JS Air (HVAC): 12 January 2023 In the cold of winter, our HVAC called it quits. I contacted the Home Warranty company and they scheduled a local company to come out. This was the same company we had scheduled (also through Home Warranty) nearly one and a half years ago. Back then, I was disappointed with the serviceman that came out. The atmosphere is totally different on this date. Tyler was professional and seemed honest. At first, he thought we had to change the entire unit out, which was going to cost around $12,000. He left after 45-minutes but returned with different parts to test the unit. It took over four hours, and with the guidance of his 'boss', Jason, Tyler got our HVAC fixed. It makes a cranky noise upon starting up, but at least we have heat. This young lad deserves a 5 for not giving up. Thank you, Tyler. He looked at it from top to bottom. Spent quality time in our attic and accessing our roof top unit. After a brief huddle with Jason, they recommend a change in ducting. We agreed to allow them to proceed. The work was done in a timely manner and completely solved our problem. We now have perfectly balanced climate control in our home. I will add that I consulted two other very well-known companies who gave me the roundabout, and tried to upsell me into expensive repairs and replacements. Those repairs were clearly not necessary. Been calling both companies and AHS has been trying to get the paperwork but the company won't respond. Well I sent a message to the owner to find out what was going on. Wow just wow. Then the first time we turn on the heater it doesnt work. It has been 2 MONTH and they still have not fixed it. They love to blame covid and the "liberal government" for their issues but in reality they ordered the wrong part. We received fantastic service from Andy at JS Air. It was easy and fast to book an appointment through our home warranty company and Andy came out promptly. He identified the issue, which had to do with wiring and our old thermostat. He replaced the thermostat and fixed the wiring, and our AC has been working faithfully now for several months. I just read some of the comments here and wanted to share another point of view. We just had our first triple digit days of the year and while my AC thermostat was set at 74*, the house never fell below 83*. I put in a work order with the home warranty company who assigned JS Air. Shannon called yesterday to set up an appointment between 11 and 3. I mentioned that I had a doctors appointment in Oakhurst at 9 and another in Fresno at 2 and might not be home. She asked if it was ok, should I not be home, for the tech to go onto my roof. Of course. I returned at 10:30 from Oakhurst to a cool house. Not only did they come early, but found a Freon leak, patched it and recharged the system. We were referred to JS Air Inc. through our home warranty company after being scheduled through another company. The first company could not access our a/c unit since it was located on the second story roof. After getting the information for JS Air, I immediately called Shannon and explained our situation. She was able to schedule (without me asking) for the next day with her technician Andy and advised me that he would be arriving at our home at approx. 6:30 - 7:00 am. He arrived at 6:45 am and asked me several questions about the problems that we had with the a/c unit. He later told me that he does this in order to get a better idea of what may be causing the current problem. Andy then goes up to the unit and begins his troubleshooting. It was determined that a capacitor had failed. Luckily, he had the part in his van and replaced it. He then checked the fan motor and other parts of the unit. I also authorized him to clean the unit while he was up on the roof. This was an extra cost to me (which was expected) but it saves me from getting up on the second-story roof. Since we have the same units on the house, I inquired from Andy if I could clean the other unit. He explained what I needed to do and did not try and sell his services on the second unit. Since this is a very busy time for HVAC companies, I did not expect such a fast response time. This really impressed me and makes the wife and daughter happy to have cool bedrooms. When the wife and daughter are happy, dad is then happy! I would highly recommend calling JS Air when in need of HVAC service. read more

We have two air conditioning units, first floor, second floor. The upstairs one needed a new thermostat and maintenance. Transformer needed replacing. The downstairs one was working but needed a new thermostat. If you do a search to find out what typically HVAC transformers cost, this is what you get: "Cost to Replace a Furnace Transformer: Replacing a transformer in a furnace costs $100 to $175. The part alone only runs $20 to $40 with labor making up the rest". I was told my transformer cost $400 "and we happen to have one on the truck" Yeh right! I received an invoice for $1000. Not something like $994, nor $1008, no, just a "nice round even" $1,000. Can it get worse? YES. The downstairs unit stopped working. Over a subsequent six day period I left five voice messages, and I sent three emails. Their phone message, "This is JS Air. We are with customers right now and will call you right back". There was no response whatsoever from them. No call back, no response to email. I guess I made the mistake of leaving messages saying what had happened. Can it get even worse still? YES! I had to pay for another HVAC company to come out, then subsequently found that JS Air had wired the downstairs thermostat incorrectly! I should have been suspicious because the JS Air "technician" spent most of the time on the phone back and forwards with his boss asking what to do! They are a rip off with their pricing, it is almost certainly true that they can only handle the most basic jobs (in which case they may have been able to achieve some ok reviews), and finally, they will not come back again to fix what wasn't done right. read more

