Being married to Pole who immigrated to America when she was a child, I am exposed on a regular to Polish cuisine to include Kielbasa from the various Polish stores/markets scattered across metro Detroit. Having said that, Kielbasa at most of these businesses is far superior to the crap, I'm sorry "stuff" you buy in your local grocery stores where Srodeks is idefinately in the upper tier of these better businesses. The Sausage from here is always fresh and oh so tasty. Aside from the sausage you will find a wide variety of other Polish foods to select from to include a wide selection of lunchmeat, Pierogi, breads, pastries/cookies, jarred/pickled vegetables, Jams, syrups, honey, cheeses and the list goes on and on. The business is a fairly decent trek for me coming from West Bloomfield but is worth the trip based on the variety and quality of what this business has to offer. Wanted check the place out. I'm glad I did. Picked up a few things. I got some stuffed cabbage from the prepared food section. I heated them up when I got home and thru were very good. I also bought Detroit baked beans and German potato salad. I had samples and really like them. I purchased some soups that were frozen Leek soup, tomato and noodle also borscht. Srodek's family business started in 1981 in the heart of a Polish community in Hamtramck. They still specialize today and focus on Delicious Polish and European food traditions. They use the fresh cuts of meat and with their ingredients for flavor. There's a Delicatessen, Condiment Area, Aisles of groceries and pottery plus clothing and apparel throughout the store. The employee's are helpful and the store is always organized and clean. Love the daily FREE Samples too. (Photos attached of course) I have a system to shop at Srodek's 3 to 4 times a yearly for holidays, and when I get my SpecialK cravings to buy, cook and enjoy a Polish Meal at home. Both My deceased parents were 100% Polish therefore I am 200% ! :-) Since this location opened, I will always shop here for my favorite foods, cookies, jars of sides, fresh lunchmeats and sausage, pierogi frozen or refrigerated and Polish candies too! When I walk inside I feel like I am in Poland. Sometimes I will look for Maddie to chat with who is the Owner and Manager of her Famous Family Polish Business. My husband bought the already made & pre-package stuffed cabbage. 8 to a package with very little sauce. No flavor, No rice. Very small. Just awful. This is a BIG Disappointment! They were $12.99 a package. Ended throwing them away. read more

A year ago I wrote a review about how bad Srodek's had become and how I would not be going back after decades of eating their kielbasa and pierogi. Well, a few weeks ago, my 88 year-old cousin practically begged me to take her there so she could get her supplies for the Xmas holidays. I love poledvica - smoked pork loin - and decided to get a large chunk while I was there. The next day I had some and and hour later had a stomach ache that lasted all day, as well as a strange taste in my mouth. I didn't suspect the meat since it was so fresh, but the next day, I had a bit more, with the same result: a bad stomach ache and a really weird taste I couldn't get rid of. So I threw away about $20 of my beloved smoked pork, and renewed my vow to NEVER go to Srodek's. So yesterday, my spouse and I went to my cousin's for dinner and she told us that the kielbasa she bought turned out to be rancid and when she served it on Xmas day, she, along with others got sick. This seems to be more than a coincidence. Find another place to get your Polish food unless you are willing to risk getting spoiled food that makes you sick. I will be contacting the Macomb County Health Department to inform them of this incident. read more

Srodek is a Polish grocery store . We ordered meats,chips, and deli items. There was free samples so we tried some. We ended up getting the Strawberry fluff as our son loved it. As of this review, (June 2022) there is construction so getting there is a little challenging. Srodek has a private parking lot. The store is clean and the staff members are helpful and friendly. I would recommend Srodek if you are in market for Polish food. They have two grocery stores the other location is in Hamtramck. read more

Thanks for ruining Easter! Potato pancakes all burnt before I even warmed them up. Barley soap, not even sure what it was all grease. Dill Pickle soup, freezer burned and way to sour. Keilbasa we bought from fundraiser was absolutely gross and the sauerkraut had zero taste and greasy. I'll will never go to this place again. read more

I first tried Srodek's pierogies in 2016, I believe ... someone I knew who was living in Hamtramck at the time brought me some. A friend brought me some from the Hamtramck location last week and this week since I have some spare time I decided to check out the Sterling Heights location; it's only about a 15-minute drive from my house. First off, pretty much ANY type of pierogi you want is here. I ended up buying the potato, garlic, & chives kind - this was the kind my friend brought me last week but it was mislabeled, and I think was farmer's cheese instead (but was delicious) - as well as blueberry pierogies for breakfast or dessert. I also got some of the kolaczki pastries/cookies, some raspberry ones, and I just had one and that was amazing too. I looked in their candy aisle for some Polish candies that a neighbor gave my parents once (gummies/jellies covered in chocolate) but unfortunately could not find any; instead I ended up buying a hazelnut bar for 79c. I didn't think they had shopping carts here but they do have them - it's to the left of the door when you walk in. All employees were wearing masks. The store was smaller than I thought it would but but they do have a huge selection of pierogies as well as other things like jarred items (pickles, etc.), and a deli counter. Some pierogi flavors I saw: -Literally any type of potato flavor you want. -Farmer's cheese: with or without sugar, with vanilla flavoring, etc. -Dessert/breakfast ones: cherry and blueberry -Cheeseburger -Pizza -Breakfast pierogi And you can read the full list on their site. Something to note: all pierogies are in a freezer case, so if you were planning on cooking them right away, you will have to let them defrost. There was a lady shopping near me that said she was surprised about that. I think it was about $5.49 for a 7- or 8-pack of pierogies, or you could do $7 for a dozen, which for handmade pierogi is a fair price, too. The kolaczki were also $5.49, which is more than what I was expecting, but like I said, they are ridiculously good. Definitely recommend this location and maybe at some point I'll finally check out the Hamtramck location in-person too. Ample parking and easy to get to off of Mound Rd. read more

