What a fantastic restaurant. I came here for a party of about 75 people and everyone raved about the evening. The food was absolutely fresh and beyond flavorful. The vodka sauce in particular was the perfect balance of creamy and cheesy. The chicken parm was juicy and flavorful. The service was fast and the servers constantly checked up on us to make sure everything was good and to see if we needed anything. Overall, I highly recommend. Attended a fabulous baby shower at Verdi's and everything was amazing. The staff here was on point with bringing the food out to the guests even though the guests were up and down out of their seats and hard to keep track of. I actually decided to try the steak out of all if the options and it was delishious. The potatoes were dry and over cooked so I left those behind. Before the main meal they brought out a salad and pasta which were well....pasta and salad. I would highly recommend anyone needing to book an event space to look at this place. The chandeliers are beautiful and the space is cozy and nice. I definitely can see why people book this place for events as it is beautiful inside. I think they could do better with the food. When we first walked in we must have gotten there when they just opened. I was a little confused because the place was empty, and I didn't know if it was just a catering hall or a restaurant. But the owner happened be sitting there and said hey come in and sit down..lol he is very nice and welcoming. We sat down and Ceaser the server came and accommodated us, he is very professional and polite. The owner ordered some bruscetta for us, it was amazing. I ordered the filet mignon came with vegetables and potatoes croquettes. It was very good and very well prepared. My wife ordered the shrimp Fradiavlo, she loved it, my daughter had the fettuccine Alfredo, nice big bowl. They serve a lot of food. They have very good wine by the glass and by the bottle as well. I held my son's first birthday at Verdi's recently and boy was it a success. The ballroom was immaculately kept and ready for my vendors to setup in. The entire waitstaff was so professional and all my guests were happy with the service. Cesar ran my event and was just so amazing, he made sure every little request of mine was taken care of and I could not have been any less stressed! Even though there were multiple events taking place, everything ran smoothly and professionally. Thank you Angelo and the Verdi's team for a job well done and spectacular service. My family has been celebrating events here for a few years now, but as of now WE ARE NO LONGER RETURNING CUSTOMERS. Firstly, the servers from Saturday night were young and absolutely rude with the exception of maybe 2 young men. We had a young Caucasian server (maybe 20-21?) who was literally THROWING the entrees on our tables, dropping champagne glasses, THROWING COFFEE CUPS, and rudely picking up plates when we were clearly still eating. Where did this kid learn to be a server? The rude kid threw our pasta and dropped SAUCE ON MY DRESS and he didn't even notice. THE OPEN BAR was a DISASTER. We asked for regular, basic martinis and we got vermouth with a green mint liqueur WITH ICE!!! Our old fashions were made with whiskey and MILK??? The bartender served WHITE WINE WITH ICE????? An expensive open bar should be with a bartender who at LEAST can make BASIC DRINKS. This young guy was the worst. OPEN BAR IS NOT WORTH IT. DO NOT DO IT. Aside from being served pasta on my Own dress, martinis with mint liqueur, white wine with ice, and having our champagnes glasses shatter, at least the venue was clean. Where is the better place to have a big party then at Verdis in Whitestone? I have never been to the Westbury location but I've been to many events such as weddings at Whitestone. Communion's,christening confirmations, weddings, bridal showers, birthday parties. I had my 50th birthday party here and I had such a great time. Attended a sweet 16 party at this place- beautiful catering hall- with all its chandeliers and wall mirrors, there is no need for added decorations to liven the place. My comment only is that the buffet serving tables are right there upon entry. It would have been nice to be on the left side next to the bar. That empty space on the left probably is intended for guests more than 100 counts. The food are alright, average Italian food taste. I enjoyed their calamari - crunchy but not toasted and their chicken francese was to die for. The wait staff was attentive to our needs. The bar on our function room was closed for the reason that the teens may make way to get some. We were told to get our cocktail drinks, wine or beer one level down on our left upon exit. Although it's a walk, it gave us the opportunity to see the dining hall/restaurant on that section. It is beautiful and seems a good place to spend an enjoyable dinner. Our bartender was marvelous. Valet parking is available. There is an allocated self parking space for customers hundred feet away from the building. Overall experience was good. Simple but elegant venue place for any gathering. The worst venue we've ever been to ever! We went there for an anniversary celebration and we know they paid top dollar. The bar was sad...horrible drinks. They were understaffed and the 3 teenagers that were serving were struggling with what to do. Appetizers came out cold and they would serve one table with 3 meals and then another other couple of appetizers. It was a mess . They did the same thing with dinner. 3 people were served at our table and the rest had to wait for a long time for their dinners to show up. Then to top it off they would bring out the food with plates on top of each other. So unsanitary! The food was ice cold and looked like it was sitting out for hours. I ordered the salmon which was as dry as cardboard. Everyone complained at my table about the food. Then they advertise valet parking and there is NO valet parking or spots in their parking lot. Please don't trust these people to organize your event. They suck! read more

