This place sucks. I walk into this place for a haircut...no one waiting in line and ask if I can get a haircut...the kid doesn't even take his face out of his phone to tell me "we only have One barber...appointments only". Didn't argue...just walked out. It's cool. I made my appointment somewhere else...didn't want to find out about your bush league barber skills after witnessing your horrible customer service. Last week I made an online appointment for a haircut at J's Barber shop inside Meijer in Merrillville. The appointment was confirmed by the barbershop. I arrived there 25 minutes before the appointment and sat in the waiting room until my appointment time. At my appointment time, the barber that I had made the appointment for and who had confirmed the appointment, actually took another person in the waiting room instead of me. He gave a flimsy excuse about trying to get in contact with me to explain but I found no evidence of that being true. He also said that he was busy later so he couldn't cut my hair after he finished the guy that he had taken in place of me, in my appointed time slot. I wound up just leaving the shop and you can bet your backside, I won't be back! So if you're fond of wasting time, money and being pissed off that you and your confirmed appointment time are being ignored because the barber has double or triple booked his appointments, rush to J's Barber shop. I've had my hair cut just about everywhere, ranging from my grams kitchen table to ultra-luxe salons. Tried the corner barber shop that's been there for 35 years, the cheap chain places and the sporty ones that take you to the dark room for some false naughtiness. At the end of the day, the only worthwhile experience is spending the next month feeling like I can wear rags and people will only notice how good my hair looks. Vain?? Test out the opposite scenario! I bring a $20 bill here and point to one of a hundred different hairstyle headshots and my boy Christian does the rest. My favorite is the Cutler, however there's one for everyone. They even have plenty of girls styles...but don't you ladies already have enough places of your own? Anyways, being tucked into the front end of Meijer makes a lot of sense to me. I can safely park my car away from door dings or shop for dry goods if there's a wait. I went to Meijer's for a hair cut yesterday, 8/18/16. I've been there twice before and as far as hair cuts go, it was not too bad. The price is cool, $10.00. Problem is, while I was there a senior citizen walked in to see how much a cut would cost and if there was a "Senior citizens" day. The barbers told him that on Friday it would be $8.00 for seniors, the man asked for a card and left. Once the old man left, (I'm 70 myself) the young barbers, if you want to call them barbers, started talking bad about the old man. Then they started downgrading other customers, you know the "One with the three kids that look like they all have different fathers" or the one "With the big ears", etc., etc., etc. I didn't say anything till I was paying my bill, then I told them. I said, you know you shouldn't be talking smack about your customers when you have customers in the seats in front of you. How do you think we are feeling? Don't you think we might be thinking that you'll be talking about us when we leave? Don't you realize "WE" the customers are the one's who put loot in your pockets in order to pay your bill's, buy things you need, Yes you work for the money, but you should be more professional. At one time, we could go into a barber shop and be treated with respect. I realize that maybe my other barbers may have talked about me or other customers, but I never heard them talk about other customers in front of me. Also, I asked the young man who cut my hair to take "A little off the sides, I don't want to see the side of my scalp through my hair". I look like I just got a buzz job on my head. Not very happy. I usually go to a regular barber who cuts me clean that's does a great job but he was busy today and so I decided to give Mijers barbershop a try so I went there told the man with the glasses I wanna low fade with a line up. He gives me a high fade doesn't like up my hair right my head looks like shit it doesn't even look like a got a haircut I told them to do my eyebrows to and he forgot but I didn't say anything because I didn't want my eyebrows messed up to I will never come back to this place I gave the man a twenty because of he does anyone else's hair like this he going to need that extra 5 this man was cheeks literally the worst haircut I ever got read more

Very inconsistent, and it depends on the barber. Some barbers take their time, and will make your hair exactly how you want it and make you feel good and look god. Others practically throw the clippers at you, make your hair a mess, and make you feel uncomfortable with your hair. Recently got a haircut, and there's a part in the back and on the side that is very messed up that can't be fixed, but i'm not able to buzz it because i look silly. So because of the lazy barber I'm stuck with a haircut that i don't enjoy, my friends don't enjoy, and i'm unable to fix it.
