I don't know what Annie G. Is talking about but as far as I know Judy doesn't talk negatively about her clients. Actually, during an appointment a client was not happy about the color (it was too dark) and Judy had told her that she could come in again in a couple of days and redo it to her liking. She reassured her and said it looked great. The client unfortunately left and didn't want to come back. Judy was going to do it free. Yes her other stylist help out with her client(s). But painting a narrative as if they're "slaves" is completely not true. Also, you pay for what you get. So if you're wanting to look good you're gonna pay good money. I've gotten my hair done twice here and will continue to come here because they all provide great service. It's all positive vibes. I've had two haircuts from Judy and a manicure. They were fantastic! I now have a modern but still age appropriate haircut. I actually walked out of there this evening feeling younger, pretty, and dainty (with my perfectly painted nails). over priced, the owners ego is bigger than her hair. she talks crap about all of her clients behind their back and has a better than attitude. all that matters to her is money and control and it's uncomfortable to watch the way she treats her workers. like they are slaves. I wouldn't come back to this over priced salon for he life of me. she has others do all the color, wash etc and takes the credit. charges prices for her work but doesn't do anything other than cuts and styles you can get from great clips. elf could do better its sad watching her be manipulated by an old lady who's only worried about her weight and pocket book. not genuine relationships and kindness for others. plus shes not great at hair. she makes mistakes and plays them off. the place itself is nice but the woman lurking gotta go! read more

I'll start by saying that this review is about 1.5 years late. It's taken about that long for my hair to grow out to a workable length in order to go to another salon to correct it. I went to Judy's early 2021. I'd read the reviews & was convinced I finally found someone who would actually listen to what I wanted in a haircut. After years of mediocre haircuts, I assumed that since I wasn't paying super high dollar, maybe paying a little more would end in a better result. Nope. PROLOGUE: To begin, I went in at the height of the pandemic--COVID cases were rampant at that point. Immediately upon entering, I very quickly saw that next to no one wore a mask--Judy included. This was an immediate red flag, given that masks were still required at the time. However, I put it aside & sat down while I waited for my consultation. She came over, & told me in a hushed tone "You don't have to wear that around here," which honestly made me want to put on about 10 more masks. I said I was fine & she asked me what I wanted. SCENE I: I showed Judy about 3423 pictures, pointing out what I liked. I came into this knowing full well what cut & color I wanted. I wanted layers, some side bangs, & balayage. I already had layers, as well as long-ish bangs. I didn't ask her to reinvent my entire look. I am not Mia Thermopolis, heir to the kingdom of Genovia. I wasn't trying to create a makeover montage. Judy was quick to tell me it was too much change. She pulled out her color bible & said balayage was not the best option (ok?) but instead she could lighten it with another technique. She showed me some samples based on my hair color. She told me what kind of cut she would do & I sat down to wait. Mind you, Judy (at least at the time) was the only person allowed to hold a pair of scissors so she quickly consulted with me with one person in the chair & my friend in the bullpen, then it would be my turn. I just knew I was looking at a ridiculous wait. SCENE II: I waited & waited. Then wouldn't you know it, I waited some more. I literally sat in a corner holding my breath (with my mask) because so many people came in & Judy told them all they didn't need theirs. Then, finally, it was my turn for my color. Judy calls over someone she calls a color expert & come to find out, it was her 2nd day. Totally fine. Given that the law states only Judy can hold scissors, it makes sense that others have to do everything else. Judy tells her what to do, what products to use, etc. The girl (the expert, I thought) asked about another technique but Judy held her micromanager ground. The employee did what she was told. After she was done, I was under the dryer for a while. Judy is cutting hair while everyone else was sitting around waiting for something to do. She came over & peeled the foil a few times & would say something like "Yeah, we're getting there" or "Just a little bit more" but I was under there a while. I felt like a drumstick at KFC. Once my scalp started to burn, my hair was then washed & I sat back in the lounge to wait for my life to end... I mean, wait for my turn in the chair. SCENE III: I sat down in the chair & immediately didn't like my hair color. Judy assured me it would look better when dry or some semi-soothing remark. She starts to cut my hair & the thing is, just PRATTLED on endlessly about shit I simply don't care about. I learned every pet peeve this woman has. I am not wearing a mask at this point given that she is literally cutting hair off my head but she still could have. But nope. I got to hear an earful of her personal thoughts on masks & a number of other topics. Also, just as a side note, this haircut took FOREVER. I was not getting much cut, yet time just slowly rolled on & life slowly drained from me. I knew about halfway through this was going to be a horrible haircut. My bangs stood on end & it reminded me of the time I cut my own hair when I was 5. I had no layers. We get to the style portion of this saga, & I end up with this weird, feathered haircut & it took everything in me to not cry. I somehow mustered a "YEAH IT LOOKS GREAT" when she asked if I liked it. I hated it but I'm a people pleaser who couldn't dare say how pissed I was. I was ready to go. SCENE IV: Well it was time to pay up & leave. I had literally been at this salon for FIVE HOURS. I had arrived at 5 pm & it was now 10 pm. What the actual...?! My butt was sore from all the sitting I had done & given that I loathed the results, I was in no mood for chit chat--I wanted to pay & leave. I'll cut right to the chase. At the end of this adventure, I spent $431. The pricing was not mentioned before we started. My friend's was about half the cost & Judy hit me with the ol' "It costs more for long hair" excuse. Overall, this was a horrible experience only made worse by the cost. I would've been mad paying $60, let alone 7x that. I will never return & urge anyone considering to think again. read more