I had a delicious lunch here with my mother. The dining room was lovely and a great find for us, since we wanted someplace without televisions (and football playoffs). I had a tasty francese dish with chicken and shrimp, which came on a bed of spinach and with broccoli and potato croquette on the side. All prepared perfectly. My mom who usually leaves most of her food on her plate polished off her veal parm and rigatoni. And we both enjoyed the mozzarella carozza app and complimentary bruschetta. After working with Verdi's of Whitestone on my brotherhood event, last Friday, I have to say, they were exceptional. From start to finish, the venue made sure all my needs were meant, in addition to providing suggestions to made the event bigger and better. Angelo, one of the event managers, was always available to chat, work with us on the amount of people attending, and provide a deal that was affordable without taking away from the grandness of the event. On the date of the event, valet was provided, unlimited drinks were poured, great food was eaten, and impeccable service was given. For a bunch of rowdy dudes, they were completely welcoming, understanding, and most importantly AVAILABLE. I recommend, if your looking for an event in the area, choose Verdi's. My family has had several parties at Verdi's and most recently we had a party to celebrate my son's baptism on July 21 2018. We typically opt for the buffet as the food is really delicious. First, the interaction with the owners is always professional and accommodating. Angelo is really a great guy and goes above and beyond to make sure the function runs smoothly and everything is to your liking. Second is the staff. the staff that worked our party were excellent! The bus boys and waiters that worked our party were very efficient, friendly, and worked really hard the entire time. Third is the food. The food is absolutely delicious and my only regret is that I didn't eat more. When things were finished they were immediately replenished. ALL OF OUR GUESTS RAVED ABOUT HOW GOOD THE FOOD WAS! In short, Verdi's is a great place for many reasons. From soup to nuts the owners will do whatever they can to make sure your function goes perfectly. I highly recommend! read more

Amazing service, beautiful venue, and delicious food!! We had our small wedding ceremony and reception in the Roman room on Saturday night and everything was perfect! The owners and staff are extremely accommodating and made sure all of our wants were met. They let us bring our ceremony set up stuff the night before and set up 6 hours in advance to make sure everything was perfect! We even got to pick everything up the next day and were able to leave it over night. Will definitely hold more events here in the future and check out their restaurant for dinner because all of our guests and us loved their food :) read more

Attended a school function at Verdi's. Upon entering it looks like your typical catering hall. After checking in we sat at banquet tables. The silverware and glassware appeared old. Our glassware had some unrecognizable film or cloudy appearance to it. It was buffet style. Food was fair with lots to choose from. Staff was unattentive and especially rude cleaning up during speeches. Clanging chafing dishes all the while the audience is trying to listen to our guest speakers. Our plates were never cleared after dinner. We were not offered coffee or dessert until our function was near finished. Overall....a huge disappointment and rather expensive. We were charged $65 per person. Would not recommend. read more

Our family has had multiple events at Verdi's through a span of over 15 years. We just had an event at Verdi's of Whitestone for our daughters first communion, and the event was truly a memorable experience. From the moment you speak with Angelo he treats you like family and takes care of all your needs regarding your event. Angelo helped us chose our menu for the event and his recommendations were amazing. The food and service at the event were wonderful. The venue was held in the larger room which was very elegant and Angelo allowed us to setup prior to our event. Bottom line is, we were pleasantly surprised that after so many years in business Verdi's was able to still deliver high quality food, drinks and first class service. When I walked in the room earlier in the day to drop off stuff for my evening party the room smelled like they just mopped with dirty water. When I came back it smelled a little better. Everything was going smoothly, the food was out on time and everyone enjoyed the food they even went up for seconds. As the night went on one of the guest came up to me and said you need to go check your desert table. I walked over and there were ants all over my deserts. I ended up throwing out the majority of my deserts because the ants were everywhere. I looked on the glass wall and they were all crawling on the glass also. I felt so embarrassed with my guests. Luckly, I didn't display my cake until the end, so it was not contaminated. I went to speak to the owner Angelo to express my frustration and he said " This has never happened here before and I'm sorry about that, since you brought in 2 extra guests we will call it even. I was taken back because I was going to pay for my 2 extra guests but everything I lost was more than that. At that point I just wanted to leave, I made sure none of the ants were with my other stuff. I was considering using Verdi's for my next party but after this incident and the manager's attitude, I will never come back to this place nor recommend anyone. read more

