I came here without an appointment for a pedicure in the mid afternoon and was taken right away. The pedicurist, Leana, placed my feet on a dingy white towel. She said it was clean, and then she cut my toenails without first soaking my feet. She did massage my feet well though, and I felt so relaxed afterwards. Few workers wore name tags. The only person I saw wearing one was Lucy. All wore masks. They do disinfect nail tools. There are many visible autoclave sterilizing machines. There was one in use on the stand to the left of me. There are two televisions facing opposite of one another in the middle of the salon. Most salons that I go to don't have any. I watched News 12 as Leana did my pedicure. The salon's floor and chairs are relatively clean, considering the volume of customers that comes in. There were collectively nine customers getting manicures and pedicures today around 3:30 pm; and there were three more sitting down, waiting for somebody to take them to a chair. The nail dryer station is outdated. I have seen more modern ones than that. This salon is located in the same shopping center as Staples, UPS and King Kullen. So there is plenty of free parking. Joyce's Tips Nail & Spa is not the best salon that I have been to, but I go there once in a blue moon when I have a nail emergency. *BEWARE*I just had the most mortifying experience I've ever had at at a service location! After 4 years of coming to this location and her East Islip location prior, plus NUMEROUS client recommendations; I will NEVER be back! Long story short- I'm in the wrong for not having an alternate form of payment other than Apple Pay, Venmo & credit card- but it wouldn't swipe, they don't take Apple Pay. I offered to leave her my NYS Drivers License & "unswippable" card explaining "I'll run to bank (where I can use Apple Pay for cash)". She wouldn't take it, began yelling "you can't leave" which I DO understand but I'm offering you my id & card! I had no other options so I said she could drive w me? She followed me to my car yelling and recording (so embarrassing) ‍then went to grab my ID from my hand, now you want it? Sad to say, I finally yelled back "Do NOT touch me and stop yelling!" Or something to that effect Needless to say, I came straight back and found the POLICE THERE! Luckily customers witnessed it all, the police were LOVELY-huge shout out to the 4th precinct... but holy embarrassing! Ps- I had a BASIC mani & pedi... nothing special. I never have to wait when I go here which is a huge plus. It also has a very convenient location, right on the sunrise service road. They have a card that you can get signed and after 10 visits, you can turn it in for a free 10 minute massage, which is nice. It's big and clean. They don't use the bowl for you to soak your nails anymore during a manicure, so that is a little annoying because the oil and dust from the nail filing, just sits on your hands. read more

They did a decent job on the nails but BUTCHERED my cuticles, the pictures show the dried blood around each nail. If I could, I came in only because my nail salon was so busy and I didn't have an appointment this place is close to my house. The place was empty and the woman was rude , curt unaccommodating and all I asked for was a French pedicure. So this nail solon is conveniently located with ample parking. U very rarely have 2 wait. That's the good news. The bad news they are sloppy with my nails and rush through with an eye on the door 4 their next customer. Hustling is great as long as it doesn't affect the job they are working on, which it does. The prices are constantly changing 2. A fill-in that was 40 was 45 on my last visit. After u pay the person is standing on top of u with their hand out 4 a tip, counts it in front of u and makes a face. I tip 5$ which I think is fair. My toes are drying as we speak; up to the minute review! I've been here for 1hr40mins, I had a reservation for a gel manicure and regular pedicure with callous removal. Im not sure this is your place if you need a quick lunch time pop-in, BUT that being said I did have an overall good experience throughout! The facility is fairly clean- I work for a hospital so my standards are borderline OCD. The pedicure and callous removal were good, but by the time I was done having my nails done my toe polish had done something weird; the polish sort of came up from the edges of my cuticle. I am very happy with this place. I went here bc another salon I was suppose to try was booked and could not take me. So I decided to try this place and it was a hit!! I loved how they did my pedicure although I do wish it was a little longer but the price was right on target. My nails they did a fantastic job. They changed the shape and cut them down and they looked prefect. I think this will be my new salon home!! I can't remember who did my services but I will be back. I can't even rate this place with a 1 star!! You make appointments and that does not matter they take you as you come. I guess because your time means absolutely NOTHING???? I love Joyce tips, I never make an appointment and just walk-in. I never have to wait long. I always leave happy no matter what service I get. I find the girls to be very nice and they all do a great job. I have tried other salons but always end up going back to