Kenji Sushi was an amazing find for lunch. Although we didn't try any do the lunch specials, it was a great value. I ordered the spring rolls for an appetizer and they were hot and tasty, and came with a delicious sweet chili dipping sauce that I really enjoyed. The sushi was obviously the best part of the meal. The Kenji Vegetable roll surpassed my expectations for a veggie option. The mango paired extremely well and rounded out the flavor very nicely. It was almost my favorite roll but the Sex on the Beach roll was the star of the show! It was my first time having a roll with lemon on top but it was the perfect flavor pairing, OMG!! I couldn't stop thinking about how good that roll was for the rest of the day, I highly recommend it! Service was fast because I visited after a morning snow which I enjoyed. Parking around the place is free and you can park in the back. I must say the miso is amazing. Very rich in taste. Got a boat of sushi. Red snapper, yellow tail, salmon, shrimp, and a dragon roll. While the sushi is good the service not so much. The lady forgot to put in for the noodles, never came to check on our table. Never refilled my tea, I had to track her down. Spilled all over the table and did a crappy wipe up of it. Disappointed in the service. my udon noodle soup was delightful. the broth was very tasty. the sushi rolls also slap, and they're priced fairly. my favorite was the spicy maki roll. i ate here around 1:30 pm and it wasn't busy at all, which is always suspicious, but it was early in the afternoon. don't be fooled by this if you find yourself in the same situation, because the food and service here are wonderful. the interior is a little dark... i remember a lot of black, so probably a good dinner spot! read more

Ok, let's start with what they're really good at: The staff is wonderful. Super attentive, very friendly and welcoming, and good at their craft. The dining experience aesthetically is a good one - the restaurant is clean and well kept, the ambiance is pleasant without being 'fancy'. The pricing, particularly for the lunch specials and Bento box's is great, relative to the current state of pricing elsewhere. The food is pretty good, but I have had better (far more expensive). So my verdict is that for the price, Kenji is worth a visit! read more

My girlfriend and I had an incredible meal here today. We walked in for lunch after I had wrist surgery next door at Kaiser. The place is clean, well decorated and very warm and fuzzy feeling. We were welcomed immediately and sat within 20 seconds of walking through the door. We ordered drinks and those drinks showed up within a minute. The waiter was extremely pleasant and helpful. We ordered teriyaki salmon and a teriyaki beef bento box. The food came out within ten. Invites and it was wonderful. Warm, fresh, well and a beautiful presentation. For dessert was ordered a fried banana and strawberry ice cream. It was incredible though to think the banana was beaded a tad more than I'd like. I ended up ordering from here two times during my stay -- both times were through the Yelp app and the experience was quick and seamless. Even though my husband went over to pick up my orders as soon as I placed them, they were ready for him by the time he showed up. I stuck with the California roll variations on the menu since I wasn't allowed to eat raw fish, and they were all delicious. A solid option for delivery! I ordered some food from Kenji on a whim, since I was craving some udon. The food arrived on time and I'm glad I ordered from here. Their nabeyaki udon is on less pricey than other restaurants at $11, and was definitely worth it. I liked that there was a good amount of chicken, but was not as much of a fan of the abundance of sliced carrots and onions in it. I also ordered a california roll which didn't fall apart and tasted fresh. My only complaint has to do with the delivery where the udon noodles were packaged together with the soup and all the toppings which wouldn't have worked out too well if I lived further away from the restaurant. The four pieces of California roll that comes in the bento was bigger than the salmon. To add insult to injury they laughed with each other about the portion size, gave me a million excuses as to why the meat portions are so small (blaming increasing food costs. So the obvious solution is to reduce the portions SIGNIFICANTLY and charge the same price?!), and giving a $2 discount. Needless to say Kenji Sushi won't get another dime from me. read more

