We called Purl for seasonsal HVAC maintenance and to fix one of our two A/C units that did not work. We are familiar with them in having done EXCELLENT inspection and repair of drain pipes in our house (Our prior HVAC service man just retired). We recieved EXCELLENT service, on time and friendly. Christian, the technician, was very well mannered. He was efficient in identifying and explaining the problem, had the replacement part with him (burnt coil) and took care of the problem in one visit. Such a relief. Purl's is one of 2 local companies I contacted to get an estimate. I just want to say THANK YOU Andy! He came out to give me an estimate on what I thought was going to be a very costly replacement of my entire duct work system in my home. And thank goodness I did that, it saved me thousands of dollars. Andy notified me that my duct work DID NOT need to be fully replaced. And that it was in great condition. Another large company from Fresno had just told me the complete opposite last week, recommending a full duct work replacement. That would have cost me thousands of dollars. Disappointed. We had to order a coil, which was supposedly ordered back in September/October of 2023. I'm not exactly sure what happened. Fast forward to 2024, coil still not available, and after yet another inspection, cost went up, and many other "issues" were found. We did get other estimates and went with someone else. Purl's does not apply the initial fee toward the cost of labor/parts like most other ac/heat providers. They tack on the additional repair fee on top of the initial diagnostic fee. They should have gotten approval from us before repairs but failed to do so. Will not use them again. read more

I had a new AC unit put in about 3 months ago. The installers were great and even finished the job a little earlier than expected (I had needed new ducting as well). When the cold weather came around, I noticed an excessive amount of noise when the burner would come on. Part of the problem is that California has new regulations, so new AC units have to be in compliance. Purl's was great about sending people out to try and adjust the unit but the problem persisted. Enter Cristian. Though young, he figured out exactly what was causing the burner startup noise and made the right adjustment. Soooooo thankful for him. Also thankful that Purl's never blew me off. They were determined to try and help me out with this issue. 5 stars-definitely. read more

We had been jerked around by an HVAC place in Coarsegold for a couple months (during the sweltering July/August). We had to move out of our house because it was so hot. I got fed up with the other company and decided to find someone else. My brother happened to have a very positive experience with Purl's a few weeks beforehand so I decided to call them. It was NIGHT AND DAY! For the other place, I had to hound them (calls/emails) to get information and appointments, etc. and we never did get a quote even though they said they would several times. The other place even had the nerve to call us just now after almost 2 months when they said they'd give us the quote! (this is what prompted my review) With Purl's, they sent someone out a day after I called. The tech called me while at the house to explain the problem and give me an estimate to fix, and said they could probably have it fixed by the end of the following week. The office then followed up with scheduling an appointment and verified the quote. I never had to call them to get information. In the end, they came earlier than expected and everything was fixed in less than a week and at the price quoted. They were proactive, fast, and professional. So much the opposite of what I had just experienced. I am very happy that I stumbled upon them. My house is in YLP so it's not super close to Purl's but they serviced it anyway. Highly recommended :) p.s. The fix was a broken/rusted evaporator and rusted out pan in our crawlspace that needed to be completely replaced and hooked up to the separate (working) condenser unit outside (hopefully I got that the right). Very satisfied with my experience with Purl's. Problem was diagnosed and part replaced immediately. Very friendly service.

I wish I could rate them negative stars. My AC went out in April, they came out and said they fixed it. Cost me 1k. A week later the ac goes out again. Repairman came out and said my condenser is going out and may need to be replaced. They filled up my AC with refrigerant and left. A week later the AC goes out again and I tell them to replace the condenser. They replace the condenser and tell me it's fixed. 2 weeks later the ac stops working AGAIN. They come out and tell me they left a filter in and it's blocking the cold air. Another week goes by and it's not working again. They keep giving me solutions to the problem but it doesn't fix it. I've spent almost 4 thousand dollars and I still don't have cold air. read more

Horrible experience! Arrived on time, everything looked ok, the technician didn't say anything which is ok. We realized after he left that we couldn't turn our heater off. At all. We called and told them something was wrong and to please send the technician back. The lady on the phone said everyone had gone home for the day and maybe someone could come out tomorrow. She said we should just turn off the power to the house or just let the heater run! Are you kidding!!! We told her NO and to get someone out here tonight! Holy cow! It was a debate! Finally sent a really nice guy out and he said the other technician had made a mistake and left something turned on. He totally apologized but we'd never trust Purl's again. You failed not at the mistake but by not taking responsibility and immediately offering to fix your error! We made sure everyone in our NextDoor area knew about our experience since this was how we were referred. read more

Called for an A/C replacement quote. Promptly arrived at agreed time early Monday morning. The affable estimator was easy to talk to, and didn't speak down to me. Seemed very knowledgable. Basically it became the benchmark for subsequent estimates. Competitive quote. Ultimately when choosing a contractor to replace your A/C, it comes down to price and trust. Purl's had a reasonable price (I found you could do a lot worse), and while we finally went with another company, Purl's would've had my total trust to do the job right. read more

The air conditioner went out on Thursday. Purl's came out on Friday and determined the blower motor needed replacing. They had to order the part and called us Monday to say it was in. Came out at 6:00 at night to install it. All of this during the first heat wave of the summer. Todd, the technician, answered all of our questions and was very efficient in the troubleshooting and replacement of the motor. I am impressed with this company's customer service.