I was forced into using JS Air due to a contract with my insurance. I can honestly say the guy that installed my new unit was amazing and was a pleasure to work with for the time he was in my house. The negative portion of my review is for the the women working in the front office. They are your primary contact when you call the company or have any issues. We were without air conditioning in FRESNO in June for over 4 weeks because JS Air did not know how to correctly order our unit. The unit kept getting delayed and we were assured that the day the unit arrived, it would be installed. This was also a lie. Dont call them they are very shady and dishonest! first chance they get they will rip you off! no joke. I had them come over to take a look at my air conditioner because it was not cooling. They charged me almost $800. Said that the fan motor and capacitor were bad and they replaced them. I had same problem later so I called different contractor to look at my unit. They came out and showed me that they only changed out the capacitor! the second contractor said it was the original motor and i looked at it, sure enough it looked just as old as my unit.... I thought wow how dishonest is that. How could someone do that? I called and demanded to speak to the owner. The lady that answered the phone was reluctant to let me talk to the owner (Jason Smith). When I finally got to talk to him, I explained. "Why did you charge me for a motor that you did not install?" I asked, then he rudely called me a liar. I explained that I had another contractor come out and take a look at my unit and they showed me the old motor and new capacitor, and the contractor confirmed to me that no new motor was installed. He started back pedaling, I said if you refund me the motor I will not complain. He said I was "full of Sh*t" so at that point I realized that this must be normal for them. I would like to add that I was ultimately professional with the way I was talking and he lowered the level down and became rude and vulgar. So, I got ripped off. No refund was offered. Two technicians arrived at our door and we invited them to come in. I was told by Jason the lead technician and owner of JS Air that they are not going to enter our house. I said, okay, how are you going to fix our problem? We have a tri-zone system that has a damper failure on the main zone and this needs to be done in the attic and the access is in the house? I advised that we called this and exact repair through our home warranty and advised the dispatcher of the same when we scheduled the appointment. The lead technician rudely told me that the home warranty company lied to me and that they do not cover this type of work. Our home warrant specifically notes that dampers damper controls are covered. He also advised me that they did not even have the parts on the truck to complete the job. He further explained to me that it was 140 degrees in the attic and he did not want to go up there, but if they could somehow get approval from the home warranty company for four house labor they would attempt to do the job. He said they would me a call. I assumed the we going to call and advise. The next thing I know, they are in the truck pulling out of the driver way. I am clapping my hands to stop the them and the lead technician mocks me by clapping his hands back at me as he stops. I asked him where he was going? He proceeded to berate me and tell me to listen and calm down and capisce and was simply unprofessional. I am a small business owner and as such, I would be ashamed to have this technician represent my company. The simple fact of the matter is that I was just trying to find out why he was leaving. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED In the customer service and the technicians knowledge of his job. The technician sent to my house had to call the boss and describe the wiring to him in order to know what to do. After he replaced two little things he turned it on and it still didn't work. He said out loud "FUCK! This is a nightmare, my day was going great until now". He called his boss who told him to tell me they can rebuild the motor for 6/5.00 or I could just get a whole new unit for 4,200. Of course I opted for the rebuilt motor. Which turned out to be a new motor they had to send for but NO ONE ever called me to tell me that. They just let me think the guy was still going to show up at my house at anytime. I finally had to call them and that's when the receptionist/owners wife told me that they couldn't rebuild it they had to send for a new one. I waited FOUR LONG HOT DAYS to get it. Of course I'm happy to pay whatever it took to be cool again. The technician installed it and left said it was great. It wasn't. Now the unit wouldn't stop running inside the house