LORD am I impressed by the dry cleaning at Joy Cleaners. Lets just say, someone's puke stain on my sister's gorgeous cocktail dress (which I had to return, in its original condition, untainted, AND after a long night of drunken fun) was flawlessly removed and was restored in its pre-borrowed condition! Prices are so reasonable I'd get everything dry cleaned there if I could. (I've compared prices from Irvine, prices at Joy is def. super affordable that one time I got 10 pcs of a mix of coats, dresses, sweaters cleaned) Do note that sometimes you have to ask them to speed up your return time, but they're usually really nice about it. They're Asian, and yes, it means you can bargain for the time you can get your perfectly dried clean items back. read more

I called early this morning (about 8:30a.m.) looking for information on a couple of services I was in need of. The lady that answered the phone was INCREDIBLY rude. I needed a Baseball Jersey (birthday present) altered for the game I was attending tonight. I called to ask if they offered Same Day service, and the woman on the phone responded with "I need to see it first" When I acknowledged you really can't determine much until you see the piece, I asked "If it IS eligible for Same Day, is it possible to have by 5:00?" Which was around the time I would need to start heading out to LA. Her response was a much more firm "I NEED to see it first" Thinking that she must have misunderstood me, I repeated again "I know you need to see the item first, but my question is, if it CAN be done, can it be picked up around 5:00?" to which she raised her voice to me and repeated "I NEED TO SEE IT FIRST!!" Let me tell you...she lost my business then and there, and the moment I replied "OK" she didn't waste a second disconnecting the call. Luckily I found a LOVELY Dry Cleaners only 2 minutes away (Sun Dry Cleaners off of Gale Ave) who not only offered Same Day service, but would have it ready for me earlier than I had expected. AND they were able to answer all of my questions over the phone! I can assure you it had nothing to do with language barriers as Sun Dry Cleaners spoke as little English as Joy Cleaners did, they just had MUCH more patience! The time I went here, this place had pretty good overall reviews so I decided to try it (wish all the newer ratings had been there before I went). I bought an expensive dress to wear to a banquet and got a drop of drink spilled on me so I took it to Joy's cleaners. First thing the lady at the desk tells me is "the flower on the strap is coming off...I can't clean it until I fix it first...6.00 extra" REALLY? 6.00 to sew on a little flower? I refused and told her i'd take it elsewhere because I can fix it myself with a few stitches..and why can't she just use a safety pin for the time being. So relunctantly she pinned it and told me to come back in 3 days. I come back and she gives me my dress and tells me she couldn't get the stain out (small stain mind you, I could barely see it unless in bright bright light). She tried 3x...when i look at the dress it looks worse than when I brought it in...the color was faded in that area and the dress was starting to ball up. And the cherry on top was the fact that the dress wasn't even pressed...the place I go to that charges 1.99 presses my clothes. My dress looked like it was at the bottom of the hamper for months! I've take my things to other cleaners but now i'm satisfied with the service they are providing me. the lady is nice i have not had some of the experiences that other people have had. I do have to say that they are a little more expensive than other places. So far so good. read more

