Mario and the team were awesome from start to finish. They didn't great job communicating with us throughout the whole process and the price was extremely reasonable! There were a couple of small things here and there that they patched up as part of the job but didn't specifically charge us for. They were great to work with. Jobs done: - Ceiling refinish and paint - Bedroom Paint and new baseboards - Quarter round baseboards - Window frame finish The ONLY thing I would mention is to leave enough room for cleanup. I honestly don't know what happened with this contractor. I had him out to view my unfinished basement to submit a bid to renovate it into an in-law. He was perfectly pleasant and seemed professional. He said he was going to submit a bid. (This was a $100,000+ project.) A week later, when I checked to see when he would be submitting his bid, he said he had already emailed me the bid. I had not received it, and told him so. He said he would resend it. Then he ghosted me! I tried twice more to text him, asking what had happened, and I got no response. He was a nice guy, but I pity the person who hires him and then gets ghosted halfway through a project. read more

Good work, bad communication and bad adherence to agreed upon timelines. There were many days they said they would be there at a time and didn't come or were very late. Some days they said they would be there and ghosted us completely. Ended up getting the work done but very frustrating and took way longer than expected. Price was fair. Middle of the road on the quotes we got. End product is great. Additional information- very unprofessional communication. Multiple times when we called him out on his poor communication he got mad and was very aggressive. When I refused to pay the job until I saw the work (2 hours after completion of the job when I got home from work) he became irate and was very unprofessional. Upon posting the review above which is an accurate description of my experience, he sent me and my family a nasty text. Will not rehire. read more

My house was built in the early 80s. The builders had used drywall for the stair railings in the entryway closing in the stairs and cutting out light. I wanted to remove the dry wall railings and replace them with railings made from wood and steel to open up the space. I contacted JST Remodeling after seeing photos of work they've completed on other stair railing projects on Yelp. Mario from JST Remodeling got back to be within a few minutes of receiving my email request for a consultation. We set a time for him to come out and see the project and he came out on time on the planned date. Mario sent me a quote shortly after the visit and did well to respond to my questions. My wife and I decided to move forward with the work. The work commenced on schedule. The team on my job was Mario, his partner Joanna, and his dad. They planned the job to accommodate my family's needs. We were living in the house, so they were mindful of start and end times each day, isolating the work area from other areas in the house (to minimize dust/clean-up), and sequenced the work, so the stairs were safe for us to use overnight and over a weekend. I requested a specific design that Mario hadn't done before... a design that was more complex and and required adjustments to materials Mario had used in the past for this type of project. Mario worked with my ask and made it happen. The project finished a couple of days behind the original plan... accommodating a specific design request from me and a two day stoppage for a sickness for one for the members on the JST team. The final work product is great. I've included a one before and a few after photos. Mario and his team have significantly improved my entryway over a short 5 work day window. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience with JST Remodeling - superb communication (on status, start and end times, etc.), doing well to accommodate my family's requirements through the job, good work planning, and ultimately great results. I had some water damage in a subfloor panel and asked around for a contractor to help remedy. Mario from JST responded quickly and was also available quickly to come and do an estimate. During the estimate we discussed the issue and agreed on the remedy. He returned a proposal very quickly that was on budget. I was able to book him for the estimate and have him do the repairs within the same week. He was extremely polite, professional, and easy to work with. The fix looks good and solid. Mario and his team did an amazing job. I was looking for someone to execute a soundproofing project to reduce impact noise. It's a complex and difficult task, and a lot can go wrong if you don't know exactly what you're doing. I interviewed at least 15 contractors before I found Mario. This review is long overdue as I always have this mentality to move on to the next thing on my to-do list on my rental properties. However, I felt I owe it to JST Remodeling given that I had 4 large projects with them over two years. My initial contact with Mario was back in July 2021 when I requested estimates to replace the cabinets and countertops in two kitchens in one of my rental houses in a period of one week for a tenant changeover. The price was surprisingly affordable so I decided to go with JST. Initially I wasn't sure whether they could finish the job on time given that it was a lot of work even though these were smaller kitchens. Sure enough, the work was not completed on time but it was due to a family emergency; I did wish there would have been better communication about what was going on, but, looking back now, I can see how family takes priority over work. The work was eventually completed about half a week later but the new tenants were very happy it was completed nonetheless. In one of my other rental properties, the two kitchens and two bathrooms just looked so outdated with cabinets falling apart and countertops looking really worn. I decided to try JST again and got an estimate in Sep 2021 to upgrade the kitchens and bathrooms. I found the pricing a bit higher this time but Mario explained that the cost of construction materials had risen quite a bit because of supply issues. This time, because the house would be unoccupied for several months, there was not the same kind of pressure that JST experienced with the first project, so everything went a lot smoother including the communication. Mario kept me updated on the status and expected timelines when certain parts of the project would be completed. Lastly, earlier this summer in June, I had another project for JST to upgrade two small bathrooms in another rental house. The pricing was reasonable given the inflationary state at this time. Both bathrooms were quite narrow and so they were converted from tub to shower and outdated tiling was replaced. The work occurred one bathroom at a time as tenants were still living in the house at the time. The tenants were very pleased with the updated bathrooms and appreciated the quality work. All in all, my experience with JST Remodeling was very positive as evidenced by returning to them for another project. I look forward to working with them on future projects. read more
