I have been a customer with JP Pest for almost 3 years now. I live in the woods, so I am part of their quarterly program. It is a hassle free program and very straight forward. I receive an email with a day they have picked for the inspection, and as the day gets closer they will give a time window. If there are any issues with the date, a simple call can change it to a better day if needed. Plus, if there are any issues in between the normal call-outs, they will come and assist without an additional charge. Every time a technician has been sent out, they are incredibly polite and I always receive an excellent explanation of what they find or what the technician is doing. They also give you a printed sheet of the inspection notes, along with what was applied/changed/baited. I appreciate this, since as soon as they leave I forget everything. They have been a huge help in keeping out mice, and getting rid of a large carpenter bee problem we were having. I have even used their Wildlife Services division to get rid of about 50 flying squirrels in my attic. The initial consultation was very informative of what the situation was, how they were going to approach getting rid of them, and by what means. They sealed up any entry points on the outside where they were getting in, and then installed a one-way trap to let the squirrels back outside, but not back in. I was very happy with this approach and that they would not be killed. I have used the "big-brand" pest companies before, but JP Pest really sets themselves apart from the rest. It has the smaller company feel, and they are very helpful and responsive. I will continue to be a customer for a very long time. read more

So sad. I have been a customer for many years shelling out the quarterly fee for the service but then when I actually have an issue and need someone to come out they can not come for 7 days. There website says if you are a customer they will send someone out right away if you have a problem. Any of the Tech's that have come to my property have also said the same thing. These guys are Great. We used to have Colonial but they have the worst customer service ever. They charge more and do a poor job. We had them for 16 years, and were late on one bill, got a real nasty letter from them. Also got and Ant infestation and Wasps. They never fixed the Ants, and came out and didn't get the Wasps taken care of. That is why we went with JP 1. Called JP, they are there the next day to take care of the problem. Colonial comes at their leisure (week from call to service). 2. JP told us "if you still see wasps in 3 days call us back and we will come back out. Called Colonial and were told will get back to us. They did several days later but we waited so long just for a call back we scheduled JP. 3. JP charged us less 4. JP gave us a guarantee they will clear the wasps and if there is any problem they will come back up for the rest of the year. Something to be said for actual service, and JP supplies it. PS Colonial "refunded" my money to take the bad review off yelp. Colonial sees it's customers as a piggy back they keep grabbing money from but never really delivering. The only time you hear from Colonial is when you post how poor their service really is! read more

Good service and reliable. Our technician was very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall I was very pleased with JP pest and they eradicated our wasps. HOWEVER I'm only giving 4 stars because they require you to sign up for a yearly subscription service if you require treatment for wasps, even though I requested just a one time treatment. Now I have to remember to cancel the subscription. Annoying! read more

These people are the worst! I was glad I found they had a yelp page. Six months ago we called them on the word of mouth to take care of a fresh bed bug problem and so far they have done nothing to resolve the issue. So far my roommate and I both have had to get rid of all of our belongings and buy new things. Yet they claimed after months of spraying they weren't seeing anymore evidence of bed bugs. I'm considering legal action against this company in federal court or seeing what federal agency I can turn them into so they are no longer allowed to scam people. Bottom line: Just be aware of these con-artists. read more

