Own 3 vehicles and have always gone to the same smog shop in Simi for the past 20 years. I was happy with them, but a neighbor said I should try Jr's Test Only Smog Shop on LA Ave by Ralph's at the 76 gas station. All I can say is WOW... so friendly, accommodating, fast, and so much less expensive than what I was paying all these years. I just always thought a smog was a smog and didn't realize everybody charges differently. And they are a Star Certified station! Check them out on Yelp first; they have such a great rating. Came here on a weekday at 9am, I was the first person so they got to my car right away. The owner was amazing, worked on my car immediately. Currently sitting inside while I wait for the mechanic to change my motor mount after my car passed the smog test. As I normally do when I need service for anything, I trust Yelp when places are recommended and happens to have high ratings. I came in here specifically for a smog. As the test was going on, the mechanic asked me to mosey over because he wanted to show me something. He said the motor mount needed to be replaced. I didn't at all think he was being shady because after he said that, he explained why it had to be replaced. My car has in fact been hesitating when I accelerate which is what he said was the cause. So here I am smog done, now waiting for the part to get here. I told the mechanic that Firestone told me I needed go get my motor replaced and he chuckled. I just knew I was given the wrong info at Firestone. Another mechanic at the shop where I got my brakes fixed also confirmed that the motor was fine. Looks like I just found my new mechanic. This place is conveniently located right next door to 76. Thanks to the two guys working for their honesty. They also honored the smog coupon that's posted on Yelp so I was able to save a little bit. read more

I called JR Smog Center to make sure they were open today (West Valley was closed, with no notice up when I drove over there), and was told they were, no appointment needed. Randomly went to this place as I was getting gas at the 76. I needed to get my scion FRS smogged. The first place I went to yesterday couldn't do it because they said their computer couldn't connect to my ecu and that there might be something wrong with my car. Thank goodness I went here. The owner said my fused for the OBD reader is blown that's why the other place couldn't connect because it didn't have power to power on. He was so nice at explaining all my questions! read more

Hands my best Smog check experience ever. I went online to search for a STAR rated smog check place in Simi because of the DMV requirement that I could only go to a STAR rated station this year. I found JR's Test Only Smog Check and called to see if they were busy. The person on the phone said that they had one person there doing a smog, but should be done in 10 minutes. So I drove over and by the time I got there he was free. I parked in front and gave him my DMV papers. Filled out a quick form with my name and address after giving him a coupon from my phone. In what seemed like less than 15 minutes later, everything was done and paid for for. I drove off and it was simple as that. (The location was convenient too; on the corner of Sycamore and Los Angeles.) The person there was very friendly and nice. When I presented the coupon he had no problem with it. Just a smile on his face and gave me the form where he wrote down the price and had me sign. While talking for a bit I found out that, while his shop is relatively new, he has been doing smog checks for a long time. If you are ever in need of a smog check and looking for a place to go without stress and a good experience, give this place a call. Again, it was the best experience I ever had at a smog check station and will probably be yours as well. read more

I have a large diesel truck and when I called Jr, they stayed open a little later to accommodate me. They were so kind and respectful. They let me just scoot over into the passenger seat as the smog check work got done. I work as a contractor and with a lot of subs so as a female in the trade, I judge based on character and service. I was beyond pleased at how well I was treated and how quickly my vehicle was serviced. I recommend this location 100%.