This place may function better as a catering hall rather than a restaurant. The food was good but the service needs a lot of work. We had a reservation for a table of 10. The place settings were a mess. Some people didn't have forks, some glasses of water were never filled and some settings were missing a plate. We ordered 3 bottles of wine that were supposed to be $40 each. When the bill came they were $45 each? The first time we were brought a cab however, the menu read that it was a merlot. When we asked for a second bottle we were given something different. There were 6 coffees ordered at the table and the waiter came back with 4 espressos which no one ordered. They also got confused with the desserts which were pretty crappy. A cannoli cake which was a sheet cake, no chocolate chips no hint of cannoli cream and an overdone soggy cheesecake. I have no problem with waiters making mistakes at big tables because I understand it can get confusing but if you can't remember the order then write it down... We were the last table at the restaurant and the staff was cleaning the rest of the room around us. It was obvious they wanted us out however no one brought us the bill. When we were finally able to get someone to ask for the bill, they had to chase down others to look for it. When we paid, we went outside to valet to get the keys to our cars... We waited and waited and no staff was around. I went back inside to ask if someone was working valet and the guy said he wasn't sure and he will check. Turns out valet went home and the waiter couldn't find the keys. When he eventually found the keys we had to find the cars ourselves which luckily weren't too far away. I just had celebrated mu husband 50Th birthday 2 weeks ago at Verdi's!!! Everything was perfect from start to finish! They even let me bring in a few people to set up my décor an hour before!!! The food was amazing! It was HOT tasty and plenty of it! I was completely satisfied! Other then the bartender, everything was on point, and the workers and head staff were very pleasant and professional! I highly recommend this venue if you looking for affordable place and best food! I was really impressed with EVERYTHING!!!!! It was such memorable event that I even added on another hour! I attend a birthday party here. They didn't have any vegetarian option entree. The waiter if I could put something to together he said he can put rice and vegetable. I accept but nothing came. Another guest spoke up and told waiter something. What I got was string beans and potatos..drained in olive oil. At this point, im starving. The first course, shrimp, stuff clams, stuff mushroom, middle. stuff pepper, and stuff eggplant. 3 item I could eat. The second dish was alla vodka pasta was a no-go bc it has bacon, and you already know what happened to my entree. Definitely not vegetarian friendly. There was one bartender, you had to wait at least 10 mins for a drink. He does serve more than one drink which is a plus! I can't tell you how the cake taste because I never got a piece. I was in the bathroom when they were serving it. There is only two stall for female bathroom , it was a while. There goes my cake ..No cake for me. Our table was full, how hard is it to give out cake to amount people on the table. I didn't bother asking. The salad was just Iceberg lettuce drawn in balsamic vintager. We planned a retirement party here for 50 people Feb 2014. The owners were very gracious and helpful. We were supposed to get the smaller hall but since the larger hall wasn't booked that night; they gave it to us free of charge. We had a portable projector and they loaned us their projector screen. The hallways, rooms, and bathrooms were very clean. They have a NYC restaurant grade of A. The event hall was decorated very nicely. The parking lot is tight but I was able to find parking a block away on the neighborhood street. The bartender was friendly and quick to serve you so there wasn't much of a wait time. He wasn't stingy with the pour so that every mixed drink was just right. The served appetizers were above average pigs in a blanket, broccoli balls, and potato croquettes. They were hot when served so you know it wasn't sitting around. We selected to have a buffet dinner so that people can mingle. The food was delicious and freshly made. The cold buffet was tasty and the hot buffet was hot not that reheated stuff you get from some other places. We had some guest that arrived very late. The buffet was still out and the maître d served those guest personally. The owner went out of his way to make me a plate of the tripe since my party planners didn't select it as a hot food item. I have to say; it was delicious; best I had in years. We hope to plan some more of our company parties there since everyone had a great time. read more