I was a paying customer for a year. In fact, I paid for a year of service in advance. They came out the first time, and everything was great. I signed up for their quarterly service, and was told that they come out every quarter, and whenever I need them, no matter how many times they need to come out. They repeatedly explained that anytime we have a bug or mice problem, we should call. Whenever I would have an issue, I would call the office, as I was told in the beginning, and the customer service was very nice, and always say "we'll send someone out to help." Beyond the quarterly service, they came out probably 4 times this past year. Once was because we found a bunch of wasps entering an area of the house. Some of those times was because the technician was not prepared. I had called because we were having a fly issue, and when he came, he said he didn't have any fly traps, and would have to come back another time with one if we continued seeing flys. Another time they came out again because we continued having fly's and were unsure if they were drain fly's or fruit fly's, and were doing what we could to rid our house of them. They said they would have the technician take a sample to their entomologist. He came, but didn't feel he needed to do that, so instead, insisted they were fruit fly's; despite the fact that we had no fruit for months, no sign of a fly infestation, etc. By that time, he gave us a little trap, and after awhile, we saw no more flys. Then, fast forward to winter, and despite having traps, we found mouse droppings in our house; so, of course we called them. They came out, replaced the traps, and left. We continued seeing mice. Another technician doing a free inspection from a competing company said they were not using the right kind of traps; I won't get into that, because I honestly don't know, as he was likely simply trying to get my business. The fact is, they came out for the quarterly service, and 4 additional times, and seemed to have felt that was above and beyond what they should do. My point is, if there is a limit, they should tell the customer. In fact, the competing company that came out said that they come out 3 times per year instead of 4, and will come out an additional 2 times if needed. So, they have a clear policy limit to the amount of times they come out. Why does JP Pest Control not have a clearly stated policy limit, when they in fact have a limit? The last service I received was towards the end of April, despite the fact that I had over 2 months left on my contract (that was paid far in advance). The technician that came to do the service would not search for fleas (though we called in advance), nor would he spray on the inside perimeter (we had been seeing spiders often). He stated that he didn't see any (as if spiders would be hanging out 24/7 in plain site), and that if I had a problem, I would need to call the office when I see them. So, the next morning, with 2 1/2 months to go, they tell me that they will not renew my contract because basically, they came out more than the quarterly service allotted. They didn't state that specifically, and made an attempt at saying it nicely, alluding to the fact that they didn't feel they could "service my needs," however, I protested, because I did in fact want to keep the service, because I was happy overall, and did not want to find a replacement company. I also spoke with them on the same day, mentioning the fact that despite it being my last service, the technician refused to spray inside my house. Their response was basically to say that he did, and there was no reason to come out and spray again. I was there, he refused to inspect for fleas (even though they told my wife the same week all of these tips to prepare for treatment, and that he would inspect the house for fleas). It seems that if you do have them come out when there is an issue, and they feel they have come out too much, than they cancel the contract. If they had said in the beginning that they have a quarterly service, and will come out an extra 1 or 2 times, I would have understood that. It's their policy to state they come out anytime I need them; our service should not have been canceled because they decided it was too much for them to honor their own policy. Update: After all of this, they refunded my last quartly service, and I thought that was the end of it. Weeks later, I then receive a bill for over $110, and had to sit on hold for several minutes waiting for a customer service agent; only to be told that they would have someone contact me. So now, after all of these other issues, I have to dispute a bill. read more

We switched to JP from Modern because JP is cheaper and more local. Turns out we will be getting Modern bask ASAP due to the failure of JP to do their job. We have been dealing with ants, spiders, and other insects all summer and now we've been finding mice in the house. Our cat is doing a better job then JP. read more

We've used JP Pest Services for over a year now (they were recommended by a friend). I could not be happier with their service. They are responsive to any inquiries, professional, thorough and reasonably priced! Most importantly, our pest situation has finally been addressed. I got tired of emptying mouse traps in our attic throughout the winter and never making a dent. We have a 1900 house with a stone foundation so it is basically impossible to keep all critters out - but we've seen a HUGE reduction and no one in the attic! It's important to strike a balance - expecting zero critters is unrealistic, and I don't want to poison everything. I'm not thrilled with bait stations (yes I still feel guilty), but nothing else worked. JP Pest Services has helped us find the balance I was looking for. read more

JP Pest's website is full of very positive reviews. So, unless they wrote them themselves, they must have something going for them. I called them with a squirrels-in-the-eaves problem. They came to check it out - and left me a contract that said for a whopping $750 they would install some one-way doors and then come back in two weeks to remove the doors and seal off the holes. Based on those great reviews, I accepted the deal, although I thought the price was ridiculously high. They did what they said they would do - and there was no improvement in the squirrel situation. Their website says: "Our Guarantee is very simple: If the pests come back, we come back. We will clearly explain both verbally and in writing the length of the warranty period for your service. If pest activity continues during that period; we're a phone call away... free of charge." I called them - and they came back. Whatever they did failed to solve the problem. So, I called again. And they came back, this time to set four traps in the eaves. The traps were ineffective. So, I called them again (still within the year's warranty) and asked them to check the chimneys (why they didn't think of that in the first place is beyond me). And this time, they left me a new contract that said for an additional large sum of money, they would come fix the chimneys so that squirrels could not enter the house. So, let me get this straight. I paid $750 to have my squirrel problem solved - and they didn't solve it. And now they want more money to try again? As if I would fall for that a second time! If you hire these guys, try to get them to agree to solve the problem first, and get their money second. read more

