Today I had a weight lifted off of my shoulders coming to this place. I have been in SA for two years and have not found a hair "home" until now. I grew up with only one stylist for over 10 years so I am not so trusting of anyone to touch my hair. My experience before today was horrendous and it made me skeptical of wanting to try again. The atmosphere of the shop is very relaxing. The facility is well kept and clean. Upon entering the shop, I was greeted with smiling faces, and I know that can be hard at 7a.m. I was put in the hands of Eural and let me tell you, he was my blessing in the sky. My hair was in pretty bad shape (sorry Eural) and he worked his magic on me! Before he was even finished cutting I was receiving compliments from other customers so it made me feel so good! In addition to an amazing cut, he gave me advice on how to take care of my hair and get it back to healthy status. A few months ago after the Army lifted it's "Dreadful" Dreadlock policy ban** clever play on words there :) ** I started searching Yelp, Facebook, Google and Instagram and #hashtags to locate a skilled loctician that could make my Loc Dream come true.. After calling a few locticians and learning some helpful tidbits, I found Bella under the #hashtag #SanAntoniolocs and booked an appointment with her at Designer Glitz & Glamour. The Appointment : All I can is that I was "Blessed" that Bella actually had appointments open a week after my return from Kuwait. Since I had leave to burn, I was hopeful that I could get my Locs done while on leave and most of the locticians I found online were booked out months in advance. Bella booked me a consultation immediately and explained thoroughly the process of Dreadlock extensions and Instadreads. Before my actual dreadlock appointment she provided me with a wash, natural style and steam treatment. About a week and a half later, I hopped into Bella's chair and watched her magical fingers turn my puffy fro into amazing locs. A process and length that would have taken me years to achieve within a day's work. She took time to explain the process and even provided tutorials to her peers. It was unbelievable watching her creation and my Dream come to fruition. The process of adding hair from start to finish took 12 hours and all I can say is this Woman and her craft is Gold. She turned a dream.. my desire into reality. But I could not end without speaking on her integrity. When deciding on how much hair I needed, Bella overestimated and purchased the extra hair from me. The Salon: Not too hard to find this gem as it is located conveniently near Randolph AFB and off of E. Aviation. It shares the parking lot of a local Thai Restaurant and is beautiful inside and provides eyelash and nail care. I was placed at ease when I noticed that children weren't running around and wanted to drift off to sleep under the wash bowl as the soft music played. When I was offered a variation of sweet wines I knew I was in the right spot... (Excellent Customer Service) Yes I said Wine and it was sweet and divine. I was sipping on Bubbly and staring at myself looking Sassy and Sexy.. I would give this Experience and Bella 10 stars if I could. My daughter received excellent service from Jason in the past. Jason wasn't available and we booked with another stylist. We paid $185.00 and I had to take it down the next day, and find a stylist at another salon. My daughter wore a hat to school that day. The stylist never asked my daughter what she wanted, and continued to talk about how uneven her hair was causing her to cry. Overall, the twist were horrible, she wanted the tips of her hair colored, and she colored her whole head. I called to let them know, never asked for a refund, and felt dismissed. I was offered to book, and pay with Jason a week later. Never again!! read more

I went in to get my nails done and the girl was 45 minutes late after my set appointment. Then she had no clue what she was doing. My nails started to peel by the next day. I've never had this happen. Plus she screwed up on the design after bragging she got great reviews. Not impressed at all. I will never come back when I come to visit San Antonio. Ladies! We all know the trust issues we have with our hair. We are very hesitant about letting people do our hair for fear of it getting jacked up! They say long hair don't care but it do. It do care! Either we paid a lot of money for those extensions or we just want a cute trim and style....either way we care. Shoooot. It would appear that this salon caters only to those with ethnic hair but there has been a great mix of cultures, races, and hair textures present each time I have come. Shoooot. I don't know how else to say it except how the owner, LaDelle, put it....they do all types of hair....and I believe her. She and her staff have been wonderful in everything they do here. She knows her stuff and sets a precedence for her staff to follow. Highlights from our experiences here: -mom was happy with her relaxer and style. If mom doesn't complain...you are winning -daughter's micro-braid extensions were done beautifully! -the steam treatment made my hair as soft as warm butter...and who doesn't like butter?? Shooooot. If I could rate this salon 10-20 stars I definitely would. So I made an appointment through the Mindbody app in the Apple store. You can schedule an appointment online through their website but mine was having trouble loading so I'm not sure if it was down or just my phone. I scheduled a Loc consultation with Bella. It was originally set for 12:30 but she called me and asked if i could come in at 11 (which was no problem so I did) Not only was the salon spotless and everyone was friendly, bella was EXTREMELY knowledgeable on her craft. This queen truly knows everything about locs and then some. I loved the fact that as she was doing my hair she was telling me what she was using, the benefits of it, where i could get it, etc. I'm military and she is prior military, so she knew exactly how to style my hair. I managed to get lucky because she had a cancellation so she actually ended up doing my hair the same day and I am in love. I've always wanted locs and I'm so glad I found someone in San Antonio who is amazing at it. This salon also does sew ins, nails, pedi's, eyebrow waxing and more. They are truly a one stop shop and located right outside Randolph AFB! I recommend this place hands down! read more