Joyce tips. They have a HUGE selection of colors from regular polish to gel polish and gel powder. So much that sometimes I can't make up my mind which color I want. we took our granddaughter for a mani pedi. All three of us got mani pedis. I was not happy with the service we received. I did not make an issue of it because I did not want to ruin a special time with our 9 year old Granddaughter. the pedicure part was rushed. If I reviewed Joyce's when I first started coming it would have been a given 5 stars but lately I haven't had the greatest experiences. They are sometimes very under staffed and you have to wait a very long time with or without an appointment. On days like this they also rush the manicure/pedicure. Other than this they are very good and I have been coming here for years. There is an overwhelming amount of gel colors and they have the entire Essie collection which is awesome. Prices are on the lower side I've seen for gel manicures and pedicures. 99% of the time I get my eyebrows done they come out great. absolutely NEVER again! These people did so wrong by me and do not stand behind their policy of product. I paid $82 for my nails and in less than a week one nail chipped! I paid for the gel acrylic set which PREVENTS chipping and last longer, but that was certainly not the case! I went in to get ONE nail fixed and a lady tried to charge me $10 for it! Disclaimer- I work in a service based industry and typically only leave reviews if they are positive... My first time here, I had only a pedicure, which was a lovely experience and lasted about 3 weeks. Today I went back in for a pedi and dip powder manicure... I again had a great pedicure (other than the broken massage chair) THEN had the nastiest woman give me the CHUNKIEST powder manicure ever. She took tools out of her drawer that were not wrapped or sterile. Did not even shape my nails at all before dipping them. Didn't even push back a cuticle. She asked what shape I wanted after the fact and barely shaped them.... then layered the powder on.... When I asked if she could make them thinner, she refused. My nails are currently varied lengths and thicknesses of polish...I've had plenty of powder manis... never going back. read more

Gott a rose spa pedicure week ago, ($45, they tried to charge $55 when paying ...also, it does not include callous removal, that's $8 extra) it's already chipped- but worse- now have Paronychia (cuticle infection) on 2 toes. Stay away ! The staff and owner are basically in it for the money and I get that but customer service and satisfaction come first . Joyce and Ricky are absolute miracle workers!! Joyce has been doing my nails for over 5 years now, and i will not let anyone other than the two of them touch my fingers!! I hate to say it, but I've been known to be super picky, and a bit of a nail snob, and when i found them i fell in love! The amount of time, effort and perfection they put into their craft is incredible! I also have a couple crooked fingers, that they manage to shape the nails to so you cant notice at all! they truly are not only great at what they do, but are also wonderful people. The pedicures there are also amazing as well! whether i am in a rush, and get a basic pedi, or a fabulous spa pedicure, you never feel rushed and are always pampered. In the Patchogue salon (as they also have one in Islip Terrace, and i go to both and as i said i can be super picky), Jenny is amazing !!! Unsanitary! I used to come here a lot when it first opened and they used to do a good job. And their prices aren't terrible, pretty standard. But I will NEVER go back here again. I just got my nails done and they don't clean any of their tools!!! The guy who did my nails legit opened a dirty drawer with a bunch of tools just thrown in and started picking at my cuticles. I went in last week for a simple gel removal/then regular manicure. I believe the nail techs name was Lucy and I cannot stress enough that NO ONE should go here. First, the nail tech doesn't wash her hands... I had to tell her I wanted to wash my hands half way through the manicure because I was grossed out.. then she barely files my nails, I had two broken nails she didn't see or fix. She got nail polish all over my fingers so I went home with smudges all over my hands. I paid $27 for I'm not even sure what. I usually go to a different nail salon in Ronkonkoma but wanted to go closer to home and we'll, that will never happen again. I have come here several times over the past year as a walk-in. I was very pleased because they took me right away. I was very pleased because they had two TVs that you can view one from the pedicure room and one from the manicure room. The last two times I went I started to become disillusioned with the place. It's very clean very well staffed the last two times I got Lucy and was in the process of trying to grow my nails which are usually very chipped and peeling and calloused cuticles. First thing she said asked was cut? I said no no just file I'm trying to grow them. She shook her head yes that she understood what I was saying and then proceeded to cut all 10 nails. I tried to stopped after the first five (she cut them so quickly I didn't even realize what she had done), so I said don't cut my right hand I'm trying to grow them out. Again she