a man walking in front of the store
    Alejandra D.

This was my first time coming to this store and let me tell you, it was BUSY. Also probably because everyone was here buying their Rosca de Reyes. Parking was a nightmare, I legit felt we would get hit at any moment. My husband and I were on the hunt for chapulines (grasshoppers) and tuetano (bone marrow). We swiped the last container of chapulines. Imported from Oaxaca, a lil pricey ($12) but necessary for our recipe. After not seeing any bone marrow in the display cases, I asked the butcher if they had any bone marrow. He said yeah and went to the back to grab it. Let me tell you, this bone was HUGE and the butcher was holding it in the air like a scene from the Flintstones to show us. I couldn't believe it when he said he'd give it to us for free if we bought meat. I asked how much it would be alone. He left to go ask and meanwhile my husband came over and I told him what he'd said about giving it to us for free. My husband was like, let's just buy some meat. So by the time the guy returned, I told him we'd buy a pound of arrachera. I didn't follow up with how much the bone marrow would've been by itself, but I'm still curious. that bone was HUGE!!! We'd gone to Winco before this and they had bone marrow but it was sliced in thick disks, frozen, small, and pricey so we didn't even bother with it. This Flintstone bone was fresh and HUGE. Also, we asked if he could slice it down the middle for us so we could grill them. We were super happy in line with our purchases. I know where to get my bone marrow now! :)

2 good size tamales, ready to eat.

Service is great, food is really fresh and you can get hot and cold food ready to eat. I'm definitely a fan.

    The brand

Ok but the bolillo & bakery is good here, prob one of the best mexican pastries in town. Ive never had an issue with the store, all the employees are friendly. It can get a little crowded since its a small store. I purchased some flour tortillas here & they were terrible. They weren't seperating, waste of food & money.

A lady in front of me had an adorable baby so I complimented her on how beautiful her daughter and said that my biggest dream is being a wife and a mom. Rosemarie looked at me with disgust when I had said that. Then when I paid for my things, I had NO POCKETS so I had to pull the money from my bra and she got disgusted and said "I have to touch that. That's disgusting" and proceeded to put on hand sanitizer in front of me. May I add, I took an hour long shower before leaving my house to be met with horrible, rude, bitter woman. I love to cook, so of course grocery shopping is fun to me. Their house generic goods usually cost a fraction of the price that competitors charge (including the other store that starts with a W!) Make sure to hit up the bulk bins. I bought about 2.5 weeks worth of groceries -- including cheese and some delightful chocolate wafers -- for under $65. I even found some brands and products that I can't easily find in my own area (Contra Costa County.) At checkout time, things move pretty smoothly and efficiently. My checker was friendly and super speedy. I was able to bag up my own groceries out of the way of the next shopper, which I think keeps the lines running quickly. I'll definitely be coming back again!

Went back to the deli, still had s few minutes before the q0 min mark so waited. As estimated they brought out the BBQ Rib Tips. Which is the opposite from my last experience with bagger Elias. Last time he was smiling and friendly, said Hi, Do you need bags, and Have a good day when done. Today he didn't do any of that. A lot of the staff automatically assume you speak Spanish, and it's actually pretty rare to find someone working who speaks English well enough to help. I also found expired cat food while shopping and placed it to the side thinking someone would remove it, but when I came back two weeks later it was STILL sitting there expired. That was really concerning. Another frustrating change is the checkout process. It used to be convenient being able to buy beans, rice, and groceries all together, but now everything has to be done in separate transactions and separate lines, which just makes shopping take longer for no reason.
