Oh boy, here we go again! The pest control salesmen are back door-to-door. The two gentlemen who visited today were pushy, but that's to be expected. I was actually considering signing up until he started showing me a list of my "neighbors" who are all clients of their service. Which is a cute idea, if those people actually are your neighbors or live in your neighborhood or are real! Just to be sure, after I told them no, I checked our neighborhood directory and another place.. couldn't find those last names. So.. next time you're going to name drop, just try the Smith family because chances are, you probably have a Smith nearby. read more

First, the door to door guy got a no from me, and then CAME BACK to speak to my husband. The price is very expensive! The guy who came to spray was super nice, but sprayed on day that was POURING down rain and they assured me that is OK because they use special product that works in the rain. Right! Then, the nice man left the gate open and the dog got out and ran away and the neighbor had to call me. Lastly, I tried to cancel the contract and work with the company and was charged a ridiculous cancellation fee. I've never even seen a bug in the house. read more

Just make sure you know what you're signing up for. I wasn't comfortable once I figured out how much I was actually paying later after the sweaty salesman worded the contract protocol and once I read further it was way more expensive than I thought and I pretty much didn't have any great options of getting out of it so I have to suck it up and finish the 12 months. Hopefully at least I'm getting what I'm paying for. The servicemen left my gate open I have dogs but otherwise they have been nice and helpful when I have questions. read more

Our technician was so helpful. We recently bought a house and the previous owner neglected the yard and landscaping quite a bit during contract. The result was a huge amount of over growth and insect activity. Charles pulled out some poison ivy (!!!!) and did a great job over all. read more

I agree with the reviews about the annoying sales tactics - everyone does that, whether they're pest control, home security, TV service, or lawn care. Everyone at Joshua's has been very pleasant, however, and the customer service rep I talked with was very sweet. I also think that good service should speak for itself. No need to be pushy, guys! We've only had one service so far (outdoor portion only) but the Field Expert, Joshua Davis, who did arrive an hour late, was kind and did a great job getting the wasp nests and cleaning the eaves. My experience was mixed but overall good the technicians were good to work with and the front office was always professional. The measure of a good company is based on their product then their customer service. The product from what I've experienced was very good. The company and I had a difference of opinion on our contract and I believe we came to a resolution that worked for both parties. We will consider using this company in the future but can share in this review that they did work with our situation and that's more than many companies you work with. My review easily could've been much much different but Joshua's Pest Control came through when needed and that says a lot about their customer service. Don't buy into their claims of "natural" ingredients or safe to humans! A young man approached me outside of my home telling me about their great pest control. I told him I was not interested in hearing his story unless the treatments they used were all natural and did not contain chemical pesticides. He explained they only use natural products derived from chrysanthemum and other essential oils. I told him I needed to receive product information in detail before even considering their service. He quickly texted information on the products and indicated where each would be used. Some of the products obviously contained chemicals so I immediately ruled out any treatments to the exterior foundation and inside the home. I agreed to spider treatment because it appeared to be chemical free. I also agreed to the lawn treatment...nothing else. I explained our family has had significant health issues so we are ultra sensitive to any chemicals around our home. The sales person tracked along with me and guaranteed their products were natural and chemical free. When the guy showed up the next day to do the application he had no clue about the restrictions I made in my agreement with the sales guy. So I reiterated the same conversation and told him we old wanted spider and yard treatments ONLY. He agreed and completed the application. Upon completion he came back to the door and explained he did the treatments discussed and he addressed two wasp nests. He stated he used DeltaDust on those two areas...this was the first time this product was ever mentioned. I walked around the home to see the treated areas and noticed a powder all of the floor and furniture in our porch. Not knowing what to expect after the treatments I thought nothing of it. A few days later my wife starting complaining of itchy arms. This continued for a week and continually worsened. Then came an uncomfortable anxious feeling and sleepless nights. Two weeks after the application we discovered the problem, my wife was spending a lot of time on our porch sitting on a fabric cushioned couch. I contacted our sales guy and requested specific details for all products used at my home. He send me information on DeltaDust...which contains Deltamethrin. Deltamethrin literature states it causes skin irritations and is neuro-toxic to humans! I contacted the local supervisor who essentially told me there is no way the dust would be on the couch but if there was some dust it would never be enough to cause a reaction. He stated the chemical manufacturer said "they have never had a problem like this before". They are not to be trusted! read more

Not surprisingly, a random Joshua's employee - a woman's picture, yet a man's name, mind you - responded last night, assuring me that I would be contacted to clear up the confusion from the night before. Here it is, hours after closing time and I have yet to hear from anyone. I still don't know if anyone will be at my house to treat tomorrow morning or how the service will be paid for, as that was another piece of information the office was to collect. Deceptive, pushy sales tactics coupled with empty promises-definitely feel like I dodged a bullet by not getting their service. Sadly, I am not surprised by anything other than this company still being rated anything over 1 star. read more