Joy Cleaners - What an ironic name for a business, because I definitely did not feel any JOY after visiting here. It pains me to have to write this review as Joy Cleaners has been my neighborhood cleaner for over 10 years but my latest trip to this place has seriously put me over the edge, and I feel COMPELLED to write a review, so everyone can know what I went thru and hopefully not have the same horrible experience that I had. For starter, Joy Cleaners never once gave me any sort of discount, even though I had been a loyal customer for over 10+ years.... Sadly, I continued coming here because it's right next to my house, and the location is convenient. PLUS, I am not much of a bargain hunter.. I don't typically mind paying a few dollars more here and there if I know I can trust the merchant or if I know I am paying for good service. To me (and I am sure this is the same for many of you out there), any merchants that do not put their customers first or knowingly operate their business at a subpar level deserves to be ousted and punished. While I am only one person and one unhappy ex-customer of Joy Cleaners, I am going to do anything I can to make sure nobody else has to go thru what I had to go thru. I dropped my jeans off last Saturday for alteration. I've brought my clothes here before for alteration, so it wasn't my first time. I never remember how much I paid on my previous alterations but I'd remember if I had been swindled or lied to. The lady was new and explained to me that it'd cost me $10 to get my jeans altered, with original hems. I gladly agreed and gave her my jeans. She asked if I wanted to pay first, but I declined and said I'd pay when I pick up my jeans. She informed me it'd be ready by Wednesday (today) and then I was on my way. Today, while driving home, I remembered that today's Wednesday and I needed to pick up my jeans. I stopped by the place 10 minutes before they closed, and the lady let me in. In my 10 years as a customer, it was my first time meeting this lady, who I believe is the owner. She asked me for my phone #, and I gave it to her. I didn't bother giving her my pickup slip and figured my phone # would do. This is where things started to get interesting: Lady: Ok, this is for your alteration, original hem? Me: Yes, $10, correct? (about to give her my credit card) Lady: Oh, no. The lady did not know what she was talking about (referring to her own worker) It is $15 because we used original hem Me: Eh, but she told me it was $10 when I dropped it off. Lady: It's $15 Me: (while I waited for her apology) Ok, but that's not what she told me. I shouldn't have to pay for the extra $5 if it was her mistake. I am the customer. Lady: I know, but it's $15 Me: (Feeling very annoyed) Well, that's a lot for a simple alteration. If I had known this, I would have seriously taken my jeans somewhere else for alteration Lady: You'd go somewhere else (Sounded like she did not believe me)?? Me: Yes, because $15 is too expensive. Even Nordstrom only charges $10 for alteration. I should have gone to Nordstrom Lady: Just look at your jeans, we did a good job Me: What does that have to do with anything? Are you expecting to pay $15 when your employee made a mistake Lady: I am sorry (but she's really not sorry) but she didn't know what she was talking about. Do you want to pay $15 or what? Me: I am very disappointed. I've been a long time customer and you are going to penalize me for your employee's mistake?? You know what, this is not right. The principle is all wrong. I will pay you $15 but I will never come back. If you want to lose a customer over $5, then fine. I do not wish to conduct business with places like you (and I threw down my credit card) After I signed the credit card receipt, I began shaking my head. She said sorry again, and I told her that she wasn't sorry because if she truly was, she would not have charged me $15. Something similar had actually happened awhile back when my boyfriend had suit jacket altered here last minute. We knew it was last minute and paid extra to have the alteration expedited. He needed to wear the suit jacket to a wedding on a Saturday and we must have dropped it off for alteration on Tuesday. They promised it'd be ready by Friday morning but the owner decided to call us on late Thursday night (past 6pm) to inform us that it would not be done by then. I was so livid and totally told the owner off on the phone...how it was unprofessional, and I asked her how the F we were supposed to have something altered this last minute before my boyfriend needed to wear it? I should have known by then that this owner is trouble. My boyfriend had to RUSH home, pick up the jacket, so he could drop it off somewhere else for alteration. NOT. COOL. Joy Cleaners. Never again! I'd not recommend this place to anyone! Do me a favor, unless you're looking to get ripped off or raise your blood pressure, avoid this place. i dislike places that don't tell me the price over the phone. i asked how much dry cleaning is for standard men's shirts. she wouldn't tell me -- told me that i should go in. when i went in, i asked for the price of dry cleaning the shirt.. she kept asking for my phone number like i was already going to use her service. when she finally told me that it was $2.25 per shirt...it's like pulling teeth...then i said, "too expensive." $2.25 may not seem that high but if you calculate the number of shirts you dry clean in one year then multiply it by the number of years (if you find a dry cleaner you like and keep going there)...that could add up!! thanks lady for wasting my time. if i knew it was that price up front, i wouldn't have gone in. a lot of dry cleaners do a good job. i want a better price!! *yes, i'm sooo chinese..* read more

Without any exaggeration, I literally have encountered the rudest ever service in my life... 1 star is an overpraise for this place. I walked by Joy Cleaners and popped my head in to inquire for shirt and pant cleaning prices this afternoon. Three sentences into the conversation, I really mean just three, including my hello... the Korean woman at the counter said to me, "I don't want to talk to you anymore, you can go now." Wow, all I did was asking for their pricing! From her incomprehensible mumbles it seemed like she didn't want to tell me their "quotes" until I present her with my shirts to be laundered. Oh, and throughout the entire conversation, she never looked up at me for more than a second. For god's sake, it's just a laundry shop, and I just want a few plain shirts cleaned. With my jaw falling off, I turned around immediately and swore to god that I'd never set my feet in this place again, no matter what kind of laundry magic they can perform. Oh, one piece of useful info I did get out of this after all, they seem to offer shirt laundering starting at $2.25 per piece, probably the most expensive in the 20 mile perimeter. Of course, the exact pricing has to be calculated with a differential equation using 10 parameters of the shirts you bring in I assume, until then you can never get a "quote" from this shop, lol read more

I came here to alter my prom dress because it was too big. The lady was nice and told me that she could fix it in 3 days. I came back in 3 days and it was done and fitted perfectly.
