Waste of time. I'll start with I am sure there are several very talented and courteous hair stylist there and I wish them the best. My experience was not with any of those individuals. This was my first and only time at this salon. With a hectic work schedule I need to plan appointments in advance, so I called on a Tuesday to make an appointment for Friday. They said great "Marco" will see you Friday at 11:00 I said fantastic. Show up Friday at 10:55 check in, they handed me a smock and said Marco will be right out. 20 minutes later still siting there. I went to the front desk and asked what was going on and I can't sit all day. The gentleman at the front desk said "Oh, yeah, he's here but I think he's still with someone else". At which I point I said ok I'm going to leave and please let whoever is in charge know that they should really either keep there appointment times or at the least tell the customers when there is going to be a wait...At this point I chalked it up to just a bad experience and was going move on without any reviews. However... The young man responded with playing with the computer, never looking up or at me and said "yeah yeah sure" I said great and left. As I was leaving him and the other young lady behind the counter started to laugh in my face...Now, I know I may not be the client tell they want its a very fancy place and they defiantly have an air of arrogance to them. And I don't care if they want to laugh at me, that's fine but had they done that to one of my friends or family? No, I don't think anyone should be laughed at I don't care who you think you are it's just not cool. Anyways, if you need to find a place to get a haircut...go someplace else. read more

Look, I'm a SUPER low maintenance girl. I grew up with $10 hair cuts and as an adult would consider a cut for $30 expensive and a splurge, so take my review with a grain of salt if you must. But after having a baby six months ago, I have struggled to find a new hair place. I've gone to a few and thought, meh not bad but definitely not worth it. My main requirement now is, close to home. I needed a haircut badly. It was last minute and I needed something close by after work so I can make it home in time before my sitter leaves (#newmomproblems). I called Joshua Christopher while I was stuck in traffic yelping. I was able to get an appointment within the hour, and purchased the deal here after I got off the phone. When I got there, the reception area was large and spacious. The receptionist was so warm and friendly, checked me in and gave me a smock to put on while I waited and offered me a beverage (FANCY!). Soon enough, I was greeted by Marco and he walked me back to start talking hair. I do what I always do with new stylists, tell them to just go for it! I want to keep some length, but otherwise, I'm game for anything. So he washes my hair and does his thing. So nice, so down to Earth and most importantly, told me what he was doing to my hair and why. I LOVED IT! In the end, the cut was so simple, but made such a difference and I felt like a brand new person. I can't tell you, it was the best $60 I spent at a salon with the best experience. So I need to disclose that this review only pertains to blow outs. I didn't have any color or a cut. I came into get a blow out and heard this was supposed to be one of the better salons in North OC. I was so underwhelmed. I have fine hair and the stylist never even used a round brush or any volumizing products. He sort of blasted out my hair ( I could have done that at home) with the blow dryer over my head, making my hair even limper. I asked for loose waves and he gave me these limpy curls that fell out immediately. I looked like I had curled my hair and sat inside of a steam room. Their styling products/shampoos/conditioners are sort of on the lower end. After my wash my hair felt like straw. Eek! read more

I was in search for a new hairstylist after years of not being satisfied with my previous hairstylist. After reading a few reviews, I decided to book an appointment with Liann. I have curly hair that tends to be frizzy and those of us who have curly hair know that finding a stylist that knows how to cut curly hair is like finding a needle in a haystack. I was apprehensive about trying someone knew, but I decided to take a chance. I thought well if turns out bad, it's hair and it will grow. When I first met Liann, I immediately felt comfortable with her. She's very friendly and easy to talk to, but nevertheless I was still nervous throughout the entire process. To my surprise I was so happy with the end result. Not only did Liann leave my hair feeling softer than it has ever felt, she also gave me a nice haircut and I loved how she styled my hair using a marcel flat iron which left my hair super straight with just a bit if a loose curl. I've been to a few different hair places and even reviewed a few on here, but this was a whole new experience for me. A friend of mine at work came in one day with new hair and it was sooo awesome I asked her who did it and called a booked an appointment for later that week because I was so in love. Diego is AMAZING! First if all, he is super friendly and takes the time to listen to what you are looking for and he makes you feel very welcomed and at home. Walking in, I had a red color that I wash' too fond of and some horrible roots, but Diego listened to what I wanted and did an even better job than I imagined was possible. It's been two months and he matched my hair color so well that I have zero visible roots and my highlights look natural and beautiful. While waiting on the color, Diego asked me how I normally style my hair and such and I mentioned I'm usually too lazy because my hair is wavy and unruly. He suggested I try a Keratin treatment. I loved that he wasn't pushy about it at all. He made an honest recommendation and after careful consideration, I decided to go for it. BEST decision EVER!!! After the treatment, my hair is shiny, straight, and healthy looking :) Overall, Diego is hair god. Over two months later, I am still getting compliments on my hair and I love it. Altho he is far my house, I will make the drive and go see him again because he is totally worth it. read more