Why would anyone fall for these door-to-door hucksters? The knock on my door just occurred -- at 8pm. Really?!? The guy was pretty pushy. I told him that I wasn't signing up for anything without a brochure to review on my own time. His response: "Well, I'm a walking brochure." Really?!? Then he pushed on with his sales script for another 2-3 mins, until the pained look on both our faces made it clear that this was dead on arrival. It's all about pressured, on-the-spot sales. We just had someone from Joshua's Pest Control come to our door asking to treat. After ringing the doorbell twice and knocking on the door. I finally answered. I told him we were not interested four times and he still just kept talking even as I was nicely shutting the door. I haven't used you all for pest control- but I won't be using you in the future because of this interaction. Next time just leave your card after I say we are not interested the first time and tell me why we should use you in the future. I know selling door to door is difficult, but please be respectful. read more

Let's start with the sales tactics: Extremely pushy. They try to sell you on a base price that includes a discount because "you're neighbors have signed up with us." Spoiler: they haven't. I Know they haven't because one of they neighbors they stated signed up with them, works for another pest control business. Oops. They will claim that they are giving you a $60 per visit discount, however at a $270 initial visit, plus $175 per quarter visit, this puts their pricing above even the big nationwide programs, without their $240, yearly discount. But where it gets really shady is the day prior, the same salesman who came to my door today, was seen running away from my front door the day before. (caught on my security camera) The doorbell wasn't pushed, the camera just activated and he can bee seen running away from the front door. I'm not suggesting he did anything unscrupulous during his previous days visit, however based upon the nature of his sales tactics (wouldn't take no for an answer, continued yelling through the door after I bid him farewell) I wouldn't put it passed him. I will stick with the company I already use, and would recommend you seek out other more reputable companies. read more

Door to Door sales-person blatantly LIED about there not being a termination fee within the first 12 months. He stated over and over that they wanted to 'earn our business' and they 'requested a period of 12 months of service in order to see full effects' of the treatments. The 'contract' (which was presented to me to sign as an 'authorization for debit card payment'), was on a tablet, and I never received a copy of said 'contract' via email as they said I would. We had 8 dogs in one large house for the summer while my house was being renovated. And our female had 11 aussie pups with 2 cats outside. We had been with another pest control company for 14 years. We had a huge mite and flea, and wasp problem that had developed starting summer. Couldnt get control of. A knock at the door around 530 and 2 hours later with 3 phone calls and 5 texts to the owner, visit lasting till 7pm on our account we signed the contract for the year. 30 day cancellation window free if not satisfied. 9 months later and 6 total visits at no charge, just paying our quarterly price, we are still extremely happy. We have been free of fleas, mites, mice, wasps and all insects with an outstanding report for every service man that has been here. Carl most helpful due to his past in the pet industry helping with his knowledge of prevevtative care for our animals in fleas and ticks and best foods for our animals even. We have 23, 25 foot or bigger evergreens surounding our house with 5 other full grown mature trees including 3 of them oak trees. Our animals have been at peace along with our maintenance helping the dogs with flea baths, every week to help trying to get control over the pests. We have had a perfect success story with this company. When we were in the middle of the combat fight against the festation of millions of fleas and mites in our home, talking 7200 sq ft. ......Joshuas had them laying in the battle fields for good with 2 visits the first quarter. The next quarter the service man was informed about our history and made preventative measures by spraying very thororughly around and in the house. We just had our next quarter follow up and Carl is the man to talk with on animal and pest control. He gave us some very important instructions guiding us in even a better pest free maintenance living conditions. Very, very thorough and well stocked knowledge file index on his shoulders. Very patient in answering any question i had need of. If there were more stars than 5, than i would pick the highest. Not forgetting the office. I have received the best customer service from every gal in that office. Never have had any negative tones, no unhappy gals answering the phones, and never having to wait for anything when i have called for questions and asking for the service guy to bring this or that out when we were empty of bait boxes, etc. Every position i have encountered starting with the owner day 1 has been nothing but all employees going above and beyond their direct positions. Not satisfied with this outfit. First they sent out a college kid that went door to door in my neighborhood soliciting for business. The salesman told me he just serviced a couple of my neighbors, but could not name any. Then he promised me the world and said they would treat and get rid of any pests. When I asked what type of chemicals they used he was not knowledgeable but assured me they were safe for children and pets. When I told him we already had our property treated, his attitude changed and he started to tell me that whoever did the treatment used an ineffective diluted water mix and that Joshua's pest control was the real deal. When I told him no thanks, he walked away and I heard him call me a bitch. Unacceptable. read more

