Review #493 Saturday 8-31-2024 Oh My Smaczne = Delicious in Polish Of Course! What took Me so long to write a Review for this well-known and Local Family Business with Butcher Quality Meats that I shop at so frequently plus back in March of 2021. (SEE My Past Yummy Photos of Cooked Meats and Pierogies!) The store is always organized, clean and stocked well with hundreds of items to shop for The smells of hot food cooking to buy for lunch or dinner TO GO is Yummy Fantastic when local residents stop in for Carry-Out. When I'm craving and in the mood to cook Polish recipes from My Parents, I enjoy shopping in this Traditional Polish and European Food Store. Founded in the early nineties, with a market in Hamtramck already this Sterling Heights location has been my go to being a Polish Princess Queen Of Cooking thanks to My parents and My 200% heritage. All the photos attached will show the many areas of this store with quality meats, breads, hot foods to go, produce, imports, lunchmeats, many canned goods, jars of flavors, frozen or fresh pierogies, kielbasa, There's a large selection of Polish candies and sweets too. Chill Out and Walk in their Deep Freezer Area to buy their monthly priced custom Meat Bundle Packages or chilled meats in smaller packages to go. Oh Yes I have enjoyed them especially the one with extra chicken and ribs and a FREE 10# Bag of Potatoes which compliments a few dinner meals. They advertise in the Macomb Daily with meat specials and bundles for 2 weeks with sale prices in effect. Check out this weeks till Sept. 7th. Very good Polish food offerings, in addition to a fine meat department. A well run market, however some of their baked goods taste old despite having a valid use by date. Also, their paczki could have used slightly more filling as they were a little doughy. read more

Needed 1 pound of ground round. Didn't want to fight crowds at nino salvagio on this day. Decided to give bozeks a try. The meat turned out good. Quite a few of other items available raised a few questions. Was going to purchase some backed goods. Expiration dates ranged from a week old till today's date. There have to be hundreds of items on shelves that will never be sold. Thinking this location may not be here much longer. read more

Awesome store filled with Polska delights! Made a plate of hot food to go and ate it in the parking lot! Pierogi, golumpki; potato, beef. My sister had the sauerkraut with hers! This place is a staple for the Polish community in need of foods from Europe. Pricing is fair. Large deli to get your meat. Huge walk-in cooler for a wide variety of Polish meats and sausages. Plenty other grocery options, delicious homemade soups are found in the cooler. There is a little buffet set up where are you can pay for food by the pound. Can usually get some chicken, fish, potato pancakes, sausage and other foods. This looks like the place to come to order your paczki and not have to go to the city. Those sell for 15 a dozen or six dollars a dozen after fat Tuesday. They're probably as hard as bricks right now! I took Jennifer Lutz with me. I'm probably going to take one of the sausages and abuse her with it. No. That wouldn't do justice. I love these meats! read more

I'm Polish, and I love having a place close to home where I can purchase and enjoy the foods of yore! The deli carry's a large variety of lunch meats, cheeses and sausages along with many homemade ethnic soups. The store is clean but aisles aren't spacious because of the large inventory. They also have a walk-in meat cooler and prices are very reasonable. Not many fruits or vegetables. read more

I use to be a regular customer at Bozek's Market in Sterling Heights and I always try to give second chances before leaving a bad review in this case I have given them a few chances because I used to really like this place, but the quality of their products have really been poor as of the last few years. Today was my last straw (Fat Tuesday) 2-25-2020 - I ordered 4 dozen Paczki's and when I distributed these things out to my customers they complained that they were like day(S) old donuts and NOT FRESH! So, I had to try a couple because I could not believe this would be true and I found them to be old and stale. $60.00 I paid for these things and they were garbage. We called the store and they said that they were fresh and made daily, but I know what their Paczki's are supposed to taste like and what texture they are supposed to be. I am not at all happy with their products nor their lack of customer service. We ended up going to VITO'S BAKERY on Moravian Rd. in Clinton Township and ordered them for the rest of our customers and they were FRESH and a true Paczki. If you are of Polish descent you know the difference between a jelly donut and a Paczki. read more

1st time at market. What a gem to find. Purchased meals from the Gourmet ready to eat bar. Bought about 3-4 large meals, fresh dinner, rolls, milk, and a few other snack items for my daughter and son-in-law. Bill was $36 and I was very pleased. Establishment very clean. Loved the nostalgic Polish candles and candy selections. Will definitely be back. Staff was friendly. read more