even though it was off on the outside. I left them nasty messages and said I wanted TGE owner of the company to come out this time and I told the receptionist what time I was available. She texted me at work and said they were on their way to my house now. I had no way of leaving work but was so desperate to have cool air that I left instructions of where my house key was and how to deal with the dog. The unit was on when I got home but the house wasn't all that cool so I called AGAIN. Shannon the receptionist told me I had to let the unit run through the entire night and if it didn't turn off on its own then call again. It did finally start going off and on but it was not getting as cool as it had before. Today I just had another company come out. They were soooooo angry at what they saw. Js air technician had pinched wires and TGE wrong motor blades and had let out some freon which would have eventually froze up my whole system forcing me to need a whole new unit. ALSO I was informed that a new should have only cost half that amount. I truly believe that they intentionally sabotaged my system because they were so angry with how many times I made them come out. I called Shannon today and told her everything I wrote here. They did or said NOTHING to make good on their business with me. The other company that came out told me I should have read allllllllll the bad reviews on js air before I called them. So I thought I would leave one as well. GUESS WHAT! I've tried to use this company twice over the past 18 months. The first time they failed to show during the four hour window, thus I cancelled the service. The second time, I asked they conduct general maintenance on my a/c and furnace, and verified twice with their corporate office they could indeed do both at the same time. I travel a lot for work and finding time to get this type of thing done is difficult. When the tech did not show or call within the allotted window, I called the main office, who had to call me back to figure out where the tech was. I received a call back ten minutes later indicating the tech would be there in about 1/2 hour, which was thirty minutes outside the allotted time. Once the tech arrived, who was very nice, he indicated they do not conduct both an a/c check and furnace check during the same visit as these checks are sensitive to outside temperatures, meaning if its too cold outside, they cannot receive accurate a/c readings. After I told him that I was assured by his corporate office this indeed could be done, I called the main line again. The person that had initially told me both readings could be done at the same time was not available, but that the on-sight tech was indeed correct, both services could not be done at the same time. Hence, I wasted five hours of my day, taking off work, and the service was again not completed. My advice, based either on inadequate scheduling instructions or the lack of operating procedure knowledge at the corporate level, is to avoid using this organization. read more

****BUYER BE WARE***** So WOW, I was forced to use JS Air also through home warranty company. The initial service contact was positive. I believe it was Shannon, my forced air unit was leaking water from the pan when it ran for a while in summer. Not just a little water but a substantial amount! But Shannon quickly gave a diagnosis quickly and correct! The condensate tube was broken and dumping water on my hardwood floors and down into to furnace control cabinet across the blower into my intake air ducting. None of that was JS's fault. It did take 2 weeks to get the new cooling coil unit. You thank I'm not going to run my ac for that two week period! Of course I did! So when to techs came to demo the old and install the new I ask for them to completely remove the unit so i could clean the ducts and dry the wood floors. They did that for me at a additional cost of 350$. I didn't trip though because I made sure it was installed right. Sucking out 20 gal's of water out of the ducting and drying the wood floors, I did my self! The techs reinstalled to cooling coil's and re-piped my condensate and exhaust, then turned my as on and it worked fine! That was in early August. Fast forward to December I go to turn my heater on and it starts to cycle on then turns off! I then do an new work order through my home warranty company, they initially want to send some one else out but I demand JS comes because of they were the last one to work on it. Shannon was not the tech they sent this time. I could not be their so he dealt with my wife. The so called AC tech couldn't really figure out what was up and had to call Shannon who then decided the furnace needed to be replaced. It worked fine the last 2 years I've owned the property and the unit its not even ten years old! NOT ONCE DID IT CROSS THE TECH'S MIND OR SHANNON'S THAT MAYBE THEY DID SOMETHING WRONG WHEN THEIR OTHER TECH'S REINSTALLED NOT 4 MONTHS AGO!! I felt it should be a warranty issue. SO THEY SEND IN THEIR OPINION WITH COST to the warranty company, 600$ in parts covered under the home warranty and 1000$ NOT COVERED UNDER THE HOME WARRANTY!!! Well as you can imagine I was PISSED! I demanded another company come out. When the other company comes out I'm their to give brief info on what work was preformed. So the Company was able to figure out in LESS THEN AN HOUR, when the original tech's JS sent out reinstalled the unit the reversed the polarity of the wire feeding the unit. Apparently the unit is polarity sensitive and will not fully start up if reversed, AT NO ADDITIONAL COST!! SO JUST WOW JS air tried to steal 600$ form the home warranty company, who were eager to pay no questions asked. And STEAL FROM ME 1000$ FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCE!!!!! J.S. Air was sent to repair my A/C unit on a house i was buying. Initial repair was flawed and two more trips did not fix it They will not warranty there work even days after 03/24/14 - A/C was serviced by J.S. air (service tech Mike Whitmore), per Seller's home warranty. A dual cap and 1/6th motor was installed. (MOTOR HAS NEVER WORKED) 04/10/14 - Closed escrow and received keys to house. 