My first time ordering from Kenji last week was a great experience, the three rolls plus wontons were great. I just received my second order from them, five rolls plus chicken fried rice and Yaki udon noodles. This time around I'm not so impressed. The white rice around every roll fell off and the rolls simply fell apart. For the two trays of sushi we only received one small portion of wasabi vs a portion on each tray. It also was hard to tell if there was fish inside our rolls. Also, the rolls labeled spicy on the menu had zero spice. So maybe it was an off night for the sushi chef? I ordered a salmon roll & sweet potato roll through Uber Eats and unfortunately, the Uber driver forgot the salmon roll. This wasn't the restaurant's fault, but I called to see if my other roll was still there. They were very accommodating and quickly dropped off the missing roll themselves for no extra charge. I cried tears of joy upon eating this sushi. Seriously! Laid up in bed the day following throat surgery, I came across this sushi joint online. Great reviews? Great photos? Done deal! Ordering through DoorDash, I made a special request for smaller pieces and a little less rice--Many restaurants don't allow for special requests nowadays, I was beyond grateful when they accepted. Now back to the reasoning for the waterworks: The photo attached to this review is the deliciousness that I received and despite my emotional and physically fragile state, I had to call and thank someone at Kenji. The sweet angel receiving online orders personally ensured that the instructions were followed. During that brief phone call, I could tell that some truly awesome people work here. The cherry on top of their excellent customer service had to be their sushi: a lovely combination of fresh fish and quality ingredients rolled to perfection. This is not one of the better sushi places in Denver. Here's why- First, the place is freezing cold! The wait staff is wearing puffy coats and hats. Turn on the damn heat. Hard to enjoy a meal when you have to wear a winter coat while dining. Second, the sushi rolls are tiny and they are really skimpy with the fish. Ordered yellowtail jalapeño and the jalapeño slices were bigger than the pieces of sushi. The sushi rolls are about the smallest I've ever seen. Pics attached. Third, ordered a large beer and saki. The waiter delivered them each with 1 glass. Said that's all he had? There was like 5 people in the restaurant. I guess it's BYOG? COVID-19 delivery order, definitely not the full-court press regular customer experience. If this were "regular" times, I probably would be a lot more harsh, but let's give restaurants a break right now. They're trying their best under pretty unusual circumstances. Up until now, my GrubHub experiences have been fabulous. Whether it's last-minute dinner delivery, ordering meals for group meetings, or sending something special to someone else in a different US city, they've done a great job. Until last Friday. I ordered Kenji before 7 pm and it didn't arrive to my house until just before 9:30 pm. I called twice to inquire about my order and both times the gal who answered the phone said the food was on its way. Either she wasn't telling the truth or the delivery driver made a significant detour. Kenji is about a 12-minute drive door-to-door from their restaurant to my house... so, you do the math. The good news: Kenji's sushi rolls held up pretty well overnight. We ended up having a $60 lunch on Saturday with everything that was ordered Friday evening: Edamame, spicy lobster tempura roll, red rainbow roll, yellowtail roll, crunchy roll. At the end of the day, I got over it and realized there's way worse problems in the world than getting your sushi delivery later than expected. I probably won't order from GrubHub or Kenji anytime soon but I'm not going to hold a grudge with them, either. read more

We picked up a Groupon for Kenji Sushi - $18.50 for $30 worth of food/drinks - & tried the most sushi things we could try! I got the Denver Roll (avocado, cucumber , cream cheese topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail & flying fish roe), while my boyfriend got the Sushi Deluxe (an assortment of 10 Sushi + California Rolls). It was all very good buuuuut it was a lot of raw fish...as it should be, right? Although we may not be the biggest sushi people, I still feel like this was quality sushi + we got to sit on the nice patio & the service was very good as well! Is this a good sign? Or a bad sign? Should we leave or what?? Anyways we "brave" and we asked for the seats near the entrance on the Left Wing of Kenji Sushi. Time was about 12:10hrs ish. When we were given the MENU, outside the Menu booklet, its named as GENKI. Hmmm... another confusion for me??? **(INSERT CONFUSED LOOK)** This Sushi establishment is being ran by a Chinese Family, in which I forgot which part they were from. How do I found out, coz we shared conversations with the staffs while we were there. From their Menu, I ordered these items : * Golden Mussels ($6.95) * Crispy Calamari ($7) * Eel ($5.50) * Sweet Raw Shrimp Nigiri ($8) * Spicy Scallop ($6) * Spicy Lobster ($6) * Flying Fish Egg/Roe ($4.50) My friend opt to have the Sashimi Lunch ($12.95). Her Sashimi SET Lunch comes with Miso soup and Salad. The Golden Mussels are OK. Though once again yet another establishment that offer the Mussels which have broken shells so be careful when eating out of those Mussels. At least they sprinkled with the Tobiko or Masago eggs aka fish roe on top of the Mayo Mussels from the Broiler. Hence there is a "crunch" or a different taste profile from other Golden Mussels I ever ate before... The Calamari is OK. The Calamari are those "rings" kind of cuts which you can purchased at BULK restaurant/warehouse and its "panko" fried. At least it came out piping hot, good in my books. The dipping sauce for the Calamari are those you can find at any grocery store. Man, I forgot to ask if they make their own sauces. What I ate and had NOTHING stood out. At least its way better than some local neighborhood Sushi establishment in some neighborhood that I have been to. At least the pricing of the food DOES NOT COST an ARM or LEG. All in all OK sushi/nigiri. DO NOT expect mind blowing dining experience or sushi here. My friend likes what she had for her Lunch.
