After the service was completed, I observed debris remaining in multiple sections of the gutter system and took photographs documenting my concerns. Based on what I observed, I did not believe the entire gutter system had been fully cleaned as described in the scope of work. I contacted the company on the day of the service and requested a follow-up visit. Although a return visit was discussed, it ultimately never took place, and my concerns regarding the completeness of the cleaning were never fully addressed. Because of this, I did not feel the work fully matched my expectations for a complete gutter cleaning. To be fair, ASF did perform significant work, including gutter repairs and cleaning in other areas, and the company ultimately worked with me to reach a mutually agreed resolution of the matter. Future customers may wish to inspect the gutters carefully after service and document any concerns promptly.

I've been using Steve for over twenty years, he's local and an expert and does high quality work for a fair price. He's also an expert and problem solver, so just show him the work, and watch in awe. We had rusty gutters in need of replacement, and the property management firm had a company from out of town ready to replace everything at a very high price, and with aluminum gutters. I immediately called Steve and he did a free inspection, and told me what needed to be replaced, as opposed to ripping everything out, and gave me a fair price. He was also an expert on the Home Owners Association paint schemes, and was willing to paint the gutters to match the authorized patterns, something that was a lot more complicated then I realized. I thought the gutters and downspouts were just white, and he showed me what needed to be done. He works fast, cleans up after the job and delivered on time. He is a gem, and comes highly recommended. Our estimator gave me incorrect information in developing our contract, telling me our downspouts including the downspout attachments that went underground, would be fully cleaned out during our service. When they did not clean the downspout attachments, they told me they don't do underground attachments even though the estimator told me this was included in our pricing. I paid the majority of our bill, leaving about $230 balance while I disputed the unfinished work. Eight months ago, I sent an email that was never responded to and never heard from the company again. Then yesterday when their legal department called me out of the blue to threaten to send me to collections over the unpaid balance. I replied immediately to explain the situation and their response was to say if the balance wasn't paid by the end of the day it would be sent to collections. They alleged they had called and emailed about the outstanding invoice (they hadn't - I went through my emails, spam and my phone and found no evidence of any attempts on their end to contact me). I was shocked that they took such an aggressive, threatening approach to a customer who a) they dropped the ball with and b) who was actively in good faith trying to resolve the dispute immediately once they brought it to my attention. We had a misunderstanding about the scope of work - I would have appreciated some acknowledgement or apology on their end vs. them dropping the ball completely then coming back out of nowhere to threaten me with collections. Just not a good way to do business and I am left with a very sour taste from dealing with the legal threats.

We received quotes ranging from $1,500 to $4,000 from other roofers and assumed we'd be paying out of pocket. Instead of trying to sell us a repair, Carol suggested we contact Velux directly, as she thought the skylight might still be under warranty. She was absolutely right. Velux confirmed that the skylight is covered and will inspect and repair it under warranty. Carol's honesty, knowledge, and willingness to point us in the right direction saved us thousands of dollars. We hired a contractor in April 2025 to do a full home remodel on a two story home down to studs. It was a nightmare up until September 2026 when I fired them. Part of the nightmare is we realized the contractor had ONE guy who put in the roof by himself in a over a week. The same guy did the plumbing and the same guy did our tile. When we took on the project ourselves and finally started to see the scope of everything that was done wrong and we got to speak to the inspectors. The inspectors let us know that the contractor continuously failed inspections but the contractor didn't tell us that. It We realize how messed up the situation was. I'm 36 weeks pregnant now, exhausted, discouraged, and angry. We hired Maciel Roofing to redo a roof that is less than a year old and was suppose to be "complete". Double paying for something is obviously a kick in the gut but it was necessary. The inspector was leaving today while I was arriving to the house. He actually waited for me to get out the car so he can let me know that this company is one of the most well-known and respected companies across inspectors in Hayward. He knows that things have been sucking lately, but he said hopefully that could give me peace of mind and it truly did. After what we've been through I don't know who I can trust anymore so hearing that just made this all worth it for me. I'll come back to let you all know how it ended up. However, the evidence does not support this conclusion. Our roof consists of two levels, and we observed rust on several spots across five long panels--many of which are not adjacent to the solar installation. Furthermore, the upper level of the roof, which has no solar panels whatsoever, also exhibits couple similar rust spots. These observations strongly suggest that the rust is not caused by the solar installation but rather stems from a material or manufacturing defect. Despite these panels carrying a 50-year life warranty, the roofer was quick to claim that the rust is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty. This is deeply disappointing, particularly given the clear evidence that the damage extends well beyond any area impacted by the solar work. The roofer demonstrated no willingness to help address the issue and offered no solution for the roof leak currently occurring at the lower level. The lack of accountability and absence of any proposed remediation is unacceptable given the scope of the defects observed.
