While he was here he also pointed out some work that my trailer needed. He told us how to do it ourselves. He also told us where to find parts for something that we needed to fix. We were having a really hard time finding the source for the parts. We're definitely going to call him when we've got something we can't tackle ourselves.

I was interested in purchasing parts from vehicles before he ran them across the scale. No cores, no cats, no wheels, no wiring, nothing heavy. I wasn't looking to take any of the items your usual scrappers make their money from. I was after interior parts, electrical, computers, headlights, trim pieces. Fairly small, lightweight items. We spoke for a while and I suggested a couple of ways to calculate the value of the parts I would purchase: either by weight or percentage of what I intended to sell them at. Whichever way we went, he would be making much more selling them to me than they brought at the scales. Well, he didn't like the idea because he felt that I would be "making more money" than he was and it wasn't fair. Dude walked away from consistent additional income because he thought a 50/50 split would be fair when all he had to do was pick up the phone and make a call when he had vehicles about to go to the scales. Meanwhile I would be: researching, testing, removing, cleaning, photographing, listing, storing, packing and shipping the parts that I purchased from him. As well as paying for shipping, ebay/PayPal fees. You think he was going to be paying taxes on the cash I handed him? I paid taxes from the income of all the parts I've ever sold. 50% my ass. That's not a sustainable business model. Now all these years later, I stumble across his yelp listing and see that it specifies they do not sell parts. I wonder if he ever found a mutually-beneficial arrangement with someone to sell parts to or if he's still walking away from free money just because he doesn't like the idea of someone else making a buck doing something he can't do for himself. Doug buys junk cars. Still.

I bought a used alternator for $45 a few days ago from Brinckman's. First of all, the owner has a…read morevery bad attitude. He was very reluctant to answer my questions; he acted as if waiting on me was inconveniencing him. Before I paid for the alternator I specifically asked him if they test them before they sell them. He replied, "Yes." So, trusting him, I bought it. After putting it on my car and finding out that it did not work, I took it to Auto Zone to have it tested. They said that it did not work. I called Brinckman's and told him about the alternator not working. He said to bring it in and he would test it, and if it didn't work he would replace it. I brought it in to him and he tested it and said that it did not work. Then he went back to the testing machine and "grounded it" and showed me that it did work, he just forgot to ground it before he tested it he said. He also said that Auto Zone does not know how to ground my kind of alternator. I called Auto Zone. Their reply: "Their testing machine automatically grounds when it tests." So once again trusting Brinckman's, I put the alternator back on my car and it still does not work. I went into Brinckman's today to tell him about it and get a replacement (like he promised). He said, "Auto Zone does not understand how an alternator works. I'm not going to compare apples to oranges and I'm not going to dispute this any further." My reply, "So basically there is nothing you can do for me?" Brinckman's, "I can credit the $45 from this alternator to a new one" (which he says is $145 and I price checked around and they are $94.) His reply to my saying I price checked and they were not that much: "Mine are lifetime warrantied." I said, "So are the ones I price checked." He said, "Well mine are not." So, basically the owner of Brinckman's promised me a working alternator, wether it was the original one I purchased or a replacement one and is now saying there is nothing he can do for me unless I purchase a brand new one from him. I will never shop here again. The owner's attitude is horrible and his word is cannot be trusted.
