Honestly my favorite Salt & Straw location! Lots of space and GREAT AC haha…read more Mekhi was so delightful and really helped me find a good flavor, the Apple Cider Donuts, because I usually just get the double fold vanilla. The rest of the staff was super nice as well.

There's even a bathroom in there for customers -- brilliant !! The variety of flavors is pretty standard, but they provide their monthly specials and some last chance ice cream flavors. I got the Daisy Chains limited edition flavor, as well as the apple cider donuts flavor from the September apple series. They both complemented each other fabulously since the Daisy Chains flavor has pink frosting and sugar cookies in a vanilla base, whereas the apple cider donuts flavor has a lot of cinnamon and some caramel adorned inside. I also have routinely skipped out on their waffle cones -- a crime because they taste superb and smell even better. It holds a surprisingly generous amount of ice cream and doesn't melt so long as you stay inside or are not in hot weather.

My Mom ordered a single cone, which came with two scoops. She chose vanilla and another flavor that had a delicious coconut taste to it. I ordered a single cup and, after trying a few flavors, I ended up choosing the coconut-flavored one and strawberry. I don't remember the exact name of the coconut flavor, but it was really delicious! The ice cream was absolutely delicious, and the service was also excellent. We were very happy with our visit. I've also heard that McConnell's uses high-quality ingredients, and I really hope that's true because you can definitely taste the quality in the ice cream. I would definitely come back again! A little while ago, I heard that McConnell's ice cream is made with high-quality ingredients, so I bought a bunch of it from Whole Foods Market and stocked up at home.

The passion fruit was refreshing, with a bright, fruity flavor that wasn't too sweet. The Earl Grey is my favorite. It has a slightly earthy, aromatic flavor, and I liked the chunks of shortbread cookie throughout. The place is super small and no line, but the flavors were plentiful. I forget what they do, but you can get a combo of flavors in a single scoop. Then, an eternity ago, it closed and we were sad. Then Long Beach Creamery opened and we weren't that sad for that long, but still, I absolutely still thought about them every once in a while, sad that they'd left. Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.