I went for the first time on 7/1, my stylist was Sydnee, she cut 13+ inches off after years of having crazy, long hair and did a color. It looked amazing! She was easy to talk to and patient with me as I had my 3 month old with me. Great prices as well. I'm glad I found a salon here I can trust. read more

I got invited last minute to a Basketball Game with my boyfriend's family and needed to do something with my hair and since it's curly I don't have many options once it's already dry. I searched up salons in the area and they just happened to have an appointment available that day. I was nervous because I'm not really a fan of finding a new hairdresser but I IMMEDIATELY fell in love. Judy and the other hairdresser were so kind and funny! When I arrived I had the most lovely talk with the both of them as Judy was writing Christmas cards to all of her clients! Yes, ALL of them. I will definitely be going back soon for a trim. I just got my hair washed and styled and I loved it. Sydnee straightened my hair and put some great product in my hair that made it go from feeling like hay to feeling like silk. The atmosphere at Judy's Loft is quaint and inviting...then when you get to talking with Judy, it's like you've known her for years! I have only had 3 hair colors my entire life and although they weren't terrible, I just didn't love them...each one left my hair looking non-natural and after a short amount of time it turned a non-flattering coppery color that screamed "go back to the salon". Judy has a way of making you feel so comfortable. Her "consultation" was like having a conversation with my girlfriends! She knew what I wanted, actually cared about what I wanted, and she delivered in a big way. She took the time to give me styling tips and did not force the sale of any products. After speaking with Judy briefly on the phone last evening I was excited about having her cut my hair today. Upon entering the salon I felt like a star ... introduced by name to everyone (customers included). Judy sat down with me and asked specifically and in detail what I wanted, what I didn't want and then verified that what she heard was correct. Very pleasant conversation during the cut. When she was finished, I felt there may have been some uneven layers on one side vs the other. I am not a hairstylist, nor do I have any experience or knowledge about cutting hair, but when I mentioned it, rather than explaining what may have been my misperception she seemed to lose her confidence, started cutting away and left it up to me to decide if it was right or not. Then to the cash register. Perhaps my fault, but I never asked the price for long hair trim ... I figured it was going to be around $50 or so for shampoo, cut (trim) and style. I almost choked when she told me it was $87 "for long hair" "the consultation was free". And why more for long hair? What's different about cutting long hair? It's still the same amount of hair; no extra time or product... it's just a matter of how high she has to raise her arms to do the cutting! $87!!!! ... for a TRIM!!! With such ridiculous prices I think it would be proper to give a warning to be sure the person can afford it or wants to throw that kind of money her way. (That is FAR from usual and customary for a TRIM). Before getting that startling figure I had planned on going back to her every 6 weeks. I'm not poor by any means, but I can't justify paying $87 every 6 weeks to get my hair TRIMMED. Sorry Judy. You're wonderful, just ridiculously overpriced. Update: I'm not intending to be mean, just honest in order to help others... after a few times working with this haircut I am finding that it's pretty bad. I have blunt chunks, the layers are way too short and it just doesn't lay right (she sounded so confident that she could make the cut with with my waves). She offered a "1 week warranty" but honestly ... I don't want to go back there. It will take a year to grow this out to a workable length. Update #2: went to SmartStyle to have them trouble shoot the cut. Holy cow...I asked her to show me what she found before fixing it... pretty much the entire cut. $19 later ... much improved. In the end $110+ total for a trim. Ouch. Will stick with the $19 cuts in the future. read more

