I was craving sushi and wanted to try somewhere new. I've been to JP Nori in Littleton before and it was great, so I decided to give their Aurora location a try. The restaurant sits on the corner right off Colfax, and it's kind of easy to miss, but it's nice. They do have their own parking lot, which is helpful since Colfax parking can be hectic. Inside, the restaurant is quite small but nicely decorated and has a cozy feel. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The restaurant was very quiet there was only one other table besides us, yet the service felt very scattered. The server was kind but wasn't necessarily on top of things. For an appetizer, I ordered the tuna tartare. Although the portion was nice, it wasn't served with any chips or anything, which I thought was quite odd. It did have good flavor, but eating tuna tartare with a fork wasn't what I expected. I ordered the sashimi sampler and was quite disappointed, not only with the size of the fish but also because they served three different types of tuna. For a sashimi sampler priced at almost $40, that seemed crazy. Usually there's red snapper, yellowtail, or something other than just tuna. My boyfriend ordered the tankatsu, and it had no flavor and was very dry. We went to JP Nori Sushi for my husband's birthday since he wanted to try a new spot, and we were so glad we did! The restaurant is brand new, very clean, and we were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in. The menu has so many specialty rolls that it was hard to choose because they all sounded amazing. We ended up ordering the spicy tuna roll, spicy scallop roll, shrimp tempura roll, the Yummy Roll, and the seared tuna roll. Every single one was delicious, but the Yummy Roll was my absolute favorite. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of sushi you get, and the service was excellent. The food was very good, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. I especially enjoyed the unagi roll--it was excellent, and I'd come back just for that. The food took a little longer than expected to arrive, but it was worth the wait. The only downside was our server seemed a bit unusual and occasionally made comments under his breath. He didn't appear to enjoy working there, and some of his remarks felt awkward and made the experience a little uncomfortable. Overall, though, the quality of the food would bring me back. read more

Food was good, we had the tuna tartar app and it was delicious, we also ordered three rolls which were good good but very sauce heavy. If we come back here I am going to ask to go light on the sauce, it was almost like you couldn't taste the rolls just the sauces. Service was great and the vibe was very chill and laid back. Super cute neighborhood sushi place where you feel like family when you enter. The staff is so kind and inviting and the service is phenomenal. Tried a few rolls and some sashimi. The sashimi pieces were the most generous that I have ever seen, 2-3x the size of most places. The rolls were well made but the rice was on the warm side which was off-putting to me. The prices are pretty standard and reasonable, I will be back for the sashimi and the service. read more

Came for dinner with wife and a few friends. We came early on a Sunday afternoon and were the first/only patrons during our meal. The food was good; the sushi came out and then the entrees way too quickly. I'd understand if the restaurant was super busy and waitstaff running between tables. This was not the case. The sushi rolls were fresh with good rice and ingredients. They have a lot of options to choose from as well as sashimi and nigiri. The teriyaki beef on the entree was fine. It was chewy. The men's restroom had a waiters apron just sitting on a table and smelled off (even being a bathroom) Good just not great. read more

I consider myself to be a sushi aficionado. Fresh is the key word here. OMG - what an unexpected delight! We debated going in actually because the neighborhood and front presentation was not up to our standards- but so glad we did!! The blue fin was enough to blow your mind in freshness, then the yellowtail with a slice of jalapeño arrived with a yazu sauce that was so good my husband drank what was left. Each roll was so perfect and delicious- plus the seafood dynamite was to die for if you are wanting something cooked! And where can you get actual wasabi that not from a powdered mix? Went with my daughter on a Friday night. Not very crowded which was nice because the food came out fairly quick. The sushi tasted great along with some of the appetizers and dessert type pastry that came out free. I'm excited about this place staying in the neighborhood so I went 5 stars because of the food. Our waitress wasn't very attentive which was the only downfall but there was a guy that was waiting on other tables that was great and asked a few times if we needed a refill. I've been to this restaurant three times since opening and had a great experience with delicious sushi each time. This past week we were having a little family celebration and walked in the day they had blue fin tuna flown in from Hawaii. Wonderful fresh large sashimi cuts were great and rivaled the tuna we had just enjoyed in Japan. It's a new restaurant to the neighborhood (summer 2025) and I encourage everyone to try them out. read more

I am so sad to give this review. We have been so excited to try our new neighborhood addition. We arrived and were promptly seat. And then told it would be 45 minutes before our server would come to our table! Who has 45 minutes to sit in a restaurant with no service? The manager or maybe just a server was up from loudly complaining. The stars are only for the interior and that the kitchen looked clean. So disappointed by the whole experience. We live only blocks away. I doubt we will be back. read more

We were happy to see this restaurant occupied again, and finally tried it today. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There is a lot of attention to the decor and it creates a great ambiance. We had a variety of sushi and sashimi and it was all very fresh and delicious. It is not as pricey as some sushi restaurants but the quality of the food is top notch. They do not have a liquor license presently. Decor was a bit busy. Sushi was average. We had a roll that had so much sauce on it that it was falling apart when they served it to us. Our waiter was a bit absentminded. There certainly could be some improvement. We may go back. read more

