So they have daily drink 'specials', all margarita derivatives, not priced on their menu. But they are $15! For these they essentially draw the same margarita mix from store bought tequila mix from a bar gun dispenser n put it into the same glass as their $7 margi.!! Then they throw an extra shot of better tequila on top, and for Friday's special a splash of cranberry juice. Yuck. When I go to pay he apparently added another shot for yet another $3. At $18, this is by far the most expensive drink I have ever bought (and one of the WORST), all built on a $7 store bought base margarita out of a bar gun. The combination of house marg combined with alternate tequila did not taste right. What a ripoff. They shud be ashamed. I shud have looked at tge ratings before entering. i stopped by to pick up lunch from Tapatio while i was running some errands today. it was my first ever visit to this restaurant. while i was only there to order takeout, the staff were helpful and friendly. they were quick to greet me, make some recommendations, and take my order. i ordered the 3 enchiladas combo with rice and beans. while waiting, i was disheartened to see so many empty tables at peak lunchtime. it's been reported on local news that Tapatio has been impacted hard by the presence of ICE in our community. while i've never eaten here before, i've seen how full the parking lot used to be at peak meal times, so there is no doubt in my mind of the cause and effect. the enchiladas i had were delicious. the entire platter i received for $17 felt like a great value. i also very much enjoyed the addition of chips and house-made salsa. i definitely recommend showing this business some love! read more

Dined in last day. Good food. Amazing service. Tacos were point. carneasada steak plate- delicious as well. Personally didn't like the taste of enchilada and kid's burrito. Felt too much of tomato paste added to the meat. Kids though had those without any complaints:). I would recommend dine in rather than a Togo. Ever since my fam has been in Hillsboro/Beaverton area, we have gone to Juan Colorado, or Sí Señor when we wanted Mexican food. We got a circular with a coupon for Tapatio so we decided to give it a shot. It was just over a mile from our house, but it was in the "armpit" of a shopping center just off of Farmington. We walked in and the ambiance was very welcoming. We sat down and started munching on the delicious chips and salsa. I know it's a little cliché, but any Mexican restaurant that I didn't like the C&S, it usually didn't end well. I am not going to lie, this visit was a couple weeks ago so I don't remember specifics, but I do know that I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I remember that the food was not nearly as heavy as other restaurants. The rice and beans were cooked perfectly. The enchiladas had tons of flavor, but I didn't feel overstuffed after I cleaned my plate. All I know is the price for the meal was a better value than Si Señor or Juan Colorado and we will definitely be back again read more

