    the menu for the restaurant

A bit dirty inside. Greasy menu, dirty chairs and tables and stained napkins, but service is good and the food is very good! Food came out fast and freshly cooked. The crawfish etouffee is full of flavor but not spicy, I've never had an etouffee that was not spicy and this was the best I've had so far. The grilled seafood plate is big and with all kinds of seafood, they look fresh and tasty. The cheese burger is also tasty even it's a simple dish. The beef patty came out piping hot. This place is near Gator Country, which is a nice substitute of the limited cafe menu there.

A little hole in the wall with some amazing food. Some of my favs are the lo mein, shrimp, shrimp poboy, & fried crawfish tails.. sometimes their fried crawfish tails are huge!!!

    Asian Style Gumbo

I ordered the Shrimp Gumbo and couldn't stand to finish it. It's Asian Style Gumbo not Cajun Roux Gumbo and it shouldn't be considered GUMBO at all! It had a sweet/heat to it that was unappealing in an oily brown gravy style sauce that didn't even smell like gumbo. They use red bell peppers, very thinly sliced sausage and I'm not sure what the black stuff floating was! Who puts sausage in Shrimp Gumbo? The shrimp were an after thought judging by the appearance and flavor. To better explain, I was being up sold to the $7.98 lunch gumbo which comes with an egg roll vs the $5.99 single item in was ordering. The gumbo game with rice and crackers but WHY would anyone eat an egg roll with gumbo is beyond my traditional thinking. Small place and the only "restaurant" in town but its more of an "eating place" since you pay then eat without service.

Nothing fancy, but decent food and friendly service. Plenty of seafood options, Cajun is limited to gumbo and crawfish when in season.

Really good crawfish. The spicy garlic is a hit. Will be back to try some other things on the menu.

You can't miss it, the brightly painted exterior with the name of the restaurant in big letters along the roof is impossible to miss. We arrived at around 1:15 so the usual lunch crowd had thinned out and we got a table for the 8 of us right away. Our server took drink orders while we all checked out the menu. Tia Juanita's Fish Camp serves a mix of Cajun/TexMex and great seafood all rolled into one! While we were tempted to order an appetizer of fried alligator balls, we opted to just proceed with lunch as we hoped to be ahead of early rush hour traffic back in Houston. I ended up trying a cup of the Seafood Gumbo, it was perfectly made with a decent amount of shrimp and other seafood, nicely flavored gumbo broth and a small amount of rice to pull it all together. After that I had the Shrimp Quesadillas. Other members of our group got fish or fish tacos, seafood enchiladas and other tasty things and everyone agreed the food was great with large portions. You want seafood? Well they don't skimp on the seafood in your order, it's virtually popping out of your tacos! Our server was great and took care of each of us, when she brought out the separate checks she delivered them to each person correctly and then returned credit cards to each without a mistake. The restaurant is brightly decorated, hardly a square inch of free space on the walls! This place is definitely worth the trip or pulling off of the freeway as you drive by.

The place was pretty full the 2 times we visited recently, even at 5:30 pm. The first time we ended up being seated near the entrance to the rest room, so there was a continuous stream of people going by yesterday. No Bueno. We started with drinks, and ordered chips and salsa. Yes, they charge for this, but the chips are really good. On our first visit this time I ordered a blackened fish po boy combo, which was a half sandwich, fries, and choice of gumbo. My husband ordered a roast beef po boy with fries and potato salad. I love a good gumbo. The cup of seafood gumbo that came with my meal had plenty of shrimp and fish, but the roux bordered on burned. My sandwich was overly salty, but the fries were excellent. I had peach sweet tea, which was very refreshing. My husband enjoyed his beef po boy. It came with dipping sauce. There was no skimping on the amount of meat in his sandwich. On our 2nd visit this trip we asked to be seated in a quiet area. It was much better. We had salads... grilled chicken for him, taco salad for me. We really enjoyed our meals. If we return to Winnie, we will give Tia Juanita another try. But we'll be sure to insist on being seated away from the rest rooms.

I loved the fried green tomatoes with a sauce that almost tasted like chuy's ranch, but it came with a creamy bacon that was good and reminded me of potato soup. My "top shelf" margarita was only $2 more but came with an extra shot. The boudin balls were amazing flavor, nice & moist cooked perfectly. I ordered the fish basket with 5 pieces of fish and bought enough home to have it for lunch out of the air fryer the next day. Husband had the ahi tuna & said it was wonderful flavor. We arrived hungry & left happy with enough lunch for the next day. Great find and will eat again! Joy, was our awesome server to be sure to request her for the best service you could ask for!

A true Tex-Mex restaurant typically serves complimentary chips and salsa, but that wasn't the case here. The nachos were simply a pile of chips covered with canned nacho cheese sauce instead of individually layered chips topped with beans, cheese, and jalapeños. Honestly, the food at Pancho's was better, which says a lot about the level of quality here. The Cajun dishes were somewhat better, but they still didn't compare to restaurants like Pappadeaux or Landry's. They likely stay busy because they're the only option in the Bolivar Peninsula/Crystal Beach area. The atmosphere and service were the highlights of the visit. Unfortunately, the overpriced menu resulted in a hefty bill that left us feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied. There's plenty of room for improvement, and I hope the owners from Beaumont make some upgrades to better match the quality their menu promises.
