Joya Hall is a pretty big and spacious venue. It's definitely a great option for Desi weddings, receptions, and other large gatherings. The space looks like it can comfortably accommodate at least 100 people, so I would recommend it for events with a sizable guest list. The venue has two floors, but one thing to keep in mind is the stair situation. The stairs leading downstairs are fairly steep, and I could see some guests having difficulty navigating them. If you have older attendees or anyone with mobility concerns, they may need some assistance. The bathrooms are on the smaller side. The men's restroom, for example, can probably only accommodate about three people at a time comfortably. That said, I really liked the lighting and the overall setup of the space. Was at a wedding on 11/27/24. TLDR: they run a scam, bad faith business, horrible service. Don't book them. The put out extra tables and rush children to get off of them if they are eating. Grabbing a pitcher of soda or something else turns into a big deal and the thuggish management and ownership support arrogant/rude staff that show up and try to grab the drinks out of your hand. As if that wasn't enough, we paid for 250 people worth of food. Plates were bussed before people finished their food. When we asked for food to take home which is fairly common in middle eastern weddings they said they need to charge extra for food that we already paid for? Ownership fakes good service behind a masquerade of religious alignment. No thank you! read more

Came here for a Bengali wedding. The place has zero parking, so good luck with that if you're driving over. The main banquet hall is downstairs and it is massive. Unfortunately, it is pretty run down and needs upgrades and renovations. There was only one room that had reliable AC and it was on the first floor in the dressing room behind the elevator. Speaking of elevators, better off taking the stairs as the elevator felt like a death trap. The banquet hall had half of the AC working and the other half broken. I unfortunately was seated in the broken AC section sweating through my suit. Pretty unpleasant. Besides that, the food was pretty good and plenty to go around and seems like everything else for the newly weds went pretty smoothly. read more

We came here to check out the space for an upcoming sweet sixteen party. Due to other factors, we ended up choosing a different Hall to have the event. Joya is a lovely space that holds up to 100 people. The decor was updated recently and everything looks clean and fresh. The person who showed us around was very nice and answered all of our questions. You can rent the hall by itself or choose to have the package that includes the food. If you rent the hall by itself, it would be for five hours and they provide the staff during the event. You would bring your own food and decorations. The space has a sound system that you can hook up your music to if you do not want to pay for a DJ. Or you can choose the option that includes food. They offer two types of menu, Indian or Continental. Both options comes with alot of food and they serve it buffet style during the event. Non alcoholic drinks are included. They also have another space that is much bigger that can accommodate a lot more people but we did not look at this space. Also, you can add option for valet parking for your guests. read more

The word around town is that weddings can now include your family and friends without much restrictions. My cousin was getting married after delaying it for a year and decided to have their reception at Joya. FYI- if you dont live far away, I suggest you take a cab. The parking in this area almost does not exist. So I suggest you choose your poison wisely. Drive or a cab ride. They used the area downstairs. While walking down the stairs there was a moldy smell in the air. There was carpet on the floor and that is where I believe the smell originated. There was a molded wet stain on the ceiling, brown and black in color. Some staff members said they think the smell was from the area being locked up during covid. Maybe, due to a leak that lacked attention to be fixed. I must add the a/c was blasting cold air on high in hope of masking the smell. That was a dumb idea and it never worked. The bathroom was also a mess. It smelled, the drain in the middle of the floor cause some women to trip, the toilet paper set out to wipe wet hands was disrespectful. Let's also note it was placed their at the beginning of the night, and it was wet. One side of the room had black drapes hanging to hide the mess on the other side and it didn't hide anything. The food did not look appealing at all and looked like slop on a plate after being served. They said we had to wait before they started serving alcohol, ok that's fine but then you say that their is not enough alcohol with 2 hours left and then magically alcohol pops up. This place probably suffered from being locked up for so long and honestly they should have waited until they were prepared. This was a total fail and the worst thing about it, it ruined some ones special night. read more

They charge for extra plates even though there wasn't any extra people. They collect as soon as your plate empty doesn't matter you done with your food or not and when you go to grab some more food for you they charge as an extra people that's bullshit. read more