I spoke with Scott D. & Colin and they offered a detailed explanation of why the non-communication occurred. They've worked with me since in explaining how they would solve my pest problem and I am now strongly considering them to do the job. I have been impressed with their level of professionalism in dealing with their initial lapse. Whether or not we end up selecting them to safeguard our home, I can now recommend to have JP be one of the vendors you evaluate. =================== I am very disappointed in JP Pest Services. They sent a technician out in mid-December and he seemed very helpful and knowledgeable. He promised a call-back in a few days. Nothing. I then called him and left 2 separate messages for him. I have been a customer of JP Pest Services (formerly JP Chemical) for many years now and I have been happy with their service. I had an ant infestation some years ago that caused quite a bit of damage. I had it repaired and then started the BiAnnual Ant service which has kept the pest away nicely. So over all, I have been happy. This year I had our house on the market for sale in early April and there was a good possibility that it would be sold before June. I called the JP Pest office and tried to have the first part of the service done with the idea that the new owner would purchase the second phase of the service. They said they wouldn't do that because it wasn't effective, so I opted to not do the service and would inform the new owner that it needed to be done. By June, the house had still not sold, I opted to call the office to pay for the full service for the year since there was a possibility that the house would not sell this year. I was taken aback, as a long term customer, when I was informed that because I didn't pay for the service by May 1, that an extra charge was being added that amounted to almost $75. Having been in business for a number of years myself, I know that it is much more difficult to find a new customer than to keep an existing one. Punitive policies such as this one is a very poor business practice and demonstrates a lack of respect for loyal customers. The performance of the company's function is excellent, but their business practices leave much to be desired. I will not be recommending them to the new owner of my home when it sells. read more

Very pleased with JP Pest services. After having a UNH Coop Extn entomologist identify carpenter ant pupa (so gross!), JP came out and sprayed inside, around the entire house, and the nest. Ants have been dying for the last few weeks (I think they're about done - finally)! Their services are waranteed for 6 months. They came out in a timely manner, were very respectful of us and our pet and left documentation about the insects. I highly recommend!!! read more

Very disappointed with visit for quotation. In the process of looking at the current termite system the tech broke the cap off one of the Sentricon stations as he used a hammer instead of the correct tool to inspect one of the stations and did not offer to replace the damage he did. He did not explain why to use his company or details about the products they use. He simply measured the house dimensions for quote. I called to get a comparison against the current service provider as we have recently moved into the house. If this technician was representative of their company I suggest staying away from JP Pest Services. read more

The first time JP Pest came out it was amazing. They sprayed my house with something, and anytime a spider or bug came too close it died instantly. I was so happy! But then their service went down hill FAST. Once spring time came around again I kept calling and saying I had a lot of spiders and I wanted my house sprayed again. They would send someone and it was never resolved. They'd sprinkle some stuff that didn't work, spray a different chemical that didn't work. I kept saying I needed something as strong as the first time. Why am I paying all this money to still have bugs! And ALOT of bugs, like I didn't have a pest service at all. To make matters worse they came quite a few times out of their time block. I make my own schedule, so if they said they could be here between 12-2 I would be home at 11 and plan on being home until they left. Often I would get home to find out they had come before I got home! And spoke to my children to find out the problem! My children, seriously?! So then I would need to schedule another day to have them come. That is not ok. So after months and months of dealing with this, I finally canceled my service. A year ago I would have recommended them, but now I can't at all. They changed their chemicals or just started caring less. I don't know exactly which happened, but believe me it's not worth the money, the headache or hassle. There has to be a better way to get rid of bugs. read more