Hands down my new favorite sushi spot! The fish was super fresh, the rolls were loaded with flavor, and everything came out looking amazing. You can tell they really care about the quality here. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home, which made the whole experience even better. However, usually only to go orders are placed on a kiosk. In my hangry state of mind, I had not realized that Neko only serves their ramen with chicken broth, so for those of you who prefer tonkotsu broth, this isn't the place for you. For that reason, my husband had to order a chashu rice bowl instead. Personally, I enjoy both paitan and tonkotsu. I went with the black garlic ramen. It didn't take very long for our food to arrive. While we waited, we dispensed water for ourselves from the soda fountain. I was a little confused upon receiving my black garlic ramen, as I thought the black garlic oil would be more prominent. I was assured that I had the right bowl. My husband enjoyed his chashu rice bowl. I had a small bite and the pork was tender and well-seasoned. The paitan broth was very umami indeed. I would have liked to have more of a black garlic flavor, but it was still good. Next time I would just pay the extra $2 for more black garlic oil. The noodles were bouncy, and the chashu was tender. The egg was deliciously jammy (alas no photo because I devoured it). I saw they had soy sauce and hot sauce, but wish they had the classic chili powder so I could have added some to my ramen. Neko Ramen & Rice hit for late night noms, and the cat-themed decor all around (since Neko means cat in Japanese) was such a vibe. They also serve curry, poke, and various small bites if you want some apps to enjoy before your entrees. If you don't mind chicken broth for your ramen or will be ordering rice bowls instead, Neko is a fun little place to come dine at, especially since they open late.

I did not expect the Rock Shrimp Tempura to be that good! The shrimp was lightly battered & fried but the sauces were the highlights! Their creamy spicy is a very well-done spicy mayo but the butter ponzu was unreal! Super addictive, rich, and unlike any sauce I've had before. The courses were separated by a 20-30-minute wait time. The dinner took 2.5 hours to develop, and we were honestly still hungry by the end. The waiter started asking us if were "still hungry" at about the fifth courses. By the end, we felt awkward in asking for more. The wagyu beef was particularly disappointing as the beef was somewhat chewy, lacking taste and small. Waiters seemed to be near their capacity of workload. Didn't really take the time to serve, walk you thru the menus, keep the service moving or even gauge your level of satisfaction. We ordered dessert to celebrate the birthday. Apart from a small chocolate plaque on the dessert that said, "happy birthday", there was no attempt to celebrate the occasion as other less exclusive restaurants do... no "happy birthday" wish, no courtesy dessert... nothing special. I had a great experience at this sushi restaurant--honestly, I went in hungry and left questioning if I should become a regular. First off, the service was amazing. The staff were so friendly and attentive, I started to wonder if they had a sixth sense for empty water glasses and indecisive menu staring. Every time I even *thought* about needing something, they were already there. The food? Absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and I may or may not have considered ordering "just one more roll" about three different times. No regrets. But the real star was the presentation. Each plate came out looking so pretty, I almost felt bad eating it... almost. Let's just say my appreciation for aesthetics lasted about three seconds before I devoured everything. The restaurant smelled noticeably fishy and unwelcoming, which is never a good sign for a sushi spot. seeing a 4.8 star rating on Google, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. That turned out to be a mistake and I should have trusted yelpers (3.8 stars - a terrible rating for as compared to surrounding sushi spots) Both sushi chefs behind the counter had headphones on and were completely preoccupied, working with their heads down and making no effort to acknowledge customers. It set a disengaged tone right away. The menu was extensive but frustrating to navigate, requiring constant cross referencing between the sushi menu and the regular menu just to understand what ingredients were included. Unfortunately, my biggest mistake was ordering the tuna nachos. The dish arrived as mushy, fishy tasting tuna drowned in mango and heavy sauces, completely soaking the wonton chips. One bite was enough and I sent it back - I gagged and almost threw up. We ordered several pieces of nigiri next, and the chef mistakenly prepared smoked salmon instead of regular salmon. What followed was even worse. The fish was stringy, extremely stale, and outright disgusting (apologies in advance for the photo of the stringy fish - this was also another gag moment). I also tried yellowtail that was intensely fishy and unacceptably stringy, pointing to low quality fish and poor preparation technique. The scallop is low quality made up of stale bay scallops. The new style salmon was just as bad, but at that point we did not bother sending back any more dishes. The hot dishes were no better. The fried pork chop was very dry, especially around the edges. The grilled hamachi head was overwhelmingly fishy and not properly grilled. Luckily we had plenty of lemon to make it somewhat tolerable. Service was mixed. The lone waitress was kind and clearly overworked, handling all the tables as well as take out orders - sheas great. Another staff member was on the phone the entire time. When we paid and left, the sushi chefs did not notice and remained absorbed in their music. Overall, this meal showed serious issues with fish quality, preparation, seasoning, and attention to customers. The chefs would genuinely benefit from tasting their own food or visiting nearby reputable sushi spots to better understand balance and technique. Never again.
