This company serviced our home for 5+ years. Two years ago they sold us on a $1800 termite bait system, even though we had never seen a termite or evidence. They convinced us it was good prevention! We had signs of mice, but they had never treated the property for mice. We called and they brought out mouse bait boxes but we continued to see mice outside. They asked to do an attic inspection and proceeded to try to sell us on $16,000 of replacing our existing blown in insulation and replacing new "Foam" attic insulation that was "better" and would prevent mice. Claimed mouse urine would cause mold! I decided to cancel their service at which time they informed me they would come remove the $1,800 termite bait boxes. When I asked what the $1800 paid for, they wanted to send me their "written agreement". Don't do business with this company, they will try to sell you what you don't need and take advantage of you if they can! Extremally disappointed in how they handled this. I normly don't sign up for service from people selling door to door but I was getting to ready to look for a pest control company. Jeremiah appeared at my door and he was well groomed, very efficient and friendly young man. He sold me on the service. The very next day Carl showed up to provide the service. My service time was between 5 and 7 and he was knocking on my door at exactly 5 pm. He was friendly fast and efficient. He explained what he had done and what he had used to begin my war on pests. in addition I appreciated that he wore covers on his shoes. The fact that they will come back for free between quarterly visits if I need them was a big selling point. read more

The salesperson was going door to door, using the "your neighbor's "The Jone's" use us, today I can give you a special rate..." I should have trusted my instincts. I said I do not want to sign a contract until I see how well service works. I was having an outside ANT problem. Sprayed once, charged me $150, wanted me to put a credit card on file i refused. I called in 3 weeks for a "re-spray" they said I didn't have a "contract" but currently are billing me for a "spray" which they have not done because I have a "contract". They told my family multiple times that their products were safe for dogs. My dog got very sick after they came and we had to call animal poison control, who said the products used were poisonous to dogs. When we called Joshua's later, they knew that other dogs had gotten sick from their products, yet they still told us their products are safe. read more

I would do zero stars if possible. Their services did not work well. We were able to deal with the ants more effectively by ourselves. When we tried to cancel via email AND voicemail in September, it didn't get processed apparently. Recently, while we were at a local park, they stopped by and did a treatment (it is December right now) and charged me for it. They have my debit card on file and so there is nothing I can do. I have to pay the $150 even though I thought I cancelled months ago. I cancelled yet again today by talking to a representative. They were giving me 20 questions about why I was cancelling. I'm still concerned that they will charge my debit card when they want money so I have had to cancel my debit card. Basically, I feel like giving them your debit card info is equivalent to giving it to a crook. Avoid this company. They are ineffective and not trustworthy. read more

This is an update from a previous post about my dog dying. Since my post I have been contacted by Joshua's. They have been out to the house to investigate probable causes to my dogs being sick and dying. They have gone beyond the call of duty to determine uf any of their products could have contributed to these problems. So far no issues discovered and it now appears it may something else altogether. They are continuing their investigation and have promised to keep me posted. No other problems with animals in over 15,000 subscribers. I will lkeep my contract wit Joshua's. read more

I understand what all are saying about the sales tactics, but... I don't think it is fair to kill their service over their marketing. I myself have never had them knock on my door maybe because Leawood is more strict IDK. They have great service techs and great follow up. If it was not for them I would have pests everywhere because I always forget my quarterly. Brandon is our fave and he did a great time today as well. He always does what he says he will do and explains just enough for me to get the point but doesn't bs too much! He is very good at his job. Had this services for first year and was unsatisfied with quality. Overpriced and very little results. Mo over one you sign up contract with them the make it very hard to cancel. I thought I cancel service 5 months ago, but just yesterday got visit from them. The technician come over and start spraying some thing around my back yard. When we told hem that we cancel services last year he went to his car talk to some one on his phone and then send bill to as for service that should not be there in the first place. Is anyone as disappointed with Joshua's Pest Control as I am? I usually don't like to post negative reviews but I've seen their trucks in our neighborhood a lot lately and thought I'd take a second to recommend another company that, in my opinion, provides much better service at a MUCH cheaper cost. I've been living in my house for several years now. We've used EcoPest Services the entire and have been very happy with no complaints. I recently made the mistake of falling for a lot of pretty words and promises from a door-to-door sales rep from Joshua's Pest Control. If they've been to your house you are aware how smooth talking, persistent, and somewhat pushy they can be...claiming to give you a "special deal" because they know neighbors talk. Shame on me for falling for this and signing on the dotted line of a very expensive sevice agreement! Long story longer, after having zero bug/pest issues we've actually had a problem with spiders this year. I'm not saying Joshua's Pest Control caused the issue but I am saying that it only took one visit from EcoPest Services to fix it after having multiple visits from Joshua's. I decided to cancel our service agreement with Joshua's Pest Control, which cost us an absurd $140 cancellation fee. From what I've read online and people I've talked to around the neighborhood it seems that you either love Joshua's Pest Control or you don't...we don't. This is just my opinion based on our experience. On a more positive note, I will say that all of the customer service representatives at Joshua's Pest Control are actually quite friendly and nice. Unfortunately, being friendly and nice didn't help my spider problem or my pocket book. If you're looking for a high quality pest prevention plan at a great price from a very knowledgeable company I highly recommend EcoPest Services. I would not recommend Joshua's Pest Control. Lesson learned! UPDATE: Joshua's Pest Control did contact me after reading my review. They were very professional and did make an effort to rectify the situation by reimbursing the cancellation fee, addressing my concerns, and providing an apology for my frustrations. The last two visits have been disappointing. I would not recommend this company. I don't think the technicians that come out even look at what is noted that needs to be looked at. Last visit I told them we had wasp nest, still there along with spider webs they claimed to knock down. Visit before they sprayed my dogs water bowl, so I won't have them treat the indoors. They are rather pricey too. Time to start looking elsewhere. read more

I rarely do any reviews but I'm at the point of being annoyed. We had a guy come knock on our door 4 times within 2 days. After the second time I kindly told him we weren't interested (we use a different pest company) and he immediately talked about how bad that company was. I again, told him we weren't interested in their services. The next day he came back twice. We didn't answer the door. Way too pushy and they need to learn how to take "No" for an answer. read more

This relationship started off well. The guy came out explained to me what I needed to do and to call if I had any problems. He was an ex employee of an competitor. Lately it's been someone new and I've always ask that they set an appointment with me because I like to be home for them to do the inside. No they come when they want to and then leave a note in the door. Well today it happened again. The tech rings the doorbell and disappears. He's in my yard putting down something....my yard is snow packed...?? I told him I didn't need my snow packed yard treated.He leaves and a couple hours later he returns to wipe down the eaves on my front porch. This is not worth $126. This is a rip off!!! Watch them very closely... I called their office and was told they tried calling me but couldn't leave a message?? Seems fishy to me. One you sign the contract the salesman explains it's a quarterly service that you'll pay full price for each of their 4 treatments. Treatments didn't work, so we tried to cancel.