We stopped in here to buy pierogies. My sister found this store when trying to locate some fresh polish sausage. After her having to come in this store twice, she was not able to buy it. This was all based on conflicting information she was getting from the women who worked there. One worker told her that when she asked the butcher when to expect the sausage to be available, he had given her the finger. But she did mention that they had pierogis for sale at 2.99 a pkg. and that they carried ones filled with blueberries Once in the store we did find the area selling them. There were two different brands but the ones at 2.99 were in the 2nd refrigerator with signs taped up advertising the price. We also bought dinner rolls, German candy, cookies, dry egg noodles, and a Polish torte At the register a young man rang up our perogies at 4.99 each. I said they were 2.99. He said not the fruit ones, they cost more. I went back to the refrigerated area and saw that every sign above the packages saying 2.99 were for potato, sauerkraut etc. but it did not say the blueberry ones. I passed him in the way back to the register as my husband had already paid. I told the young man that it was very misleading to have all those signs up advertising 2.99 and no sign saying the price of the blueberry ones being 4.99. He was going to go add a sign. So bottom line is my sister is never returning to this store due to their incompetence and rudeness. I don't intend to shop here anymore due to misleading pricing. The rolls were great and the torte was pretty good. But I don't trust this place read more

I had great displeasure to visit Bozek store in Hamtramack 2 days ago. There is nowbody there to help. There is a smell in a store. My cashier was Diane B as it was on a receipt. I tried to recall when I was treated so badly. I could not. I was overcharged twice on a receipt. Came back to the store was yelled at, was told that it was my fault, though I am a customer. Finally, was refunded the money. I put my groceries into the car and noticed yet another overcharge - back to the store again. This time they start yelling obscenities. Got a refund for yet another overcharge. Do yourself a favor do not go there for any reason. Just look at the reviews. read more

I only wish I'd known about this place sooner, having worked nearby for years and having searched the area high and low for good food to eat for lunch. Their small buffet of hot food is great if you like hearty, meat-based dishes. You throw it all in a carry out container and they sell by weight. $5-8 for a very filling meal. They have a decent selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, great Polish drinks, candy and groceries. I like to do a portion of my grocery shopping here while I'm on my lunch break. I love going to international markets for chocolates and sweet. Boy, this place did not disappoint. Theres so many sweets they carry from europe. And a aisle thats full of chocolate galore. My only gripe is the market is quite small and not enough space in each aisle. I felt so cramped when trying to make a purchase while people keep trying to squeeze thru. This the BEST store for meats and lunch meats in Macomb/Oakland County. Prices are 20-35% lower than big stores or Vince & Joe's/Randazzo's. Meat is fresh as they butcher it on site. They have world's best Manager's special shelf in walk in cooler, I got whole filet mignons for $12-$15 on that rack! Yes the speak Polish but I've been going for over u yrs and have NRVER met a customer service clerk who couldn't speak English, shelf stockers may not but their job is not to serve customers. The frozen pierogi are fantastic, dried mushrooms superb, and their hot self serve items are delicious for lunch or dinner OR for catering!!! Bozek's has a pretty good selection of jarred goods (sauerkraut and such). The soups are good (although the Hungarian Soup is the only one that I'm sure is vegetarian). All in all, a decent second choice for those too far from The Polish Market in Troy. read more

Good hot Polish food on their hot table for carryout, and great dill pickles in buckets, both sold by the pound. Good smoked and fresh sausage, refrigerated soups and lunch meats, average bakery goods. Lots of imported canned goods and candy from Poland. CAREFUL WHAT YOU BUY!!! LOTS OF OLD STUFF IS BEING PEDDLED Without any warning BY DABI BOZEK!!! Get this. My sister made a special trip this Saturday to Bozeks Sterling Hgts. She bought me one half dozen of jam filled Donuts (Pazki) for my birthday today.They looked good outwardly.However after biting in one; it was hard as a hockey puck. What a disappointment. I called Bozeks to complain that these were "day old" Donuts. . Dabi Bozek replied: , "not only were these considered day old", but "were delivered this past Thursday" by their Vendor.Therefore, they were at least 3 to 4 days days old. She said that was acceptable This dateing information was not posted or shared verbally with my sister because she would have not purchased the old donuts.Furthermore Ms. Bozek then tell a story that real Polish Pazki are dry and should be put in a micro before serving. What a crock of SH...T!, I have been eating these PAZKI for 65 years. I wanted to get a store credit and maybe come back on a Thursday for fresh replacements. Ms Bozek wanted me to bring the 5 remaining donuts plus I had to embarrass my sister by asking for the original receipt before she would give me a credit. i am thinking about $6.00. I told Ms Bozek i will bring in the stale Donuts, but not the receipt, as these were a gift. She would not budge and would not agree to provide fresh replacements. I thought "O my God" what kind a "cheapo" ignorant business person is this and what "other fresh items" does she sell in her store that is also beyond it's actual " fresh date". Like another reviewer, I have a love/hate relationship with Bozek's. I've lived in this neighborhood for 40 years. My house is less than 1/8 of a mile from them. Heck, I remember when their store was an apartment furniture rental store. They started with a REAL butcher back when they first opened. His name was Joe. Now you have a rude old Polish guy and young dumb one. Neither knows how to cut meat. I ONLY buy meat here if I am DESPERATE! This afternoon I was. I bought a tray of "Assorted Pork Chops". If you look at my accompanying picture you'll see one of the so-called chops that lined the bottom of the package. All of the hidden ones were either end cuts that were near paper thin or hacked up pieces that were more fat than meat like the one in the picture. I do like their deli meat, although I've found to avoid certain meats there too. Other ones are hit and miss for their quality. The staff is usually mean as hell. If you speak Polish they are only slightly nicer. I figure that in Poland they must act like this in their meat markets. Rude as hell for the most part. Although there are two young ladies that are very polite and one petite middle-aged lady that are very pleasant to deal with. The rest are pretty much a-holes. I'm done buying meat from them. I will drive to Vince and Joe's if I want a real butcher from now on. read more