Joya Hall is an amazing place to have any event in: Price: The price is very affordable and extremely shocking given the great service, luxurious space and delicious food. Service: I was more than happy with the service provided for my event. The staff and event coordinator went above and beyond and even provided additional services and catered to my guest and I in such a beautiful manner. The staff was really sweet and made sure we all felt comfortable and were taken care of to the full extent. Location: The location of the hall is perfect. It is right on Woodhaven Blvd and they offer valet parking. It's not too far from the bus. It's a fifteen minute drive for me but if I wanted to walk it on a nice day I would still be able to. It's near Queens Center Mall. The hall space is massive and perfect for any event you wish to have. The upstairs is bright, white, spacious, beautifully decorated and they created a nice ambiance with the lighting and tables arrangements. Ambiance: I'm very big on food and love to explore all types of cuisines and I must say Joya Hall has definitely made a great impact on the Queens community as people from all over Queens are coming to check out the place and everyone has nothing but great things to say about it. Today I learned of a negative experience between the Director of Joya Hall, Abdul Ahad (Shahed) and my family. My sister, her husband and their daughter were enjoying an event at Joya Hall when Abdul made it uncomfortable for them. To my knowledge, he was paying too close attention to my 4 year old niece. Without asking for either of her parents' permission, he grabbed her hand, to take her to get candy from the store next door. She did not go anywhere (because her parents intervened) but this behavior is not okay and should not be allowed in a place that multiple families go to enjoy themselves. STAY AWAY!!! We held a Sweet 16 event here and the staff here; which did not offer a maître d, could not keep up with our requests and has no understanding of hospitality service. Example: We requested to have wine on every table for the people of age to drink at 7:30 and that wasn't done until 9pm. Despite multiple requests the staff and ownership had no intention of delivering the services we paid for. Additionally prior to this the waiters got upset because we requested plates for appetizers. That is not something incomprehensible and it isn't something that should be asked for. I had my daughter's Sweet 16 at Joya Hall on 08/11/18. I had booked the hall for the first floor as you enter the location. The people i booked the hall with were not very receptive, but the hall was decent so we booked it regardless. They let us come in early to decorate the place. Sanwer Chowdhry was there watching us, he seemed to be not very happy or helpful or enthusiastic about us being there. We asked him for table cloths and a table for the front, and he told them to give it to us and he left the place for few minutes and the power went out of the hall. He came back in asking what had happened, then he left again. He said not a thing to me or any of my family members who were decorating for hours that there is a major problem going on. We thought it's a temporary problem, and could probably turn it back on in a few. I left the place to run errands but family stayed to finish the decorations. When I came back for the party the place still had no power. There was no one at the hall to tell me, or my arriving guests what is going on. I had to go to basement, kitchen, and everywhere looking for an answer or someone to let me know about the power outage but I couldn't found anyone. In the meantime all my guests were waiting outside for an hour by the street on Woodhaven Blvd (talk about embarrassment). Finally someone came, and they said they are working on it. They didn't know when the power would come back on, even though they had 4+ hours to attempt to fix the issue. They offered us that if we want we can use the basement while there is another party going on there. All my guest had helped us to take all the already set up decorations and everything to basement. Finally the party started an hour and a half later. The other party started at the same time we did. We couldn't hear anything as my daughter was doing the most important and meaningful part of the celebration: the Sweet 16 candle ceremony because there were no sound barrier from the other party. For the rest of the program -the appetizer, and dinner had to be rushed. The whole night I had go around apologizing to the guests. For the back drop I had two spot lights and a fairy light which we never got to plug in because the power went out before that. Not only was this special occasion that took so much time and effort to plan a mess, but the owners had the nerve to say that the power went out because we were using their electricity to set up. How does this make any sense if the only thing we had plugged in was a hot glue gun? At the end Sanwer came told me come one day for lunch with your family. I was so upset and mad I had not replied anything to him. No matter what I said to him or write for this review can't change the fact that all the planning, hard work, and effort put into this party, and not to mention the money we paid to book the hall went to waste. All i wanted was for the day to go smooth, and my daughter to have a great night as she deserved for her birthday with no worries. I cannot give the day back to my daughter, so she can have a better Sweet 16th Birthday memory for rest of her life to remember. Instead we have all the pictures of the guests waiting on the street as a horrible reminder and memory of the Sweet 16 birthday. I would not wish for this to happen to anyone. Just wish they had floors that were a bit more neutral like venues such as deewan banquet, lights on Kent or even da Mikele Illagio, their floors are white/off white which goes amazing with any color at all . This is indeed a nice hall, however, when they get your money, they are so rude. What was suppose to be a blissful 75th bday for my mom turned out horrible. They told us they would provide unlimited ice but when our guest asked for ice, they were faced with resistance. Coming down to the end of the event, there were lots of food and my family and I wanted to use the pastry the next day for a family hang in our home since we had family who came in from different countries and states. The owner made the servers threw away our food in order to wrap the event up early. When I asked him why he did that he lied and said he did not when I SAW HIM WITH MY OWN EYES. As my family and I were leaving the hall one of the servers came and told me that they were order to do so and apologized. He even mentioned that they always do this to other ethnicity except their own kind, Indians. Why can people be respectful of each other and live loving. We are all the same. This is my second visit here and have another coming up very soon, my first experience here was very pleasant, it was for a family friends 6th Birthday, the space down stairs can easily home 500 people, if you occupy the entire space, for the party we used one side of the room and there were 250 guest, very spacious!
