    Assortment of rolls

Overall a great experience. We ordered a bunch of rolls and we found the specialty rolls were all really good while the standard rolls tended to be pretty standard and probably worth skipping. I make it a habit to order at least one roll that combines sweet and savory and their mango roll hit the spot dead on. My daughter loves rolls with eel and the eel was cooked to our liking. Creative rolls, at a decent price, tender to by a friendly and helpful staff in a welcoming environment. Great experience in general.

    Everything was delicious!

Wanted to get dinner a little outside of the main downtown areas and came across Sushi Bay 17. Beware that the parking lot next to the restaurant is not for customers. We found street parking nearby and walked over. We were sat immediately and given the menu to order. We ordered a bunch of rolls and a few other items. They make your order fresh, so it took some time to be delivered to our table, but it was worth the wait. My favorite was the toro! So delicious and fresh. Everything else was great as well (we mostly ordered tuna and yellowtail). If I'm ever in town again and need a sushi fix I know I will be popping into Sushi Bay 17!

Not sure if my standards for sushi are high but sushi bay was not great. We got miso soup, crab wontons, hamachi app, 1 tempura roll, 4 nigiri and it was $50.. much rather go to a temaki den for the same price. The fish itself was not bad, but the rice was cold and just tasted like grocery store sushi. The crab wontons also probably one of the worst I've had. If they could figure out the rice then this place would be better.

What a great sushi. Found this place as I was just exploring the city and I am glad I did. Ordered the Big time roll ( my favorite) and hangover roll. All great ones and I am eager to come back and explore the other ones.

I was truly looking forward to some quality sushi based on the perfect 4-star review but this place failed to impress me unfortunately. Online order was easy to do. And even if you choose the payment method of credit card, it does not make you pay at the time of order; you can pay for it at the time of pick-up which I thought was nice (not that I didn't want to pay for it right then.) You can also pick "cash pay upon pick up". For this, they are really flexible. On a holiday (January 1st to be exact), not many restaurants were open so I certainly appreciated them for working hard to be open when the workers can take off and rest at home. I just needed several sushi (nigiri) pieces so I picked white tuna, albacore tuna, yellow tail and striped bass. Each one (two pieces) were $6. Not bad.... Upon arriving at the restaurant to pick it up, I was able to take a few photos outside. Parking lot (west side) has several spaces. I liked the wall art (mural) on the wall. "Irasshaimase" sign at the entrance was very nice. Upon entering, there was only one table seated by two men. There were a few others but they appeared to be waiting for their pickup orders. The restaurant is/was very simple but definitely clean. Quite roomy so the tables were not placed cramped together. If you walk over to the ladies room to the right of the sushi bar, you'll notice a door that has a sign says "karaoke room". The rate for an hour is $27. I wonder how roomy that is. I didn't bother to check it. One of the guys at the sushi bar who greeted me said they were out of striped bass so he asked me to pick something else that is/was at the same price ($6) so I picked salmon. My order was ready only a few minutes after he and I had conversed. When I opened the bag, all the sushi pieces were neatly lined up in a typical sushi container. They looked good at the first glance but the pieces were a pretty small. Salmon was the best tasting one out of all four. The red snapper was the most disappointing one as it was chewy and didn't taste fresh. Mmm....I'm not impressed... The overall experience wasn't horrible but is this a place I'd go back all the way from my northeast DTC home? I don't think so.... Well, at least I tried, right? I can only give this place a 3-star review.

I don't know why I keep ordering from this place. Every time I eat it I say to myself I will never order from there again. I guess convenience as it's walkable to my apartment. But this time was really the last. The soup portion is half the size it used to be. I paid extra for spicy mayo and they gave me 1/100 of a container full... laughable really. The Boston roll was missing mayo and the lettuce was old. The rice was hard. The seaweed was stiff. I've had better grocery store sushi. Last time I ordered, the fish was smelly and slimy. The time before that, half went in the garbage. Never again.