We partied here on New Year's Eve to celebrate an aunt's birthday. The place is nice. It's definitely spacious enough for wedding receptions and large parties. You can alway jazz it up further with your own decorations. The staff is great, very courteous and professional. My biggest issue with the place is the food. Oh dear the food was not good and neither were the drinks. The best thing served for the entire night was the bruschetta. We were then served a seafood appetizer platter of crab, and some other fried seafoods. It did not taste good, more like fried food that was probably good when it was first cooked and then you take it home and try to heat it up and eat it the next day. The pasta was basic...penne pasta with cheesy tomato sauce and a big giant basil leaf on top. The salad looked a bit old. The lettuce was iceberg. Need I say more? For the main course I ordered shrimp scampi. The shrimp arrived on a bed of rice and green peas with a side if veggies. Other folks at my table ordered chicken and salmon dishes. My dish apparently had the most flavor. Why? Because it was loaded with BUTTER. the shrimp was seasoned with butter. The rice and veggies, more butter. In fact it tasted like someone just took a stick of butter and melted it over the food. Hubby's salmon was bland and tasted like...well, salmon. It didn't seem like there was any seasoning. Lets just say when the waiters cleared the table most of the plates were still full. As for the drinks, the selection was cheap but I noticed that this is the case for most catering halls. They served the drinks very watered down because I've never been so sober on New Years or any other occasion after having more than 6 drinks. Hubby and I had to hit the bar afterward. As for the food, folks at Verdis if you are reading this, please please hire a new chef, invest in some cook books or something because with what people are paying you and considering that you've been in business this long (since 1985?) the food should taste a lot better. I went for MetLife Christmas party on 12/9/2015 and I like the restaurant for a couple of reasons: arrived and hello with valet parking. The decorations were up scale with private room seating around 100 people with a great dancing floor. And DJ was included in the price around $50 per head. Buffet food serviced were really delicious! I specially like the steak with pepper and the seafood Spanish rice. The service was also really polite and the departure valet service was quick and in order. And as for liquor being cheap that would be the fault of the person throwing the part as they decide if they want top shelf liquor. Have you never catered an event with all your so called experience. This is my absolute favorite catering hall. I just had my daughters first birthday party last night and tried their buffet style for the first time and their food was amazing, waiters and maitre'd were on point with everything. Their ribs were out of this world, pasta so fresh, their calamari was sooo good and their seafood risotto was my absolute favorite. People got up for seconds and thirds! They treated me and my guests like family! Their wine was delicious..I cannot wait to throw my next party at verdi's. The owner is so sweet we just love him! Great venue, great food, awesome people. Also, something I've notice about other venues is that there was always something dirty whether it be the mirrors or bathroom... verdis is immaculate every time I go! We were here for a birthday party and had a good time but the food left some to be desired. The chicken francese was maybe the worst I have ever had. The seafood appetizer with shrimp and mussels was alright. However the calamari was not good at all, felt like rubber and lacked flavor. Also the cheap wine they served was embarrassing, it looked and tasted like some $6 bottle from Rite Aid. The party we held was fairly low-key and downstairs. We had a fantastic experience using Verdi's of Whitestone. We had a baby shower here in the downstairs room. The food was fantastic. The service impeccable. The staff was courteous, helpful and friendly. The room is very spacious and provided the perfect amount of privacy from the other rooms. We had access to the room to setup the night before. Angelo Rocco, one of the owners, was so accommodating and a pleasure to do business with. We will definitely be frequenting Verdi's for more affairs in years to come. read more

So I originally wrote about my son's awesome baptismal party and now I have come to review a standard dinner (as my original post said I would)...and my family and I were not disappointed. It was great. I am reading these negative, awful reviews and I honestly can't understand what is wrong with these reviewers. Keep in mind I am not friends with, nor related to anyone affiliated with Verdi's of Whitestone so these sentiments are really coming from an objective person. We decided to have dinner because Angelo, our 10/28/12 baptismal banquet manager/Maitr'D took a photograph of my husband, son, and me around the cake. He called to say we can pick up the photo...now, I thought it was a standard Kodak glossy 4x6 print. Not so. Angelo enlarged the picture he developed himself and printed it on a beautiful linen type of paper (he told me it is considered "velvet" paper). It doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes, my friends, but we're only supposed to talk about stomach appetites here so let's move on... The restaurant was not busy, but keep in mind that it was a Wednesday night @ 5:20pm. I'm curious to visit on a weekend. We brought our 7 month old son (he was well behaved as usual), and I did feel a little under dressed in my stupid "Mom Jeans" haha We will wear better attire next time around (although we were welcomed to dine immediately with not a mention of our appearance which was clean and polished, but casual). Cesar was our waiter: efficient, welcoming, and polite. He always said "excuse me " before leaving our table, which I thought was very cute. He seemed to remember us from the baptism. My husband ordered wine (which he liked), and I had two vodka/cranberries. Those drinks were definitely NOT watered down and thankfully my husband drove. We started with bruschetta (they gave us two plates) which was absolutely delicious. I had the mozzarella carrozza appetizer (double yum), and my husband had the antipasto freddo which he devoured. He ordered bistecca griglia (grilled steak) and commented on how good it was (no squishy fatty pieces). I ordered pollo scarpariello: chicken with sweet Italian sausage, pepper, mushrooms in a lemon/wine sauce. Potato croquette and string beans for both entrees. The string beans were cooked perfectly. In fact I even ate my husband's portion. We skipped dessert (too full), but Cesar encouraged us to try an after dinner drink (it tasted like raspberries and was perfectly sweet after eating dinner). So all in all I highly recommend Verdi's of Whitestone for both your catering and standard dining needs. read more