Horrible experience. They told us ingredients were all natural and sent a text with ingredients: thyme, lemon grass, citronella,vinegar, isopropyl alcohol, sodium Lauryl sulfate. The failed to leave out deltamethrin. This key ingredient is neuro toxic to humans. My skin started burning from sitting in the patio. My skin was itching, red, and felt as if it was on fire. We finally figured it out once we realized it was every time I sat on her patio sofa which they must've got the dust all over. It was all over the floor, we noticed, when the exterminator left. We told the representative from the company that we had auto immune illness and did not want any chemicals around our house.He explained that everything was natural ingredients. He says it was based off chrysanthemums. He then sent us the list above. When my husband called the company to talk to the manager. He was rude and insisted it was impossible. Horrible customer service. Take ownership of the toxic chemicals you're selling as natural ingredients. read more

I have not used this company, nor would I ever. Their sales person has been in our part of town for the last 2 weeks. He is pushy beyond belief, won't take no for answer (I had to shut the door in his face after telling him 3 times that I wasn't interested), lied about our neighbor Jim who just signed up! We have no neighbor by the name of Jim in the direction he was pointing. I'm not the only person who thinks this way, complaints about this are coming from all the neighborhoods who are linked on Nextdoor. I never ever normally consider door to door sales. Not quite sure why I did this time, but Scott Weston was nice, polite and yes persistent. And my neighbor has voles, so I thought I maybe should do preventive action. Jason arrived on time and was super polite. He even knocked out old wasp nests out of my deck railing that wasn't easy to find or get to. I think these are good, hard-working kids, paying their way thru college. Good for them. I guess I got the worst of the worse when dealing with Joshua's Pest Control. I requested my yard to be "sprayed" around the foundation last Fall when they convinced me I needed their service after patrolling my neighborhood for a week. I signed up for a year and figured, sure, why not. When I got home after my first treatment, there was pesticide all over my back deck and patio and yard (and I have a dog and I mentioned it several times to them prior to their visit). There was also white powdery dust all over my window trims (which are brown), so it looked terrible and I washed it off. They also left a nice mouse baiting station in my back yard that I never requested that only seemed to bring mice to my back door and into my house. I was furious about the poison scattered through out my yard I refused to call them back. Of course they will charge you a full years of service even though their so called "expert" couldn't follow simple instructions like not leave poison in my backyard. I've told all my neighbors and family to avoid them and will be posting more negative reviews on other message boards. read more

