Enjoyed my BBQ Crabs from Judice's 137 in Nederland, TX yesterday. The crabs were a nice size and very meaty. I wish the seasoning was a little less salty, as I couldn't eat as many as I would have liked to. Nonetheless, they are really good if you are a crab fan. read more

Today Judice had the customer appreciation special, 5 pounds crawfish +1 pound free. I also purchased half a dozen bbq crabs. The crawfish were absolutely terrible. I got there at 4:45 PM and the specialist started at 4:30 so I don't understand why it would've been this way The meat was dry, like rubber and the shells were super crunchy and hard which means they were overcooked. I called the manager and spoke to him however, he said they were cooked today. No refund was offered. The barbecue crabs were small and mushy. All the most times their food is good at this one was absolutely terrible. I won't be back for a little while. read more

Judice's 1927 is an option for large groups with its spacious seating. We were easily accommodated with no wait. However, the overall experience was just average. The food itself was a mixed bag. The crawfish was fresh, decently seasoned and a good size, but the star of the show, the fried crabs, were way too salty. It was a shame because the crabs themselves were fresh, but the heavy hand with the salt overpowered everything. Unfortunately, basic things like plates and crab crackers were missing, and even after requesting them, only some of our party received them. There was also just one set of silverware and an insufficient amount of napkins for the entire group, which made things a bit messy, until we requested more napkins and received a roll of paper towels...seems if you order messy finger foods, this should be automatically brought to the table with the food. Overall, Judice's 1927 wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. With some improvement in service and a much lighter touch on the salt, it could be a decent spot for casual Cajun fare. read more

Solid experience here. Drove all the way from Houston for some good Cajun food. I was surprised to see BBQ crabs on the menu . Having grown up eating Sartin's deliciousness, i had hopes for a close comparison. Seriously satisfied with those and the seafood basket as well as the Crawfish Fondu in french bread bowl. Thank you to our great server for recommending blackened crawfish in that and keeping my sweet tea filled! i would gladly return for the great food and service. We drive out to Nederland every week for my daughter's basketball training. Coach suggested we try this place and we were not disappointed! I loved the gumbo and my daughter and wife really enjoyed the crawfish. Our server was very attentive and incredibly friendly. Definitely will be back in the future. read more

Several family members had travelled into town for a funeral from all over, as close as Houston, as far away as Indiana and one of the Indiana people who had not been back for many, many years really wanted the BBQ Crab she always loved from this place. So we came here after stopping to met other family for a few drinks at another place and No BBQ Crab! The person serving us was friendly and very nice about it, they made some comments about calling ahead and it didn't arrive this week that made me think this happened pretty often. Still while disappointed it was not the end of the world. Then they didn't have the ingredients to make the drink one of my aunt's wanted either. 0/2 now and getting a little bad. They rest of the table went with the crawfish 5 lbs for $20 which was very popular there. I got a chicken and sausage gumbo, not as good as the one from the restaurant we ate at the night before but still good. I got a drink called the S'mores Martini, it was really good. The service was good, they got busy while we were there and very friendly and apologetic about the missing food and drinks. The place was clean with some interesting décor and a cool bar. The bathroom was clean if pretty small. It did have a very overflowing with towels trash can so in that corner there were towels on the floor and on top of trash can. Over all not a bad place. It was a 4 star but knocked one off for not having several things and while friendly didn't offer any kind of discount or anything for all the missing items. read more

First of all I came by in the morning and was told they serve crawfish starting at 4 all good I came back at 6 this evening greeted by a young very rude hostess talking to me like I was a child. Saying they don't have crawfish looking at me like I don't belong in the place. I probally would have gotten something else on the menu but had to leave before I got just as rude as she was being. I would consider other places to eat at before I visit this restaurant again. If thats the quality of staff they employ makes me reconsider the quality of food they serve. This was my second time going to Judice's. I first went for their crawfish, which was standard, but this time, I went during lunch. The service and workers were nice, but the food was below average. I went on a weekday, so it was not busy at all, and I ordered the grilled salmon and half a dozen of raw oysters. The grilled salmon came out completely raw on the inside. In my picture you can see that the outside is charred, but the interior is not cooked at all. The oysters also came out significantly sandy, and I felt like they were not cleaned completely. It was really disappointing, and I have not seen food uncooked and uncleaned like this before. read more

