The younger guy at the shop was scratching his beard with his gloves on, then he turned around and started cutting meat without changing his glove. Everything cut to order while you wait. Some patrons order ahead and have their order ready and waiting when they arrive, but I haven't tried this. I have purchased goat and lamb here. The quality and service are both excellent. I particularly like goat. The lamb is also good, but the somewhat stronger flavor of goat is more to my taste. Goat liver is also good. Similar to beef liver and is best with an ample quantity of sautéed red onions, some salt and pepper, and whatever else you care to add in addition to the essential ingredients. read more

Wonderful store and very friendly staff. I came in with some questions about lamb and they took their time to explain the different aspects to me. When I got home I cooked some of the meat and it was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The prices are also super reasonable so, in my opinion, it makes buying meat here vs the supermarket a no brainier. I will definitely be back. read more

i'm very surprised by the bad reviews. just recently went to get a lamb leg and after going to a sketchy place, ended up at jouni. the guy that helped us was super nice and explained everything. since i had went to a couple butchers prior to stopping in, i can tell you , the prices are pretty comparable. i got a lamb leg completely de-boned and was walking out the door in about 10 minutes. great service, very clean. love, juston read more

I don't normally write reviews but I'd feel bad for future customers if I don't share my experience. We bought meat from this store only to find out it was rotten and smelled awful. After going out in the cold we expected better quality- or at least the bare minimum of meat that had not already gone bad. Our time, money, and effort were wasted. Needless to say, we will never buy our meat from here again. read more

Some of the best halal meat in the area. It's definitely pricier than others but they really know how to marble their steaks properly. We always get our red meats such as steaks, lamb, brisket here and we have never been disappointed. If you want quality HALAL meat like you see in the high end butcher shops, this is your place. read more

I have been going to Jouni meats for the last year as I love their quality of meat. However, my last experience left me unsatisfied. I ordered 2 lbs of lamb shoulder at 5.49$/lb. I asked for it to be cut into 2 inch pieces. I pay and noticed after that I was charged 7.99$/lb. I asked the gentlemen why I was charged an extra 2.50$/lb and was told because they cut and cleaned the meat for me and because I only ordered a few pounds. I do not mind paying a higher price if advertised however, I was never told that I would be charged nearly 5$ extra for the meat (nearly a 50% markup). If you will charge extra, then do it in an honest way and let the customer know before hand. I wish Jouni all the success in their business but I hope they learn honesty and have lost a customer. read more

The quality of their meats is not good. But that is not the worst thing about this place. Their customer service is horrible! I asked for a pound of ground beef. They gave me less than a pound, but were still charging for a full pound. They said this was because they had cut of all of the fat. But, I hadn't asked for lean meat; I had asked for regular. I explained this to them. The butcher's attitude towards me was very rude; he was talking down to me. And then, instead of working with me, he walked away and said then don't get the meat. And this was the day before Ramadan! You should never deny customers food, but on this day I felt it was especially bad. Never have owners treated me so rudely that I felt like crying afterwards, but this place did! STAY AWAY! read more

I have been to this place for few times and every time they gave me the chicken that was little reddish.which means it is not fresh rather sitting in the freezer for a while. Chicken is fresh when it looks pinkish. I moved to Troy so bought chicken here few times before finally deciding on driving extra miles to other halal meat places than be sold old stock. Horrible customer service.Once i asked for a whole chicken but they gave less.And there was also second bad experience...the whole chicken meat i ordered is full of bones and nothing else (with not much meat) and the taste after cooking was not that good...it smelled odd and the meat was definitely not fresh...i will never go back to that place. read more

One star is too much to give. Rude customer service! Scammers! Will wrap OLD meat with new meat to make it look fresh...then sell you less than you paid for. Stay away. Healthier foods found elsewhere. What they do and lie about is certainly NOT halal, nor would I expect that their meat was! read more

Ask me three weeks ago this place would have gotten 5 stars however I now realize what their business model is. My wife and I have been going there for about 2 years now. They have always treated us well and always had fresh meat, until they started getting comfortable with us. We started getting meat that wasn't quite as fresh as it used to be but after what happened most recently these people should be ashamed of themselves. I ordered an entire lamb for my daughters aqekah. They were to ground some meat and chunk some meat. I was told to pick it up in about 5 days. 5 days come n then I'm told the lamb was too fatty give me 4 more days. Ok no problem, 4 days come and was told it just got slaughtered pick it up tomorrow. I go pick up the meat I notice its really red, I figured it must be really fresh no big deal. A week or so goes by we donated some of the meat and made meat pies. The meat pies didn't taste right. again no big deal maybe the baker messed up. the next day we made rice with some of the ground lamb meat. The rice turned Pink!!!! The meat was died! I call and speak with Eddy and he tells me my meat must have gotten switched with a restaurants because some restaurants want their meat died. WTF!!! Needless to say these people should be absolutely ashamed of themselves and my family will never go back and I would highly recommend no one else does either. Imagine what they can do if they maliciously screw up a aqekah. SHAME!!! read more
