After a long day of shopping at Washington Square and the Woodburn Premium Outlets, I was in need of a good meal. I found El Juan Colorado in Wilsonville, an area I'm familiar with. Seeing that it was next door to San Francisco Tienda Mexicana, I knew it was going to be a good meal. I ended up ordering what I know as a trio, but they call it a CARAMBA PLATE. It included carne asada and grilled boneless chicken breast marinated with citrus juice, along with four prawns and mushrooms sautéed in a sauce of butter, garlic, and mild spices. My visit started with looking over the menu, to find that the entire double sided drink menu had no prices. I asked the server for a price list, but one couldn't be provided. I asked for the price of one drink and they couldn't tell me, but once they looked something up it left me feeling like it was made up on the spot. Food was undercooked, asked it to be redone. Drink wasn't even good for the high price. An employee was broom sweeping the carpet the entire time (this could have waited until closing). My wife and I came to Juan Colorado for dinner and it was our first time here. The staff are extremely friendly and the complimentary chips and salsa were tasty. The salsa is 5/5. I ordered the campechana and my wife ordered the fajita combo which came with asada, chicken and shrimp. My campechana was good and the fajitas were delicious. Was craving Mexican and I been wanting to try out Juan Colorado for a while so I finally did and it was really good. Definitely will be back to try their cocktail drinks, I only tried one which was the Cazuela which is a big ass bowl for 2 people unless you really want to get messed up, one person can drink it too, i couldnt so my husband helped lol. To me that drink was like a AMF drink, it was really strong. For food i got the "Muy Especial" which is carne asada, shrimp, rice and beans and mushrooms 10 out of 10 for that. Was honestly surprised how much bigger the place was. The ambience was inviting as well as the staff. Right from the get go customer service was on point, answering questions and reassuring that the food would take 10 minutes as they noticed I was in a rush. We were there on an afternoon when the place was just about empty. That's kind of nice, having it to yourself. There was only one server but they did a good job. Since we have no impulse control, the chips and salsa are always important to us. This was interesting in that I've never had salsa with that much vinegar in it, but I liked it and dumped the rest all over my nachos (pretty good) when the time came. Partner enjoyed theirs and I enjoyed mine; prices have gone up quite a bit but that's everywhere. I like the decor, fairly standard American Mexican murals and tiling. They have gotten my order wrong three times now. They have poor customer service and their food has lessened in quality and quantity. The location in Tualatin is superb but this place-they put wilted old lettuce on top of enchiladas. Who does that? Also they have included much more rice and limited beans now in there combos. We live closeby and don't typically come here but decided to stop in this weekend. The place is really ornately decorated and incredibly clean for how many patrons they had. The service was quick and the staff was super friendly. The food is pretty good for a American Mexican restaurant- huge portions and free chips and salsa and bean dip to start you off! The mai thai was a little sweet for my liking but my partner really loved his corona-rita. I got the tacos al pastor dinner and my partner got the caramba plate. Both were good. Disappointing. The combination meal had old slimy lettuce on top. The $7 scoop of guacamole was brown. We did not get the chips ordered to go with the guacamole. Insignificant but annoying, the rice was piled on top of the beans instead of separate sides of the container. They were deliberately placed there and not toppled during delivery. We had our food delivered by Doordash. They had to deliver a second order before delivering ours which took them on a roundabout route and an extra 20 min. Needless to say our food was also cold. On a whim I went in to the Murray-Scholls shopping center Juan Colorado for a dinner to take out. I ordered the Pollo en Mole, chicken in mole with refried beans, rice, and tortillas. The young women at the front were very friendly and helpful. Otherwise, there wasn't much to like about the meal. First off, it wasn't particularly warm when I got home about 10 minutes later. Second, the main item, the mole, was not good. I've had mole in many places, including Mexico, and this mole totally lacked the complexity that a good mole should have. All I could taste was sweetness, and a hint of spiciness. The rice was quite ordinary and there was some soft cheese kind of stuff spread over it. The chicken, well, it was covered in the mole and rice, but it sure didn't taste like much. I've been buying Rick Bayless' Frontera Mole Skillet Sauce at the grocery store, and I'd say the latter is many rungs higher on the mole ladder than the stuff at Juan Colorado. Inedible is the nicest thing we would say. Two of us received dinners which could not be eaten. These are dishes we both order frequently at the Juan Colorado in Hillsboro. They were unrecognizable here, with vegetables so uncooked that a fork had trouble piercing them. The other dish had salt added well beyond any salt lovers preferences. The flavors were otherwise horrible. They didn't even get the salsa right. On top of that, they were still ok with charging us for uneaten food that we complained about. I am a regular customer and read in next door that the servers were up charging the customers and the prices published on the menu were less than what the customers were being charged. Visited today and we were charged more than the prices on the menu. When we told the server he relunctantly changed our bill but then made three different excuses about why they charge was more. However, after receiving an incorrect order that was delivered through Uber eats , I went to return the order at the restaurant and was told I needed to contact Uber eats. My wife liked the chicken chimichanga, my son liked the chicken diablo my daughter liked the vegitarian burrito and I enjoyed the shredded beef burrito. While we don't always find places that we can all enjoy and appreciate, it's great when one does. This place has comfortable, clean, well maintained seating, good service and good food. the experience will vary with the manager on duty. The food is also varied based on time of day and who is cooking. I've had superior service at dinner time for take out with the manager even delivering my meal to my car with lots of salsa (requested) during covid shut-down. I tried to get a meal for lunch and with tip, the price was almost $20. so when they wanted to charge for more than 2 tsps of salsa, I left the meal and asked for my charge to be reversed. Maybe if I hadn't asked for lots of salsa when I ordered and NO I didn't want to buy a container of it. I wanted it to add flavor and moisture to the meal. My preference is Si Senior where the food and service is good consistently. read more

This place is the biggest disappointing eatery in Murray scholls town center. I would give a lower review if I could. I would rather eat Chipotle next door and even that place isn't too much better. I ordered a burrito to go. It had a disgusting spaghetti tomato sauce on top with cheese and brown lettuce and meat inside. They never told me their burritos came wet with sauce they just assumed everybody liked that. Their restaurant always looks dirty and empty when passed by.
