy state and I didn't want to do a big cut. Liann started to do a protective weave in my hair to help me transition. I transitioned for about 3 years until all the relaxer was cut out. Although my hair is completely natural, I still continue with the protective style to allow my hair to keep growing. Brissa was my hairstylist for my wedding. She is one of the sweetest and most patient and talented person I've met and she really listens to you and cares about her client's needs. I had a trial first, and she gave me some awesome tips on improving the quality of my hair and because I wanted fuller looking hair on the day of the wedding, she suggested a place for me to purchase extensions that she would clip in on the day of. During the trial, all I had to do was show her a couple of pictures from Pinterest, and she worked her magic. She took the time to make alterations until I was happy. On the day of the wedding, she showed up at my hotel, right on time, and with a bottle of champagne. She replicated what we had agreed on during the trial, and the clip on extensions didn't even look fake. It was incredible. She's fast, but detail oriented. She took the time to also make sure the MOH and one of the bridesmaids that go their hair done was also happy with the results. She finished all 3 of our hairs in 4 hours, which I think, is pretty incredible. She was great with time management, even when we ended up having to move the timeline up towards the end so that we can have more time for wedding party pictures. Even better, my hair stayed put the whole night, even through all the dancing. Throughout the whole process, she was easy to talk to and communicate with--she made me feel at ease and produced beautiful results. She also has a makeup artist friend, Nadia, that also worked on me for the wedding. Nadia is very creative and was able to create a vision that I was going for. My favorite part of my makeup with Nadia was the individual lashes that she placed....wow...if I could do that on my own, I would never go back to strip lashes! I would recommend both Brissa and Nadia for your hair and makeup needs for the wedding. Also, the Joshua Christopher Salon is such a cool place...if I still lived in California, I would definitely go back to Brissa as my regular stylist. read more

The advertising confused me, I thought I was paying $20 for a $35 hair cut but ended up paying $50 including a tip. The hair dresser was obviously new and nervous which made me nervous. He cut my hair nicely and how I wanted but he was extremely slow, I was there for almost two hours for a trim. I was also unhappy with how my hair was styled, I expected my hair too look like I just came from a salon after being styled but he just blow dried it and then straightened it. I could have done that. I think he did it to make sure he cut correctly but it wasn't flattering. Not worth $55. My roommate had an appointment and few hours after me and had the same experience. She was also charged $10 more for the same hair cut, I assume because he hair is thicker? Over all it was an okay hair cut that was overly priced. read more

This review is for LiAnn. Honestly she is amazing! Being an African American woman, I came in very skeptical because I'm wary about who I let touch my hair. LiAnn was so patient and so meticulous with my hair. My hair is extremely damaged because of poor care & bleaching/coloring it wayyy too light but LiAnn was able to get my hair, soft, silky and healthy. She cares so much about what she does and makes sure that she gives the best possible. Make sure you know that this will take some time though, she is very thorough with her work so she made sure I left looking amazing. The only caveat is the price--which I expected being that this is a high end white salon. I've kept my hair really short for the past almost 2 years so I've never paid more than $75 for my hair, but coming here it was $155. Yes it was nice and LiAnn did amazing but this isn't something I can do every two weeks. read more