I have fond memories of Sushi Bay 17. My partner and I came here on a whim one weekday evening, and it was completely empty. We were immediately seated, and I ordered some delicious hot sake. We also placed an order for 3-4 sushi rolls, which were reasonably priced... as advertised on their website. Partially I think it's because the rolls have less ingredients and are thinner than other sushi places, but honestly I prefer being able to fit the sushi in my mouth. Some spots get so carried away with the size of their sushi rolls! Can't remember the names of what we got, but they were all filling. I'd definitely come here again, especially for their lunch specials. Or just easily order take-out through their website. Plus, I didn't realize there's a karaoke room in the back!? There's more to Sushi Bay 17 than meets the eye. Lots of mixed reviews on Yelp but worth trying in my opinion.

This is by fav my favorite sushi spot in Denver, and I have tried a lot at this point. Their rolls are always incredible, the apps are great, I love their green salad as well. They're very flexible in letting you customize rolls if needed as well! They recently had a volcano roll as a special and it was AMAZING. They also have karaoke which is awesome and really affordable too!

Great place from the comfortable chairs and booths to the clean environment full of natural light. Our host was super sweet and courteous. The lightly battered shrimp for the appetizer and fresh and perfectly sized sushi/rolls. We had the hot house sake flowing today, which we decided on adding the Raspberry liquor too and I'm super glad we did; Very delicious!! There is private parking along the side of the building, and if you're lucky enough, street parking may be available as well. Sushi Bay 17 is certainly a well deserved treat if you are in the area.

Places is a solid 4 stars. We went in at lunch time around New Year's Day. They had just opened but the service was friendly and accommodating. We had planned on ordering off the lunch menu to save a few bucks. We ended up deciding to venture on our own. Everything was really good. The unagi was seared and hot. The Toro and the Toro roll were a hit. Overall a decent sushi experience. They do have Karaoke rooms, we didn't rent one but we were intrigued for next time we are in the area.

The experience truly begins with the reservation, where you are asked a series of questions from your familiarity with sushi, fish preference, appetite level, and so on. On the date of, you are led to a private room in the back, Denchu Den, which is a simple, private sushi bar for up to 4 guests. Then, Chef Yasu comes out for a truly intimate experience, one that is extremely rare to come by, even in Japan. It is truly just your party and the chef as he prepares some truly epic bite. And the menu is not set, it really depends on your personal taste, and the food continues basically until you tap out. As such, there is no set price, though typically we run up about $150-200 a person. It's a 2 hour experience during which you get to experience that Japanese hospitality with chef Yasu. We talked with him about his home, learned about his experience in Denver, and he provided some fun facts about sushi and Japanese in culture in general. I cannot praise this truly unique experience enough, and, in fact, we have been back here every single year. The cherry on top is that as you return, Chef Yasu starts to remember your preference and even past conversation. And it does not end there. Based on our conversation where I discussed my next Japan trip, Chef Yasu even took time to send us an email with his recommendations. It was also surprising because the restaurant wasn't busy. There were open bar seats and plenty of open tables, so I'd be nervous to see what the experience is like on a busy night. It's disappointing because the food is solid, but the pacing and service make it hard to come back.

5 star food and service at Mizu Izakaya! Our experience made for a perfect, fun Friday Date night…read more I came for the crispy spicy tuna and it was easily the best I've had. We also really enjoyed the chili wontons, pork belly skewers, and Kobe beef buns - all were super high quality and packed with flavor. We didn't care for the cucumber salad - the large chunks just didn't take on any flavor and felt like eating plain cucumber. The ambiance is very high energy and can be loud (there's a live DJ), but we had a wonderful experience on the patio.

I stopped by this spot after catching a candlelight orchestra performance nearby and was craving…read moresome sushi--and this place definitely delivered, just not in the way I expected. When I walked in, it felt more like a club than a traditional restaurant. The music was loud, the energy was high, and the crowd was definitely on the younger side. Honestly, I've never really experienced anything quite like it--part restaurant, part nightlife vibe--but it was kind of cool in its own way. I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered sushi along with a seaweed salad and an Old Fashioned. The food was actually really good--fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot after the show. That said, if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing dinner, this probably isn't your place. But if you're open to a lively atmosphere and something a little different, it's a fun experience. I enjoyed my food, soaked in the vibe, and left glad I gave it a try.
