I want to say that the nurses are wonderful the few times I've been here. I have no complaints. Yesterday I had a seizure from dehydration, I've never had one before and that was the scariest moment in my life. I had to go in an ambulance and went to JPS since I have no insurance. The stupid doctor NEVERRRR visited my room to talk to me or run any tests since I didn't have physical trauma or a history of seizures. Nobody explained to me exactly what the hell happened except for my nurse when she was disappointed the doctor didn't speak to me, and if she did visit my room then she did not even introduce herself like an actual proper legal doctor and she looked just like a nurse. There was one girl that came in that belittled me, and I guess she came in when I was in the bathroom, my mom thinks maybe she was the doctor. Isn't it crazy how we don't even know?!? I don't think an idiot like that deserves medical practice. Get some damn help if you're overwhelmed in the ER and treating patients poorly (or not at all LMFAO.) Dumbass lady. My stepfather was taken here after reporting he felt paralyzed, and in result he lost count of how many pain killers he had taken. The paramedics themselves were dragging him in a dolly chair and not caring if he was secure. The lady paramedic also yelled in his face demanding to know what he took. JPS has a large network of physicians and clinics, and having been a patient, and the child of a patient for many years, we've had a variety of experiences with them. When the network implemented Studor Group training, there were noticeable improvements in bedside manner, efficiency, and overall treatment. Unfortunately, since some people have left JPS, we've noticed a decline in those improvements. If you see multiple doctors and specialists, there's very little interdepartmental communication - it creates unnecessary delays and misunderstandings, from personal medical info to insurances accepted and services available to patients - even what insurance JPS accepts. There are consistently issues with communication between the pharmacies and doctors offices, as well as trying to get questions answered via MyChart (either the person responding doesn't actually address what you've written, or they don't respond.) The office of Patient and Family Experience is unlikely to back up a patient if they've had a considerable issue with a doctor, NP, and/or nurse. A disappointing amount of staff seems to have reverted back to treating patients first as drug seeking, rather than listening to their actual health concerns (they are also unlikely to provide much pain control, even during a hospital stay,) or treating patients as if they're inconveniencing them (I imagine due to the high volume some of them see, and their offices usually running behind.) Some of the staff is excellent, like Jonah Groover in surgical podiatry, and Haley Leverett Sweeney in PC/clinical pharmacist. The staff at the pharmacy on Arkansas Ln. is also kind, helpful, and efficient. Unfortunately, I've been talked down to and even yelled at by doctors and NPs, even ones I'd previously had no issues with, when a problem arose. My mom was physically assaulted by a physical therapist, and the subsequent meeting with her and other hospital officials proved to be very frustrating, and demonstrated a desire to protect the staff over the patients. I don't say all of this to scare anyone, just to prepare people that they may have vastly different experiences depending on who they see/are treated by, and that they'll likely have to advocate for themselves strongly, and often (especially if they need multiple doctors.) If you have a choice, I would recommend going elsewhere, but I understand that many people don't. So, just be as aware of your treatment, records, etc. as possible, and don't allow staff to ignore or mistreat you just because you don't have another alternative. read more

Murderers! Killed my father doing a surgery that was never approved by his medical poa. They held him hostage and wouldn't let us in to see him. He couldn't stand walk or talk due to stroke years before. They didn't give him pain meds after cutting a hole you could stick your fist into. They left it open and while packing it They punctured his colon. They collapsed both his lungs incubating him incorrectly and between that and him becoming toxic due to them puncturing his colon he died 3 days after the surgery and we were never allowed in to see him even though his disability requires his representative to speak for him. He went in for constipation and they were supposed to treat him with water, debriment. They did an entirely different procedure and Killed him. Though he was completely paralyzed on the right side of his body, they put restraints on both hands, leaving bruises on his arms, one of which he couldn't even move! No pain meds because they said he never asked for any, he could not talk! Murderers! Held my sweet daddy hostage, let him suffer to death from injury caused by their student doctors who were unsupervised, and kept us from seeing him and being there with him leaving him to die alone! I cannot speak for a different department in JPS but the maternity dept has been nothing but AMAZING! From the clinic in Stalcup (dr Alexander, dr Santay and dr Cook) to hospital nurses and drs. This is my 2nd pregnancy and 14years apart from my 1st. So people told me that baby will come fast and easy but NOPE! Labor was longer with more pain and more complications. Got infection during labor, high blood pressure then bottom down, epidural rejection from my body 12hours in, and all kind of stuff. But JPS staff was nothing but amazing. They took care of me like I am their own family member. I went to Harris Methodist and Baylor and everybody seems so miserable. Not sure why. The facility sure seems bigger and nicer but not the staff. JPS staff went above and beyond during my labor! Even the cleaning lady that cleaned my bathroom in my room. Every one seems sooo happy to be there and they exhume positivity. I love it. Thank you for making my experience better and easier. Will definitely do this again at JPS. read more