Great service! Very friendly and accommodating server. Oysters flavor was great! Blackened redfish on top of the goat cheese mashed potatoes was incredible. I had opted for the the mashed potatoes since they were out of the Brussel sprouts. Will have to come back to try those! Multiple tvs in the restaurant with several sports games on. I love Judice food never had a problem until St. Patrick Night I ordered crabs they looked so good but as I began to eat they was mushy I sent them back to be fried a little harder came back still the same.Waiter said it had to be a bad batch of crabs so he asked what else I would like to eat I ordered the grill black fish top with crab meat etc it was awful no taste to my surprise I even let other guess at our table taste same response.Well sent it back and was told the kitchen had closed so I didn't get to eat at all.On top of that I had the runs from the bad batch of crabs.IT was removed from my bill but not my stomach please check your crabs It went on for two days. read more

Wife and I eat here regularly. Food and service are always awesome. I'm a Cajun and this is some of the best homemade style Cajun dishes I've had in my 70 years. We highly recommend Judice's. Let's start with the positives.... GREAT establishment with a wonderful ambiance! Food was served rather quickly and the dish I enjoyed most was the Oysters. They were delicious! Now... the crabs, explained to be FRESH... came with 5 blue crabs broken in half at the body so in appearance you got 10 with 2 sides...Taste at the time was decent. Quite a bit salty, but I knew this going in from other reviews.. IMO, wasn't unbearable.. but after 3 halves... it got to be a bit much. With that I decided to save the rest for later.... Later... the following day (crabs can be reheated, for best taste, use the oven) I decided to polish off the crabs I had left.. first taste and smell it smelled like ammonia AND tasted the same... doing my research I found this is caused by a decomposition of seafood and means they were NOT fresh but most certainly DEAD and for awhile before cooking/serving. The food was amazing, we ordered the crawfish and the bacon wrapped scallops. And Wow! it was all delicious. Our waiter was extremely professional, friendly & comical at times. The atmosphere we peaceful even with almost every table full. I got a few mixed drinks, they were all garnished very classy in a martini style glass, and made good and strong, just the way I like it. My honey was happy with my choice of restraint for date night. I have always wanted to try this place and it more than surpassed our expectations. This has been our go to place for barbecue crabs after Sartain's closed and always make dinner plans when we travel from Houston. The crabs have always been seasoned perfectly however our visit last evening was a disappointment. The heavy batter and minimal seasoning changed the flavor and texture of the blue crabs that we have been accustomed to. We always have enjoyed dining at Judice's but will be venturing out to other establishments for our barbecue crab fix in the future. read more

I am slightly bias because I grew up around Judices, traveled the world and live in Austin, but had not been to this "newer" (for me) location ever. I was NOT disappointed. Judice's has kept the focus of flavors and flair alive in a quaint little place that stays busy for fine dining in Southeast Texas. Jazz played this night with a Frank Sinatra sound and it was pleasant. We ordered the Pistolettes, Blackened Redfish, Gumbo, Burger, and salad... all of it was top notch and the burger was nothing "basic" at a fine dining place. Personally the chef was able to properly blacken my fish and that is SO HARD to find. Most places just sear it and add cayenne after the fact. Never here at Judice's and those flavors were so happy to welcome me home. It was a great night of food, service, and atmosphere and should I need another great night when I return to SETx I will come in once again. read more

Well , It looks like Al Judice has done it again. His latest restaurant on Nederland Ave, is amazing. Not like any other place in mid county. It has style , cool atmosphere, superior service and excellent food. My husband , daughter & I came today during lunch. We all had the lavender lemonade. My daughter and I added vodka. Lol. Excellent seafood gumbo. Stopped in for a quick lunch as I heard great news about food. Tried the Boudin Balls appetizer, they were kind enough to split the order with both spicy and regular. Gumbo had great depth of flavor. Seafood not over cooked. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. My only concern was length of time it took food to leave the kitchen. A quick lunch turned into almost an hour with a cup of gumbo and the Boudin. Good value for price. Would return when in area to try more of menu. read more