My first trip here this afternoon was going good up until after about two minutes of walking in. Not a very welcoming experience. Not one person welcomed me with a smile nor a greeting. It was if the workers didn't want to be there themselves. I felt like a stranger in a foreign country. I bought some lunch meats, bread, pirogi, soup etc... regardless of being the 6th in line with only one person working the counter. There was no number system so it's up to the customer to know who is next. Another long line at checkout with only one counter. The prices were reasonable and they had a lot of great polish foods that I like. And yes, I am 100% polish but I doubt I will be back. At least at Agrusa at 17/Dequindre and Srodek Deli on Mound treat their customers with a smile and greeting. Note to owner: teach your employees people skills! You lose three stars for people skills and making the customers fight at who is next in line at the deli. read more

Mmmmmm.....pierogi..... Well, two outta three weren't bad. I bought two frozen (dozen) potato & kraut, and one dozen already cooked (farmer cheese) - Farmer cheese were BAM so good! I didn't actually try the potato, and the kraut tasted funny, to my whole family...soo...I don't know if it was just a taste thing, or if it was a date thing, I hadn't checked, even after being warned by all of the other reviews The store looked really fresh and amazing, I really love the variety of fresh and frozen items to choose from. I don't get here enough and when I do go I want to be in their for EVER! It just reminds me of being a little girl, and listening to my Grandmother, Mother, and Aunts clammer on in Polish...and the smells bring me back as well... I just want to buy everything!. Bozeks is a solid choice when it comes to meats, soups, and breads. I have NEVER had anything other than stellar customer service while here. I think what people misconstrue as rudeness may actually be a tad bit of a language barrier between worker and customer. Not sure of why so many poor reviews as the place seemed pretty ok on my first visit last night. I went specifically because they had pork back fat that I needed for my attempt to make homemade sausage. I asked at the meat counter where it was and the person didn't know but quickly got someone to walk me into the meat cooler and point it out. Wow the meat cooler was FULL of all kinds of meats and stuff including liver, heart, veal, and you name it. Prices seemed ok on what I looked at but I was only there for the fatback on this trip. I think I'll go again especially if I'm looking for something interesting. There was a ton of Polish candy at the counter. The in-store made hot food selection was surprisingly a large variety, but it was late at night and looked like it had been there a while. I wasn't hungry at the time and didn't try any. I have a love/hate affair with this place. Good meat selection and the butchers in the walk-in refrigerator are friendly and accommodating. The female cashiers, however, are generally unfriendly and rude. Agree with another commenter that you have to watch expiration dates. Have purchased some mixed deli meat/cheese packages that were definitely on their way out. Have never had a problem with their cryo-packed meats. Asked if I could order it & when the lady asked the man who makes up the meat, he yelled something at her. I was told not available & no orders taken. Despite the name of the Bozeks, this place gives great foods and simple groceries but the meat department is a complete disaster. I bought a package of pork chops from here and it is obvious that they do not care about its quality. Luckily I didn't order the steaks that I wanted because the butcher is VERY impolite and grumpy. I headed over the other Bozeks in Hamtramck and their butcher did a great job! My sirloin steaks are just perfecto! I bought a few the lambs too because the quality at Hampton Bozeks is just stunning compared to S. Heights Bozeks. 2 stars for this Bozeks (Foods NOT MEATS) and 5 stars for Bozeks Hamtramck. read more