Visited for the first time today to get my 8 year olds hair cut and straighten. Bella was really great with her and her hair came out beautifully! Everyone one in the shop was very friendly and the facility was clean and well organized. Refreshments were available which was a great bonus while I waited! Only down side was the parking. My overall experience with barber Que was just OK. The cut came out amazing and I am happy with that but he needs some manners. I came in last Tuesday for my 10:30 appointment. He had me wait an additional 15 minutes while he chatted with a coworker. .and then began setting up his station. I went thru the app to make the appointment, it was not a walk in so, why the wait? Several times during the haircut he bumped my feet, didn't say anything. He combed my hair, my earring fell out. Didn't say anything. His finger was in my eye for the close up, didn't say anything. So I would not return to this barber but overall the shop was very nice the staff was friendly. read more

I had made an appointment a few weeks back, and the day before my appointment someone from the shop called me and asked if I was still coming in for my appointment I confirmed that I was. On the day of my appointment I walk in 10 mins early, I notice the person I "REQUESTED" to do my hair had a client in the chair, so I wasn't worried or in a rush, but then the manager asks me what am I getting done to my hair and who am I getting my hair done by I told her and then she gets some other lady to come start on my hair even when I specifically "REQUESTED" this one person! Mind you I don't like other people touching my hair I've been going to this salon for 10+ years now for the SAME person! So once the lady starts my hair, the manager is asking the person that's suppose to be doing my hair what needs to be done to my hair! That was red flag #1! Then the lady bleaches my hair and washes it out and stuff then puts the dye on top and puts me under a dryer I look at my phones camera and notice my hair has patches of blonde in it and I ask the person who's originally suppose to be doing my hair if it's suppose to do that and he said did the dryer go off? And I said no? Then he said then your fine. I was a little skeptical after that because he didn't even come over and look at my hair he just assumed. Then the lady took me to the back and rinsed me off and put a new color dye in to make it "even out"? I guess I don't know but as I was in the process of getting my hair done the receptionist told me I need to pay right now and I'm like i can't pay when my hair is done? She said said no, because were about to close and I need to close the register, that was red flag #2 so then I'm paying them $155 for bleach , style, wash, and dye?? For a hair color I didn't even request I requested a lighter pink and they put a hot pink in my head and I explained to them that I didn't appreciate the lady doing my hair when I specifically asked for that one specific person! I received a message from the owner and marketing director of this establishment regarding the stylist that burned my baby girl's scalp. I've been informed that he no longer works there. But here's the kicker; the owner didn't just say James Wallace no longer works here, she informed me of the great improvements and additions to her shop to include the new staff she has and invited me to come and check it out, they both did. Outstanding and professional response to an obsolete complaint and I want to thank them for taking the time to welcome me and my family back. I came in about 2 months ago to get a trim. I had some postpartum shedding and breaking so I understand she needed to cut layers in my hair to make it blend. There was an up charge for $10 for that (they called it a "precision cut" - it's called layers and it shouldn't cost more to cut 1/2" of hair off) which she didn't even inform me of that while she was cutting my hair. She just said your going to need layers because the crown was much shorter- i said ok that's fine.... she never once mentioned $10 more which i would have been ok with if she said something. Anyway i was completely blind sided at check out. Then I asked for a style so I could see what the cut would look like which wasn't much cause It was long layers. She charged me $65 to re-flat iron my hair. I came into the salon with already washed and presses hair I simply wanted a trim and style. All she did was flat iron my hair, no bump, no curls, no style just literally re flat ironed my hair so I basically left the salon paying $100 for a hair cut. I'm absolutely frustrated with this business. When I called to set the appointment up I was told the cut was $25 and the style was free since my hair was already washed and pressed, either employees are uneducated on pricing or the person who charged me just got over on me..... seriously how the heck do I end up paying $100 for a hair cut which I didn't like. Additionally, I noticed when i got home I still had split ends so I had to have it cut again. I wanted to like this place but can't after this recent experience. I feel like they got over on me because I was a new face and wanted minimal service. (Only been here one time before this and had no issues i even left them 5 stars) - Where in life do they charge $65 to flat iron hair that's already straight, she ran the flat iron through my hair for literally 2-5 minutes. Needless to say I won't return. Oh and the stylist was 30 minutes late.... simply unprofessional. Ughh I'm still upset... complete rip off! read more

From the moment we walked in to the time we left it was a positive experience. We didn't have an appointment but we were still able to be seen within a short period of time. We each had something different done from hair color to hair cut to Eyebrow waxing & possibly a massage.