04/12/14 - Tested A/C. Motor they installed stalls after 30 minutes of use. 04/14/14 - Called shannon at J.S. air (MONDAY). she says they will send someone out, first thing the next morning. 04/15/14 - No one shows for appointment. 04/16/14 - I call shannon at J.S. air, she schedules me first thing in the morning on the 18th (Friday). I specifically tell her I work afternoons, and she says between 8am-12pm. 04/18/14 - I wait until 2:00pm and leave for work, shannon calls and says her tech is at my house at 3:00pm. She reschedules for the 23rd 8am-12pm 04/23/14 Service tech Brian Bolsta arrives around 10:00am. He states it's only overheating and stalling because its dirty. He hoses out the unit and coils, and says it's good to go now. he checks the freon, says it shouldn't need anymore. (i never received and invoice, no doubt they charged sellers home warranty work order.) 04/26/14 - testing the A/C unit reveals the SAME EXACT problem. motor (they installed) stalls after thirty minutes. 04/30/14 - I call shannon at J.S. air completely exasperated. She explains to me that there's no more money to be had on the previous home warranty work order, it has expired. She says they need me to call my home warranty(pay a $75.00 service fee) and get a new work order number, so they can get paid again. She says even if it was THIER mistake and THEY installed a bad motor, they still need to be paid labor to fix it! They have never heard of warranting their work or business ethics. I just told her to schedule an appointment, not knowing what I would do about the work order. 5/8/14 - Service tech Brian Bolsta arrives at 9:00AM. He states it's still just overheating and stalling due to low freon. He says he added three pounds and now it works fine. The freon is $33.00 a pound, and there is a $85.00 service fee. He demands immediate payment of $185.00 and WILL NOT LEAVE WITHOUT IT. He INTIMIDATES my wife who is home alone so she writes him a check just to get him to leave(check number 0201). 5/09/14 - I turn on the A/C unit, and the motor (they installed) stalls after thirty minutes. 5/13/14 - I place stop payment on check #0201. I call shannon at J.S. air, to complain about my A/C still being broke. She says she will send the owner out(she said that the last two times also but it was never him) on 5/20/14 FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. 5/20/14 - No one from J.S. air shows up for appointment. No one calls. I called several times with no answer, and left messages. No contact to date. They REFUSE to warranty the work they did (or didn't do). They refuse to return my phone calls. I have never dealt with such unprofessional people in my life. Meanwhile its one hundred degrees and I still have a broken A/C unit. sorry for the long review I am SO frustrated and hot. Horrible horrible service!!! They came after waiting for a week, which I understand they are busy in midsummer. They "fixed" the problem ($500.00) and installed new starters well our ac went out again in less than two weeks. I called and In the notes the lady said the technician said he recommended a new AC unit for 3,000. Which never happened!!!!! I felt like she completely disregarded my frustrations, I said you should stand by your work, I want a refund and she refused to give it to us. She said she could send another tech to come out and fix it but why would I have them come out after they didn't fix it correctly the first time... The owner Shannon is rude and short, arguing/yelling at me on the phone... I just said calmly I don't want to argue with you I'm going to hang up now.. We are taking them to small claims court I feel completely ripped off and the owner made things 100% worse!!! I called mountain air and they are great! First spoke with Jill and scheduled a visit for the next day at 9:00am. She told me estimates are free. Andy showed up at 8:25am, he said he was told to be here at 8:00am. I told Andy my mini-split air conditioner has a leak and I told him which fitting it is. I also have a brand new 25lb tank of R410a refrigerant. I should mention I have a universal EPA license which is the highest level license you can get for working on refrigeration systems. Andy quoted $360 to fix the leak and refill the refrigerant. I told him the most I will pay is $200, he called his boss and his boss said no. He told me the normal charge for diagnosing a problem is $80 and I told him I already knew what the problem was and Jill said estimates are free. So I am giving JS Air in Oakhurst, CA. 4 stars because Andy was very nice and I could tell he knew what he is doing I was just to cheap to pay $360 for an hour of work.
