I went their after work to try and relax. Well how can you do that when someone is doing your nails and pulling your arm, making your fingers bleed and do nothing about it. Lucy was mad at something and took it out on me. Didn't put the gel good so now my gel is going to be grown out in maybe a week. Also filed and sanded down the side of my fingers so now they are raw and peeling. Got a spa pedicure and when I was getting down from the chair her apron scraped my nail polish off and then she told me be careful next time and huffed and puffed and fixed it. Then she charged me $70 and when I gave her $7 tip which she didn't deserve she walked away without saying anything. NO MANNERS NO NOTHING. SHES A GROUCH. Save your money and don't go to this place. The last time I went there I got my nails done and was very pleased with them. The person who did them last time was no longer there so I let who I believed was the owner do my nails. She sits at the first seat past the register. I wanted a powder manicure on my bare, natural nails and I asked her not to make them thick. Well, she globbed on the powder and they looked horrible so I said something. She gave me attitude and said that's how the powder works. Remember, I had one of her workers do them the last time and was highly pleased. After being in her chair for almost an hour and 15 minutes I finally got fed up and left. The shape of my nails was not what I asked for and the powder is so thick, I look like I have fake nails on. I am usually able to scratch my skin and the nails feel natural. Not the case now!! The kicker to it all. As I was sitting there a woman of darker complexion came in. I am Puerto Rican. The man (I believe maybe also the owner) told the woman they were only working today by appointment and sent her away. They took the next walk in without a problem. I came here to get my nails done for a wedding. I read these other reviews and everyone said it was really good and clean .... NOT clean ... nail dust everywhere and all over the UV light machine, it's not a built in it's a portable unit. Chairs are ripped and atmosphere is just very dumpy, cluttered and unorganized. They use a plastic liner in the pedicure tub, gloves and i actually saw them use new sterile tools and nail files so that was good. My pedicure was fine, the lady was gentle. But my SNS manicure was horrible. I got an SNS with short tips. It came out soooo uneven and i showed the lady the pic of how i wanted my nails and she didn't seem to care. The guy helped me pick out a similar color to the pic, i agreed with the one he picked it seemed to be the same at the time. Once she started applying the powder color it wasn't coming out how i thought... i didn't say anything bc i assumed she would do more coats to make the color pop more ... i wanted a silvery white color and it looked more like a very light silver shimmer color... so you still saw my nails and fake tips through the sparkles .. I wanted it fixed .. the guy tells me over and over that i chose that color so basically insinuating that it's my fault bc i said yes to it. I said back that the colors look different after you apply them .. she could have paid more attention to what i was asking for in the pic. I just want to find a nice clean nail place that actually cares about you and actually enjoys their job doing nail art!!!!!!!!!! They ended up buffing and filing my nails down which are still uneven and tips are not straight at all. She kept asking me if it's good and how many more times am i going to keep telling her it's not good? It's as good as it's going to get at this point. She didn't change the color but applied more color on top and re-did the design. After all of this it came out much better than it initially was 2.5 hours later ..... and $60 They were just overwhelmed by what i was asking for .. obviously not experience in nail art. My favorite nail place on Long Island. Staff are super friendly. They do a clean job. And by clean I mean the tools they use, the cleaning of their products. A lot of other nail salons don't even attempt to keep their products clean but they do. They are super affordable. $22 for a mani/ pedi. You can pay $5 to get your own box of supplies so they use the same supplies on you each time and they don't share your supplies with anyone else. When you make an appointment you generally don't have to wait like some other nail salons. The most I have had to wait when having an appointment is 5 mins or so. I can only speak towards their manicures and pedicures because I do not put tips on my nails. Overall I truly like this nail salon and will continue coming! Happy Yelping :) read more

They don't even say Hello. They talk amongst themselves, and you know they are talking about everyone in there. The place is totally filthy. Nail filings everywhere. They don't clean anything. If i could give 0 stars I would. I feel bad because some of the works are very nice but the two people in charge are absolutely horrible. They ripped me off and were speaking about me in Korean in front of my face. I'll show you what i wanted and what i was given. I wanted the ombré done and they gave it to me in gel which came out like shit, and if they would have told me it comes out better in powder i would have done that in a heartbeat. This is my new favorite nail salon, always friendly, quick and good service and very accommodating/ clean.

