My only complaint is that the yams were very very stringy. Because i stayed 30 minutes from the location I could not drive back right away. I asked if they had short ribs, and the tall butcher said "definitely" - He took me in the back where he wielded the biggest filet knife I ever saw and trimmed the ribs (about 20" long) before he took them to the band saw. Finally they looked like short ribs! I paid what I had planned to based on my scouting trip to Costco, but definitely got enough for the upcoming meal plus a few more. Great experience! real old school, the butcher learned everything he knows from the owner. I think the son Barry was in the office. Oh yeah and the pizza was great too, quite a few people eating / getting pizza at 2 :30 on a Wednesday!

However I was not too thrilled looking at the cleanliness of the cooler cases or the way the more unusual meats were set out for sale. The interior was cold enough I guess but it could have been cleaner. The meat smelled fresh though and the staff was helpful prices were good. Overall ok but I think I will stick to a few others in Eastern Market for my meats.

I ordered the Barbabietole (Roasted beets, whipped Gorgonzola, pistachios, glazed carrots) salad with North Atlantic salmon on the side. The salmon was grilled and topped with a fabulous pesto sauce. The salad with all those healthy ingredients was amazing! We sat at the bar with a nice view of the restaurant. Our bartender, Rodney, was extremely attentive. He could be a waiter in a 5 Star restaurant! I had to try the Tiramisu for dessert, because it is one of my favorites. It was delicious, I highly recommend it.