I had shoulder pain so I went to see Dr. Webb with JPS. This was my first and LAST time using this crooked system! For an office visit, one x-ray and a steroid injection, they charged my insurance more than $3,700!!! They charge a $350 "facility fee" for just walking through the door, so BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!! They made a $1,000 between what I paid at the visit and what the insurance paid and they had the NERVE to bill me again for more than $1,000!!!! I will be reporting them for insurance fraud immediately! read more

I made an appointment that was scheduled for 3 months away, however, by that time I had developed pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital at Baylor All Saints. So needing to follow up with a primary care, I didn't have one. I begain the journey of trying to schedule an appointment again,. I was told there is a 7 month wait list and I had gotten on that particular wait list 4/24 and as of last chat with JPS I still have no primary care appoint with today being 2/24/25 and found out last month that they no longer take my insurance. I had changed insurances at open enrollment. For emergency I would not recommend JPS because I had covid and they didn't even give me an X- ray and the visit to the ER is not shown in mychart. My family member was put out on the street 15 miles from home, with no wallet, no money, no phone, no phone call, no food no water, over 100 degrees outside and obviously was in mental distress!!! He walked ALL DAY just to get back home even though I was calling and calling and NOBODY THERE would tell me if he was there or not!! How is this SAFE for the COMMUNITY or PATIENT? How can anyone think that allowing someone suicidal roam the streets aimlessly in an unfamiliar area where they have never been before that doesn't look very safe.... and he's already attempted harming himself and you think it's a great idea for him to be thrown out in the street with nothing!! Was taken there in my 20s, horrible experience. Probably the worst experience of my life. I still have nightmares of some of the things they did in there. If you know anyone who struggles with mental health don't take them here. It was borderline abuse and there's no way to fight the abuse as a "mentally ill" person. I'm speaking on the mental health ward. They lock people up when they don't know how to help them. Everything from homeless people to criminals, they lock them all in one room. Don't allow the lights to be turned off, force people to sleep in front of open windows, no privacy when using the restroom, it was horrible. I feel bad for the good nurses and doctors who are powerless to help others here. Not to mention they draw blood once you fall asleep :( So creepy. read more

So I was seen by PA Sarah Sepulveda Farrar tonight in the JPS ER. My Cbc differential was abnormal, as was several of my other labs, I have had ongoing gastro issues, and have been nauseated with diarrhea for a week straight, have been dealing with this for several months straight. I did set an appt with the Gasto dr but the soonest they can get me in is the end of March (per JPS) , anyway, there's clearly some kind of infection going on, and the last few times this happened they perceived me two antibiotics that do clear it up for a month or so at least, but she told me I can get antibiotics from the Gastro dr ! -- in March? Till then I'm just supposed to stay sick? She did however write me a prescription for protonix? Which is for reflux. With? I don't have an issue with heartburn or reflux. I have an issue with severe nausea and diarrhea, along with bloating. My lab work clearly showed infection and or inflammation so why would she refuse to give me meds that might actually give me relief and instead give me meds for an issue I don't currently have? Not to mention she showed no concern for the issues I am having. And to tell me to just deal with until I CAN see the gastro dr in late March? 3 months from now? Ridiculous. Worst PA I've ever seen. I'll be going to a different hospital tomorrow. read more

I'm here once again lol. I must say my left knee replacement was a success. I didn't have any issues staying in the hospital for 2 days besides the swelling in my leg. Everyone was great. The staff stayed on top of things and my recovery time here for those couple of days was good. Physical therapy, anesthesiologists team and the nurses all made sure we worked together for a successful stay and recovery time. They kept me informed and updated on my care, meds and any changes. Today I'm here to get these pestkie staples out I think they are the worse lol... I a lil worried because there are a lot of them and looks like it's going to hurt .. I'm going to need McAlester's sweet tea with lemon after this appointment to feel better... read more

