As someone with very straight hair, I was very weary of getting my hair curled for my wedding as I was afraid it would all end up falling. Not only did Mayra use the proper products, she told me how to properly prepare my hair, and she used a teasing technique that made my curls hold all day and night....something that never happens. I was very impressed. I did a make-up trial at my house before booking her for my wedding. During the trial, she paid close attention and took detailed notes on how I wanted my make-up done while also recommending what she thought was best for my face. I am someone who is really into make-up and am very particular and detailed with it, so I am typically wary of other people doing my make-up. I have also had other professional make-up artists not do a good job on my make-up in the past, so I was very impressed and happy with how professional and talented Mayra was. And while talent and professionalism are of course what you want the most from a make-up artist, she is also an incredibly sweet person who was truly a joy to work with. It's important to feel comfortable with someone who is going to be in your face for that long and I couldn't have felt more at ease with her. I'm disappointed with how this booking & communicated was handled. I booked a makeup appointment…read moretwo weeks in advance and sent a $145 deposit, then needed to cancel less than 24 hours after booking. Before or after sending payment, I was never told the deposit was nonrefundable. I did not sign a contract, receive a cancellation policy, or book through a website where those terms were disclosed. When I asked if the deposit could be returned, I was told that she does not return deposits. I understand businesses can have cancellation policies, but I believe a nonrefundable deposit policy should be clearly communicated before payment is accepted. I explained that I was never made aware of that policy beforehand and asked if there could be any flexibility since I canceled so quickly and the appointment was still about two weeks away. I have not received a response. Instead multiple texts ignored. My issue is not that a business has rules around deposits. My issue is being held to a policy that was never disclosed to me before I paid. Clear communication and transparency around deposits should happen if a client sends money. If it's before or after details should be enclosed. That way no one waste time asking for something they already were disclosed! JUST TO CLARIFY: The $145 deposit was paid on August 12th and the photoshoot was scheduled for August 26th. That is two weeks, not one week. I have the photographer's booking information confirming the date. At this point, what concerns me even more is being given information that does not match the actual booking details. If a business is going to enforce a nonrefundable policy, I believe the facts surrounding the booking should at least be represented accurately. You also got two texts, not multiple. A professional company owner would reply back, not ignore and reply on yelp lying about dates. I'd also like to add that the reason I chose to leave this review is because instead of trying to resolve the issue with me as a customer, my messages were ultimately ignored. I was never told from the beginning that the $145 deposit was nonrefundable, and no written policy, agreement, or booking terms stating that were ever provided to me before I paid. If your business is centered around making women feel comfortable and beautiful, especially pregnant women and brides, I think professionalism, honesty, and communication should be a major part of that experience. Being difficult over an undisclosed policy and then choosing not to communicate further left a very negative impression. For anyone considering booking, I would strongly recommend getting every deposit, cancellation, and refund policy clearly in writing beforehand. The lack of transparency professionalism, honesty and communication are what concerned me most about this experience. I've never met a business owner who keeps your money and is dishonest about all details. Do what's right if you truly cared about your business and future client's.

I think I texted her on a Friday for a Sunday afternoon appointment as I wanted to treat my mom to get her makeup done for a wedding we were attending as guests. Nathaly primarily (only?) works out of her studio in West Covina, so she won't be able to travel to you, but that worked out fine for us as we lived close by. Her studio has just enough natural light, was kept well-air conditioned, and very clean. I appreciate that she didn't rush and stopped periodically while doing your makeup to make sure she was meeting what you were looking for. I've had makeup artists look at my reference photos and give me something completely different, so I felt very heard and respected in my wishes. My mom does not wear makeup (like ever) and English isn't her first language, but Nathaly was really friendly and still made her feel very comfortable as she was doing her makeup. She made sure my mom was able to get the coverage/look she wanted while not overdoing it and she hit it out of the park! Lastly, her prices were very reasonable and transparent! I like that she publicizes her pricing so you know ahead of time vs having to reach out and ask. I don't have many events to warrant getting my makeup done, but would recommend her to anyone looking for it!