I love this location in Sterling Heights. When I want pierogi, this is where I get them. They have a few choices of fresh and a lot of choices of frozen. If you want it, they have it. Per of the website, since I placed my order on Friday (12 January), it should have gone out in the mail Monday (15 January) for the $28.28 2-day delivery I paid for. Yet it did not ship until 17 January and was not delivered until 23 January. Eleven days for 2-day delivery. I paid $58.28 total for 24 sub par pierogi to take 10 days to ship. High expectations, very underwhelmed. The place looks palatial on the outside, but you walk in, and despite the 20 ft high ceilings, the place is cramped. Specifically went there for pierogies to bring to a brunch, and was surprised on how many different varieties they had, but very expensive. I went with sweet farmers cheese, blueberry, philly steak & cheese, and corned beef & swiss. The cheese, philly & corned beef were by the dozen, but I think the blueberry was by the pound, since I only got 10 pierogies. The farmers cheese were everything I wanted them to be. The corned beef ones were very corned beefy with no taste of swiss in sight. The philly steak variety was borderline disgusting, the filling was beige, ground, mushy, and tasted faintly like chicken, no pepper, onion, steak or cheese flavors whatsoever. After 1 bite, those all went into the trash. Lastly, the blueberry I thought would have like a pie filling in it, but it was blue potato filling (heard it's potato flakes), and no flavor of blueberries. These too were quite gross. The farmers cheese pierogies were the only saving grace for me, and is the only reason they got 3 stars instead of 1. read more

1st. Time at the "new" location. Read about cherry filled pierogis and wanted to try them. purchased some farmers cheese ones also. Was concerned that cherry was going to taste more like a dessert. What a find. So, have been to the Hamtramck location. Just happened to be on my way to a class, and lo and behold, a 2nd Srodek's just happened to be on my route. What a delight. The staff are super nice. The free smells from the meat counter are an olfactory delight! Kiszka to die for- NOT frozen. The aisles and shelves are pristine-my mom would've given them the White Glove award-the place is spotless! Had the dill pickle soup at the little bistro next door-very good.. I will be calling to see when they have czarnina-will come back again with a cooler to take some goodies home, including the frozen czarnina if that's all they have. Not very impressed. I still prefer Polish Store on 15th. The store was pretty empty, not much customers and the selection was also not as good, no fresh bread, major polish sweets were not available, no polish dairy items. They have many pierogies in refrigerator but they are very expensive and we didn't buy any. It looks much bigger from the outside so I was disappointed to see how small it was inside. I wish I had something better to say. Clean and new facility, yes! Decent sausage, yes, but no good variety. It was insulting to ask the meat attended if they had kiełbasa ​czosnkowa. His response "all our sausage has garlic". Feh! Sorry, wrong answer! Very over priced, the pierogi, good gosh, who likes it? Not sure. This is not even close to the low quality pierogi sold at Gordon food service. BIG BIG Store yet they can't even compete with Bozek market just a few miles away The service was WONDERFUL, the meats are good, but not of same variety and amounts as Bozek. The pierogi and gołąbki were ok, just sub-par on many levels and not worth going back for. Having come from Indiana, Srodek is not a store I'll ever visit again if I'm in the neighborhood. Everything I've ever had from here is amazing! The Sausage and Kraut is the best in the area by far. The Hunter's Sausage is amazing, we tried Fire, Pepper Jack, Jalapeno, and regular. They have dozens of varieties of pierogi to try, from pulled pork, coney dog, breakfast, you name it. Plus the classics, kraut, potato & cheese, etc. On top of that there is a large variety of polish groceries and I was very excited to see Ketchup Potato Chips which you can really only get in Canada. The owner was very friendly and hospitable as well! Definitely worth checking out! read more