Someone from your company just rang my doorbell at 8:20 on a Friday night. All three of my little ones were in bed & asleep and now all three are awake and baby crying. I don't appreciate a door to door sales person ringing the bell this late--especially in a neighborhood with young children. My porch lights are off and blinds are closed. I've had terrible experiences with both the way this company 'operates' and with the pricing system being used. This company doesn't care about anything other than money, which is so blatantly obvious that the owner should make himself sick. But let's start with the pricing system... or lack thereof. I was paying $119 for my 1000 square-foot home, with a small, almost sorry-for-an-excuse backyard... yet my neighbor, with more than twice the square footage and three times the yard, is paying $109. How does this make any sense? Do you even have a pricing guideline in place? And then there's the 're-service' option. If I had known that I could have a tech come out and re-service my home, you bet your hiney I would have taken complete advantage of that-- which I assume most people do. Why wouldn't they? Offer up unlimited re-services and you're welcoming people to walk all over you. Oh but it gets even better... call in and complain and get a DISCOUNT! Again-- another thing I would have taken advantage of, had my neighbor and I had this discussion prior to my cancellation. This company's office staff practically shove discounts and free re-services down your throat if you're even a tad unhappy with your service. While they may think that's a good business tactic, it's the complete opposite. You're inviting your client base to run your business for you-- letting them dictate what they're going to get. And in this case, maybe that's the better option since the owner clearly doesn't know how to run the place. When I called to cancel my service, they all but begged me to stay, offering free treatments. How are you even making a profit? However, I will say that the technicians that came to my house (with the exception of one) were wonderful. How you managed to find/keep them is beyond me. My first service set the bar high, as I was completely surprised with how professional and attentive my tech was. He was able to answer every question and give suggestions on things that I hadn't even considered. Mind you-- these were questions that I had asked the office staff over the phone... and got a response filled with rambling that didn't have anything to do with my question. So to be honest, I didn't have a very good feeling about that first service until the tech showed up. He probably saved my service, to be honest. Is your office staff trained before being thrown onto the phones? Yikes. Anyway, back to the first service. That day, I remember the temp reaching 100 degrees, because I was concerned about him working in the heat. He not only completely satisfied me with the service, but he didn't complain once about being tired-- even though he was clearly exhausted. I invited and more-so encouraged him to sit and cool off for a couple of minutes but he politely declined, saying he still had houses to service and didn't want to get behind. Here it was three o'clock in the afternoon, completely exhausted, and was still going full speed ahead. Good for him. He clearly needs to move on to find a better employer, because you don't deserve him. I made sure to tell him that during my last service and I hope he took it to heart. Joshua's Pest Control-- Don't even bother wasting your time commenting on my review, as nothing you say will justify your lack of morals or the way you 'run' your business. I'm impressed that they have a 3 star rating to be quite honest. After reading the reviews and speaking to my neighbors that use them, Lupe may have a 5 star rating and the rest hovering around 1-2 stars. The problem is that it's Joshua's Pest, not Lupe's Pest. SO why the 1 star... It wouldn't allow me not to give them a star. First, the sales pitch was less than impressive and the guy was pushy. I wasn't so concerned about that because that's expected with sales guys. "Buy today or risk getting left with the rodents." It's the fact that in the following months, everything the sales guy told me was a huge lie. "we do the inside and outside... everytime." I remember that because I asked him, "How does that work if I'm not home?" He proceeds to tell me that he'll make special notes to make sure I'm home when it's done and that if they miss the inside, they will come back on the weekend when we are home. "They will also come back anytime we need them for free." That's not a lie, they will come back... BUT it's when they have time to come back or if they really really screw something up like this last time and then let's pull some strings because this was a big mistake. So let's dive into their process. The sales guy says the first appointment will be on "xyz" date as he will be in the area. He says, "He'll start on the outside at 4 so when you arrive, he'll be ready to do the inside." "XYZ" comes and I arrange my work schedule to be home at that time. Email comes in about 10AM, "Hey, I'm so and so your trusted pest control man... your house is complete!" Not 2pm or not even a phone call to say, I saw that you needed me here at 4pm, I will return. Nope... not at all. So we call and arrange for them to come by during the day when my mom is in town babysitting our kids with our daycare provider out. Over the weekend I am explaining to my parents my frustration and my mom says, "I remember letting him in, he asked for the basement and was down there about 3 minutes and then he comes back up and says, "My work here is done, adios!" So he didn't go upstairs? or to the garage?? Nope. If I had known that at the time, I would have made a call back then, but my mom didn't rat him out, she didn't know any better. So fast forward a couple weeks and we have ants and silver fish and we have mounds popping up in the backyard for rodents. The guy came in and sprayed the baseboards and said, "You have Voles (not moles) with the spray and the bait box give it three weeks and you'll see changes." We saw changes, my back yard had more holes and more tunnels. It looked like lightening hit the grass and killed it in areas. The ground moves under your feet I'm mowing the lawn leaving huge divots in the ground, but the guy said three weeks. Give it three weeks, he's the pest guy, he's the expert, he knows right?? Two weeks in and my wife can't take the ants anymore, they seem to have multiplied. So I look up a recipe online for Borax, Sugar and hot water. Cost me a total of $4 to make and put it on cotton balls and placed them throughout the house. Ants were gone in 48 hours. Thank the Lord for google. A few weeks go by and I'm on the road for work and when I get home my daughter (2.5years old) has a huge knot on her arm, swollen and red. We take her to the doctor and he thinks its a spider bite, gives us some medical cream. Ironically, I just received our quarterly bill for $140 for which they knocked the spider webs down. Which I know they didn't do because the big spider that is suspended outside our window is still there in his full circle of webbing just relaxing. So I call Joshua's and voice my displeasure with their service. 1.) the spray inside the house isn't working, 2.) the sweeping of the spiders outside isn't being done because I'm counting 8 spider webs on my garage. 3.) my backyard is a miniature battle ground re-enactment of caddy shack. 4.) Your sales guy says they will be here when I'm here and do the inside and that hasn't happened yet. Now I'm dealing with Stephanie and she's sweet and probably really versed on dealing with this because it's probably a regular day for her. But she assures me that this will all get taken care of and they will have a guy in my area in a week. Gotta be less wordy so here is the skinny. The top guy is coming out to service us. He shows up early, unlike we planned, Steph didn't share her notes with him, he doesn't do diddly spider webs still in plain site, I'm upset call Kristin and Steph and they send out Nick. We walk the house, he is embarrassed (his actions not his words) he defends Joshua's, The voles are moles changes how to attack them, NICK did a great job he apologizes and leaves and not one follow up call. Not one... disappointed in the whole process. Do yourself a favor and always get Lupe or look elsewhere. So much more bad things to say unfortunately I'm out of time. read more
