Super ANNOYED AND DISAPPOINTED I WAITED 20 minutes with my feet soaking when I had called and they had said they were available for a pedicure. I was waiting as one lady sat doing her own nails after 20 minutes I said I would like to leave and she the lady who was doing her own nails said ohh I'll do them now I forgot. I said no thank you I will go somewhere else since you were busy and forgot. Why would I give my money to someone who forgot. Clearly her own pedicure was more important. It's so relaxing to come here. The ladies are so sweet, and will remember you even if you move away for a few years and come back like I did. When I moved back to Whittier, I stopped coming here because they're always busy and an appointment is strongly recommended. I have been to Joy Nails a few times and every time I am pleased with my experience. I am rating 4/5 stars because the receptionist was pretty rude and gave me attitude for paying with card. I do appreciate that this salon has a stamp card, so at the 10th visit you get a free mani. Nails: I just came in this week to get a manicure and my lady was named Yvonne she was nice but there are some minor flaws with her job on my nails she didn't get the sides of my inner nail on a couple of my finger nails. She was very rough, was hardly looking at what she was doing and left all my nails uneven, rough around the edges, lumpy, and left nail polish all over my hands. Follow up on my review from last night about my service done on Monday. I just walked out of the salon with no refund or free manicure. The manager (which I assume she is) told me it's out of her control and she doesn't guarantee how long a regular polish will last. I explained to her that I work in education, I'm not rough with my nails. She Blamed it on the fact that we wash our hands so much. Ummm no. I have gotten many regular polish manicures and they last 7-10 days not 4! I would've appreciated just a new color, not the whole manicure all over again. The manager didn't offer anything. After several disappointing nail salons in my local area, I decided to broaden my search and go a few miles away from home. I found this nail salon via Yelp. I called on a Saturday morning and they said if I could get there within 20 minutes I'd be attended to immediately. Vroom vroom ! Off I went. This nail salon is located in a shopping center, as most nail salons are. The nail shop environment is clean despite how busy it is. The ladies are professional and hospitable. I've felt comfortable in every visit. I decided to get acrylic nails after many years of not having acrylics. The last few times I've had acrylic nails, after a week or so they chip or peel off. Yes! Peel off! Not these acrylics. So far they've remained sturdy and chip proof. There are plenty of stations for nails and toes to be worked on. The ladies work speedily and still do a great job. They're honest too. On my first visit I told my nail tech that I wanted a specific design. When she was done with the acrylic application she handed me over to another nail tech who could finish the job. My nails looked great and I received so many compliments! I loved my nails so much I couldn't wait to go back and get them filled. And then a second time. Each time these ladies have done a great job with my nails. I went on Friday July 27th to get a gel manicure and I just noticed TWO of my nails are chipped on Wednesday August 1st. In 5 days my nails are chipping. I'm extremely disappointed, I basically got regular polish nails for the price of gel. I decided to give them a call today to give them a second chance and they don't pick up! I've called a few times during their hours and they have not answered nor given me a call back. I will not be going back. The opposite of joy. I do not recommend this place. I came last Wednesday and am writing a review a week later. I wasn't happy with the way the gel manicure looked uneven and thick and then it all peeled off completely two days later. I went back requesting a refund because I didn't have time to wait and the salon is away from my usual commute but Jenny persisted I get it redone. When I told her I didn't have time, she persisted to have me come back and then asked me to point out who did my manicure. I honestly couldn't remember who did my manicure and that I was taken aback from her tone, I continued to tell her that I just preferred a refund. She then yelled at me that it was my fault for not coming sooner and soon our discussion had everyone in the salon would turn to look over at us. I don't know if she was having a bad day but for this treatment I absolutely do not recommend this place. It's not even a review for the poor nail job at this point but I feel like writing this for the way Jenny handled the situation. She could have approached it in a calmly manner and let me know right off the bat that their policy is nonrefundable (they have a sign that says that and it was later pointed out).