This polish market is fantastic. This was my first time here and I couldn't believe how well stocked this store is. Normally, I drive to Hamtramck for specialty items, but this was a convenient location. I was on a mission to find the best sausage for a friend. I did my research and was happy to find a great variety available. They produce their own sausage at this facility. I ended up buying both pork and veal. I also purchased specialty items to go with the charcuterie board. They have a great variety of mustards, jams, cheeses, and premade items such as soup and pierogis. Went to Srodek's to pick up some groceries for my Polish grandpa. The quality of service was amazing. Given COVID, we waited by the door and were greeted by an employee, given gloves, and a freshly wiped cart. They went the extra mile to make us feel both safe and welcome in the store. There's a collection of pierogis here like I've never seen before- pretty much any flavor under the sun is available! The fresh meat and deli counter had everything we were looking for. The prices on some items may be slightly higher than what you would expect from a big box store, but still reasonable (and especially nice to shop from a small, local business!) Will surely be back soon for some more kielbasa and Chrusciki! read more

Still the best! Srodek's has the best Polish food you can find - from their delicious kielbasa (I like the smoked) to their pierogi and everything in between. They've expanded from the tradition line-up of pierogi and now have other cool flavors like Coney, Pizza and others - but, my favorite Corned Beef & Swiss pierogi might be the best thing ever. There's so much to suggest: the variety of hunter sausage, the mustard (yeah, even the mustard is out of this world), the crepes, the kielbasa grillers cheddar cheese, pepper jack and more are perfect for the BBQ, and so much more. Wow were we disappointed! We were looking forward to a good Polish dinner. We got a few different kinds of pierogi, kielbasa and pickle soup. The pickle soup had no pieces of pickles or potatoes, or anything, and I it was so overly salted, we could barely eat it. The sauerkraut pierogi were also so incredibly salty they were inedible. The blueberry pierogi were just...weird. Why on earth would you put potato flakes in the filling? Fruit pierogi should be a bit juicy and have pieces of fruit in them. This filling was like blueberry flavored mashed potatoes! The only reason I was able to give 2 stars, was because the potato pierogi and the fresh kielbasa were pretty good. I was there today and wanted to return my 85 year old uncles perogies as they weren't the same quality he had in the past. I explained this to the cashier who said she had to get the mgr. I wait several minutes and the owner appeared and said "I am the owner how can I help you". I explained I have severe PTSD and don't have the mental energy to say it again and was surprised she wasn't briefed with such a small store with no customers or employees in site not to mention the stress of waiting for so long. She acknowledged I have PTSD and asked if I wanted the cashier to brief her. OMG it doesn't matter what my health issues are, think about the time being wasted of all customers not just ones with PTSD. 30 years ago I worked for a grocery store and we returned without a receipt if it kept the customer happy and only gave store credit and she wouldn't even do this. I have no problem with this but I have a HUGE problem with them smiling and laughing at my disability and they walked away to talk and couldn't speak in front of me and I don't know why. To ALL veterans and other trauma survivors this owner may be able to open a business but her education on how to keep the people flowing in the door is absent. She even tried to call my 85 year old uncle a liar because his memory may be bad and one of the packages was bought somewhere else and I brought them here because he said he got them there, the other ones had the Srodeks sticker. All she had to say is "This wasn't bought here", the fact that she went so far to call him a liar says she is angry and unhealed about something that's not the customers fault. All of this combative behavior from the OWNER and she was more about being right than respecting a disability and keeping a customer. I have a lot of family from Poland who I buy for and I will NEVER be back here because of how I was spoken to and how she laughed at people with PTSD. Maybe she needs 4 decades of abuse to see what it feels like so she can stop laughing at others. read more

Outstanding dishes, best tasting pierogies that I can find especially their sauerkraut and sweet cheese pierogies. Their kielbasa and sausages are delicious and store in the freezer for a long time. They have a great selection of Imported foods that I stocked up on. They deliver their frozen products but charged an extremely high delivery charge when delivered out of state. read more

Srodek's Sterling Heights, MI Location- NOTE: Use caution: Expired items on the shelf and in refrigerators. At times the store smells like sewer. A customer can spend a lot of money at a store however "management" complains and berates (scold or criticize (someone) angrily.), about using one (1) extra plastic bag. The store should invest in using quality deli bags. The little girl who may be a manager gives Srodek a bad name. The "manager" needs better customer service skills or this store will lose business. read more

Today my wife and I took a trip to Srodek's in Sterling heights, Mi. Soon as I walked I reminded of the Polish and German Butcher's shops on the east of Detroit. Also like the ones in Hamtramck. All the polish imported canned good, the jellies and cookies. The smell of fresh smoke meat made me drool. Than I found the freeze wall full of every type of Perogies. Had to control myself. This is such a nice Market! Srodek's has the best Polish sausage. Both the smoked and the fresh are excellent. I like the chunky kielbasa best. We picked up some smoked cheddar kielbasa for the grill, I can not wait to try it. It was worth the 45 min drive from Northville to visit this store. read more

Purchased the cherry pierogi yesterday. My family had made fruit pierogi's in the past and they were wonderful. The purchased pierogi's from Srodeks were mixed with potato. Gross, would not buy them again. read more