Had cataract surgery done here, and I can see! Both times, as separate procedures, the office staff was good, the nursing staff and doctors were wonderful. The procedures went quickly, and well. Staff and doctors made sure I was well informed, and very well taken care of too. My adult daughter was here for 2 weeks on the Telemetry floor in tower 2. We met several doctors, many nurses, and other healthcare professionals during that time. I am so thankful for these wonderful individuals that were brought across our path. They took time to listen and addressed all our concerns. The nurses were empathetic and very helpful. My wife and came to JPS on September 4/2024 she had to have a MRI done on her leg.The Nurse returned her to the hospital hallway RDH .As the nurse was parking the hospital bed it hit my right knee. I have a lot of swelling .My wife right arm was swelling big because of the way they put the Medicine in. The doctor tried to smooth things over and push it under the cover. I had to go to the Dr they did X-rays at JPS clinic I was given Medicine for the swelling. They Dr. I seen was very caring and I must go to therapy. Review 06/13/23: Review for J.P.S. hospital: I didn't voluntarily want to come to J.P.S. hospital. I was told by paramedics in past, that this hospital had specialized in treating M.S. patients, I received the first couple brain scans, that medical doctors, that showed lesions on brain MRI's, that coincided with my own prognosis, after watching a documentary on late president F.D.R. , I discovered I had similar problems to what was M.S. at time, I didn't understand what the disease was. After my first consultation that I had to pay for out of pocket. My self diagnosis, gave me a medical direction to steer in for the problem. Being a patient here at J.P.S. , the overall experience that I received from the staff has been argumentative, disrespectful to me. The staff, has absolutely no education on what M.S. is, or what is involved in a M.S. diet, but don't understand the M.S. trigger for foods, that make the symptoms and disease worse. I've been deprived of my daily vitamins at this hospital, like they're trying to force my M.S. disease into remission here. Had I found the right lawyer, I sue this hospital for negligence of staff members who argue with me. Even had a staff member argue with me that I wasn't disabled. read more