I knew someone who always had amazing hair and I asked her where she got her hair done and she told me Joshua Christopher and ask for Janet. My first time going to her was definitely the best experience! She gave me exactly what I wanted plus more. I came home that day and my family was so impressed and couldn't stop looking at my hair! My first experience at Joshua Christopher's Salon was excellent. The interior is really clean and comfortable. It's like a classic alternative to the uber-hip Crew Salon at the Lab. Today I had Felipe cut my hair and I'm VERY satisfied. While he was washing my hair I explained the look I wanted and he listened. Felipe was very conversational and he makes you feel at ease. He was very detail oriented and when I asked him about my hair type and what not, he was extremely knowledgeable. I used to get my haircuts at the Crew Salon at the Lab; in comparison, I'd say Joshua Christopher's comes out on top. Both locations have talented personnel, but the overall experience and service goes to Joshua Christopher's Salon. At the Crew Salon I loved Lindsay's service and conversations, but the receptionist isn't always friendly. Here at Joshua Christopher's, from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out it was grade A service. Men's haircut was $35, and because of the excellent service I tipped $10. Did my research and found LiAnn to cut my about-to-be-13 year old's hair. She has beautiful curls but little interest in styling them, so i wanted to find someone good w/ curls. Ppl usually say they are, then blow-dry her hair straight. If you want that, it's great, but actually finding someone who can cut & style curls is a challenge. LiAnn gave my daughter a great cut, explained how to handle her hair, and even gave us a free sample of leave-in conditioner. Before this I went to Newport hair salon where the stylist ruined my hair doing who knows what to it. Roman was recommended to me by my sister. He exceeds my expectations every time. I've been here twice now, both times for a simple haircut. The salon is very modern and seems to include a variety of services from haircuts to manicures. The first time I went, I decided to check out the place based on the reviews I saw on Yelp. The lady I made the appointment with on the phone suggested Felipe, and I really liked my haircut. He pays great attention to detail, and when he does his work he asks a few questions to get to know me, but isn't too chatty - which I LIKE. I like being able to take the time to relax, and not have to keep a conversation! The second time I went I asked for Felipe again, and still just needed simple trim. He did a great job, and I was very satisfied. A cut and blowdry was $35, which I think is a fantastic price. I was on the hunt for a new hair place, so I Yelp'd it. Funny enough, I've driven by this salon thousands of times. I called and the guy that answered (Brian) was super friendly and helpful with getting me an appointment that worked with my schedule. I asked for something early in the morning. He said he could get me in at 7:30 in the morning, so it was all set. I got to the salon promptly at 7:30 and met Felipe, who would be doing my hair. (which was more like a curly mop at this point.) Mind you, I'm pretty skeptical of people doing my hair because it's curly, and not everyone knows how to deal with curlyness!! Felipe did a deep conditioning, a trim and reshaping. I love what he did with my hair. It has been brought back to life! I even bought some product based on his recommendation. (Prive) Since Felipe has curly hair, he was able to give me some tips on how he does his hair and how I could possibly do mine. Anyway, after searching for a while now, I do believe that I've found my new spot! Definitely give it a try. It is mellow, and there is a sense of calmness (or maybe it was just the early morning.) Joshua Christopher really is a full service salon. They are an all-in-one beauty stop-shop including hair-cuts/styling/coloring and treatments. In the past, they've fixed up a really bad highlight job making my hair looking oh-so-fabulous when I walked out. Eyebrow waxing is also a must here since it's virtually pain-free and you get exactly what YOU want. I see Suzie. I have very curly, wavy, thick, long and high maintenance hair that I attempt to tame by straightening very often. Which on average takes me about 45 mins- 1 hour 15 to style depending on how straight I want it. That includes washing, blowdrying, and flat ironing. To solve my problem, I decided to try the Brazilian blow-out to cut down on the daily damage and time to style my hair the way I like it. So of course I could only trust Joshua Christopher with my locks. Joshua is the stylist who did the blowout for me. The results were amazing! Which is why I've been returning to this salon for almost 2 years now. My hair is softer, lighter, and straighter than ever before. Now my hair practically blow drys straight! I only use my flat iron to get that sleek polished look and to maintain the treatment...which if taken care of properly can last several months! 15 mins is all I need now to get fabulous looking hair. My most recent visit was this past Saturday to get the blowout again (my previous treatment was on Nov. 11) where Joshua also fixed my haircut. Reminder to self: Don't let friends cut your hair for practice! Anyways, the cut came out looking like what I had wanted originally, a little funky and different from my usual long cut. I've uploaded pix. To sum up...I've had the pleasure of being styled by several people here so no matter what stylist you have an appt with, you're in great hands. I am one of those people that is never happy with a hair cut once I get it. When they style it, you look so good and come out thinking you have an amazing haircut. Because of this, I was skeptical about writing a review immediately after my hair cut. I wanted to have a chance to see how it would look once I washed it and styled it myself. My verdict: AMAZING! Martin cut my hair and he is brilliant! He was upfront, attentive, and detailed. He listed to what I wanted, looked at the pictures I brought and we discussed the style I wanted before he began cutting. I felt safe. He was very honest with me about my hair and I greatly appreciate that. I don't want someone telling me this or that will look good, or this or that product will be good if they don't mean it. I did read a Bad review that he keeps his clients waiting but since I was his first appointment I figured I was safe. WRONG. Two people had come in behind me and were taken back by their stylists with still no sign of Marco! I was out of there! Why he thinks his time is more valuable than his clients is a mystery!