I have been going to this nail salon for over 3 years and today will be my last! If prices increase I think that's something that should be mentioned. Everytime I go, I get a design on my nails and today all of a sudden was charged an extra $15 for 2 nails! That's absurd because 3 weeks ago when I got them done I got all 10 with designs and was an extra $10,... I don't care about the money it's the point of the matter! Times are hard and it was not right what they did today! Plus my spa pedicure which i get everytime i go was $45 all of a sudden today was $48! Beyond frustrated and it's no big deal to them! Plus them talking so much to each other where you can't understand them obviously talking about people! The place is dirty but I always over looked it! Today there was a huge cockaroach on the bathroom floor!!!! I will not be recommended this place to anyone anymore! Be careful going to this place! read more

Listen up and if you want to save your money! I came here for the first time for a fill in. We began by drilling my powder gel off instead of soaking. This was painful but I am a bit shy so I held back and thought maybe the rest of the experience will be ok. Next, my acrylic tips were ripped off and I was told I needed new acrylics ? Meanwhile I had gotten fresh ones 2 weeks before. Also $5 charge for almond shape? My usual place does not do that... ridiculous. I still hadn't said anything until I asked for them nicely to be a bit shorter. I was huffed and puffed at for this request. My powder gel was plopped on and not filed down so it looks like I have blobs for fingernail- no attention to detail whatsoever. She did not even check to make sure the acrylics would fit my finger correctly she just guessed and glued it right on even though she struggled to get them glued on (they are the wrong size) Now it looks like i've had these on for 3 weeks and my natural nail is growing through. This place is so much better than expected. Been getting my nails done here every week for just under three months. I always get a gel manicure ($25) and a gel pedicure ($35). The decor is lackluster and it is by no means a "fancy" or "spa-like" nail salon (there is no air-conditioning; minuscule waiting room). However, the work is FANTASTIC. Every technician performs the same, high-quality manis and pedis. I have nails that have never been able to grow, and at the end of two months, my nails were So long that I finally had to cut them back down! I have a physical job and use my hands a lot, and these manicures last 7 days with no chips. Around day 8 or 9, I start to chip and head back in. I've had two gel pedicures so far and they last 8 weeks without any chipping, at all! Furthermore, they have the largest selection of gel colors that I've ever seen; easily over 100 to pick from. It's always busy, so appointments are recommended. Last week I spent an extra $5 to get my own box, which includes a file and a buffer block. They also have a loyalty card and every tenth service earns you a free regular manicure or eyebrow wax, or money off your bill. Love this spot. I've been going here since before it was "First Lady Nails" and they've done an awesome job. Not sure why it's labeled "pricey" because it's reasonable priced for sure. I always had issues with my nails chipping or breaking in the past but they do my nails so well that I don't worry about that anymore. I have been going to this salon for over 10 years on a regular basis going to the same technician lily. When they were challenged with something I saw on the internet an ombré type of gel they tried many times to satisfy me it just couldnt be accomplished I sat in that chair for over 2 hours it was very frustrating from me and the technician then the owner Henry got involved to help he couldn't and got angry with me and said he just can't do it . Well he should of said that from the beginning. After all that he tried to charge me and I thought it was unreasonable so I questioned him and then he said in a nasty tone just pay for pedicure. I was very upset about this being a regular customer for so many years so I didn't go back. After a couple of months I thought I would give them a try again and wouldn't you know it they refused to give me an appointment. They do a good job but I stopped going when during my pedicure the man was having a hard time getting polish off my toes and told me if that happened next time I came I'd have to go to another store. So I had to update my review because I was so disappointed in my SNS powder manicure. There regular gel is great so if your looking for that, this is defiantly your place. I should have known something was wrong when she put a gel top coat (because the whole point of powder is to avoid the uv light etc). Due to this my nails looked flat, the complete opposite of shiny (like they always do) and was literally peeling in a week flat. Then the poor girl who had to take it off at a different salon ended up spending over 40 minutes trying to remove it, in the process almost damaging my own nails. Powder removes so much easier than gel which leads me to believe that whatever brand of powder they use cannot be good for your nails. Moral of the story: go elsewhere if your looking for a well done SNS powder manicure. read more

First let me just say, this was my first time here. Just stating that, because sometimes with more experience, initial impressions change. I left here VERY happy with the service and treatment I received. What this place lacked in decor, they made up for in patience, niceness, and quality. I love my nails. I got a regular pedi, and the powder gel manicure. The price was reasonable, and finished looked pretty perfect. I have an oddly shaped middle finger nail, and places I've gone to before usually leave it thick and even weirder looking (like a duck nail); but I left here thinking it actually looked pretty good. Jackie did my powder gel mani, and Tina my pedi. It seemed pretty busy, but I just beat the rush arriving around 1015. Anything later, I would suggest an appointment. Just recently I have started to get my nails done. In fact I had never had a pedicure before I went to First lady. I know I do not have much experience with other places to compare but I really did enjoy myself at First Lady Nails. First the place was clean. When I walked in the staff was very friendly and right away asked what I was there for. The first time I went I got acrylic nails. The women did an amazing job, and I got compliments everywhere I went. The next time I went in I was done with the acrylics and switched to just a gel polish. Honestly god bless whoever can wear acrylic, you deserve a medal. Just like the acrylic the gel manicure came out fantasy. I recommend a young man named Henry. Lastly they use different linning in the tubs for the pediure which made me feel a little bit more safe, health wise. My only advice is to know what you want when you get there, that way there is no confusion. Also if you go a lot ask for a box to earn discounts and you get your own nail tools. read more