My husband and I decided to finally check out this restaurant. We moved to this side of town almost 4 years ago and have yet to find a Mexican restaurant that we like. Well, we finally found it. It just happened to be cinco de Mayo, but we went around 2:00pm and got seated right away! We loved the bean dip that was served with the chips and salsa! My husband got a burrito and I got the chicken fajitas. Both were fantastic! We got a side of grilled Serranos and they were so delicious! Service was also great! The Pacific Northwest has a subgenre of Mexican cuisine that's best referred to as MallMex. Opened in the late '80s through early 2000s in strip malls, these Mexican spots aren't trying to emulate the comforts of home so much as they're trying to get little Timmy and Tina from Tualatin to come in for nacho platters and sopapillas while the staff sings "Feliz Cumpleanos a Ti" to them. They'll go to college an have to explain to their friends how their favorite Mexican food was a quesadilla and why they thought menudo was the band Ricky Martin was in before he went solo. Ixtapa, Muchas Gracias, Juan Colorado.... all of these places exist so Intel and Nike workers can bring their kids to eat messy, cheesy, carbs approximations of Mexican, Tex-Mex and Kroger Hispanic Aisle foods topped with salsa that tastes like marinara sauce and just enough cilantro to make it all seem exotic. Tapatio is that place, and everything from the mosaic tile and brick bar arches to the cowboy murals and Gatorade-green margaritas comes directly out of central casting. Did you ever go to a Chevy's Fresh Mex and thing "Gee, this seems awfully subtle?" Did you ever watch the Casa Bonita episode of South Park and think "Why can't life just be that way?" Tapatio fills each of those simple, generalized wishes without question. Listen to that fajita platter sizzle, smear some more sour cream on those enchiladas, and ask for another basket of chips to scrape up the leftover refried beans while you put another few dollars in the lottery machine. Nobody's going to give you a hard time for being a prejudicial lowlife with questionable tastes at this place. We have lived a 3 minute drive to this restaurant for the last 22 years. I feel I can give an honest review considering how many times we have frequented there. The restaurant has NEVER disappointed us. The food is very good no matter what we have chosen. I have always enjoyed feeling like I am in a small Mexican village with all the murals on the walls. The service has been consistently excellent through the years. At times we have needed to have take out. It was packaged well and still very warm upon getting it home. I highly recommend this establishment for its excellence in quality of food, service, and ambience. This neighborhood cantina is deserving of 5 stars. It is not that I love trying a new to me Mexican restaurant but I do love having another option when it comes to Mexican food. This is just that and a pretty solid option with excellent taquitos, enchiladas, tacos and I even tried a tostada - though the shell was a bit on the soggy side when it arrived to me so I would probably go with something else instead. I treat orders for delivery like a grocery shopping sort of order since I need to make it worthwhile to order so I try to get a few lunches out of it also. I also like to try a few different things. I try multiple types of meat and this place had great chicken, ground beef and shredded beef. Their chips were great but I was not impressed with the salsa - especially since it was wicked spicy so if you are into that you will probably love it. I like just a bit of spice - I am pretty wimpy with the spices. My favorite though was their chicken taquitos which were delicious! These guys are on my list for delivered Mexican food options for sure - they might not be at the top of the list but they are far from the bottom of the list! read more

Came here with a group since it's close by and we were craving some Mexican food. For starters, the interior is actually really nice. I love how authentic the place looks and you really feel like you're dining in Mexico. It resembles most of the hole in the wall restaurants in Cabo or Puerto Vallarta with the beautiful art on the walls and decorations surrounding your view. They start you out with chips and salsa for the table. We were all pretty hungry so we inhaled it super fast- the staff was sweet enough to bring us another serving on the house. The tortilla chips were crispy and fresh. The beans and salsa were delicious! This was probably one of the best chips and salsa I've had! Contrary to other reviews, the staff didn't rush us to order. They were sweet and very patient and answered some questions we had about the menu! Now the food- we got a variety of different dishes. Shrimp fajitas, carne asada, burritos, enchiladas, tacos, the works! Every dish was way too salty, I think it was the meat itself and not the other ingredients. Overly salty to the point that chasing it down with water helped very little. The carne asada was overcooked. The sopapillas tasted like cheap cinnamon flavored tortilla chips with some whipped cream. Everything just tasted eh. That's the best way to describe it! Also, the dishes were priced around what you'd expect for a much nicer Mexican restaurant so to me, $18 for shrimp fajitas alone seems a little steep for what you're getting. Would I come again? Food quality continues to slide. The appetizer beans and salsa have become more bland and the chips even closer to fried corn meal. Their "special" on a $10 margarita was good. No paper or crayons for the kids anymore. What got us to come back was a buy-on-get-one "free" dinner entree coupon from the local mailer. Turned out to be a complete bait and switch. After looking through the menu, I noticed the fine print covering 3/4 of the menu items - no coupons. The maximum coupon value ($8) was less than any of the dinner entrees it was supposed to cover. We had a moment where we considered leaving, but we had ordered a margarita and didn't want to be rude. Possibly not the best choice. The steak fajitas were decent, but not covered by the coupon. My coupon-relegated selection was just warmed up Sysco food with uniquely bland mexican rice. If you love alcohol and want to play the Oregon lottery, this is probably a really good fit. If you want good mexican food, there are far better options than this. But this is certainly a step up from Taco Bell. read more
