They had difficulty maintaining a staff, and lacked consistency in all classrooms. They promised a lot in terms of education and preparation for kindergarten, but offered very little. We switched my child to another school where there is an emphasis on academics and curriculum, and my child is now thriving.

I really did not want to go back but covid was a mess to find new daycares so I let both my children go for the summer to utilize the credit that she withheld from me. They leave their school bags outside in the sun before pick up time, a possible "rodent" or animal chewed through my daughter's bag (I don't care about the bag but it's kinda gross to have rodents crawling my children's belongings) but according to the owner, it's impossible. So it must have been either my pet goldfishes or 3 year old son who chewed it out...since it was "impossible"to have rodents outside their building. Friday was pizza day. I gave pizza money but they miscommunicated somehow and didn't feed my daughter. When I tried to talk to the owner, she put her hand in my face and told me "it would never happen again and I had to drop it". Even if I had forgotten to pay, would it be so terrible to feed a child with the half slice of pizza you ordered if she did not have anything to eat? In the beginning of the summer, the teacher told me my son had an accident in his pants, fine, whatever, it happens with kids. Two months later, they returned a bag of soiled clothes to me. It would have been better if they just tossed it. Send in labeled lip balm and sun screen they say, it will be applied if they go out later in the day. Forget it, by the end of the summer, all my sunscreens were brand new. There were many great teachers that worked here but most have left. It's a beautiful new and clean place with lots of potential to be great, unfortunately, when you only look at $ and not use your heart to care for the children that parents trust you with, it will show right through. I spent a few seasons here because I really wanted to like it, all the parents including myself were ultimately disappointed in the management of this daycare.

While I acknowledge this behavior must be corrected and we are disciplinarians, they kicked my son out because he pulled someone's hair? Rather than suggesting extra services (my son had delayed speech for which he received help in the next preschool in Northport), they resorted to abrupt expulsion of a three year old. Outrageous and unfair. My 5 year old of course is now thriving as he received speech therapy. He is well behaved and shame on you for tainting a childhood. God knows what happened in the class that my son is terrified of going back. A security threat? From a three year old? Lazy and unbecoming. Even if you get this review deleted, God is watching you. Both children were taught a ton to be prepared for school. We never had to worry about our children being taken care of and loved. My daughter still asks when she gets to go back. My son needed some extra attention as he transitioned into the pre-k classrooms and the whole team rallied around us as a family. The team (including Stephanie and Miss Reanna) spent some extra time communicating, working with us to create a plan and then work together to keep consistency. After completing a tour and expressing in full details my children's needs and being told that the school was able to provide the needed support, I thought this would be a perfect setting for them. On their first day of school, I received at least five phone calls asking me to leave work and pick my children up. When asked why, I was told that they were having a hard time adjusting to the new environment and left the classroom a few times which was a "safety hazard" to the other children. When I made it to the school I spoke to Matilda Flores/ Assistant Director and Diana Lauth/ Director. Diana began talking to me about my children in the hallway as other parents were walking by and able to hear, which was a HIPPA violation so I asked her to continue the conversation in her office. When we got in her office she was extremely rude and asked me not to bring my daughters back to their facility as they "do not have enough teachers to provide the support my daughters need". Diana stated that the other children's safety were at risk because during reading time, one of my three year old daughters kept standing up and when she was asked to sit down she screamed and frightened another child". I asked Diana if it would help for me to come in to assist for a few hours to see if they'll adjust better being that it was their first day and was told no that wouldn't help. Diana then proceeded to say that she'd talk things over with her boss and call me back. The following day I took off of work and didn't hear anything back from Kiddie Academy. I called around 11am and was told that they'd call me back. At 5pm I received a phone call stating " The team thinks it would be best for me to find alternative daycare" and after one day of my children attending Kiddie Academy, they were being discharged. I did not receive any funds back and I am very hurt and upset that I trusted this facility to care for my daughters and was treated so bad on the first day. Kiddie academy is not welcoming at all and they only care for the money. Again I would not ever recommend this place!

I chose the Kiddie Academy of Islip as they are close to home and the staff there really made me feel like this was the right place for us. During the walkthrough i was shown ALL rooms along with their outside area. Everything looked clean and the staff working with the children at that time seemed happy and attentive to the children (i saw no red flags). They explained how the day typically goes and showed me the room(s) that my son may be in. I was told no shoes were allowed in the infant rooms which im a fan of for obvious reasons and was told that they disinfect everything on the regular. They gave me any documents that i needed to fill out and even showed and explained the weekly menu to me. They were more than willing to provide me with any information that i requested, answered all of my questions, and seemed to be very organized with their processes. With all things considered i really do feel like this was the perfect option for us. The staff is AMAZING and so nice. They send pictures throughout the day and will call me with any questions or concerns (fever/sickness) they might have. If there are ANY changes regarding the schedule for that day, they post notices/announcements right away for all parents to see. The communication with them is great! I can call at any time and they always answer and have never made me feel like i was annoying them. They are always more than happy to help or answer my questions. My first week dropping him off, i was VERY nervous but staff really made me feel at ease. My son is actually very happy when i bring him there in the mornings and seems to love the staff as well. This puts me at ease and makes me happy as i know he is being cared for correctly and that the staff is showing him love and attention. His teacher Ms Rose is also amazing! Every time i pick him up, she gives me the rundown of the day with how he felt, ate, communicated with other children, and so on (even though they submit a daily report). This gives me more insight on his day there and makes me feel like i am not missing anything! You can tell that the staff here really cares for the children. Overall i am VERY happy with my decision of putting my son in this daycare. I am beyond happy with the way that my son is cared for and with the staff that works so hard to make his experience at daycare amazing. As a parent, i need to feel positive about the people he is around and the environment that he is in and the Kiddie Academy of Islip really does such a great job! Now our first daughter is four and a half, and when our second daughter was born (she just turned 2), we knew she'd be happy and well-taken-care-of (and well-loved) there, too! Our second had some gross motor skill delays and had certain special requirements for her care as an infant, and we might have worried that she would have a hard time at full-time daycare, but we knew, based on the care we'd seen with other kids who needed a little help (some kids had their PTs visit during school), we knew that she would be just fine. She is a bright and happy kid, and we were so impressed and grateful for the many ways in which the Directors and her teachers in the infant rooms on up worked with her every day to keep her mind happy, stimulated and busy with age-appropriate activities even when she couldn't crawl when others were starting to walk. When she could crawl but not yet walk, but many classmates were walking, her teachers again made certain she could participate both inside the classroom and on the playground (and not be squashed by the walkers :D). Now she is walking proudly and hasn't looked back! :D We are forever grateful for all the special love and care for her! Both have been attending since they were a few months old, and we continue to be impressed by not only the care, but the educational curriculum, the safety and security of the school, the activities aimed specifically at each child's development, and even the menu! The directors and every teacher learns every child's name, and the girls love being greeted when they arrive. They also love the playground and projects and special fun days (and my preschooler is in Cub Camp for her second year, something she looks forward to), and I love that the curriculum is presented in a way that makes it fun to learn, and that each child comes home with a paper saying what she did, what she ate, how she napped, etc. each day. Most of all, though, you can tell that everyone loves and cares for your children, and it's a safe, nurturing environment that my husband and I feel comfortable having my girls attend.
