FABULOUS customer service! I took my daughters shoe shopping yesterday, Sat. 8/12/17. I usually go to this location because I've always experienced great customer service and the prices are fair. Yesterday's visit was no different. Brittney was the young lady who helped us out. We were there for about 45 minutes. Yes 45! When you have 2 teenage daughters they need to try on several shoes and sizes. Brittney was attentive and very patient. Thanks for the sock recommendation too! Everyone who worked here was super sweet. Was looking for shoes for my mom since she's traveling to China. We were super complicated and finicky and they were very accommodating. Also found out they had Journey Kids downstairs which had a great selection and awesome, better deals if you have small feet and can fit into kids. Ahhh I'm so happy Journeys is still around. I gotta give these guys props for the service! Journeys is a shoe store on the first floor of the Topanga Westfield mall. We walked in there as they had a variety of Crocs on display and these shoes, being very comfortable, are favorites of people who work and stand all day like waitresses, chefs, etc. My wife, being a pastry chef, runs around a kitchen all day and was severely reprimanded for not owning a pair of crocs. In fact, they said that she'd be immediately terminated if she didn't buy a pair of crocs. They also said to her that her husband is delusional most of the time while writing his Yelp reviews. Suffice it to say, my wife needed a pair of crocs, so we walked into Journeys. The shoes that she needed (black crocs without all those odd looking holes) were not in stock. Sean, the sales clerk, was extremely helpful though and suggested that we have them order the shoes for us and ship them directly to us. All the while, he was friendly and helpful, a refreshing change in this day where Generation Why is always bitching and moaning about having to do this or that (How do you like 'em Slackers now, eh Boomers?) I went to buy a birthday gift for my boyfriend I walked in and knew the shoes i was going to purchase for him (Stan Smiths). The girl went to the back grabbed the shoe and came and showed them to me, of course I was not expecting her to take out the shoe for me to try on they are a size 10 in men. But as I was going to pay she did not even check if the shoes were the correct size charged me and put them away. I believed the shoes would be a left and a right pair as they should be. I wrapped the gift and gave it to my boyfriend and that's when he saw that it was just two of the right shoe. I should have doubled checked to see if The shoes were correct but why would the store have two left shoes in a box. writing this for a friend who doesn't have yelp, but felt the need to point out the extremely rude and unprofessional behavior given by one of the managers. came here real quick to pick something up for my brother, tried to get help from an associate, and most of them looked like they couldn't be bothered by me. the manager was no different. tried to ask her for a size in a certain sweater, she went to the back to "check", came back literally 30 seconds after and said no. I've worked in retail before, I know most of the time they don't have every single item in stock in every size, but she didn't have to make me feel as if I was bothering her by asking her a simple question. if she would have simply said no, I would've been fine. but no, she made this big deal out of me asking for a size... this was the tall and blonde manager, she was extremely rude, abrasive and unprofessional. Once I explained to him what I was looking for he quickly went into the stockroom and emerged with the perfect lil pair of pink Converse Chuck Taylors. I have gone here twice and both times, Justice helped my little girl get some cool Fila stuff. The first time was a month ago or so and we tried on several different shirts trying to find the right Fila sweatshirt. Justice was extremely pleasant and helpful, checking for different sizes and prices, etc. We went again yesterday and bought a pair of Fila shoes. Justice happened to be working again; and, once again, she was stellar with her service, getting different shoes, try-on socks for us (we didn't bring any) and providing a very pleasant buying experience for us. I called on the 24th looking for a pair of vans my daughter wanted for Christmas. I don't remember who I talked to but is was a female. She told me they did not have them in the Swiss I wanted. Bought a pair of Dr. Martens here and as I tried them on I told the sales person that I thought they were a bit too big and he was like "No no, you're fine". I bought the shoes because I trusted his opinion about how they fit.. Well, they don't! Have worn them twice now, trying to convince myself each time that they are the right size.. Went to my local Journeys looking for shoes for my daughter, they didn't have the size I needed but called the Topanga store who said they had them in stock and to come on down. After the 60 mile drive I walk in and they tell me they don't have the size I need but they can order it. I asked why they said it was in stock when it was not and their only response was "our computer said we had them but we dont". It's called inventory control people, try it. I walked in just to look around and I spotted some New Balance I had been searching for. I had just bought another pair the day before and was sporting them that day and I didn't necessarily see the need to spend again. Both of the employees there, at the time, complimented my style and I thought that was nice of them. One of the sales employees, I believe his name was Jeff, brought out the pair of New Balance I was ogling and I just decided to try them on. After receiving horrible customer service from the inexperienced, unmotivated and clearly stoned teenage boys who work at the Oaks Mall location, I drove all the way out to this store to buy the shoes that the other store claimed they didn't have. Walked in, and was greeted immediately by Liz, who knew exactly which shoes I wanted after a quick description. She walked in the back and came back less than 30 seconds later with the shoes in the right size and I was in and out of the store with my brand new shoes in less than 5 minutes. HOLLY MOLLY!!!! What a great time to buy gifts for Christmas isnt it? I was recently in their tonight trying to find some very special some Superman converse shoes from DC Comics for someone very special in my life ( my gf of course ). I did get a little bit upset that when I went in their no one really noticed but no big deal, alot of people were in the store at the time. As soon as I decided to go to the front desk the lady that worked their, asked if I needed some help and a size for a shoe. When I grabbed the shoe I wanted she went into action and got them but told me that these were the last pair they had. Honestly I was shocked that relieved that I was the lucky one. Wonderful feeling it was hahaha. Now there were another pair of Timberlands that I also wanted as well, she gave me a 10 to try on but I was size 9 in a half. She looked again and again and again, being very thorough. I felt bad because she was looking all over the place but she had alot of energy which is always good. She said she had this feeling they had it, and checked one last time. She came back and said that they didnt have my size, but recommended the black ones which I decided to take and told me when they get more in stock I can come back and exchange. Honestly though with her kindness and EXTREMELY high customer service it made my experience with Journeys the best. She should get a promotion though, she deserves it. To be honest the other employees were the same as well, nothing but smiles everywhere even in tough busy times like Christmas, thank you Journey I will be back for the other brown and black Timberlands. read more

I've had two bad experiences here in the last few months. The first was a few days before Christmas. I was greeted by a salesperson who asked what he could help us with, and I said we were just browsing. He then turned and walked quickly away from us while saying, "it's three days before Christmas and you're still just browsing?" No joke, that is exactly what he said. I did complain to the manager at that time. Today, I walked in with my daughter, who knew exactly what she wanted in a particular size. He then came back with not only the shoe we wanted, but three other pairs of shoes in her size we didn't ask for and then proceeded to show each one of them to us and give the upsell speech. He also brought out two different packages of socks, upsold again and told us we should really buy new socks with a new shoe purchase. We tried on the pair of shoes we asked for and then proceeded to the counter to buy them. He asked if we wanted the other significant pile of stuff now laying on the floor that he brought out, and I simply said "no thank you". Even after that, he AGAIN pushed the socks, saying "they're only $5, do you want to just get them ?" Again, that is exactly what he said. After that point, I felt he wanted to get me out of the store as soon as possible and my purchase was clearly a disappointment. I can't stand that pushy hard sell approach, not sure who doesn't. read more
