Tried this local neighborhood restaurant that I have been passing by for over a year now and got the chile verde burrito and asada taco. The burrito is a good solid choice and tasty though I would say a bit on the high side ($14) for just a burrito and no sides. The taco is street taco size and over priced at $3. There are other similar restaurants in town comparably priced but get a little more when it comes to value. Overall, aside from the higher price this is a good solid place for what I had on their menu. The staff was friendly but the place itself is a bit run down. read more

Pretty cool spot. Counter order, then has a salsa bar. I like the menu and drink presentation. We ordered the tacos Dorado and the carne asada plate. The salsas are great and spicy, that's about it. The tacos Dorado were quite bland and so was the carne asada plate. Bad service overall ordered a burrito lady asked if I wanted sour cream she said it came with the burrito so I asked for it on the side when I came to pick up I saw a $4 charge on my receipt I told her I didn't want it as she never told me it was an extra change she said no refunds and she couldn't explain the extra charge cause she was "busy" . Overall experience was ok. Perfect for a late night snack on our way home to portland. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The food came out within a few minutes but very hot. Lol not good when you're super hungry. Ambiance wasn't too bad had two different sides to choose from. Highly recommend if you want something that tastes like a home cooked meal. Food takes some time to come out but always comes out great. If you want something fast go to Taco Bell down the street. Very friendly service and the food always hits whenever I get something. Tacos de pescado and the Chimichanga are fye too. When I am hhhuuunggrryyy, Mexican food always hits the spot. We ordered here a week or so ago and the food was amazing. We had a long wait but in our eyes that means food is good. It was true that night!. Fast forward to tonight. I'm pumped! Starving and ready for some delightful food! 40 minute wait, send my son to pick up food and bamb, time to eat!! Noooooooooo!!!! I ordered the Camerones a la crema and Devin Jenkins ordered the camarones a la Diabla and they were not edible. Shrimp was tougher than a burnt petite sirloin steak that was left on the counter. No big deal, we call and are told we could get a refund if we come back in (shrimp was so awful that a remake was not an option) Awesome! Not! Husband calls in a new order to la Sierra for us so we could eat something edible and he heads to go get refund. When he gets there they were rude and didn't want to give him the refund. Each plate was $14.75. I don't expect it to be gourmet but I expect to be able to eat it. They were rude to my husband and persisted to make getting a refund difficult. Long story short, 1 night of bad food isn't a big deal... however, treating your customers Iike crap for wanting a refund of food they couldn't even chew is a huge deal! Especially when the order was over $80 and we only wanted a refund of 2 meals that were not edible. Rant over. Never again. read more

On multiple occasions I have had to wait 30+ minutes for my food, regardless if I called in my order or not; while also watching other people who came in after me get served. Today I placed an online order (which gave an estimated time of 35 mins) and didn't even go to the restaurant until 45-50 mins later, they said it wasn't done so we waited another 30 mins. Four of us stopped by on the way to wine country. At some point all all of us lived in California, and I lived in Texas for much of my childhood. Needless to say we have a soft spot for authentic mexican food and this looked like our kind of joint. The restaurant is at the back of a strip mall. Nothing fancy, but clean and cozy with a television for soccer. The food is cheap and you don't expect such generous portions for the price. While waiting for our food, we could hear the meat sizzling in back so I presume everything's made to order. Let me just say this place has phenomenal tacos. The al pastor was nicely seasoned and was the perfect foil for a bit of onions, cilantro and lime on top. Others in my party liked the tortas, tripe and beef head fillings. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Forest Grove. I like to get the tacos because they're only $1.25 each and are piled with meat, cilantro, and onions. The burritos are also fairly cheap and just as packed with the carne. I tend to get both, tacos and burritos since it's too hard for me to decide between the two :) Lengua is my meat of choice. If you didn't know, lengua means tongue in Spanish. But don't let that turn you off; the meat is so tender and full of flavor that you won't even remember you're nomming on a cow's tongue. Waste not, want not! The restaurant itself is not in stellar shape (no pun intended) and there is no waiter service. Also, the food takes quite a while to be made, so sit back and enjoy the telenovelas on the flatscreen for 15 minutes or so. I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE coming here for their Guadalajara Burrito. Its delicious !!! However the last time i ordered this burrito i found a GIANT piece of plastic right in between all that chicken and rice and delicious goodness. After I pulled out the 6 inches of plastic from my burrito i almost threw up. It ruined my whole appetite and when we called in the next day for a refund no one answered the phone's. Sometimes people complain about the wait at Tacos La Estrella. That is because their food is made up fresh to order. The wait is worth it. I've had everything on the menu except menudo which is a specialty. I just don't care for it but others have said it was good. The best things on the menu are the Green Pork Enchiladas, Chicken Fajita Burritos, Carne Asada and the Posole tastes like home made. The Salsa de Aguacate is awesome. I've been eating there for over 15 years regularly and have never once had a bad meal. The regular salsa is home made with fresh cilantro and is a staple. The fireman can often be seen eating there and usually know good food. Try them out you will not be disappointed and if anything goes amiss which rarely happens they will go out of their way to make you happy and fix it. read more

We walked in the door and the first thing we saw was a stack of dirty dishes....which is evidently where you put your dirty dishes when you're done. Right by the front door. Ummmm.....Ick. Went in anyway (like I said, it's hot outside!) Really sweet girl working the counter so things were looking up. The food was worth the risk. My husband scarfed down his Mexican enchilada plate...and my bean and cheese burrito, although I'm assuming was made ahead in bulk, was also good. Very rustic minimalistic place but pretty good food. Waited 45 minutes for 2 Asada Tacos, 1 Fish Taco, 1adobado Taco and 2 Carnitas Tacos. I highly doubt the Asada was in fact Asada. It had a funky taste. Im sure most of the meat is cooked and tacos assembled to order with the exception of fish. 45 minutes seemed like a very long time to wait for Taco's. It's a bit of a wait, but well worth it. Quite pleased with the amount of food I got for my monnies. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and kind. I ordered 4 carne asada tacos and only ate 3. There was a generous amount of meat, onions and cilantro so I was nearly full by the third taco. I was super happy to see that they had the habenero sauce too, sometimes I go to other Mexican restaurants and they don't have it or I have to ask.