Cathy and her team were amazing!…read more From the very start Cathy was very prompt with her correspondence and always happy to answer any question or concern that I had. Her services worked well in our budget and I was thrilled to book her. I did my hair and makeup trial at her home studio and she was so hospitable and offered bottled water to my MOH and I. I enjoyed how she described all the products she used and why. Unfortunately, at the end of the day my greasy/oily skin won supreme and I found myself blotting constantly and always feeling so shiny. Also, although I really liked my hair and it looked like the picture example I showed her... there was something missing that kept me from LOVING it. I shared all my concerns with Cathy and right away she assured me that these worries would be taken care of the day of the wedding. She blew me away! The makeup she applied was flawless! She used different high quality products for oily skin that gave me a matte finish but not leave me feeling cakey. I only had to blot twice from the time of application until the end of the night (10 hours!). For my hair, she took my initial hairstyle that I liked... and added extra texture to the front and side of my head. The extra pinned curls really elevated my hairstyle and the application of fresh flowers from my florist made it everything I ever wanted for my wedding hair. Thank you Cathy for making me feel so beautiful on the biggest day of my life!

I have to say…read moreCathy was very professional, came to my place on time and I really thought she did an excellent job! Fast forward a few month later, I reached out to Cathy again to book her for another session for a photo shoot. But second time around, I did not get a good vibe from her. When I reached out to her, she told me at first she was pretty sure she was free for my hair/makeup, only to text me later saying she's booked. I asked if she has other dates that are free, as I am very willing to work with her schedule. She said she's completely booked. I called her several times, sent her messages asking her other available times, left messages, none was returned. I even asked if she can refer me to someone else....but she never got back to me..completely ignored me. She honestly could care less about my business. In fact, if you check her website, the website says "As of 8/1/2017, Cathy is completely booked for the reminder of 2017". Are you serious?! From what I can gather, I wonder if it is because the makeup is only for me, rather than for a large party, probably not worthwhile for her to come out on a Sunday morning, not even for a repeat customer....what a shame... That two star is for her previous work..and zero star for this recent encounter.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this lovely lady…read more Found Denise at one of the bridal shows. Unfortunately, bridal showers tend to cater to one ethnicity versus others, and I could not get just any makeup artist. I looked through Denise's portfolio, got her contact information, and looked through her website for a few days. I eventually emailed her to possibly sign a contract. She was very sweet, always answered all of my questions and answered them in a very timely manner, and there were no hidden fees: the contract was very exact. For example, I would pay for parking fees, which is completely understandable. She only provided on-site service instead of a salon. And she could also provide other on-site services if requested beforehand. So, I put in a 50% deposit at the time of signing the contract, and requested a trial session around 4 months before the wedding. She was on-time for the trial session, took a few minutes to set-up, and was ready to go. The trial session calmed me down and I was very confident of her abilities for the wedding. She absolutely knew what to do to make me look beautiful. I paid the full amount of my balance a few weeks before the wedding. She received it without any issue when I mailed in the payment. The day of the wedding, she was on-time. As my hotel wasn't very easy to find, this meant that she gave herself ample time to find the hotel. That's what professionalism is all about. She had to do my maid-of-honor's hair and makeup, my hair and makeup, and my now-mother-in-law's hair. She did a great job on everyone, and everyone could not believe how beautiful I was at the wedding (I know it's almost like a back-handed comment...am I pretty ugly normally?). She even had a little backup kit for me to keep to help touch-up my makeup when necessary. The makeup did last for over 12 hours, with very little touch-up needed. If anything, the curl in my hair was almost gone by the 10th hour, which my bridesmaids were able to curl right back up. She was also super-patient with one of my friends, who had forgotten hairspray, and who asked to use hers. And she was super-patient with the videographer and photographer when they needed to get shots of me getting my makeup on. That sort of patience can be difficult to find. So, Denise deserves all the possible stars she can get. I have absolutely no complaints about her work, she was great to work with, and there were only high regard for her work. After the first trial, I was worried that I didn't look like myself with that makeup and hair style, so Denise just made another appointment right away for me. And the second trial turned out to be good. On my wedding date, I had my hair cut before the wedding date, I had to change my hair style too and Denise did a great job accommodating.