shook her head yes and again she proceeded to cut. Anyway she gave me a good manicure I chalked it up to a language problem and promised myself to be more cautious when I come back and hopefully not get Lucy because I don't think she understands English. Cut to last week. I went for a pedicure again I said a very simple pedicure just cut the toenails this timeBecause they need it in a regular pedicure. She prepared the bath, everything was fine and when she was done with the shaping of my nails held up my foot and indicated with a guest urge towards my foot calluses, if it was ok to exfoliate the foot? I said yes since I thought that was part of the $22 pedicure which is normal in just about every salon I've ever been to. As she started to use the file on my foot she said eight dollar. I said OK because my foot needed to be filed. And will probably not go back there again, every time I have a procedure they want to upgrade whatever asked for. I would prefer to give negative stars. Absolute worst nail experience. I picked out a color for a gel manicure from the chip. She started doing my nails and the color did NOT look right. I asked her and she assured me it was correct. At the end, I said it still did not look right. The color I picked was darker. She went away and came back with a different bottle and put 1 layer of that color on. The color looked better but was still not right. The girl was rude and unpleasant. Nobody fixed it. And when I complained she would not do anything about it. She was clearly at fault but was claiming because she put 1 coat of a color that looked closer (BUT WAS NOT THE COLOR I CHOSE) that all was fixed. It wasn't. And they did nothing to fix it. I'm so disappointed. I have been coming here for years! The owner does a great fill in. His wife, well she needs to learn some manners and how to talk to people. I had to go to a different girl because "Joyce's" husband wasn't there. This girl insisted on using that drill to file down my nails (I get acrylic fill-ins). I asked her (as I always do) to NOT use the drill. My nails are so thin and weak that they actually burn from the drill. She seemed to be annoyed and then starting talking to "Joyce" in their native tongue (insert occasional giggles here). So "Joyce" then proceeds to tell me that I have to have drill- I have no choice. With that, I told her I do have a choice...and I picked up my bag and motioned to leave. Add some more native language exchanges and low and behold! What appears before my eyes? An Emory board! A nail file. Like in the good old days. Not a tool that cuts the production time in half but leaves my nails burning and aching. So, I let her do my French fill-in (she did a nice job), but all the while kept snickering and snearing with "Joyce", along with some other worker who stood over me like a guard. When she proceeded to motion me for my pedicure (I had come in for a fill in and a pedi - I had even picked color), I told them that not only was I not getting a pedi, but that I wouldn't be back ever again (not nasty, not emotional- just factual), and they stood there giggling. Simply bizarre. I'm sad to say that I will never go back there. There are some awesome techs that work there, but for the fact that I was treated like an idiot (I'm sure my review doesn't sound anywhere near to what actually transpired, but trust me- she was snarky and nasty to the point that the only other customer that was there turned around in her seat and mouthed "OMG" to me for how they chose to talk to me). While I have tried many nail salons across the island. For some reason I always come back to this place. Now while they may not be the most kindest people. My nails are ALWAYS done the way I like them. The lighting in there can be pretty sucky, especially when you're trying to pick out polish. A few weeks ago I picked a color that I thought was red, and when I got home I noticed that it was more on the orange side. While, it might have been me, I'm still banking on the fact that it was the lighting. While I had gone in there a week ago, to change my "Christmas Orange" to my usual black, I had been seated and was wrapped up with the tin foil on my fingers to soak off the gel (which by the way I must admit realllly sucks, because I can't use my hands for 20 minutes or so, and it feels like eternity). Now normally, the nail "technician" usually just machine files the polish off, so I was a little thrown off that I had been made into an alien for 20 minutes. None the less... the same man that always does my nails came over and did his thing. Now while he started my nails he was working on someone else as well, prior to me, which that really doesn't bother me none, but this other lady FLIPPED out on this poor dude. And actually ended up walking out and not paying for her services. I was mortified. I understand that she was upset that the nail dude had came and started on me while her nails were drying, she had every right to, he was not done with her yet. But he couldn't do anything else to her nails because they were drying! I know they're are MANY other and BETTER nail salons out there, but my nails always come out the way I like them and I'm usually out of there in a jiffy, which let's get real in this day and age, getting my nails done shouldn't take an hour.