Please do your research and get a second opinion on ANY prescriptions you are given from Mrs. Sarah Slabaugh ( Psychiatrist) in the JPS Health Network Trinity Springs Pavilion. About a year ago I was having a particularly stressful time in my life. I am a single mom and was facing financial and relationship problems, going through hardship in life. At first I was having a hard time sleeping correctly, and then it got worse and my family began to get worried. It came to a point where I also wasn't able to eat right, so my sister and I went to JPS to get help. Although I had not eaten in over 2 days, I was there for 12 hours and they only gave me crackers. My sister was losing her patience with the nurses and staff and told them she could go pick me up food, but they said it was not allowed at all. They drew my blood, ran a lot of tests and gave me some medications.Then they released me that same day around 3 am, and gave me 3 new prescriptions to take. Within 10 hours of being released my behavior was changing drastically the next day around 1pm . I began to exhibit violent and aggressive behavior and arguing with family. The anxiety medication they gave me had serious side effects and JPS did not keep me long enough to monitor me and make sure I didn't have an adverse reaction to the medications. Things got much worse and I ended up going back to JPS Hospital the very next day. The second time I was there they took more blood, ran more tests and had me speak with multiple nurses. Each person would ask me the same questions over and over. They would ask if I was thinking to harm myself or others, and each time I would say no. After they had medicated me again, a bit later another nurse came in and asked me if I had EVER thought about harming myself or others, and I said yes. Everyone has at some point of their life, regardless of who they are. This doesn't make me sick, it makes me human. After that, the nurses concluded I was suicidal and they said I would stay hospitalized for a few days. I was discharged and was given a total of 6 different prescriptions by Mrs. Sarah Slabaugh, who I have since researched and noticed she is very new to the medical field. I was somehow diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder as well as Alcohol addiction, neither which feel like the correct diagnosis. I was having challenges eating correctly, so I should have been diagnosed with some type of eating disorder. I have never been addicted to any type of drug or alcohol in my life, and have no other history of this type of behavior in the past. While it is true I was experiencing anxiety and overwhelm initially, an isolated incident is not enough evidence to be given those diagnostics and prescriptions. After going home I decided to stop taking ALL the medications and instead got assistance from my family to stay on a healthy eating schedule. I began to feel like myself again, and to recover and regain my strength. JPS would call me to say that I can pick up my prescriptions for free at any time and that I needed to keep taking the medications otherwise I would get sick again. They gave me phone numbers and clinics to call for ongoing meetings and counseling, none of which I was interested in, nor felt like I needed. I believe I was not the only person who was diagnosed correctly. There were other women there who had shared some traumatic experiences they had had in the past and they were diagnosed as bipolar or zichrophenic. Having traumatic experiences and recurring nightmares about those experiences does not mean you are mentally ill, it means that you need to heal and process that experience. Also one of my friends who was released shortly after I was, was given no medications at all. She had told me she was there for trying to commit suicide, and was NOT given any type of medication when she went home. I thought that was very odd, the people who really NEED medication, aren't receiving it, and those who don't need it, are. JPS was not trying to help me, they gave me a medicine that I had an allergic reaction to and it caused me to go back, then they used that as an excuse to keep me there against my will. They diagnosed me incorrectly and prescribed me medications that I did not need. Also since they are Government funded, It seems like their main goal is to make your stay there as expensive as possible, not to really cure you and help you feel better. It has been almost a full year and I have not taken any of their prescriptions and my life is back to normal. I still have a $20,000+ medical bill from JPS, and have called many lawyers for help and nobody will touch JPS because they are government funded. They are untouchable and give people prescriptions they don't need, that they could have allergic reactions to without monitoring them, as well as incorrectly diagnose people. My primary care Nurse Practitioner had me consult with a JPS cardiologist, who thought I was seeking surgery clearance. They are a complete and utter joke. I would never suggest anyone go to JPS Hospital, or anything OUTPATIENT that they have either, unless you just absolutely do not have ANY other choice. They treat patients very badly, especially mental health issue patients; they often end up labeling people who aren't suicidal, suicidal - just to get them out of the ER & into a new area of the hospital so they don't have to deal with some of the patients needing help, among other problems. They also will commit you without your consent or permission, saying you're a "threat to those around you" or "a threat to yourself" which is literally just a nice way of them saying "we're about to imprison you -- get ready boo!" -- NEVER go here for a mental health evaluation. Not ever. The Mental Health Department here is ran by some "super Christian" woman who is anti- EVERYTHING except detox. She literally wouldn't even write a script for SERTRALINE, which was all that my friend needed...& then when he finally WENT OFF on her, she tried to have him committed and that's when he spit in her face & then she attempted to make a scene herself...by having the police escort him upstairs, to the mental ward, & he flat out told them if they didn't stop touching him he would sue every single person involved -- he was legit seething angry too, so I think they were like, oh shit he's not kidding...the police then sat my friend down & asked what happened, he explained, they said "yeah she is not a good person when it comes to getting help. Try another hospital." -- they then let us leave, and didn't commit anyone, THANK GOD, but JPS is just like that hospital in Arkansas that had old dude keeping the beds full, but never checked in on anyone...& that's legit being duplicated here at JPS Hospital. On August 30, 2023 I had eye surgery at one of the JPS branch locations in Arlington. First of all the staff that prep me for the surgery was outgoing and very friendly in their communication pertaining to any concerned questions that I had. And then Dr. Hogan showed up! I meet her prior to my surgery at the main street address. Man! I must say she did an outstanding job with her assistant and I stayed woke the whole time and I just listened and took mental notes on the procedure. That was some good data to learn from. There may come a time when Dr. Hogan will leave JPS and start her own practice but I know based upon my experience that JPS will lose a great Ophthalmologist. read more

(May 2019) Worst hospital I've ever been to , waited four hours to be seen for a 5 minute talk then waited an additional 2 hours just to get discharged . I went through ER at 2am didn't get released until after 7:30 ! Once I was in the back I realized their ER rooms were actually filled they had ill people laying in beds in the hallways ! The staff wasn't helpful at all or organized I got Atleast 3 people ask me the same questions back to back , I literally watched majority of the staff just stand around talking , no one knew the answers to any of the questions I'd ask . They'd pretend to go check in on it but then never return to me . If I could rate this hospital in a negative I definitely would ! This place is awful and all they care about is a paycheck, not the people in need of help! Ridiculous!