Ihave paid alot to get good color but not $200.. what was i suppose to do.. I could understand maybe 140 but, not $200 I thought that included my products too which I can understand Maybe.. Judy saved me from my despair! On 02/11/15, I went to get a full head of highlights from a woman my friend swore by. I was very happy with my regular colorist but making the drive to La Cantera gets tiring. I've been on the hunt for a local stylist. Long story short, I requested back to back full icy blonde highlights and ended up leaving the salon with orange hair and big blonde stripes. I was horrified. This woman managed to ruin the color, cut, and integrity of my hair in one visit. Since my colorist was out on vacation, I was stuck searching for someone to do a color correction ASAP. Never in my life have I had to do that. I've been blonde for over 15 years. I stumbled across Judy online. Impressed by her bio, I decided to call her. She immediately put me at ease. She wanted me to text pictures and if I didn't mind wanted to get in touch with my regular colorist. I was impressed! A few hours later, I had the incredible pleasure of meeting her in person. The salon is clean and trendy. Stocked with high quality hair care. Judy knew who I was as soon as I walked in. She greeted me at the door and offered me a drink. We sat down and talked about my hair history. We went through pictures of my hair before it was ruined and what I had envisioned (going from partial to full to be super blonde). She even got out color swatches to go over with me. After deciding how to correct my hair with causing as little damage as possible, she had a few other ladies come over to look at my hair and went over her plan. The collaboration at this salon is nothing like I've ever seen. Awesome ladies! I walked out of the salon with my hair the color I had hoped I'd be in time for summer. A beautiful beige blonde. There's a few minor imperfections (still some orange throughout and highlights thicker than I'd like underneath) but that's no fault of hers. She had quite a job to clean up and explained what my outcome would be. I hugged her before I left and thanked her graciously for staying until 11pm on a Friday night to help me. I'm so excited to return to her for non-corrective work. I sure wish I would have found this gem of a salon a long time ago. As much as I love my long time colorist, I found a new home and a new friend. Try Judy or any of the girls! You won't regret it. read more

I am completely apauled by the unprofessional nature of this shop. My sister in law had her hair done by Judy and the first time it was amazing...so naturally i made an appointment...the second time she went Judy totally messed her hair up. So Judy canceled my appointment!!! Wow! I went with my sister in law to get her refund and Judy was down right ugly, wouldn't produce a return/refund policy without a signed document saying we wouldn't post online about this incident. All i can say is WOW, folks, take your money elsewhere, go to a salon that will do right by you. Stay away from Judy's salon!!! read more

An absolutely amazing hair salon, I've had my hair cut for over a week now and it still looks fantastic (even with my sucky blow drying technics) when I sat down in Judy's chair I felt a sense of comfort and welcoming in it. She was so sweet and an amazing person. I'm very critical of my hair and have had many bad hair cuts because the hairstylist didn't listen to me at all. But not Judy, she listened to my concerns and what I wanted my hair to look like. She also told me that I wasn't throughly washing my hair which is was kind of embarrassing to hear! But I'm so glad she did tell me or else I'd be walking around with conditioner in my hair. But you will not go wrong if you choose Judy's! That was my first time and there will be many more appointments to come. But if I could Judy 10 stars I would because she's a 10 star hair salon!! read more

Edith Mason Sam is a first class Beautician. She is multi-talented and places her primary focus on hair care and customer satisfaction. Edith manages to give me the results I want with hair coloring, styles, and conditioning. I am most pleased with smoothing treatments that she uses on my hair that allow me to go from straight to curly and points in between. Until I encountered Edith, to whom I have been faithful for years, I never had highlights or light colors on my hair without hair loss. Highlights are one of her specialties though she is versatile and manages to give her customers what they want. I have seen positive hair transformations in her other clients who are also faithful to Edith. She always works to develop healthy hair.
